That’s so understandable. I’m definitely getting Oryx and gamine, but I’m considering pieta, and maybe Elbe. But also a full Nkiru in sienna...

@Chameleon Ah, no it's true. Ingenue won't be available. Eloy it's just a pipe dream of mine XD

She will sell only the ones she usually sells but in black resin.

 

That’s valid. I’m dyeing an ingenue head obsidian to get around that.

Yep! The dream would be an obsidian ingenieuse, honestly, but there’s no way I could afford that. I’m also debating using a different head for my obsidian character and dyeing my ingenue head red because I have a weakness for red.

 

@Chameleon Yeah me neither. This is why I'm so pumped up about this (prolly) last chance to get an obsidian Twigling doll!!

You should totally try to dye it in red!

 

I’ll have to figure out a body for her too, but that shouldn’t be hard. I might just have to do it!

Twigling sent out emails about the pre-orders for the Obsidian, guys!

If you want Ingenue and/or Eloy heads be sure to answer the email, please! Maybe there is still hope! (Maybe)

 

Last email I got from Twigling was in May... I'm super salty that it looks like the only places she's posted about the Obsidian are FB/Insta, and not on her own website...

Well, I guess it cannot hurt to tell Twigling you are interested in Eloy and/or Ingenue anyway, email or not.

 

Finding an obsidian Ingenue is the dream, but from what I have seen I'm not interested in the redux Ingenue, so I am a bit disappointed. I am however REALLY excited about the obsidian preorder because I can't wait to see more dolls in beautiful black resin!! I am looking forward to everyone's owner pics in the future.

EDIT: I'm dumb and I want both ingenue and elf ingenue but got mixed up, the one I want in obsidian is elf ingenue but obviously she isn't available

 

I’m also really excited. Honestly, the endgame for me is finding a stained/yellowed ingenue and dyeing her obsidian. For now though, I just think gamine is so pretty.

 

Apparently redux Eloy "will be quite similar to his older self but smaller" while redux Ingenue "will need to try (yet again) to modify without losing her essence as has happened when I have tried to renew her in the past. That said, she will also be marginally smaller than before"

So, since pre-orders will be up till December, I think it could be wise to wait and see this new Ingenue ( just saying ofc, I'm a curious person).

 

I have just seen bust stand are an option now for the obsidian preorder and if the preorder indeed last until december i am going to have to pick one head (or two) and it won’t be easy!

I want the Eloy head too. May be we should ask? I am always confusing to ask

 

@916mvk the Eloy head is up for pre-order, but there are no pictures because Twigling is waiting for the prints of the head.

I’m sorry if this information is easily available and I’m just not able to find it, but does anyone know what Twigling resin colors correspond to what shades in other companies? I am very tempted by the Eloy head but I’m not sure what shade to get him in to pair him with, say, a Dollshe body or a Doll Chateau body. Thank you for any help, and again sorry if I have just missed seeing this info somewhere!

Edit - never mind I just found how the colors correspond to Dollshe. I would love to see more owner pics of this gorgeous guy if anyone wants to share!

 

The original Eloy was cast by Dollshe, and has a Massive Neck. My guy doesn’t fit pretty much any body I have. He was designed for the 5th motif timeless body, so he’s just a big doll. Reese unveiled a new smaller Eloy in her insta today, intended for her bodies, and he’ll be cast by DCS, which I don’t know about the matches for. By some crazy happenstance, I have twigling resin from basically all her casters except DCS yet.

As am I! As it stands, I have every torso/leg combination she has, and almost all the busts. I love Twigling so much. Once there’s also the androgynous body, I might have to hop one of the gamines over to it, because right now their character is on the long torso/long thigh/a bust, but if I like the new body better...

 

Oh she's working on a more androgynous body? Oooh that's exciting. I was looking at getting a flat chested (A bust) body for one of my floating heads, but that's not on the cards for a while. Guess I have time to wait and see what this new body will look like!

 

Out of curiosity @Chameleon what's the best combo, for you? (I mean: long legs, short hip and son on) I really cannot decide XD

 

Androgynous body would be a wonderful addition even to the doll hobby as a whole. Bless

 

That’s hard! My go to is short torso, long thigh, but (because 3 of my girls are preordered still) this is my first time seeing the long torso, and it’s winning me over. I also really like the B bust, which currently is the only one any of my secondhand dolls cane with, but I’ll soon have a and c to compare to.

She looks like B Bust, short torso, long thigh! I recently got a long torso girl though!

 

@Chameleon I kinda want to buy every piece. I mean, I wouln't mind if it was a white skin (I could buy another piece during another preorder), but this a one time only obsidian, I don't want to screw things up...

 

it's probably not. Twigling did a "one time" obsidian run of Ingenue years ago. It was supposed to be the only opportunity to get a Twigling doll in obsidian black resin, until she changed her mind. It might be another 4-5 years before she does it again, but at this point I suspect she probably will

I get that completely. I ordered my girl already in what’s probably my favourite configuration (Elbe/b bust/short torso/long thigh) and a second head, but for me, the challenge is heads! I’m still wondering if I’m going to order some more heads (ingenue/sa ingenue are always so tempting)

 

@Chameleon Ohhhh the heads, yeah, I want Eloy, Elbe, Gamine and Ingenue. But should I buy them all? I will go over 1000 euro LOL I have to find a compromise XD So hard. Too hard. I will wait till December, can't really decide now.

 

That’s so fair. I personally think I’m going to stop myself after my next head order, for now, and then see what I can learn about permanent colour changing. I’m pretty good with dye, but I’m testing out some paints I’ve seen going around soon!

 

@Chameleon I think after the Obsidian order, I will see if Merrydollround will open a pre-order for a complete doll, but after that I will stop buying for a very loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. And maybe I will sell something. I think I have too much XD

Do you have already a project in your mind for the obsidian twigling? With the dye and everything?

 

MDR has a Zuri preorder launching Tuesday, which is going to destroy me. My obsidian girl might be getting a head that was not originally obsidian (OG ingenue, and I did manage to find one, luckily enough!) The Dyemore appears to have really prominent overtones that won't match, so I'm testing out a sandable Tamiya acrylic that I picked up the other day. My first colour change experiment is going to be with a spare withdoll body I'm trying to get to the right shade of grey to match a dollshe girl, but if that works, I might use that to recolour my ingenue. My obsidian girl is going to get probably some light coloured tattoo work, but I'm still debating who she's going to be as a character and that's really going to dictate how she turns out!

 

@Chameleon in her IG comments I read that Zuri will be released as a complete doll, so I will wait. Always wanted that body!

Thank you so much! I have a couple project journals up right now for some of it, but a lot of it is so thoroughly unfinished, because of school and my inability to not start her projects haha! And I thought the Zuri preorder was for full dolls this time around (because oh boy would those tans be hard to match with her size), but I guess I'll see. It is a really pretty body though!

 

@Chameleon No no this time is head only! Luckily for you (maybe). Yeah, that body must be mine *maniacal laugh*! Ah, I really love dark tan dolls! I know they are difficult to work on, but... The way colors look on them are so unique and beautiful! I started with a Lillycat caramel Lyse and now... I'm about to buy an Obsidian Twigling! WOHOOOOOOOOOOO!

I will keep an eye on those projects and hope you will find time for new ones XD

 

That’s so understandable! I also really love the way colour looks on some of those darker tans. I plan on Zuri in the dark cocoa or chocolate. I’ve also really noticed gold looks magnificent on my iplehouse ebony doll.

slightly more on topic is that I’m going to be testing my sandable paints for colour change this weekend, which could mean my obsidian girl is done soon!

*pops in after like, a 3 year hiatus,* does anyone know how the sienna tan compares to Iplehouse special real or Luts normal brown? :3

 

Based on this pic I think sienna might actually be closer to either iple light brown or dark brown than special real. (Sienna is beside the purple, and then Raw Umber is the ones on the far side there, which I think are similarish to iple ebony, but a bit lighter!)

 

Oh my gosh I am really close to pulling the trigger on ordering a Teal Elbe.... does anyone happen to have pics of their short waist short leg Elbe (or anyone) standing next to a minifee and DC kid body dolls? And even next to a fairyland centaur? I would love to see how she would look proportionally so I can plan

 

Update: ordered my Elbe today so excited!! Also ordered her some eyes, a wig and shoes

Thanks @Chameleon - she will be the Morrigan (or a Morrigan... not sure if she is the only one yet). So black accessories and feathers and clothes - I can at least start making things for her. She will be my first SD size doll very excited!

Thanks @Chameleon - opted for the Mint resin in the end, and getting some obsidian hands to be gloves for her too (as well as long nail mint hands).

 

I love the idea of obsidian glove hands. My head is also in mint! She's going to be a hybrid of some kind (either with my long awaited dollshe order, or with a supia body, because I couldn't afford another body on that order)

 

Supia are next on my wishlist I think @Chameleon ... the ballerina feet really tempt me!

 

I get that! I was super tempted by the Amadiz body when it was available, so the ballerina body was exciting. Mine is probably going on the 65 though, entirely because her character is supposed to be pretty tall!
