What tools did you use to make this outfit?
      fingers

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
Primarily used my memory of fers to position the tape on my doll to recreate the outfit. I folded lots and lots of strips of tape to get the frills and textures to look like those on a cloth fer. I also used a non-fer jacket as a pattern to start the jacket (which I removed half-way through), then added more tape to complete it.
Also as a side note, the "is this outfit removable?" question half-applies to my outfit. Portions of the outfit are removable - the arm-warmers and necklace are not removable, but the outer jacket is. The skirt portion of the dress is removable, but the upper portion is not.

      What was your concept?
I have been wishing to have fers for my girls for a long time, but can't find the perfect colors for them - also, there aren't too many for MSDs. :) So, I thought making my own would be an awesome substitute! Also, I thought it would be funny to make one for one of my boys. XD

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
My teeth/fingers (for ripping off the masking tape), Masking tape

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
For the top part, I scrunched up the masking tape and pasted it on two big balls of masking tape to make it look like the doll had a big chest.
For the middle part I put on the masking tape sticky side up and rolled more masking tape into little tubes and stuck them on. For the skirt, I stuck two pieces of masking tape together and folded them then repeated that process until I had enough layers.
For the slippers, I wrapped tape around the feet and then cut thin strips and wrapped them around the legs.
For the necklace, I ripped up tiny pieces of tape and stuck them in a circle.

      What was your concept?
I wanted to make a ballet costume.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
      scissors, exacto knife

      Is the outfit removeable?
      No

How did you make this outfit?
First I made sheets of tape "fabric" by laying tape back to back on a board. The once the sheets were made I cut the back half of the bodice out & used an exacto knift for the details. The front part was done the same, except the bosom part had to be molded on to the bottom corset & then backed with tape. The skirt was made taping three sheets of the tape fabric taped together. In order to make it full, I had to go with pleats. The pleats were taped to a masking tape waistband and later darts (triangles) were inserted in the bottom to make the skirt fuller. The sleeves were first wrapped around the doll (stickside out) and then covered with another layer. The rest of the dress is removable. The flower of the dress is made with multiple flower shapes taped on top of eachother for depth, with loops in the back. The hair piece doesn't have loops, just straight pieces for petals and only one layer. (I have photos of all stages if needed :) I used almost two rolls of masking tape for this dress.

      What was your concept?
The picture in the back (drawing) is one I did in highschool. I tried to make it just like that.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Scissors (Small tipped and Large), Pliers, Needle, Pins, unpick, previously made dressform of doll

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
      COAT:
I used two different widths of tape. With the larger of the two, I cut strips and folded them in half, to make four 9cm long panels. I then pinned a panel to the dressform, and then pinned an approximate cutting line onto the panel. I cut out these lines, and then copied that shape onto another panel and turned it over to make two front pieces. I then did the same with the other two panels and the back of the dressform. I used the dressform so that I was able to secure the panels (and later pieces of the outfit) to each other, or to the dress form so that I was able to cut them without the risk of damaging my doll. I then pieced all these bits together to make the main body of the coat, and added the smaller width tape over the top of the original panels to maintain shape and stability. To make the arms, I needed two parts - the main piece of the arm, made of a square panel of wide tape, and then a smaller panel of thinner tape to create the shoulder piece. I shaped the lower main part of the sleeve, and then attached it to the main coat with the shoulder part and more tape. To make the buttons, I stacked folded thin tape on top of itself, and then taped around this to secure it. Using an unpick (or seamripper) I started to push holes into the buttons for threading. I used a very large gauge needle to push the final way through. I then took a length of the thin tape and folded it in half, and cut very thin strips from it as a substitute for thread, and sewed the buttons onto the coat. I then cut buttonholes, so that the coat was able to be attached and detached at will.
      BOOTS:
The boots were made with a thick sole to aid in standing the doll up, which was constructed from a stack of folded wide tape. I traced around an existing shoe i had that fit my doll, and then cut the shape out of the pile of tape. I secured this with the thin tape. I then made a cylinder of tape, and cut an arch out of the lower part so that her foot would fit through, and then taped this to the stack of tape. Following this, I made some small arch shapes out of folded tape, and taped these onto the sole to create the shape of the boot.
      HAT:
I made the hat by folding a large, square panel out of the wide tape, and lightly tracing around my dolls headcap, to estimate the size of hole I would need. I added 1cm around this central circle, and then cut around them both to create a ring. I then made struts and taped them over her head, so as to create the central shape of the hat. I then taped over these struts to hold the shape. The upturned brim was a long piece of folded tape folded in half again and then taped around. Once attached, I scrunched the brim so as to make it appear more lifelike. I then added a strap that runs under the dolls headcap, so that the hat is firmly attached to the head.
      UMBRELLA:
For the umbrella I made struts, and secured them into a star shape, which I curved and covered with more tape so as to form the general shape of an umbrella. The handle is made from rolled tape.

      What was your concept?
I wanted to make an outfit that would be recognisable for what it was, even though it was made of tape and in black and white. I also wanted my photo to be a recognisable scene that people would relate to. I chose the traditional children's yellow rain coat, hat and boots idea because I felt that it would be the most recognisable, and also the easiest to use after the contest, as the tape is water proof as long as it isn't immersed in it! I came across the idea when looking at my bookshelf trying to think of ideas, and I remembered E.H.Shepard drawing of Pooh in his yellow coat, hat and boots, and I felt that it was a very cute image.

Scissors, a leather punch, a pin and a scrapbooking leaf punch that also embosses.

      Is the outfit removeable?
      No

How did you make this outfit?
The skirt was sections of 2" tape that were punched with all sizes of the leather punch to give a lacy, lichen-like effect. The tape was trimmed with scissors to the rough shape and then the edges were punched again. When the panels were done they were crumpled and rolled to make them look softer and less stiff. The bodice was embossed leaves that are two layers of tape. The layers were put on wax paper to be punched and then the wax paper was carefully removed. They were then layered over the skirt to make the bodice.

      What was your concept?
Fauna is a Sprite and I wanted to create a fey/tribal look for her. I also wanted her to look she was the size that she actually is, ergo the size of the leaves.

How did you make this outfit?
The top was made my making a layered fitted over the bust of the doll, then making it smooth by layers of tape. The long skirt was made with a base of flat tape, then the "frills" were made by sticking the bottom of the tape together and curling it around itself (Sorry if that's a bad description... It's hard to describe how I did it) the short skirt was made the same way. The neck piece was done by taking a piece of tape (stick side out) and taking two smaller pieces of tape folded over each other and sticking them to the tape. The belt was a larger piece of tape folded in half. The bow was the same size tape folded and only stuck together and bunched at the bottom. The ribbons are a big piece folded in half, curled and held until they held a slight curl.

      What was your concept?
I was inspired by dresses from the Victorian England era. Other than that I just kind of made the dress as I go... I didn't know what I was making when I started and didn't know how it would turn out until I was done.

How did you make this outfit?
First, I made a bustle shape by wadding up tape. I attached the bustle to my doll by creating tape ties that allow for the piece to be detached. Next I made sheets of masking tape and cut and folded them to fit the doll's torso. To make the lacing on the back, I poked holes in the tape with small pointy scissors. The string part is made from a thin piece of tape that I twisted and strung through the holes to make the top piece removable. For the dress part I made another large sheet of masking tape and attached masking tape ruffles to the bottom. I wrapped this large sheet around the doll's waist to create the dress part. Lastly, I made the hat and taped tape roses to it.

How did you make this outfit?
For the skirt and the cloak I removed the adhesive with Goo Gone, then taped the strips into a larger piece of "tape cloth." I layered the tape and cut long strips to make thongs to tie up the belt for the skirt and the vest. Made a fur collar by shredding the tape and sticking it to the cloak. Made a tape spear and tied tape feathers to it with a tape thong. Took many layers of tape to make the soles for the sandals and tied them on with thongs. Made a tape thong to wear under the skirt. Can't have things hanging out, after all. ^_~

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Scissors, soap 'n' water (to wash off some of the serious stickiness), and... I think that is it.

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
NOTICE: Her stomach jewel is glued on! It is part of HER and is NOT an accessory. Honestly, I wish she didn't have it for these photos... I had it covered with a piece of tape the same size as the jewel, but at some point the fleck of tape must have fallen off. Please do not look at the jewel any more than you look at her thick eyelashes. She is just flashy by nature.

After I got my concept, I did a few LOOSE sketches to get some general shapes I wanted. I then began making the pieces. First, I washed several yards of 1/2" masking tape in soap and water to remove some of the stickiness. I needed to keep some of it, but I didn't want to get my doll goopy. Next, I sat down and watched "Cast Away" as I spun the yards into "rope" (most of which went into a skirt that was supposed to be worn under her "armor" but looked too bulky in real life). After the rope was made, I folded 1" masking tape in half, the cut down the middle again to make thin "straps". These I was able to weave, starting from a corner and working out, into a large "piece of fabric." To make sure this didn't UNweave, I lined the back in 2" tape.

With the weaving done, I made the shirt and part of her... butt flap. I made her crotch flap out of a thicker weave to add texture and to avoid being to matchy-matchy. Next, I made the "wings" on her butt-flap (originally these were to go on her hips, but they looked weird) by cutting pieces of my "rope" and sandwiching them in between pieces of my 2" tape. Cut into shape, and poof, wings. The front flap was made in a similar way. Next, I taped the 2" stuff to itself, and cut out "scales" for the butt-flap. I also cut up pieces of "rope," stuck them on the 2" tape, and made two more "armor" flaps to go on front of the butt-flap to match the one I would make for her arm. I trimmed a small piece of tape to go across the top as finishing, and then secured the piece to "rope" so it would tie onto the "front flap."

The bottom is basically a thong where the "butt-flap" preserves my dolls butt-dignity.

With the top and bottom finished, I made accessories. She has an arm guard made of "rope" and "straps" (the 1/2" tape folded over onto itself), and ties on in two places. I then made sandals. One laces up to the knee; one laces to the ankle. It looks cute. Put a couple of "straps" together, and had to tape them onto her head because the ties kept pulling her wig off. She had a face mask, but it wasn't as well made, so I scrapped it for the final photos.

And, I think that is it. No fooling, outfit took about six hours!!!

      What was your concept?
Before I even thought of a concept, I knew that I wanted to have a lot of different textures, so I washed some tape and played with what I could do. I discovered that weaving, braiding, crocheting, and boning worked, so once I had my techniques I thought about what sort of costume would use all of those. Fantasy! As I played with the weaved tape, the easiest part to work with (but the most time consuming to make), I draped what looked like a samurai shape over her shoulders and... poof! Video game ninja girl! Cute!!!

Scissors, tiny crochet hook, hands and fingers.

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I laid out strips of tape and overlapped them to form sheets, then taped over the sticky sides to form a nonsticky sheet that could then be cut with scissors into assorted shapes, many of which I cut darts into so that they could be folded over to form cones, curves, and other three-dimensional shapes. I shaped each individual part of the armor separately, taped over them multiple times to add bulk and dimension, and then taped them all together, and taped the result onto a long backing strip that winds around the doll torso and can be taped in the back to hold it closed. The epaulets attach to the neck piece which is taped closed but, like the armor and skirt, can be taken off simply by peeling off one or two pieces of tape. The boots are completely removeable as well.

The decorations were made of twisted strips of tape, arranged just so and then taped into place.

The shoes were made by cutting pieces of tape to approximatley the size of the doll's foot, and then building upward from there.

Other pieces like the sword hilt and some of the little round bits were made by scrunching tape together and rolling it into balls, and then covering them with more tape. To try to keep edges neat, I burnished them down with the back of the crochet hook.

      What was your concept?
My concept was fantasy armor because I've played a lot of RPGs and read a lot of fantasy novels. I thought masking tape would be a good tool for making doll-sized armor because the mild stickiness promotes shaping and building without worrying about seam allowances or sewing, etc.

scissors and my dining room table

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
The bustier I made by first wrapping the torso in tape sticky-side out then layering it the opposite direction sticky-side down. I cut it off shaping the bust and added details and the straps. The skirt was made up as a "sheet" of tape sticky-side to sticky side and then cut the pattern of a skirt stuck it together and added details. The "Pantihose" are tiny strips of tape carefully criss-crossed from thigh to ankle. The shoes are also made from tape "sheet" and cut from a pattern. The heels are rolled up off-cuts. The hat was a final addition and the feather boa is fairly self-explanatory... no Art-deco outfit is complete without glamour fan shaped earrings or the modesty of matching panties!!!

      What was your concept?
I picked a silhouette I liked and based it around the art-deco period of fashion. Using elements from the period to add simple but expressive details like pin-stripes and pleated ruffles. The hourglass shape was a natural choice given the difficulty of the medium.... The boa and pantihose were the result of a long movie on the couch and too vivid an imagination ;) And of course the panties were a must for her modesty!!

Scissors, Craft Scissors, Art knife, Cutter, Ruler, Knitting tools, Eyeleteer, Tweezers, Cottonbud and Toothpick

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
First I stick many pieces of masking tape's sticky side together to make them like a fabric

      For the Dress :
I make an upper part like a corset by using prepared 25x7cm unsticky masking tape and cut the lower little bit to make it fit the breast. On the back side, I use an eyeleteer to make the holes and make a ribbon

To cover the corset, I make 5-6 pieces of narrow ribbon, and leave the sticky part a little bit and stick them together layer by layer

The skirt, I make 50x30cm unsticky masking tape and leave the sticky part for 2cm. Make an 60cm rope by twisting a masking tape ribbon. put the rope under the sticky part and roll it to hide the rope. And then hold the rope and pull the skirt down (Like a curtain.)
On the back side. Knit the masking tape to make a wide ribbon and attach it by the rope

      Making Shoes :

I wrapped the doll in masking tape to get the form of the body. I cut it apart to get the shapes. I then cut the shapes out of doubled up tape and taped all the seams together. the skirt was folded and tape to waist band. I add ruffles made from half circles of de-sticky tape. I finished of by adding decoration. the lacing on the corset is made by twisting masking tape into long thin strips.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
scissors, exacto knife, knitting needles, a pencil

      Is the outfit removeable?
      Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I folded tape to make the pleats for the bottom half of the shirt and stuck them all together with more tape. I tried and failed to remove the stickiness from the tape, so I had to tape the front and the back of the pieces to make large non sticky pieces. I then cut out the top half and attached it to the pleated section with even more tape! The buttons were made buy carving circles directly into the roll of tape. Each button is made with several layers of tape to give them thickness. I pierced two holes in them with a needle to make button holes.

To make the skirt, I once again made panels of tape. The front is made of three panels and the back is make of two. The middle front panel has a hounds tooth pattern. The hounds tooth was made by cutting out the shapes from the roll or tape and sticking them to the panel. The panels were attached to the shirt part with a thin strip of tape that became the belt.

The scarf was made by cutting strips of tape and rolling them into "yarn". I used knitting needles to make a scarf out of it. It was probably one of the stickiest things I've ever done. I cut the broach out of the tape. The threads were made my rolling a very thin piece of tape and then tying knots in it.

There are also sandals that aren't featured in the photos. They have flowers with some knotted threads coming out of them.

Though this outfit is made to be removeable, I haven't actually removed it because I am terrified that something would happen to it if I did. It should open on the side seam and come off easily as one piece, minus the belt which must be unwound first.

      What was your concept?
I wanted to make a girl's outfit. I wanted to use crisp, clean lines. It was a huge challenge with masking tape. It wrinkles so easily! The tape is all one color, so I thought straight tape would be a little boring. I wanted to use various textures to make the dress more visually interesting.

I started by layering tape into a "fabric" with the sticky sides facing together. I then cut the shapes of the bodice, skirt, and bow. After fitting the bodice, I pleated the skirt and bow pieces and attached them to the bodice with a liberal amount of tape for security!

      What was your concept?
Avante-garde haute couture... in masking tape.

How did you make this outfit?
The basic fabric was made by laying out strips of masking tape side by side with the sticky side up and then laying tape sticky side down across those strips. I then made the skirt with 3/4 of a circle (I left out the last quarter because it made the skirt stick out too much. I then made the top in sections by sticking the tape to the doll and carefully peeling off and putting tape on the underside. Each time I put it back on, I added more to the top. Finally, I cut out the oversized collar, cut out some "darts" and taped the remaining part together so it curved in toward the doll and secured it to the dress by tape.

      What was your concept?
I was going for a cross between 50's movie star glamour (think Marilyn Monroe) and a 50's idea of futuristic dressing (think Jetsons).

How did you make this outfit?
The "lace" edges of the chemise were made with a hole punch and knife, then the chemise gathered directly onto the doll. The free-floating top and bottom of the corset are made from several layers of tape for stiffness. The corset body is made of multiple tape layers cut and applied in fitted panels. The "boning" is thin strips of multi-layered tape. The lacing up the back of the corset is actually laced, a long narrow strip of tape run through holes punched in the free-floating edges. The fishnet stockings are made of narrow strips of tape applied directly to the doll's legs. The roses are made of doubled tape, rolled up in a rosebud shape, attached to stems cut from multi-layered tape. The feathers in the headpiece are strips of tape curled with a scissors.

      What was your concept?
Since my doll started her career as a lingerie model, this was a return to her roots.

How did you make this outfit?
I made the bodice piece first, just making a sheet of masking tape taped sticky-sides together, and fitting it on. The `eyelets` are made with a hole punch, then the ties laced in. The skirt is another sheet of masking tape, this time alternating between the sticky/non sticky sides so that the roses and leaves embellishment on the back (made from twisted/curled tape -- the necklace and hair decoration is twisted tape too) can stick. It's attached to the bodice with a masking tape `belt`, which also attaches to the ribbons down the back (just removing the belt makes the dress removable). The ruffles were made by sticking waves of tape to another sticky-sides together sheet of tape, and then cut to fit and attached to the inside of the dress.

      What was your concept?
Romantic whimsy, with a touch of Victoriana, though the more I look at the pictures the more it reminds me of a wedding dress, LOL -- I can just imagine her running barefoot through the grass, skirts swishing, fleeing some stifling marriage!

Trial and error. The skirt was made first, then the ruffles, then the bodice, then the train and finally the butterflies were placed as the final touches. The butterflies and elements with negative space detail are cut out with an Exacto knife.

I like butterflies...there's been a lot around lately and I wanted to use them as a design element.

How did you make this outfit?
Wrapped wider masking tape in layers around the legs to create the skirt, same but in thin layers around the chest to create bodice. I then taped the tape together in layers to make the train (double sided so there are no sticky parts on the outside). The roses are just some tape rolled up, with pieces of tape cut to fit half the roll, and then trimmed to look like petals, then wrapped around in layers. The mask was made by guesstimate, and then taped on. Rose and streamers were taped on the mask too. Bow and fan were made by double siding the tape, and accordion folding it. The train, and mask are easily removable, but everything else would take effort to get off. It took me about eight or nine hours to do, and I am so not good at explaining things. >_<

      What was your concept?
I really wanted to make a mask out of tape, so I decided to go with a masquerade theme. But I liked the roses and trains I had made, so I tossed them in. I was hoping to get a soft, but mysterious look to my doll while she wore the outfit.

I made this outfit by making sheets of masking tape then using those sheets like fabric. For the Fedora, i started out with geting the cricumfrence of the hat then adding the brim of the hat, then slowly molding the top of the hat to the shap of a fedora.

My concept was to NOT make a dress!!!! I knew mostly everyone would make a dress and i wanted to stand out. So my idea was to make a swave mans outfit with a fedora! The outfit consists of a fedora, vest, tie, and slacks. I <3 my Tape Fedora!!

9 hours of work. First, I tried to make straight linen from pieces of tape, taken together, clue sides together. I did not like the result, so decided to make texture by rumpling/crumpling it. Then I made a pattern and tried it on. After it I took it all together and corrected the size on him, decorated and made a cane and a rose. That is it!

For the main part of the dress, I used pieces of masking tape doubled over, and then scrunched the bottom to create volume. I cut strips and then used the craft knife to cut out little pieces to create a lace like effect for the scarf and for the details on the dress.
For the socks I wrapped the tape around the legs. And for the shoes, I used layers and layers of tape for the sole, and then taped thinner sections round to make the straps.

      What was your concept?
My concept to create something pretty & girly - a cute little dress! I was also inspired by some of the spring/summer fashion trends.

How did you make this outfit?
I created this outfit by layering strips of masking tape so that the sticky sides stuck together to make sheets of tape. From there I would cut out the parts I needed to make the pants, jacket, and hat. The undershirt was made using ruffles of tape stuck directly to the doll. After dressing my doll in her new tape outfit I then wrapped the sleeves in more tape to give them strength and bulk. Her cutlass was made by cutting out the shapes I needed from my tape sheets, then wrapping the blade in more tape to make it stiff.

      What was your concept?
Avast ye scallywags! I wanted to create a great costume my diabolical girl could wear out on the open seas. What better than a pirate captain suit, complete with feathered hat and cutlass?

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
sissors, scrapbooking creative edge sissors, hole punch, masking tape

      Is the outfit removeable?
      No

How did you make this outfit?
The bodice was made by cutting pieces out pattern style (I did not use an actual pattern, but I've made several outfits before so I had an idea how to cut the pieces) and stuck directly to the doll, then I cut "lace" bits with my scrapbooking sissors to create the trim and added that. I also created lacing by folding the tape over and over itself so there were no sticky sides and crisscrossed it in front. The back has two flaps that I hole punched and laced with more of the tape lacing corset style.

The overskirt was made by creating a sheet of masking tape "fabric" (strips of tape placed face to face and overlapping so there was a large piece of non-sticky tape). I cut out the shape I wanted and attached it around the waist, then folded/draped it and secured the folds with more tape. I edged the skirt with the scrapbooking sissors and decorated the back with crisscrossing tape lacing. I also made bows out of the tape and attached those (the dangling bits of the small bows are still stick on the back so they stick on their own, the large bow has a piece of tape doubled over to hold it.

A simple tape underskirt was wrapped around the doll's legs underneath the overskirt and decorated with tape ruffles and more ruffles were added to the sides of the underskirt.

The sleeves were made out of more tape "fabric" that was fan folded and taped around the arm and then decorated with more tape bows.

The shoes were made by layering lots of tape to create the soles and using tape lacing to wrap around the legs and tie.

The the pigtails in the wig were secured with strips of face to faced tape and secured with a regular piece of sticky tape. This part was a royal pain. :P

      What was your concept?
I wanted something flirty and lacey and sort of period style but different

Made a tape slip sticky side out, padded hips and ass with wads of tape to give him some curves, covered skirt in broad strips to smooth it out, built in wrinkles to imply movement, layered thin tape over skirt keeping seam lines intact. Made kimono fabric out of two layers of broad tape, fitted collar and trimmed fabric to bodice shape, set sleeves in shoulders, distressed sleeves until they draped more fluidly, used 1/8in tape to stripe collar, fitted collar into kimono, fitted inner collar into folded collar, wrapped corset tape sticky side out and then wrapped top later sticky side down. Once the corset is unwrapped it's all removable.

I started with the shirt by layering tape on my doll, then gently peeling it off, once off I covered the inside with another layer of tape so it was no longer sticky and cut it into the shape I wanted it. then I used more layers of tape to make the design on the front (granted the photos loose quite a bit of this detail >,<) After that I went to work on the pants which alone took 2 days of near endless layering and cutting tape and then making a basket weave out of it. Once that sheet was made I started to fashion it into pants which included more layering and layering of tape to fit my dolls lower half. After that I went to town using the extra scraps of woven take to make armor pieces because I surely wasn't going to waste it for all the time i put into it LOL. Then I made the bandana, hood and cloak as well as the tattered wrap (the cloak itself took an entire roll of tape @_@) I then made the leg and shoulder armor and pieced it all together with more tatters and wrapped bits of tape. It took forever, with lots of set backs with things either not working or coming untaped. I think the heat and time spent were my greatest problems, the tape kept popping undone so I'd have to restick a lot of things every day. Heh, But it was SO worth it and FUN!

      What was your concept?
Ermm a kind of nomadic warrior assassin with a bit of fantasy thrown in. I wish I lived near a beach to get some like sand dune photos :O it'd probably look awesome there.. >.> Just picture him in the desert with a camel or something.. XD

4+ rolls of masking tape, scissors, curling iron, patience

      No

How did you make this outfit?
The bodice is cut strips of tape applied directly to the doll. To make the underskirt, I laid out multiple strips of tape, then placed others crosswise to create "material". I then cut and taped this into the correct shape and taped it to the doll. The "feathers" of the skirt are many, many strips of doubled tape (sticky side to sticky side) which were then cut to length, shaped, and attached to the underskirt with, you guessed it, tape. I then used a big curling iron to both smooth out any wrinkles and to shape the strips into a slight curve. I then cut the majority of them in half, up to the attachment point.
The flowers are more of the doubled tape which I cut into circles. I taped three of these layers together then cut into them to create petals which I then "fluffed". The centers are balls of tape.
The headpiece is strips of doubled tape. The face pieces are taped to the back of the head. The rest is doubled tape cut into strips, leaving a solid end to attach to the head. I curled and fluffed these also.

All lengths and widths of strips were eyeballed, because I'm lazy like that.

      What was your concept?
I knew I wanted to do something with a lot of texture and layers. I was worried about how the beige on beige would translate to B&W, so I wanted something that would throw sufficient shadows for contrast.
I took advantage of using a dark skinned doll with the bodice idea. It is the only female doll I own, so I suppose that was a stroke of luck for this competition!

How did you make this outfit?
To make the bust i folded tape so it sticks to itself and held it against doll to make pattern the i made the same piece for the back but cut it in half. Laid sticky tape over the top to make the sides so i could mold it to the doll but that scrunches it up so it did not look good then ran tape horizontal and made two pleats in the front to make it look like a corset. Wrapped it around doll on top of existing tape bust for a smooth look. Then wrapped horizontal rows all the way down to floor to make skirt. Then hand folded tape across bottom and a little bit on top leaving a little sticky and making all pleats by hand so dress resembled fer. Pleats held on by pressing center against tape skirt. Straps made by folding tape and then using another piece of tape to tape straps to inside dress. Doll is wearing tape sandals under skirt but they are very basic. Hair bow also made by hand with tape.

      What was your concept?
my concept is a take on the dollheart fer my favorite dress of all time but hopelessly more then i can afford so i made this for the contest.

How did you make this outfit?
This outfit contains five pieces total; Hat, jacket, skirt, shoes and belt.

It was made by cutting literally over a hundred strips of masking tape (in various lengths) and folding them in half. The strips were then woven into a basket weave pattern, the edges sealed with more lengths of tape. The pieces were then layers, taped for stability in places and finally shaped into the final outfit shown in the pictures.

      What was your concept?
I call this costume "Unanswered Questions that Form the Rose"

Is this a young prince, an immortal sorcerer, a playful jester, or something else? With each woven piece of tape, there is another question left unanswered... and because of those mysteries, you're left with something special. Like a rose... you may never know why it's as alluring as it is, but you like it none the less.

How did you make this outfit?
I started by wrapping tape around her bust (sticky side out) so it was fitted to her, then put another layer of tape (sticky side against sticky side) to 'finish' th ebust portion. Then i took thicker tape (sticky side out again) and stuck it to the lower portion of the bust and layered them to make the skirt. The ruffles were made seperately before being attached. To make the ruffles, i took long strips of tape and folded them in half (so no adhesive was out), then ruffled them. i taped each ruffle in place, then attached them to the skirt (with more tape ^.~) The bows, bracelets, and choker were all made the same way (folding tape on itself), then tied and/or taped in place (braclets, choker, dress bow).

      What was your concept?
When i was looking for ideas, a friend of mine showed me a ruffled dress that i really liked. I worked from the idea of a fitted top with a ruffled skirt, and had fun from there =]

How did you make this outfit?
I made the pleats by folding wide masking tape on itself, leaving a narrow strip of exposed tape. Then I layered the strips on top of each other, adhering them with the strip of exposed tape. More tape on the back reinforced the structure. I made a waistband by also folding the wide tape on itself, making slits in the exposed strip of sticky tape to accommodate the curve of the skirt. The top was made in much the same way a fabric top would be, except that I used tape for the seams instead of stitching. The bows were made in two pieces: one for the main portion of the bow, and a second for the trailing ends of the bow.

      What was your concept?
I really wanted to do something with pleats, so a schoolgirl uniform was the first thing that came to mind!

I made the corset and pantaloons out of masking tape "material", stuck together with more tape. The birdcage skirt was constructed by curling tape around a chopstick (and then pulling the chopstick out) to make the supports, and "sewing" with tape, and the birds themselves are origami.

      What was your concept?
A crazy mix of Victorian underwear and a birdcage hooped skirt!

How did you make this outfit?
I used my doll's body like a dress form. There is no tape stuck to my doll. I first made a sheet of masking tape then pleated it for the skirt. The bodice was made by taking it on and off the doll until the fit was right. After the main part of the dress was made, I added detail. The parasol was pretty much the same.

      What was your concept?
I wanted to make something that was ballet inspired.

How did you make this outfit?
First I prepared the frills and folded them so I can attach them faster later on. Then I did made the top. I wrapped some masking tape around her and added the final layer of tape for the top. I made extra parts for breasts and then added a bow in the front and frills on both of the edges. For the skirt I just used plenty layers of frills which I sticked onto each other with masking tape. The top is cut on one side so I can put it on and off closing with masking tape. On the back side of the top, there is also a big bow. I added a neckholder strap and a big bow in the hair.

      What was your concept?
I wanted to make a sweet dress with lots of frill and layers. I did not want it to seem flat and skintight so I tried my best to make it plastic and three-dimensional. The style I went for was inspired by lolita fashion and himegyaru. So basically sweet, frilly, voluminous dresses with bows and lace. To complete this look I styled her wig resembling a big bow.

This outfit was made by making sheets of tape for the dress/cone/napkin, scrunching tape to make ice cream and a cherry, rolling tape to make sprinkles, and cutting tape to make melting ice cream drops and lace.

      What was your concept?
I had started making a wedding dress, when I realized that the sheet of tape for the skirt looked like a waffle cone. So, I changed my idea and made an ice cream outfit, topped with sprinkles and a cherry.

How did you make this outfit?
I started off by making a fitted outline of her jacket then filled the jacket in with a base of flat tape. Then I added texture to it by adding layered tape. I layered the tape by folding a 1/3 of the length of tape up onto itself along the longer side, which leaves 1/3 of the sticky part of the tape exposed. Then I finished off most of the loose edges. The other edges, (coattail, neck and sleeve holes) were finished with leaf shaped cutouts of tape. I made the necktie by making a fitted ring of tape then adding some strips then finished with a crumpled piece of tape and a few more leaf cutouts. The bodice was made the same was the coat was, but without the initial tape outline or first layer, only the 1/3 folded tape. The outer layer of the bodice was made by taping half circle cutouts of tape onto the bodice in an overlapping pattern. The sleeves and shorts' legs were made simply by making a fitted ring of tape around each leg and wrist then attaching tape strips of proper length to the opening in the clothing and the ring. I made the shoes by making a stiff base, then basically making an attached wall which was cut and pressed and folded to fit the foot. Then I added some padding (tape wads!) near the toes to lengthen the shoes without it looking odd and then added the point by curving the extended part of the shoe upward. The leg wraps are just pieces of folded tape that tie on the back of her thigh. The hat started as a thick circle of tape, I cut a hole in it then build the walls up and capped it off. The frill on the hat was made in the exact same was as the necktie.

      What was your concept?
      A ringleader for a circus!

How did you make this outfit?
I started out by making huge sheets of tape "fabric" so that the tape was no longer sticky. I then treated these sheets of tape exactly as I would treat fabric; I cut out my patterns (with no seem allowance) then taped all the seams together. I was determined not to "cheat" and take advantage of the sticky qualities of tape--thus, all my items close with belts made from tape. I made the wings with all the scraps generated from the rest of the outfit and put them together feather by tedious feather.

      What was your concept?
In spite of the challenge of using tape, I wanted to stay true to my own design aesthetic; I love an aristocratic gentleman with a fancy blouse, tail coat and top hat...and I love it even more when the look gets a punk twist! After finishing the outfit, I went for an angel of death feel by adding the wings and creating a scythe for a little extra punch.
