Triathlon Entries - CLOTHES!

Aug 8, 2010

1. Challenge #2: TAPE COUTURE!
For this contest, you will be making an outfit out of beige masking tape, NOTHING ELSE! You may use any width of masking tape in your design, but everything your doll is wearing must be made out of the masking tape (aside from eyes and wig). If your doll is shown wearing shoes, they need to be made of only masking tape!

No painting, dying, or otherwise altering the color of the tape. Your focus should be on the outfit's fit and design!

Your photos will need to be in black and white. Make them as artsy as possible. :)

(You will also need one color photo to submit for the mods viewing to verify that it's all tape.)
Entry Details

Who May Enter?
This contest is open to all members who do not currently have any unresolved transactions or other disciplinary measures in place. Members must have joined the forum before June 25th, 2010.

The contest is also open to all forum staff.

If you did not compete in Challenge #1, you may not compete for the big prize. However, you are welcome to join just for fun.

Rules
1. Minimal use of photo editing, please. We want to be impressed by your creation, not your amazing use of Photoshop.

2. The outfit must have been created specifically for this contest.

3. No posting entries or others photos that are recognizably from the same photo shoot until after judging is closed.

4. Clothes must be modeled on on-topic dolls.

Specifications

You may submit one outfit only.

Photos must be in black and white.
You may submit up to 3 black and white photos of your outfit from different angles. Collages to show detail are okay too! (If you do not know how to make your image black and white, please PM armeleia).

You must provide one color photo for the moderators to verify that your outfit is only tape.
This will not be posted during the competition.

Photos must be sent in JPEG format, 600 pixels on the longest side. Oversized photos or photos sent in the wrong format will be disqualified.

Entries will be accepted from August 9th to 11:00pm EST August 15th. For those of you who are unaware, the US is on Daylight Saving time. Entries received after this time will be disregarded; if you do not know what time this is where you are, use this link.

Entries will be submitted directly to the moderators using this form!
The entry form is not yet available.
Do not PM Truffle or any of the other moderators with your entry; this form is the only way to enter.

If you are not interested in the top prize, please indicate this on your entry form. Do not accept the prize if you do not intend to keep it; it is unsportsmanlike to sell the prize after receiving it and anyone found doing this will receive a Marketplace suspension and be barred from future contests.

Voting

Entries will be posted for member voting from August 16th-August 20th. Votes will be submitted and tallied privately using a new feature in the forum software. The totals will be made available on completion of voting.

Entries will be posted without the entrants' names to try to avoid this being a popularity contest. For this reason, we must stress that identifying your entry to others will lead to disqualification. NO WATERMARKS OR SIGNATURES.
Points and Prizes
This is the second task in the quest for Senior Delf Regen, listed in the first post. Please remember that you must complete all three challenges in order to qualify for the prize. You may join for fun at any time, but you can only win if you have participated in all sections.

Members will choose the best entries in three not-yet decided categories - so there will be three ways to earn points! Focus on making a great outfit you'll be on your way to earning points no matter what categories are chosen!

The scoreboard will be updated in the opening post at the end of each segment.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Masking tape and scissors. Nothing else. ^^

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
First I sketched my design on a piece of paper, then began to work according to that design. The tapes were mostly sealed back to back (sticky sides pressed against sticky sides), so they form some kind of fabric that I can work with, and won't stick. ^^;; To make the square patterns, I pressed them in different directions. ^^b This way, too, I was able to create a fabric big enough to cut and paste. XD I made the skirt in layers so they will stand out in pictures, rather than being all flat. I also created his underwear and pants underneath the skirt. ^^

What was your concept?
My concept is a warrior outfit. It must be simple enough to be worn by a fighter, but detailed enough to catch attention. ^^ I choose Julius, my tan Chalco, simply because of his dark skin. It will go well in contrast with the outfit color.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Scissors to cut the right shapes

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I first did the torso of the dress by cutting long strips of masking tape and taping it on the reverse side (stick side up) trimming parts so they fit the doll nicely. I then cut the tape into thinner strips and placed them around the the torso the right way up. So the top part fitted the doll. I then cut this off the doll to make the rest easier to work with.

I did a similar process for the chest of the dress and the shoes. and then attached to to the rest.

The skirt part of the dress i stuck the masking tape together in strips and then over lapped the nest strip so i ended up with something similar to paper. I then folded this to give it the crimp look and then flattered the top of this to attach it to the dress. To make it more stable the crimped skirt is in four parts then taped together once on the dress.

I did same folding technique for the bows.

What was your concept?
A nice evening dress :)

Two types of scissors, my fingers, lot of patienceโ€ฆ

Is the outfit removeable?
No

How did you make this outfit?
I mixed several techniques to make it. At first I sticked the tape directly to the doll, but later I worried more about it, and I try better ways to do the same.

What was your concept?
The final result has nothing like the first idea I had. But use masking tape was very difficult to me. After my first failure, I try several designs without an idea on mind... And almost without notice, I found myself making a ballerina dress.
I think it was my subconscious the one who worked.

by cutting and taping the pieces directly on her. I know it may not sound complicated but it did take quite a while to complete this dress.

How did you make this outfit?
I taped her body to get a good fitting for the top. Unfortunately, it was falling apart so had to fix it to her body. Then, I made a 'hoopskirt' with tape, to get the shape of the skirt. I draped the ruffled skirt over it, just like with a real dress. To make it look more historical, I made a matching bonnet, shawl and handbag. These are removable too.

What was your concept?
A historical girl going to a spring-tea-party. Or something like that. I love the ruffle dresses of costume-drama movies and so made one to look just like that.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Scissors, pen for tracing, and wax paper for rough draft (not used in final version)

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
First I made a pattern using tape and wax paper to tightly cover the doll like a dress form. Then I drew the basic form I wanted the dress to be and cut it out. I made a fabric of tape by layering pieces of tape sticky side up so the edges overlapped and made stripes in the translucency of the tape. I then covered the 'fabric' with a second layer of tape sticky side down so all I had to work with was a large piece of non-sticky tape. Nothing is stuck directly on the doll. I traced my pattern pieces onto the tape-fabric, cut them out, and taped them together in the shapes I needed to make her skirt and corset. Her purse was pieced together of the leftovers from the tape-fabric and shoe straps.

The shoes were made by folding a large piece of tape over on itself many times, and cutting it to the shape of her foot. The straps were made by folding a narrow piece of tape over on itself into quarters and cutting to length, and attaching to the bottom of the shoe.

Her necklace is a piece of quartered thin tape like the shoe straps, and her crown was cut from some of the left over tape-fabric.

The final design is made entirely of tape, no fillers or other structural enhancers, just 100% masking tape (and maybe some cat hair or lint that unintentionally wandered over).

What was your concept?
My outfit was somewhere between the Ice Queen in Narnia meets suburban dairy princess... She has basic sandals, a reusable shopping bag, lampshade skirt, fitted corset top, and a wicked crown.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
scissors, wooden picture frame to make "sheets" of tape

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I put long stretches of tape over the picture frame with the sticky side down. Then I turned the picture frame over, so that the sticky side of the tape was up. Then I put more tape over the existing "sheet" of tape, sticky side to sticky side, so that I got a non-sticky sheet, which I could then remove from the picture frame.

After that, I drew a "sewing" pattern on the sheet, cut the pieces out and put them together, but instead of sewing them together like I would've with fabric, I used thin strips of tape to hold them together. Then I cut out details, like the collar or the pockets, and attached them with more tape.

What was your concept?
My thought was that many people would make skin-tight dresses, draped directly on the doll, and I wanted to go the opposite road and make something "tailored" yet casual.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Only a pair of scissors and fingers...and the tape, of course. LOADS of tape.

Is the outfit removeable?
No

How did you make this outfit?
I used my fist to make a mold for the helmet part -yes, I taped my own hand in a fist- then when the massive heat melted the glue of the tape, I could take it off my hand, and re-tape the insides, then add the details. The body gear is half removeable half not. The main suit is removeable but the inner clothes (you can see the neck of the inner clothes in the pic without helmet) are not.
I taped over tape and over that tape I taped it again to more tape to make thick parts of...tape (lol how much tape) and use them as belts, gear parts and details.

What was your concept?
1969, first step of a Man in the Moon,
2010, first step of an Alien in the Earth.

I wanted to show a kind of alien space gear, as in the sci-fi films, but adding a retro feeling to it, like those retro-robots that are sold as toys.

Is the outfit removeable?

How did you make this outfit?
first I made a layer of tape. turned it around and tape a new layer of tape to the sticky side so I had a big peace of tape that didn't stick to my doll. Then I took my paterns out and draw them on a the tape, cut them out and erased the last pensellines. That I layed the tape on my doll and started putting tape on it so it would get into a model. For the train I made little pellets and stuck it on for a ruffled effect. For the border I used some leftovers and put them in the butterflypuncher and stuck them on a peace of tape that I punt on the bottom of the skirt.

What was your concept?
I wanted to make a rococo like dress

I started with a drawing of my design, then made a basic dress shape on my doll. After that, I cut out the curves on the edges, and added details. I made the mask in the same way.

What was your concept?
I went for a general 'couture' look. Pretty much; useless, but cool to look at.

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I made the top of the outfit by making a normal tank top and layering pieces of masking tape to make certain parts look thicker than others and like armour. I made the pants by making a big square of masking tape and cutting into a regular pants pattern then taping everything together. I also layered a couple of pieces of masking tape together to make the sword and handle of the sword. The hat was made by making a big square of masking tape and then folding it to make an origami style samurai hat ;). The sandals were made by tracing my dolls feet and cutting out the shape, then adding thin strips of tape for the straps. I used scissors to cut all of the pieces to the shapes I needed.

What was your concept?
My concept was based on a Samurai warrior.

scissors and a tile tabletop to make the pintucks for the ruffles

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I made the basic long skirt first. Then the basic top, which is sort of a modified tank top. Then I cut long strips of tape, and made a pin tuck horizontally in each one. I then made small gathers in these long tapes with my fingers, so that when finished the long strips were only 1/2 the original length, and resembled ruffles. The ruffles were applied to the front and back of the top, and to the split of the skirt in the back. Ruffles were then applied to the bottom of the skirt, and to the shoulders pieces. Two tape flowers were added to the front of the dress, just below the shoulder ruffles. A choker was made by folding a narrow strip of tape in half, then adding a small tape flower in the front. Choker fastens in back with a small piece of tape. A clutch purse (it holds stuff!) was made from tape, and a small tape flower added to the flap. Last of all, tape slippers were applied to feet.

What was your concept?
When I read that the pictures were to be in black and white, I thought of old black and white movies. This dress is similar to the ones I see in the old black and white movies my Dad watches. It was not modeled on any particular dress, but is rather a combination of different dresses I have seen in these movies, and my own imagination.

Made 'fabric' piece of cloth, and then cut the pieces out and taped them together as if sewing them. For the fur I crinkled up the tape to give it a textured look.

Scissors, Exacto knife, doll face mask and a long metal stick

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I first made the mask and used a face mask for size reference and added the long horns by taping up a pair of horns and sliding the tape off. I then made the skirt similar to Roman Warriors style with the long stripes of tape. Then I added details like edging on each strip and along the top. I also added details of dangling straps. I then made four half moons and stuck them together and folded them into a shoulder armor shape attached to each other by a double chain. I also added some long pole like objects along his back. I also made him some warriors sandals by outlining his feet and then wrapping them around his feet with long strings of tape going up his calf. Finally I made him a huge sword which I cut huge pieces of tape and kept reinforcing them until I had a nice weapon, with edging details such as a hilt guard, hilt and tapered edge.

What was your concept?
I wanted to make my guy a warrior due to his muscular physique. I loved the idea of him having a fierce mask, huge sword, rocking shoulder armor and all in a cute skirt. Real men wear skirts to kick butt!

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
scissors, and an exacto knife

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I layered the tape, creating two nonsticky sides. From there I made my outfit peices. I then taped my peices together along the seams. From there when placed on my girl, I taped the seam as if I was doing a zipper or some other closure. This was effective in getting the fit right because I can remove the outfit and put it back on.

What was your concept?
I went ohhh tape!!! And made an outfit I would like. This is an original design by me. . . ..

4 layers of tape were used as well as lots of time. The set was also a challenge to make. Basically everything (the dress, the sandals, the bracelet, the crown, and the set) was all just time and tape.

What was your concept?

I first wrapped and formed the outfit to the dolls body then carefully cut it off and reinforced it will more tape to make it able to be worn without sticking to the body. The detailed additions were cut by hand and taped in place.

What was your concept?
I wanted to do something elegant and stylish, but could still work with the vintage idea for the shoot. Steampunk just seemed to work well.

How did you make this outfit?
I lined the doll with tape facing outwards and then worked layers over it to make sure the tape didn't stick to the doll. I used origami method for making texture and body for the design.

What was your concept?
Since the challenge was made in one solid colour, for me it was all about texture. I found my inspiration from origami and insectile forms, but wanted to make the dress very haute couture.

I basically created the outfit on her, one layer at a time, till I found the right shape, then pulled it off and put tape on the back of it, so that it wouldn't stick to her.

What was your concept?
A dress design that I drew a while back, that I had hoped to make one day.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Big pair of straight scissors, small curved scissors, a stick, the floor, my hands, my feet and my nose.

Is the outfit removeable?
No

How did you make this outfit?
I started by making a protective layer out of tape with the sticky side out, and then started layering tape on that into the shape I wanted. I made a flared skirt as a base. I then made a big square out of tape By laying out some horizontal strips of tape and taping them together with vertical strips of tape. I folded this around my base and cute it where needed, attached this to the base with more tape. I put a strip of tape as a front panel all the way across the dress, which I lined with folded bits of tape. I then layered strips of tape with the sticky side out across the stick to make the sleeve. I made some extra strips for the ends of the sleeve, and decorated it with a single strip of tape that I cut small triangles from. I cut the sleeve open, put it around her arm, taped it together and then taped it to the dress. The dress cannot be taken off and put back on without damaging it. For the cape I made another sheet of tape by taping vertical and horizontal strips together. I cut it in a rough wing shape, after which I finished it of by taping a strip of tape around the edge (to "hem" it). I cut the flower shape out of some left over tape and stuck this on the cape as a sort of fastening. The cape can be removed and put back on.
Out of tape with the sticky side out I made a wigcap. I made "hair" out of twisted bits of tape, which I stuck to the cap. I had four longer strands of "hair", which I folded in loops and taped to the back of the cap. out of folded tape I fashioned a halo, which I then taped to the wig. The halo can be removed and put back without damaging, the wig can come off and be put back on without damage too.
The wing was made by using a folded bit of tape as a base to stick the rest to. The feathers were made by layering tape onto the base and then cutting them at the tips, into feather shapes. For the final details of the wings I took a strip of tape and cut feather-shapes into them and stuck this on top of the rest. The wing is attached to the dolls back with a bit of tape and can be removed without damage. Basically only the dress can't come off without damaging it.

What was your concept?
Since the challenge was with painters tape I wanted to create something that had to do with muses or inspiration. This particular doll is my main source of inspiration, which is why I picked her. She is my muse, so I decided I wanted to make her into a kind of angel, since inspiration seems to come from a different plain, it's often hard to grasp just where the inspiration has come from.
Basically I wanted to make my muse into a Muse, and I had been playing around with the idea of dressing her up as an angel for some time.

I built the dress in layers. Each section of the skirt has its own individually formed frame. I used folded masking tape to make each ruffle. The bodice was done in the same way only using thinner ruffles.

What was your concept?
I wanted a Haute Couture feel for the gown while keeping it innocent enough for the model.

Masking tape of two widths, one and two inch wide; one-inch was further cut into 1/2 and 1/4 widths with Exacto knife. Some strips of various widths were woven into sheets to create a tartan-like pattern; others were braided into 3-D ribbons; others yet were cut in a chevron pattern. The outfit is assembled out of the sheets and ribbons held together with the natural stickiness of the tape.

What was your concept?
This is a court garment of an aristocrat of some otherworldly culture.

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
The skirt is made in two pieces--the flat piece and the frilly piece. The frills were made, taped so they were stable and then stuck together. The top was made using two triangles for the front and a rectangle at the back. It's a halter top, and the neck part has a thin piece of tape tied through hole punch holes.

The shoes were made using a simplified shoe pattern. The roses were made using the 'ribbon rose' technique.

What was your concept?
I knew how to make frills and roses, so I started from there.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Scissors, acetone, and, of course, masking tape!

Is the outfit removeable?
No

How did you make this outfit?
I layered strips of masking tape to create a 'fabric' to work from, then cut out the pieces of the yukata and attached them with tape. Next I made the obi, bows, cord, stockings, and shoes in a similar fashion. I soaked a long strip of tape in acetone to remove the sticky backing for one of the ribbons in the doll's hair. Finally I cut out squares of masking tape and made an origami hair ornament and cranes of various sizes to use in the photos.

What was your concept?
I had the idea of folding origami from the masking tape 'paper' first. From there I decided to do something Japanese inspired that would complement the origami pieces. I decided on a short yukata instead of a full kimono to emphasize the whimsical nature of the project.

Large shears and small scissors (for cutting), tweezers (for placement), pencil and rubber ball (for shaping), candle and empty soda can (for support during construction).

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
The bodice was shaped directly on the doll, then carefully peeled off and lined with more tape. The sleeves were made similarly on a large rubber ball, cut free, and modified slightly for shape and fit. The skirt sections were cut from "sheets" of tape, attached together, and given a few pleats at the waist for shaping. All the "ruffles," "pleating," and "applique" were attached to the sections as they were done. The parasol was made from decorated triangles taped to a hollow tape tube shaped around a pencil.
The outfit comes off in six individual parts: the bodice, left sleeve, right sleeve, skirt, parasol, and choker. The choker even has a tiny tape cameo!

What was your concept?
I looked through my trusty (and well used) Simplicity Halloween 2006 catalog - what spoke to me was some 1895 fancy dress. My outfit is not a direct re-creation; some details had to be altered to account for the tape's reluctance to drape.

What tools did you use to make this outfit?
Scissors, Craft Knife, Masking Tape of various widths :)

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I placed the sticky sides of the tape together to create spans of "cloth" and then crinkled and scrunched them to make them less stiff and to give them some fabric-like texture. I made a pattern from my own design and used other pieces of tape to connect the cut out pieces of the gown together.

I wanted to have a lacing on her bodice, but as I could not use anything but tape, I had to use a craft knife to cut slits and use some "paper folding" techniques to create the lacing. I also used the craft knife to cut lace into the layers of her skirt.

Her wings were pieced together with many layers of tape. I wanted to make them bigger, but without wire or something inside they would be too droopy. They worked out just right at this size.

Her mask was made by rolling some tape to create the stick for her to hold and then adding the mask part to it. I added tape streamers to give it some more detail.

Her other accessories such as her hat, roses, necklace, and earrings are all made from tape as well as the rules state :)

The outfit can be removed and put back on, but it is not easy lol

Not the easiest thing I have every made lol but I have to say it is one of the coolest ;)

What was your concept?
I wanted to create a gown that was a combination of steampunk, goth, masquerade, Victorian, and fantasy. I feel that I was able to achieve just the right balance of the look I was after by using a raven as inspiration.

I really wish I could show the color version since I love the creamy colors.

Scissors, grommet punch

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I used a pattern I drafted for fabric corsets and traced it onto the tape. Using more tape to bind the seams, I created layers on the inside of the corset for stability and to cover up any sticky sections. I bound the center back and then used a grommet punch to put in the holes.
I rolled thin strips of tape into a string to use as the ribbon to tie the corset. I used the same technique for the bracelets and headband.
I pleated the tape to make the ruffle along the bottom and top of the corset and then taped them in place.
The skirt was done in 3 large sections of pleated tape and the inside was covered to get rid of everything sticky.

The fan was a layer of tape doubled onto itself and pleated. I wrapped a smaller strip of tape around the base to finish it.

What was your concept?
A ballerina merged with a slight Victorian inspiration.

Tape (wide and narrow) scissors and every sharp knife in the kitchen drawer to cut through the roll of tape to cross section the heels of the shoes

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I cut and folded long thin sections of tape and wove the fabric for the dress. I cut fringe at the ends and added shoulder straps. I made the hat by using multiple layers of wider tape to form the brim, cut a hole for the head, built up a crown and topped it. I then bent it till it had a wave in the brim. The shoes were made by taking scraps from making the hat brim, trimming them to make soles and then attaching long ribbons of tape to make the ties. The heels were made by cutting through a roll of tape to take out cross sections which I hoped would resemble a stacked heel. I taped the heels onto the soles.

What was your concept?
I wanted an Edward Gorey garden party lady circa 1920. Her feet hurt so she carried her shoes in her hand.

How did you make this outfit?
I started by layering the skirt with ruffles, lots and lots of ruffles, then more ruffles, so many ruffles. About three rolls of tape later I made the bodice by layering tape on a piece of glass and cutting out patterns and strips to make the shape and designs. Next I added the sleeves/jacket, layering tape to get a full look. I then added the corset tying look to the back with the wings. Lastly I made the parasol, which had a rolled tape handle and spokes and then more ruffles.

What was your concept?
I spent a lot of time looking at haute couture wedding dresses, and then wanted to make something in that vein but like a fairytale feel. I thought alot about the fairytale "The Crane Wife".

How did you make this outfit?
Each piece of the outfit is backed by another piece of tape to prevent stickiness on the doll, and then fitted directly on her for a snug fit. Every piece of the "lace" was hand cut to be a consistent size, and the holes were individually punched as well. The hat is made up of a bundle of tape scraps that was then wrapped tightly several times with tape strips to ensure it would keep its shape. The soles of the shoes are each made up of around 200 tape strips stuck to eachother for thickness, which I then cut through with the X-acto knife to fit the shoes to the doll's feet.

What was your concept?
I have always been incredibly inspired by Japanese "Sweet Lolita" fashion, with its cutesy style including ribbons, lace, and bows. The style conveys such femininity and looks delicate even when made out of materials such as tape, which is nowhere as soft or flowing as the lace that normally adorns the dresses. I challenged myself to use the tape in a way to make it look soft and create a dress that would retain the Sweet Lolita style's grace and beauty.

Something a girl would wear in summer in Colorado.

No

How did you make this outfit?
I made panels of “fabric” out of tape and pleated and tapping them on to my doll to make the skirts. Then I folded tape to make trim, butting and decorators and made more panels which I cut out for the top, sleeves, tales and top hat.

What was your concept?
I was inspired by Vitoria dress and the circus.

Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I made the pants, vest and jacket just like regular clothes by making 'fabric' out of tape then cutting it into the right pieces and 'sewing' them together with more tape. The hat, cane and shoes were made by cutting, rolling and folding lots of smaller pieces of tape.

What was your concept?
For some reason I just got the song "Puttin' on the ritz" stuck in my head and wanted to make an outfit that matched the song. A nice suit with a smart hat seemed appropriate.

scissors, Xacto knife, scrapbooking punch

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I made tape sheets by layering sticky sides together. I cut these down into smaller pieces for the bodice the way I would for a cloth dress and then taped them together from the inside. I made little ruffles by folding the tape over and over. I crumpled up the cuttings and wasted tape (this dress was my third attempt - I had intended to make something totally different) and squished and taped them into shape for panier, then made a larger tape sheet and wrapped it around for the base of the skirt. I started layering ruffles and long pieces of tape for folds in the cloth. After I had done all the ruffles, I made tape roses to go on at the bottom of the bodice. I used my housemate's scrapbooking punch to make the lace at the top of the bodice and on the hairpiece.

I did the shoes after I did the bodice but before I put the skirt on. They are a separate sole made of several layers of tape. The shoes are not removable because they are taped to the foot.

I used almost 2 rolls of tape total - 1 1/4 wide rolls and about 1/2 of a narrow roll.

What was your concept?
Silent film Rococo, so it has elements of Rococo style, but it's all Hollywood inaccuracy and no real corseting that would change the body shape.

nothing but tearing, then two snips of scissors to round the overskirt

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
For certain parts I made a "fabric" by criss-crossing tape so it's not sticky on the doll or to the touch. For other parts I used pieces a few inches long and attached them by about a millimeter sticky side up horizontally in a circular pattern, then attached pieces sticky side down to make a complete and smooth fabric. Then I used ruffling or bunching of "tape fabric" to make the details.

What was your concept?
I wanted to make a very flowy yet modern wedding dress, like something out of an expensive wedding catalogue.

Used two layers of masking tape to create large pieces. Then I cut and added them to a main piece that was wrapped around her. More layers were then added as I worked. Trim is braided and folded then taped to the edges and wrapped around. I also made little roses for the masking tape headband along with other cut trim and decorations.

What was your concept?
I tried to fashion this after large and fancy Victorian dresses.

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
I used two different widths and brands of masking tape (which were different weights and slightly different colours as well), sticking it to itself to create sheets for the main portions of the outft, using scrapbooking scissors and an edge puch to get the decorative trim effects. The outfit was made in multiple pieces--an underskirt, an overskirt, a bodice, and detached sleeves, all of which can be removed and put back on the doll with a bit of unsticking of trim, and unfolding on the back of the bodice.

What was your concept?
The idea for this outfit is a little girl in the 1920s playing dress-up in the attic in elements from her grandmother's Victorian wedding gown.

Its made in three parts: the bottom, which is three layers to get the puffy effect and lots and lots of layering to make it look like ruffles and lace. The Top, which wraps around and is spit down the middle, and the Bow, which holds it all together. A lot of layering and layering so that the tape didn't stick to itself unless I wanted it too. The roses and vines are a LOT of rolling. My hands are so tired ;~; a

The bodice was made by layering tape with the sticky side out to act as a base then covered with pieces of tape cut to shape. Next I made a basic skirt shape and pleated skinny tape on to it. It is cut up the back and fastens with tape. The overskirts were made by making sheets out of tape and tearing, cutting, and pleating it to the desired shape, and secured with more tape.

Is the outfit removeable?
Yes

How did you make this outfit?
The creation of my outfit relied heavily on soaking the tape fabric in water in order to get it to do what I wanted. First I made several sheets and strips of tape fabric by sticking it back to back. To make the ruffles and gathered skirts I sewed a loose running stitch by hand across the stip. I then soaked it in water for 20 min., gathered it, then I had to shape the "ruffle" texture by hand. When it was dry the tape kept its shape rather well and I removed the stitches. I soaked most of the pieces in the dress so they would be less stiff while working with them, either before or after construction. Pieces of the dress are taped together on the inside heavily. The outfit took 3 rolls of tape.

What was your concept?
My concept was to create a lolita angel. I originally was planning wings but I ran out of time by the end of the week, so now it is just a regular fluffy dress.
