I'm trans, so my boy Bubblegum is a transboy. Making him girly and feminine and using a 'female' body has really helped with dysphoria
I'm planning on getting a doll whose character is genderqueer! I don't plan on modding their body but presentation wise they will be very fluid. I actually plan on most of the dolls on my being genderless. Being a nonbinary person myself, I guess I just relate better to transgender dolls.
The doll hasn't arrived yet, but the Character I'm shelling with my next doll is a trans woman. I intentionally picked a body that is going to be masculine in shape rather than androgynous. Quite a few friends I know have expressed their fears about not being able to 'pass', and I kind of want to support the message that you don't need to look a certain way to have your gender identity accepted.
I actually do have a few dolls that will be physically both genders, and maybe one or two who will be mentally? He isn't from good old planet earth though, and he is actually well, a 'he', but his tribe is known for being born male and turning into a female, but it is not within his control. He always wanted to be a mother, but was not able to become one. Another (more than three) few characters are actually in between genders, but most will still identify themselves as male or female. I always was interested in gender and sexuality information in general, sometimes I swear humans come up with new things everyday to help identify themselves.
Lol, thanks for having a thread like this! It's so interesting to hear other people's stories about intersex/gender fluid doll. I have my first BJD on the way and I have deliberately chosen a face that can hopefully qualify as "pretty boy" and not just "pretty girl" and a female body sculpt that's very androgynous (the not-to-have-penis or have-to-have-penis question was debated very rigorously). My Bey is supposed to be a fashion model in the story and models primarily women's clothes, but he insists on being a he and he is satisfied with his face and body as is (would like to be taller and less chibi maybe), but I have a hard time even using ze/hir with him when I think of how I would describe him or his actions and going with she/her just makes my brain stall. This will likely be a very interesting experience for the both of us.
I'm trans and intersex, and I'm currently working on a trans boy doll to be like me. I want to buy a female body and mod it into male
I have a minifee head that was meant to be genderless. I was going to get a sexless and androgynous body for them, but unfortunately lost interest in the size so they won't be staying. I never finished their story though so I hadn't fully decided if they were intersex and/or agender, or if they were non-human and naturally completely lacking a sex. the idea of having an agender doll is still very present though. I'm just not sure who it would be yet!
I'm not going to plan my dolls gender identities, I might see them as female and realize later they feel male, or vice versa with a male doll, but I don't think I'll know until they are here. I can also see having a doll that's genderless or bi gender, or honestly anything that happens to be a possibility. I like my characters to decide on there own, I do the same with the characters for my many stories that I write. They just are who they are. I don't really have any plans, but I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility.
I don't currently have a doll for him, but my main doll/character Mike has a younger brother who is trans, and I would absolutely love to get a doll for him, but at the moment I am not exactly sure where to start with the body and what mods I would like to do, because it's an existing character too it brings up the problem of deciding what point in his transition I want him to be at in doll form.
I have a number of trans characters, both binary and NB. I personally don't think you need to do any mods or any sort of body swapping to have a trans character, in fact any sort of insistence that physical mods to gender swap binary bodies is sort of creepy way of saying a trans person is inherently still their assigned sex. And I know that's not the intent, and most mods done with the intent of them being trans characters are done by trans people creating body shapes that remind them more of themselves, which is a really different thing entirely. But as a trans guy the implication that you have to mod a body in order to show a character as trans makes me a little ?????
I know with one of the characters I plan to shell (possibly the next I save for), the doll I'm looking at, I'm looking at because... well, she's a young woman, and between a couple-few years of hrt and just the way that she presents herself, that's how she looks. Narrower hips than some mature bodies but still clearly a womanly shape, a defined bust, and like... even though the character hasn't had surgery nor does she consider it necessary, I feel like the genitals are the least important thing, like... no one's gonna see what she's got in her underwear/under her dress except for me when I'm re-dressing her, so yeah, no resin peen required. Sometimes I like having that last little bit of accuracy but it's not necessary. Besides, it feels less accurate to me to have it just... hanging out there and creating the occasional bulge in clothing.
It really is very interesting how plans change when you get your doll, lol! Although my Mi has a face and body that definitely could be androgynous, she definitely feels like a she to me - even though she would likely wear more pants than skirts. I am seriously considering getting either a Doll Chateau Colin (the new one - love the pink hair!) or a Doll Chateau Hubery because there are so many owner pics that have them as being quite androgynous and effeminate. I would love to somehow find a way to get a doll that embodies my original vision of Bey.
I'm about to start working on an MtF type character. I had him as a boy named Luca, but I just feel like I've never been happy with him. I'm now going to replace his head with a female head I have and do a mod to make the male body a bit more fem and make her into a trans-doll. Not sure how it will turn out though as it will be my first large mod. But her name is going to be Dakota.
I'm currently working on a doll that is a transgender alien. I didn't originally plan on it, but once I got the doll in the post, it seemed like the perfect fit. Don't think I'll do any extra modding for it, though.
I have LGB characters in the works. However, I don't have any plans for a trans or intergender character at this time, but that's not saying I won't create one in the future.
I'm working on a project and my second doll will be transgender. The fact is, it will be difficult to find "the" body I want, because I would love a feminine but musclar body (with a 6 pack or something like that -->), on a MSD plus. In any case, this will be a boy in a girl's body, maybe this character will evolve to non-binary tough.
That's kind of how Dakota's body is going to be after I sculpt on her breasts. I'm modding the Bigger Boy Body by ResinSoul. It's slimly muscular, with a slightly feminine build and abs. I'm still working on the breast mod, there's only one and it's not permenant at the moment because I don't want to screw up and have it be permanent. But it's looking good so far.
Wow, you're good at this ! Good job ! Yeah, that's totally what I have in mind. But I don't think I'm confident enough to try something like this. I suppose I can commission it to someone though ? (still new to the hobby^^) I saw a BJD artist working on an hermaphroditic doll on a french forum where I am. I hope some companies will try too it in the future !
You might be able to commission a mod artist, I wouldn't know who though lol. This is my first major mod, I've only done an elf ear mod on an MSD before this. That would be cool, I can see companies starting to work on dolls that cater more toward the LGBT community eventually.
My genderfluid characters seem to work better in my head but my dolls seem to have very specific ideas as to who they are gender-wise. I am a huge fan of drag though, so I'm planning on having one doll that's based off one of my favorite drag queens.
My favorite line of dolls are the island doll wind island sds, because they have a nice looking gender neutral body and relatively androgynous features. I'd love to have an agender doll, just a question of saving up monies.
I have a ton of trans characters I wish I could shell, but my only doll right now isn't one of them. I've got plans for my next doll (an iplehouse, hopefully) to be nonbinary but that's probably a far off goal. I really would like to see more dolls accounting for various body types, trans people included! Not to mention how bad I want a chubby male doll pfffff
Not really, mine all represent the sex they were made to portray. They don't identify as anything in particular either since they are inanimate objects. People may project their ideas and feelings onto dolls which is why many people have them.
Being trans myself I really like trans characters, and intend to shell a few! I currently have two: Eshne is a trans guy. I didn't want to buy a female body and do a FTM mod 1) because I've never modded a doll and it makes me nervous and 2) the body he's on (Doll Chateau K-12) is the perfect body shape for him without modding. And my second is Ichabod, who's technically a spirit of sorts and doesn't really have a gender, so he'd technically be agender. I only call him he because his name is inspired by Ichabod Crane & I dress him in a masculine manner.
I sometimes have orders to do doll trans. I think FtM its most popular model. I think its wierd and elegant in same time. Here is body what I was modifications. Different type of art.
I'm currently waiting for a doll to shell a genderfluid character. In the original story he did actually have two sets of intimate parts he was born with (he's not a human being anyway, so he's fine), but I'm not sure yet if I want to mod the doll that way, too. I will make female clothes and stuff for him so he could choose to be female when he feels like it. Might even get a second head with a more feminine face up on it. I already feel like he's gonna want some dresses from my lady doll, Icy >0
My boy Zach is trans He's a Unoa Sist. For him, the body he came with works perfectly--as a character, he's has chosen not to pursue medical transition, and the Unoa 1.5 small bust is very androgynous if you dress it that way. Rather than mods, I make sure that he always has a fitted tank top under his other clothes to simulate a binder and smooth out the lines of his torso. I did make a little sculpy packer for him to wear with some pants, but it's not always needed. I had been writing the character for several years before I was able to buy the doll, so I already knew him pretty well and planned out what I want to do him justice in a physical form.
@Wolfie I love his wig! Definitely digging the styling, and it's cool to see a non-medical transition represented in resin and working so well.
Thanks! He's always had a really special place in my heart, and I'm always pleased when I tell people he's on a non-modded body and they're surprised--you can pull off a lot with careful dressing and consideration!
I didn't plan for my doll to be trans but as someone who identifies as trans himself it wasn't a surprise. I haven't modded my doll in any way.
I didn't plan to have any intergender dolls, but when I ordered my first batch of Little Pri and Little Kios from ArgoDoll, I selected the unisex option. I expected this to mean that there would be no genitalia (aka it could be either sex) but it ended up meaning both. So the guys look fairly normal, but the ladies have slight bulges that I must hidden under their gowns! I don't think of them as anything but female, but I guess they would be intergender from a physical perspective.
I'm planning on making a transgender character for a head that I have--I'll get him a male body since the character will have been on HRT for a few years (he 23) but I may mod his body a bit, like giving him a wider pelvis (since biological females have wider pelvises, and he started HRT after puberty) Im glad to see others making trans characters too!
I just got a Doll Chateau Christina that I was planning to mod FtM for one of my characters. Now the doll is here though I am not sure if it will work as planned. The hips are a lot wider than I thought they would be and i'm wondering whether it would have been a whole lot easier to get a male body to begin with. I am going to think on it before starting this process.
I'd love to have a transgender doll in my Iplehouse, and future Supia Doll, Soul Doll and Impl Doll family. But personally I don't understand this fascination with transgender dolls. What is it that makes it so interesting? I worry that some people think that it would have been a cool thing to have in their BJD collection. And that makes me sad. I guess it is interesting for some. But all I can think is, "nooooooo it's not cool at all to suffer from gender dysphoria. It's not something cool...". Sorry I don't mean to sound grumpy though. Right now I feel like I've said something I should not have. But I can't help but reacting the way I do to the transgender topic. But I think it's great that people create characters like that anyway. So please don't stop I just don't want people to think like it's a cool thing to have a transgender character in their BJD collection when irl it is absolutely a horrible thing to have to go through the dysphoria! I suffer from gender dysphoria myself and it sucks But I would like to have a character I can relate to so I decided to create one. I've had it for longer than I can remember, but the gender dysphoria did not cause me that much trouble until a couple of months ago. That's when it exploded, and made me feel very dysphoric. And have been like that constantly since it became very apparent. The gender assigned to me at birth is female. But I'd like to create a BJD character based on the fashion model "Stav Strashko" who is a transgender female. Stav does not want to have any sex reassignment surgery though. She's happy and comfortable with the body she was born with. I'm currently waiting for my Iplehouse boy Rania. He's mainly based on the looks of fashion model "Emil Andersson". But at first I thought about basing his personality/ character on "Stav Strashko". But a character like that needs a more slender model like hybrid body. The Iplehouse males are too buff and too broad shouldered for the feminine and androgyneous fashion model character I have in mind. But I'm also very unsure if my Rania boy should be a female transgender person. I was originally going to name my Rania boy "Sebastian" because that is my chosen male name. Originally I was going to create a male character who represent everything I wish I could have been. I just don't wish to transition for personal reasons though. So maybe I should get another BJD boy sculpt for the female transgender character. I love the Supia boy Giyom sculpt! Um, I hope I didn't share too much information... I'm very openminded about things. I feel almost no fear of sharing things like that. I don't know if that's a bad thing?! I came out as a transgender person to my family and relatives on my FaceBook account like I had no fear of peoples reaction. But I also knew my family is very kind and openminded people. But since we're talking about transgender and intersex BJDs I thought it would be ok to write a little bit about how my dysphoria impact my BJD plans. I really do want a BJD based on myself. It's also a way for me to cope with the emotional struggle the dysphoria causes. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I do live a lot through my dolls, and have done so since I got my very first doll. almyki I know I'm answering an old post, but there is indeed as many ways to be trans as there are people. Me for example go through the difficulties of gender dysphoria and most of the time wish I were born as the opposite sex. I'm always bothered, and often depressed by my female physique. But there are also times where I manage to live with the body I have and don't think so much about it. But even though my gender identity is male, I don't act or have a masculine personality at all. My hair is shoulder long. I wear women's clothing. Pretty much everything but dresses. But I also feel more comfortable in female clothes because my body is female. I don't wear much jewelry either. I only own a wodden heart peace sign necklace, a necklace with a glittery green resin alien head on, and a heart amethyst gold necklace. My room looks like a female's room as well. But it do not change that I still feel like I should have been born as a male. I'm also ok with people addressing me by my birth name, and I choose to be addressed by my birth name because of my female body. Nobody would know I'm trans unless I told them! Sorry for all the posts in a row, but having a transgender BJD is something that is really important to me, and once I started writing I had so much on my mind I've always crossdressed some of my male dolls, but I never even thought about getting a transgender doll until I found myself struggling with gender dysphoria. Ok, so I could not help it... I went and ordered the DZ Devon head in pink skin from Alice's Collections. www.acbjd.com/62cm-devon-head-p-10900.html?cPath=327_336 I think it is a limited head, and could not risk losing my chance at ordering it. I just saw it and knew that this is the head I want for my transgender female character! I just ordered the head for now because I could not afford a full doll at the moment. Once I get it I will pack it away in a box in my closet so that it do not yellow meanwhile I wait to order the body. This is the model (Stav Strashko) I plan to base her character on. blog.urbanoutfitters.com/blog/class_of_2017_stav_strashko Stav is a transgender female, but she is comfortable and happy with the body she was born with and do not wish to transition. It will be the same for my character who I'll name Anya. Anya will get this body as soon as I'm able to order it. www.acbjd.com/dz-62cm-boy-body-b60005-p-9266.html?cPath=327_332 She have a male body because same as Stav she is comfortable and happy with her body as it is. She'll naturally wear female clothes. And my upcomming IH SID Rania boy who I'll name Sebastian will be her older brother. They will both be fasion model siblings. I can hardly wait to get them both home
hi! My first doll's going to be non-binary, and as far as i've seen, there aren't that many trans bjds in general. I was just wondering what your opinions are on them, stuff like that. If you own some, feel free to post photos and whatever else pertains to the topic! thanks! - caleb
There are actually a whole bunch of them if you go looking. Just browsing though the BJD profiles on here, there's a lot more than I ever thought there'd be (there are separate areas for the doll's sex and gender). It's pretty awesome.
Here are a couple threads involving that topic that you may want to look at: Trans oc Transgender/intergender dolls? /threads/sho...ariant-intersex-genderqueer-etc-dolls.483753/ /threads/trans-gender-variant-dolls.520603/ Do you consider any of your dolls andro/ non-binary?
I don't really have characters or stories for my dolls but lately I've been wanting to get a Fairyline doll (Fairyland Minifee with easily changeable parts) but with the male flat chest instead of boobs. I just think it would be aesthetically pleasing and interesting and a nice way to have a more masculine doll that I actually like (for some reason I just don't like guys).
i'm trans and a few of my dolls are as well!! :'D one of my DC Theras is a transboy, but i haven't gotten brave enough or far enough into my transition to feel good about modding him yet, and i have a bluefairy tiny fairy jerome on the way who is also a transboy (i got him on the male body because he's post transition and from the future where surgeries and stuff are more seamless and available, etc.). i have my pipos lloyd too, who i've had for years, but i'm still not sure if he might be genderfluid or nonbinary? he's yet to tell me at least. :p i have a lot of other transboy characters i've yet to shell, too. i'm sure i'll get a trans girl character that i'd like to shell someday too, but right now none of the ones i have are main characters, i think...? i have hundreds of OCs lol.... i think they're really cool, but cis people gotta be careful about fetishizing and resorting to "man in a dress" and "woman in a suit" tropes, and just be respectful when portraying us. otherwise i really don't have a problem with anyone making trans OCs/dolls, i think they're really great!! :'D
I am transgender and have a binary trans doll who has been modded. He's a WIP, but working on him has helped a lot with my dysphoria, actually I also have a nonbinary doll and working on them has helped me with my own struggles re: gender. Trans dolls are cool as long as one is being respectful.
I'm non-binary and I have one genderfluid character and I have one on the way to represent my D&D character, a trans man. I'm going to make a little binder for him.
Almost all of my dolls are trans tbh! trans dollies are THEBEST Funny enough I came out not long after I realized this. They helped me along the self discovery road I guess
I've seen quite a few lovely trans dolls floating around the forum, I think they're wonderful! I don't have any trans dolls myself, though I have a feeling my little yosd Rán might be non-binary. He hasn't told me yet. I do however have an intersex character I want to turn into a doll. She uses female pronouns and looks a bit on the feminine side, I won't be modding her though. That's not my forte whatsoever and I'd be too afraid of damaging her
I used to own my characters as SDs, but I'm moving on to MSDs, so I don't have all of them at home currently, so my trans character isn't among my crew yet. I do, however, strongly intend to buy him again. He used to be an Iplehouse EID Rebecca and his name is Connor. I have plans to shell him again as a JID Benny
I love the idea of trans dolls and I've seen many that are great. My issue with it is that some people would respond to your question by dropping a pic of a male sculpt with a male name and pronouns, in a lolita gown, and call him MtF because "he" likes "dressing up as a girl", or the female counterpart being "She's a total tomboy lol look at her scraped knees, she's so trans". In other words, there are too many people in this hobby who turn trans identities into fetishes and gimmicks, like wapanese do Japanese people. I love trans dolls who belong to people who actually know what transgender means and approach the creation of a trans doll respectfully and intelligently.
I'm in love with this thread I'm nonbinary and most of the characters I create are also some flavor of nonbinary. The one doll I have right now is a robot and she's nonbinary and feminine. I plan to have more in the future!
OMG I loooove Strashko So happy to see someone make such doll Everyone is crazily in love with Prejic, be it companies or particular collectors... I personally prefer the Ukrainian model Much softer and warmer... I mean, natural-looking blond hair and elf-like face... Slavic magic I personally don't need anymore such dolls, but had my moments. For now I just like "theatricality", so I like frills and overdressing regardless of the doll's sex. I have this thing that even if it's a boy, it's still a doll, so "lumbersexual" is out of discussion. Long lashes, full, made up lips, guyliner, long locks and colourful clothes... Call it an 'expression of gender", but for me it's simply a doll, and a doll has to be 'dolled-up', so if it's a boy, he'll look like a boy from Versailles and not a construction site.
I made three posts, but the DOA mods put all three together, and it got so looooong Hehe yes I love Strashko I like her so much more than Prejic! I admire her very much!! My favourite would be "Emil Andersson" though. I'm actually quite envious of him Gender, gender identity and gender expression is real important to me when it comes to my dolls. My dolls are not just dolls to me. They are like little "mini mees"
I don't have any currently but I do plan on shelling a character that is. Amizing from YouTube and Instagram has one named Katie (I think that her dolls name) that is. Ami had bought a male body and sanded down the lower bits.
Back with a recent photo of my first doll, who turned out to be a trans girl! Her name is Niña :3 One day I want to put her on a girl body, I had the perfect one picked long ago but now it's many years discontinued X'D, and money is tight, so for now she stays on her old demongarden body. I did edit her faceup to be a little more femme and got her a dress that fits, but boy there's so much left to do... She's a Leeke LE Cliffe.
I do have Mushi, who's non-binary/gender neutral. The DC K-17 body aides in their androgynous appearance. Mushi by Wolfie, on Flickr
Everyone's dolls are so beautiful I think I'll have to rephrase a bit what I wrote in that long post of mine I don't really agree with what my dysphoria made me say in that other post. I think I got a little bit emotional about the transgender topic. Having a transgender BJD of course is just as cool as any other type of BJD character. The dysphoria part though should not be seen as something cool. It's a very horrible thing to have to gp through... I have just ordered my transgender girl Anya Doll Parts, Doll Zone - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections Doll Parts, Doll Zone - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections Since she's based on the transgender fasion model "Stav Strashko" she will remain on the male body I ordered for her.
My doll is not really transgender, per say, more like she does not have a gender. Zea is an alien from a species that has no concept of gender or romance. The concepts are entirely foreign to her entire species. They do not have "parts". They reproduce by meditating (kind of hard for me to explain). There can be any number of parents from one to essentially infinite. If there is more then one parent, some kind of physical contact for the DNA exchange is required, usually hand holding or hugging. Her society never developed any sense of gender identity or gender roles. Zea however does use she/her pronouns and her presentation tends to lean feminine. The sole reason for this is she happens to gravitate more toward stuff that's seen as more feminine by human society. It doesn't mean she has any internal sense of having a gender. So she would probably be considered agender, but I wouldn't say that she's transgender since she is entirely typical for her species. She's kind of like the Gems in Steven Universe, I guess. Let me know if any of this is in some way offensive to transgender people since I am not trans myself.
I have a doll on the way who I’m planning to be nonbinary and use the same pronouns as me, they/them! I’m super excited tbh!
