Tokyo in Tulsa 2017 BJD events

Jun 22, 2017

    1. Don't know how many people already knew about this, but the Tokyo in Tulsa anime convention to be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma next month will be holding a few BJD events.

There is going to be Doll 101 Panel and a BJD Swap Meet. Last year there was a Doll vendor as well.

There has also typically been a BJD Pajama Party, but I don't see it on the schedule... I'll update if I find out it is still happening.

    2. The intention is to still have the pajama party, but we don't have a time/location for it just yet. Con scheduling has been giving us a real run-around with getting our panels booked this year.

    3. I just looked at the schedule and why is there no bjd anything going on Saturday? Both bjd events are sheduled for Fri and Sun. :'(

    4. That is what one of the Assistant Directors told me as well.

The Slumber Party is officially Scheduled! It will be from 11pm until 2am in the International Ballroom at the DoubleTree hotel! Hopefully my little one's PJs arrive in time. My MSD already some.

On that note, are we supposed to be in PJs ourselves? Or just our dolls?

There will be a Slumber Party on Saturday from 11pm to 2am at the DoubleTree hotel, in the International Ballroom.

    5. For the Slumber Party, it's sort of anything goes. You are welcome to wear PJs, just make sure you're decent. I usually bring a couple of dolls in pajamas, myself.

    6. I can't wait to attend!

    7. I'll be wandering the con with a doll or 2 at times

    8. If there are any dolls in my list that you want to see, please drop me a convo and let me know. I sort of have a preliminary list in my head of who I'm going to bring, but requests get priority. :D

    9. I'm bringing my dolls! Is there anything dolly to do Saturday? I know the slumber party is going on but I'll b gone by then. Anyone wanna meet up?

    10. Yeah! That sounds fun! I can't make it to the slumber party either and I've been looking for something to do on Saturday, hoping to hang out with some dolly people.

    11. We can definitely meet up on Saturday! It might be easiest to grab some space over in the Aloft hotel for that. Need to peek at the panel schedule again and see if there are any I want to see around cosplaying.

    12. I'll have this guy with me while I'm wandering around~

    13. I'm not sure if anyone is competing in the cosplay competition, but would 1PM on Saturday be a good time for a meet?

    14. Should be good for me.

    15. My YoSD's pjs have not come in yet, so should I leave her at the hotel?

    16. No, bring your YoSD! PJs aren't required for your dolls, they're just sort of a fun addition to the slumber party.

Working on a few last-minute games. While I don't think we'll have a projector, we can play Guess the Sculpt with dolls that are there!

    17. I'm planning to come to the panels, but not sure about the slumber party. I'll be bringing my yosd, who I've bought and sewn (still sewing actually...) new outfits just for the occasion!

Any tips for what to expect with a bjd at tnt?

    18. That would be interesting. I had to translate the kanji on my MSD to figure out her sculpt because she was an impulse purchase. XD

      On her COA I mean

    19. I'm sorry to say it, but I did not have a very fun time at these events... the BJD 101 panel was enjoyable, but I felt rather invisible at the other two events. I can't get around easily, so putting myself out there is hard, and only a few people seemed to notice my presence even when I was literally in the middle of the room.

I'm not sure if this was because I am a newcomer, do not have very many dolls, or simply because I was unable to meander around like everyone else, but regardless, I did not feel very welcome in the local community...

    20. If it means anything, I had a great time at the convention. People were friendly and the ladies running it were lovely and I was so happy to meet them. I really hope that I get to do the same next year and hang out with everyone again.

    21. *dusts this off as she hasn't used this in forever*

It was fun, and we'll play it by ear next year, constructive crit is welcome and we'll work on improving what we can by working with the con staff. That being said, I'm glad you guys had fun and I have one plush onigiri left. You guys actually cleaned me out this year. LOL

Now I gotta make more! Maybe I'll get a head start for 2018. Maybe. >>

    22. I had a great time this year! I have to say, there are lot of people in the hobby that are shy, and I may not say hello if I see people are in groups, so if you didn't feel like you meet everyone, that might've been the case. Maybe name tags or a little circle of introductions would help?
Anyway, it was my first time taking a bjd to a convention, and I think I'll try to do it again when I can. It was lot of fun!
