Tokyo Dolpa 33

I think it was almost this bad before we had Volks USA, but at least a few would win. :-/

 

Nope, I can't remember any such time in the last 10 years! There have always been plenty of international winners on DOA since I've been around. Ever since Yukinojo's lottery, xmas '05, which I think was the first online-VolksUSA lottery.

(And I myself have almost always won the lotteries I entered for in the past 10 years, too, so this is how I know that the Volks Faeries are no longer operating by their usual rules.... ;; )

 

I'm wondering if Volks is deliberately making smaller limited editions, so as not to have "leftovers" like in the past. Kondo, Shizu Darling, Satan, Devilman and the Chika and Isao Cyborg models are still available on the Japan website. Though why they'd want to encourage the secondary market, I dunno.

 

I'm not sure what Volks trying to do but there is mafia working at Dolpas for secondary market. And they know this pretty good. We frequently noticed a lot of Chinese at Dolpa, but at this Dolpa it was just over the board, we heard from Japanese that they also hire local homeless people to stay in line for them. So this time those homeless people were pretty rude, they break the rules, yelled at people, jumped in the middle of the line for more drawing opportunities and so on. It was really crazy and now I don't want to go to secondary market and support this mafia. Number of Ami was somewhere around 200 and looks like most of them went straight to Y!J and this is really sad! I had 650 number and Yo-boys were still available, though by 732 number only Yo Shiro and Mikuzukin set were left.

 

Dang! If only I had known our chances would be THIS crappy this time, I'd've just jumped on YJ before the prices got psycho.... This is the first time any form of Shiro has missed coming home here. ;;

I didn't know they had so many 'leftovers' of all those dolls, [MENTION=12518]beamlette[/MENTION]; maybe if they offered them for sale in more outlets, they'd get 'em sold.

 

Ugh yeah. I remember being in line for the limiteds and I was so appalled by how the scalpers had an obvious army with them. It was really frustrating.

 

Thing is I do see those dolls available in the Sumikas.

 

USA, I mean. We don't have sumikas here.

 

So, has anyone gotten an email? I've not heard a word and I put in for both Tokyo Boys. This is frustrating at best....

 

Volks really need to work on their website for AE sumika items online...Keeps showing that the page is unavailable as soon as the clock hits 11am JP time

 

I'm new to the Dolpa After Events- if an item say "Will be Restocked" does this typically happen? And after how long? I really wanted to get my hands on the Mikuzukin outfit but my laptop decided that just as I was loading the page was an excellent time for an unannounced restart. =______=

 

Most of the time? No, not really. You are in luck though, Volks already announced that they would be re-releasing Mikuzukin later on in the year. I can't remember specifically when though. But, for most items I don't hold my breath for an actual restock unless they categorize them as a "standard" outfit. (There are very, very few of those though.)

 

They never responded to my email. Sounds like its over though... I am so disappointed. Tsukasa has been my fav doll since I got into the hobby. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love that doll. It is so devastating that I didn't win him. Guess I will have to try and find one second hand... I still can't believe that not a single person here won anything... I have always had luck in winning at least one thing in lotteries.

 

I entered for DDS Mio Honda last night. It will be interesting to see what the odds are on the DD girls for the international buyers..

Now that I think about it, the last time I entered a lottery with Volks they did notify me that I did NOT win. So, I guess no news means there is still hope.

I reread the auto-reply that was sent when I entered the lottery. In it I found that they would NOT inform the people who didn't win that they lost. So, on that note I guess it's over. I just can't believe that no one won.....not a single person. How dismal is that? (I did find that YJ has a few more dolls, this time that I looked.)

 

Wow, really? I really wanted the Mikuzukin set too, I hope I can get a hold of it >_<

My hubby is my good luck charm! I think I just need to have him click-war for me forever haha (which is already a thing since AE always happens while I'm at work). But anyways he managed to get me the one set I wanted from this AE which was the Blue Balloon Dress Set. Missed out on it so many times before so I'm excited for when it arrives home. Gonna have Momoko wear the pink one and Rhea wear the blue so they can be outfit twins [emoji7]

 

I don't think I won my DDS Mio. I'm heartbroken.

That adorable ickle-bitty Shiro has eluded me.

(I typically have absolutely rotten luck with Volks' lotteries anyway, truth be told. Always have, always will... So I can't really act like I'm surprised about Chibi!Shiro not joining the crew. I am gonna grump a bit about it, though. Because that's just The Way It's Done. )

 

No, no chibi-Shiro for my Shiro Army either! ;; Well, I have to flip a coin to see whether to even bother selling a kidney to YJ, or closing the doors. The house is really full, though I did intend on hacking 2 more little chunks out of the wall for chibi Tokyo Boys.

 

No Tsukasa for me either. :-/

 

I'm really, really surprised that no one here on DoA has one anything from this event! This seems really, really unusual! I'm sad to hear that so many people lost in the lottery.

I was very fortunate enough to go to this Dolpa and managed to get a YoSD Tsukasa. After seeing how cute he is, I'm kinda sorry I didn't grab the Shiro when I had the chance! Honestly, it felt like there wasn't a lot of dolls at the event.

Here is a photo of my little guy. No name yet. Just Tsukasa. The first thing I did was change his eyes! His default were so big and I found the colour so dull that they did nothing for him. These are just temporary eyes until I can find something more suitable.

 

I won Sinon in the lottery, I've lost 4 times in the past and this is my first win.

Congrats, twistedkawaii. That is good news. I can't tell you how may times I checked to see if there were any winners. Sinon is really a beautiful doll and I love her style.

What a cutie he is! : But his face is kind of serious-- I guess Tsukasa has a serious streak, but since they made Chibi-Isao so zany-looking, I assumed his BFFs would have the same grin. Maybe (like real boys) he'd look zanier out of uniform. xD Yo-Isao also came with ginormous eyes... these guys do look more alert with smaller eyes in.

I too was bummed that they didn't seem to have made enough dolls for even one DOA winner in the lottery...! That's unusual. I went ahead & grabbed a Shiro off of YJ, so at least my Shiro Army will get its new recruit as planned.

 

[MENTION=6370]JennyNemesis[/MENTION] Thanks very much! He was a total implies buy! I had a chance to buy Shiro too but passed. I have SD17 Shiro to satisfy my Shiro needs but I didn't have a Tsukasa. Now I do! I think Tsukasa can look pretty mischievous as well as serious. Maybe it's just the way I photograph him? I have more photos on my Flickr if you'd like to see more of him. I think the YoSD really need a bit of a smaller eye than the ones they come with. I wish Volks would make a smaller eye series for their YoSD. He looked strange with large eyes.

Congrats on the Y!J purchase! I think the YoSD prices for the boys were decent (not like Ami). Looking forward to seeing photos of him! Or maybe at LA Dolpa?

 

Maybe so-- I'll just have to pore through your Flickr to stare at more Tsukasa to see all his expressions. :3 I already have all the big versions of these guys anyone could want, but that doesn't stop me wanting their mischievous little versions too! Especially a special guy like Tsuka-pyon.

I heard that Ami's prices went absolutely crazy on YJ! The Shiro & Tsukasa I saw on eBay USA were ~$200 more than the ones I saw on YJ, by comparison... I was starting to wonder what the catch was. I got a great price on YJ, even with all the Noppin fees added on.

And yes, I think the as-yet-unnamed Chibi Shiro will probably make an appearance at LA Dolpa! He will have to meet your Tsukasa, after all.

Of course it's at 7pm on PST a Saturday, when I won't be home. Bah humbug! Well, maybe this means that we'll at least get some more Tsukasas on YJ afterwards.

 

My guess is that another lottery may mean more cancelations. People entering for people and then cancelling of orders again. The click wars are a serious pain though. Server crashing, freezing screens plus essentially giving up your night to hope to get something. *sigh*

Curiously, does anyone know if these events are going to be released through Volks USA or just the International website? I'm sad to have missed out on the yo Squirrel outfit.

 

Just for the hell of it, I have pictures of Shirou and Tsukasa in their box, untouched if anyone wants to see. ) they're not mine. They've been sent off to my friend. But I wanted to take a photo of them while I did a last minute inspection before I sent them out.

 

Not sure if this happened to anyone else but I just got a confirmation email (2 weeks after I paid) for the Tea Party. This is so weird …

I didn't try for anything. I'm wondering if some people are using those sniping computer programs that just put everything into your cart and check out? There would be no chance for the average person to get anything against those things.

 

I got home a half-hour late, so I didn't even try. ;; Sounds like it wouldn't've been worth it anyway! I'll bet there weren't even any bid-snipers, I'll bet they just only had like 3 or 4 dolls left. I didn't get the impression that there were very many of them even at the Dolpa either.

This lottery thing is sure not as easy as it used to be, that is for sure...

But if you want a Yo-Shiro to cheer you up, here's Taki. :3 All I can say is thank goodness for Noppin. Sadly he won't be getting a Tsukasa roommate this time around, but maybe Noppin will save us again later.

Tried for Ami and Sinon, couldn't get them, but my dad managed to snag Mio for me. :'D I'm pretty happy he wanted to give the click war a shot~

It looks like we'll have one more shot at the Dolpa 33 items... Not announced on the VolksUSA website, but announced on Facebook. No idea why they insist on doing that.

Maybe my chibi Tsukasa is waiting here for me...!

At least they seem to have learned from the recent website debacles, and are having a lottery right off the bat.

 

Yeah, I really figured it was just clothes, too, since they really didn't make very many dolls for this Dolpa... But, Volks being Volks, one never knows!

And thank goodness they're going right to lottery. I read some of the savage vitriol they caught from customers on Facebook, during that last re-re-re-rescheduled debacle; if they didn't learn from that, they'd be crazy. ;;

 

I entered for the mini pink balloon dress set in the latest lottery on Volks USA, and I got it, so that was a pleasant surprise. My incoming SDC girl will have something nice to wear to the LA Dolpa in September.
