TinyBear 10inch Moona/Mina and Bracken discussion part 1

Jun 25, 2008

    1. I thought so, It is my favorite. But I am sure she would look good in white w/a light faceup and pale hair.

    2. [IMG][IMG]
I LOVE these 2 ..cant wait to get some elves clothes done for them
      Fallow and Sika

      • x 1
    3. You were so right about the BonBon head on the Large Bracken body making a great boy, he's very handsome!!

What a beautiful pair they make!

    4. :aheartbea I really really love the Coco head for Fallow and the Bonbon makes a really great looking boy! Why didn't we do this earlier!!!

    5. I like the newcomers but still a big fan of the originals :aheartbea
And I've heard from Carrie about my big red Bracken going to be coming home to me one day. My red Moona can't wait :aheartbea
      Happy, happy, happy :D

    6. When will you have some of the new ones in stock? I love Fallow she is my new favorite and Sika is nice but I still prefer Zack.

    7. I have some on order
I have my Thisltedown comming hopefully next week
and then Im going to push to get these
      I love them

I still love the orriginals ...
but I love these ..I think because by the phtotgraph ..you cant tell what size they are ..they could be anything
they have a very realistic feel to them ..and because of the size look fantastic with the Puki /Thistledown/Lati White size

Ive just done some work with a firend of mine ans we designed a bed ...very elf like ....fantasty fretwork thing
not finished yet ...but its going to look amazing in a setting with these
Im looking forward to putting something togeather

    8. Ack! They look fantastic. I love Fallow so much, must convince myself to wait till after Dolpa lolz.

    9. I especially really like your Fallow and the way you've painted and blushed her! Must get large Moona in light and dark tan... and now add a Fallow to the list.... too long of a wish list and no money! Love them!

    10. Fallow and Sika make a lovely couple!... adds them to the ever growing list of TB Elves. Fallow is just gorgeous!

    11. I'm going to have a Tinybear army myself. I don't have any boys yet. Yet. I do have Myfanwy (lil Moona), Priscilla (big Moona), Trinket (lil Mina), Lovely (Big Mina), and Emerald (Cocoa). I think that's it. I hope I did not forget any body.

    12. Carrie when you get time could I see a pic of Fallow and lge Moona side by side? I just love Fallow *happy sigh*

      luv MOP...

    13. I haven't been here in a long time--looks like I've missed a lot! :O

Oh my gosh, I would LOVE to have either a Bonbon or Coco head on the larger male body. :3 And I'm still wanting a mer-Mina...! I just keep getting distracted. DX

Oh, here's a little bit of picspam. Sapphire makes friends so easily with EVERYONE!

    14. That's a cute picture! They look like great friends. I love Saphire's wild red hair.

    15. She certainly does PinkCow, but then who could resist her sweet friendly face!

    16. Love putting Coco's and Bonbon's heads on the bigger guys. Now, if only I had them all in the same skin tone! I'm getting a big red Bracken and small red Bracken, but that just seems a little silly...

      Nancy

    17. Pinkcow I love your Sapphire and her new friend. Very sweet pic.

    18. I don't think so! I'm getting a big red Bracken and would happily have a tiny red Bracken too. I might do one day, just got to have a green one first...so many colours to come home to me...

    19. Aeilia, thank you~ she does have some crazy hair! But she wears it well! ^^
Blod, I know~ she's a sweet girl, but she does have a sly streak!
      nancyme12, thanks! :D

    20. Yes, so many colors that I want also! I don't think 2 red Brackens of different size is a bad thing at all.. That is a special resin and I love it, also. I'm waiting for some funds to come in and will be ordering my very first BJD .. a Moona, from Carrie.

Still going nuts trying to decide on which color resin, eye and hair combination to go with though for a first ! The Blue resin, green, white, light tan, chocolate... I love all of them which is the problem! The only thing I am sure of is the hair, and wanting it long, wavy/curl/whispy like ...

Love reading this thread! more more more!!
      Robin in NM

    21. This photo of Whisper is so pretty.. I love her blush , everything about her is awesome. That's a lilac resin? I'm loving it!

    22. Moon lightning -- Lief is a beauty -- love her outfit so much!

    23. Yes hun she's the lilac resin, its such a lovely soft shade more cloud grey than lilac. :)

    24. It is funny, I was thinking of selling my Twig, but after I tried to i've her a gothic face up she almost looks Slavic and Snowwhitey. So I made a Snowwhitey and Slavic dress, and I just cannot sell her. She is such a pretty sculpt. The only thing I dislike about her is the body. But that is because she is such a twig that she cannot hold a pose, even when I restrung her and hotglue sued her.

    25. Ooh Twig looks totally different! I think the darker look suits her better and seems to give her an inner strength.

    26. Twig is fab xx ..try pushing 3 pipe cleaners up from the ankle ..straight inside the torso ..I find this works wonders
      [IMG][IMG]

when I did this I only used 2 ..but I find normal white pipecleaners ...3 is perfect ..I send all the new dolls out with them done

I always knew the Moona /bracken sculpt would be problematic because of the big head and skinny limbs ..but this has really helps

the Sika and Fallow dont have that problem ..although its the same body ..the head is much smaller ..so much better balanced
[IMG] and much more naturally proportioned

    27. Really? Three pipecleaners? I can barely put the one back in when I was done re-wireing her and hot glueing in an attempt to make her stand on her own. :sweat

I think the problem is partly the big head. The other is the twiggy body. The three parts of the body are not interlinking enough, which causes her butt to disconnect from the rest. It makes the rest unstable. (It might just be only my doll that has that problem.) Also I probably need to buy some small s hooks. Re-wireing her was terrible without the hooks. :sigh ouchies...

Still the head is amazing. I got some glass eyes from Captured in Glass and they are like WOW! :D I'll hope to take some pictures soon.

Also, I love the coco head/moona body mix. It is fab! Coco is just so pretty and serene.

    28. it is ..
I cant say design fault ..caus I designed her to be like it LOL ..But larger head on a skinny body and the weight of it ..you have a few problems ...but I was heavily influenced by Mark Ryden ..and the Froud drawings ..big heads >..on skinny thin bodies
so I knew if I wanted a body styled that way thats what happens

but the 3 pipecleaners helps the crazy torso thing ( Dollshe boys had the same problem too ..and the Bobobie bigger dolls )
you can add tabs in with the sculpt ..like Unoa ..but they arnt as flexible then ..again its a personal thing ..I hate stiff dolls )

and I got to admit ..the flexibility appeals to me

CAPTURED IN GLASS ! Love them ..my favourite eyes of all time ....I buy them all of the time now for my tinys

    29. I did the pipe cleaner thing with all of the Tinybear elves that hang out here, it works great. I have no problem with my bobble head gals!
I also love the bendy thing, flexible is what you would call it if you spoke English lolz.
TB, you should try Ginarolos eyes as well, I have the Captured in Glass and they are quite nice, but Gina's eyes are very high quality and the difference is apparent especially in the smaller sizes. They have more depth, so they seem to "follow" just the way the acrylics that you sent with some of mine do, and they have that added clarity of glass.

    30. I just bought one of the large Moonas used. Thanks so much for the great pics and the pipe cleaner tip! Now I know when she gets here just what to do!

    31. Congratulations plastic_princess on your new Moona! Moona is such fun in this size! Looking forward to seeing some pictures when she arrives.

    32. Carrie, thanks for those wiring photos! I didn't realize that the technique was to use a full-length pipecleaner and start at the ankle joint. Did that last night to my Moona -- even with only one pipecleaner in a leg, she is now looking MUCH better. I also put a small section of pipecleaner through her shoulders and the top of each arm, to keep her arms from snapping to her sides.

It's funny, my large Bracken has always posed better than Moona; Moona has been pretty frustrating for me. But she is MUCh better now, so thank you!!!

    33. At last, I can chime in here -- I've been lurking (and learning a LOT) until my (human) Mina arrived; I just purchased her from another DoA member on the Marketplace. She's already wired (or maybe pipe-cleanered??) and even stands on her own. Such a cutie -- I love the oversized head and wild maroon TinyBear wig, it gives her a really unique look. I'm debating about sewing for her -- I cringe at making Barbie-size clothes and she's even smaller! Picture to come as soon as I get my act together and organize my shots on Flickr.

    34. Welcome to the Tinybear club plastic_princess and claywimmin!

The good thing about Large Moona/Mina/Brier-Rose is that they are designed to fit Blythe sized clothing so you have plenty of options if you like fairly modern attire and fashionable stuff.
There are also seemingly plenty of patterns around for Blythe clothing if you sew.

Floppy dolls have never bothered me to be honest, in fact I find the ragdollish feel very..how can I put it...comforting.
Awkward posers although frustrating at times again don't bother me much, I bought the doll because I liked it not because it can strike a pose better than Madonna, however I do understand that not everyone feels that way especially if they love taking photos or making photostories.

That reminds me...I think I need to rewire my Large Moona ><

    35. OK, I think I have this picture thing figured out! Here's Alba, my human Mina! I bit the bullet and made her an outfit, tweaking an old Skipper pattern to fit her Royal Skinnyness! It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be so I'll be doing more. I love her wig but it was a bit flyaway, so I tried the head band and really like the resu[IMG]lt.

By the way I tried the pipecleaner trick on my Sleetwealth Briar and it makes her arms much more willing to hold a pose. Think I'll try it on some of my other little ones as well.

    36. Moona and Bracken spam -- Moona has a new look; she's a jewel fae in the forest. . . .And she is STANDING, thanks to Carrie's pipecleaner tutorial <g>.

    41. I forgot to post this. She arrived in late June 2011

      ...and I adore her

      Here is Tweddle
      Large Mina in Dark Chocolate

Face up by me with my final Opalescent Skin tone technique applied :aheartbea

Name History: since the artist is from England I was thinking an English name. Beth Tweddle is considered Britain's most successful gymnast, male or female. She is the first person from Britain to win a world and European championships.

    42. Tweddle As Tree: Inspired by Mac, a Blythe with an Apple Head

Model: Tweddle my Sleeping Elf Large Mina in Dark Chocolate

Backstory: Mac is a Custom Blythe with literally an Apple Head who is owned by Gumdrops0000. Mac recently got a new dress who's subsequent photo shoot inspired this outfit

      My thought process:
So I was staring at Mitcham (PlanetDoll Aqua in Tan) and her Reef Dolly stand. Wondering," should I do Mitcham's face up?" But I was also contemplating sewing a dress that looked like Bark; after seeing Mac's new outfit . Then it struck me. Why not just sew Tweddle an Elf of the forest dress. It's Not Bark, but I love how it turned out. Especially since my Blythes can wear it.

      Details:
      Altered Pucchi collective Blythe pattern
Brown pleather bodice lined with white polkadot cotton
      Rouched sheer polyester collar.
      Skirt is a tan muslin
      I then applied moss
I also sewed in the hand crafted pink jewelers wire tree
I used the same fabric from the collar to rouche some flowers.
Custom cloth buttons for the flower's center.

All hand sewn and hand crafted by me.

    43. Ive just realised since the Forum changed Ive got to resubscribe to my threads ..so I have xx

      Tweedle is amazing !

      http://gb.pinterest.com/sleepingelf/

ive ive started a board on my Pinterest , for dolls clothes patterns , most of them are BLythe , but they fit the larger of my dolls great
as dose BRatz , and Monster high with a bit of tweeking

im on the look out now for tiny clothes links xx

    44. Thanks, tinybear! I've been trying to find the Coco yoga pants pattern, but it eludes me. Do you have it on pinterest too?

    45. I've not seen that ... But I will look LOL

    46. Crossposting in case someone watches this thread but not the other one . . . :sweat

Huge apologies if I'm just missing this information somewhere! Could someone post two measurements of a large Moona or Fallow, please and thank you? I need the underarm length (from armpit to wrist), and the back length from nape of neck to low waist (the place where the hips curve out)? I've found chest, waist, and hip measurements in the Tinies size charts, and I've found the photo chart with measurements of little Moona, but I really need an inner-arm sleeve length and a back length for the large Moona body.

I just won the ebay auction for the gorgeous light tan Fallow, and I'm doing some advance knitting while she packs up for her transatlantic journey! :aheartbea

    47. Congrats! I've just paid off my 3 girls this very morning, Coco, Fallow and Thistledown, with SleepingElf, so I've also been making and collecting clothes for the last few months.

    48. Oh good for you, they are lovely dolls.

    49. Drive-by posting with a picture of wee Hero, my lovely, lovely Fallow -- we're experimenting with wigs, so this may not be her final look:

    50. She's beautiful, Cynthia!

    51. Aw, thank you!! I'm madly in love with her -- I've never really been much of a Tinies person, but Hero is working hard to change my mind. And make me buy a ton of Blythe clothes.

    52. I came across a bag full of what I hope are Blythe clothes, at the thrift store a few weeks back. I hope to try them on my Fallow in the next few weeks. I've been making a few knit and crochet outfits for Thistledown, but she and my pukipuki can share. Coco is the one who may not have much to wear at first, poor girl!

    53. I hope those *are* Blythe clothes, because if they are, they should work beautifully for your Fallow! I've been experimenting with my Momoko and Volks WTG clothes on Hero -- the fit isn't bad, most of the time, but the styles just don't seem to suit her. *sigh* Fussy dolls.

Coco would LOVE some knit- and crochetwear of her very own, I'm sure . . .

    54. Cynthia, your Fallow is absolutely beautiful. I love this sculpt. Here is my girl wearing my first attempt at sewing a dress in this size

    55. The dress looks very nice, mikki! Love her boots! Did you make them too? And yes, Cynthia, they sure can get fussy over what they want and don't want!

    56. Thank you so much El BJD. :aheartbea Her boots are awesome, aren't they! Her first owner made them, such talent I sadly do not have

    57. mikki, that dress is adorable -- I love the sunny colors! And oh, my, those boots are covetable.

I can't help noticing that your girl has settled on the sewing machine . . . you ARE taking the hint, aren't you?
