    3. Bless.

      I have so many questions.
Like - how do those fit into pants?
      And - why so big?
And - why so many pointing the same way?
Are there any, um, parade rest parts? Like just hanging down? Or do you just - not attach anything when dressing your doll?

    4. @MaleficentMrsofEvil I have a Loongsoul 73cm boy and his default part does fit into most pants...if not I can just remove it

      • x 2
    5. Who says they are there to be fit into pants in the first place? :abambi:

      • x 9
    6. This thread almost makes me want to consider buying one of the 70+ cm guy dolls one day just for the amusement factor of opening the bag of appendages. And figuring out how they actually engineered this stuff. Lmao.

Honestly, I love that people in this hobby have fun with the details. It's both awesome and hilarious and at times baffling (like the creative range of doll appendages, lol), but also makes this community unique and special, and I'm really enjoying landing here!

    7. @Kaerra - do let us know if you decide to invest. There are (I believe) two running favorites in this thread:
Doll Family A - elephant peen.
Telesthesia and Dragon 83-cm Male-Mom Boy body - just magnificent in every possible way. Moobs. Multiple eggplants. A true delight to the senses.

      • x 7
    8. You also don't have to go for the big guys to get a bag of appendages. I got a bag of dicks with my Huajing boy and he's MSD sized. They were still delightfully funny to open in their delicate little nude organza bag.

Granted they're a bit less funny than the snenis above but they swing around very amusingly.

      • x 7
    9. The snenis :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
      This made my night.

      • x 4
    10. LMAO, @Crissaegrim, The Snenis is my indie band headliner, with @MaleficentMrsofEvil's Parade Rest Parts opening for them at the next BJD Absurdity Music Festival.:lol::lol:

But in all seriousness, that's great to know there are MSD variants with the same appendage engineering marvels. I might have to one day create a group of Creative Appendage guys, and see how salty the mood among them gets, lol. I'm sure my girl dolls will be sitting there wondering whether they should be relieved that they just get the usual disproportions or wishing they had more creative thought put into their body parts, too.

Seriously, thank you all for the laugh, it's been a long week.

    11. So, going on with the same topic - if anyone has bodies with detachable weens from several different companies, are they interchangeable or are the magnets' polarisations sometimes swapped? Imagine wanting to... hybrid... a little... and the dong will just push away from the crotch :(

      • x 5
    12. Tight pants, and zipper up real quick. As a bonus you can unzip to take down a burglar.

      • x 12
    13. Indeed :mwahaha I don't think these were made to be contained!! LS must have wanted them on full display! :nosebleed

To answer your other questions, MaleficentMrs, I may have to bring them out for examination again, I thought I got duplicates too, but maybe there are some nuances between the parts that I didn't notice :blush

When my friend showed me, these parts were fairly new and exciting. I guess mid 2010s? There was still some debate about whether they were too perverted, but we both thought it was cool to have options. There was also some debate as to whether the beans should be attached to the pork in this configuration. Since she's a proud yaoi fan I'm sure she enjoyed them for other reasons :wiggle But she was also thrilled that she could switch or rotate them to avoid a point and eventual hole in the crotch caused by the classic molded tictac. And make her guys look more excited even with his clothes on:abambi: She only lamented that they fell out of the pants leg sometimes and got lost (no peg like my boy's. pun not intended but... well, how else do I call it), which is why she cleverly tucked them into the head when not in use. Hers were only about the size of my knuckle so the whole crew could rock it in the brain case. How far we have come since then! My lucky boy :o

Oh my god :lol::lol: You are a genius
on the topic of hybriding, I recall some hobbyist producing custom optional parts for sale, not sure if that's still a thing.

SNENIS :...(:...(:...(:...( does it, does it bite :horror:
Idea for a photo story: charming the snake...

    14. "Now here's a sight rarely seen in the wild, an immature snenis has emerged from the nest, ready to venture forth into the big wide world on its own for the very first time. Let's observe how it interacts from a safe distance."

--Not Exactly David Attenborough, But Close Enough

      :XD::XD::XD:

Honestly, a nature documentary, plus burglar deterrence in one photo story would have me absolutely rolling. Especially if someone got a little unlucky with detachment syndrome, like your friend's dolls sometimes experienced. LMAO

      • x 7
    15. Oh dear my currently memberless Ringdoll hybrid is feeling more insecure than usual after the above handful. I don't feel too sorry for him though. I've already gotten used to making good fun of him rather than try to string the darn thing back on.
Which brings me back to the topic that the joy of bullying my dolls a little with my closest friends is definitely something about the hobby that cracks me up.

      • x 4
    16. I'd love to see not-David Attenborough have to say about Ring Doll's "Peter" Peter
I thought I've seen enough resin "extra" bits (looking at you, Granado "Handy"!), but this one... dang it, this one takes the cake. What the heck is that?!

      Mutated sneis? Cobrenis?

      • x 5
    17. "Moving downriver, we seem to have stumbled upon a snake's den of rather peculiar species. We've hit the jackpot, because these are species rarely sighted in the wild: a duos snenis anguis--or duo-headed snenis--sunning itself, alongside a sleeping cobrenis, and horned viperenis. They are joined by a... oh my. What on earth is that thing?"

Not-David pauses awkwardly, and clears his throat.

"This is a new breed, never before seen on television! It appears to use suction cups to move about, rather than slithering over scales like its snenis brethren, and it chirps as it moves, because its head is in fact a bird... How is that even possible?"

Seriously, WHAT IS THAT THING? :XD::XD::XD: It's like someone combined a kraken with an innocent little finch minding its own business and turned them into a chimera!dick and I am utterly speechless. So damn funny, thank you for the share! (Bonus points to whomever at Ringdoll titled the whole page as "Peter", lmao)

      • x 8
    18. And now not-David Attenborough is permanently stuck in my head, narrating snenis narratives.
Non-snenis: saw this reel on Instagram. Beautiful eyes. Watch the middle one when jioba98 starts moving them.
I jumped in my chair. Then I laughed at myself.
I am both amused and completely freaked out by moving eyes, and I have no explanation.

      • x 1
    19. That's great! Now I wanna know what kind of "Auxiliary tools" they have used to move those eyes.

@Kaerra : That was great. Thanks for the belly laughs!
... to Not-David Attenborough: I'm sorry. But I am not sorry. Sorry. (Sorry, I'm Canadian, so... um... sorry?)

      • x 3
    20. Cackling at this thread.

      • x 3
    21. Sorry about the permanent Not-David narration, lol, but seriously glad everyone's enjoying the silliness! @SPhosphate, I was legit cackling at your "sorry, not sorry" line. My Canadian friends would be rolling (I'm not Canadian myself, but I get enough of the cultural reference to lol along with them).

That was definitely startling at first, and I probably would have reacted exactly like you did if I hadn't watched it already forewarned, so thank you for that! I asked my husband what he thinks might make them move, I was wondering if they were magnetic in some way? But he seems to think it's something else. I'll edit the post if he thinks he's figured it out, lol.

EDITED TO ADD: Hubs found this technique for how to make the eyes move, I'm not sure if it's exactly the same, but it's from a couple of years ago. The person explains and demonstrates the process he came up with (I guess he's credited in several places as being the first to come up with the idea and at least share it online). It's really neat!

Video demonstration of moving eyes on Instagram

It's kinda long to watch, but this shows how the OP made the eye socket capable of movement in the first place, using tinfoil. How the person in the later reel managed to make the eyes move may have involved turning the eye sockets from the backside, potentially? Meaning they maybe had the head cavity open, and used an implement to attach to the long posts at the back of the eyes and got the eyes to move by turning the posts, somehow?

Serious ingenuity in the BJD world, whether it's funny, brilliant, or everything in between!

    22. When I skimmed the post above and read "snenis" and "moving the eyes", I tried to imagine how the mechanism would work :nowords:

      • x 5
    23. Press papilla good feel - press doll nipples, snenis stands to attention.
Eye am watching you - use snenis as eye-moving mechanism like side mirror adjustment buttons in cars.

      • x 7
    24. Sorry, our reputation precedes us. As much as we'd love to say that we don't say "sorry" that much... I guess we do? I mean... I suppose we do? Anyway... sorry.

And thanks (to you and hubs!) for finding the tutorial. Now I am really tempted to try this one out on my bigger boys!

It's now canon: The snenis is the source of all surprise joy! All roads lead to snenis!

(Sorry... now I can't get these images out of my head. Thanks a lot, gang!! :sweat)

    25. Why am I now thinking of those creepy 18th century portraits where the person's eyes seem to watch you wherever you go in the room? Lmao. For real, though, there's a portrait of I think Marie Antoinette I saw as a teenager in a museum in Austria that literally had the effect. A couple of her Habsburg relatives did, too. Seriously weirded me out, lol.

Fwiw, my husband is not Canadian, and he says sorry more than anyone I know, lmao. Just like reflex for him, even when he's repeatedly and gently told he doesn't need to apologize for anything. I try to view it as someone trying to be considerate of others' feelings--which is lovely unless they're regularly neglecting their own.

So glad it's useful, yay! Oooh, that's great you want to try out the tinfoil trick on one of your dolls! I'd love to see photos if you're happy with the results! My husband found some other videos with similar-but-different eye movement techniques, I think he sent me 5 altogether? I could start a thread on that topic and post them, if anyone's interested? (Don't want to go OT in this thread more than I probably have with Not-David Attenborough, lol.)

      • x 2
    26. I am! I totally am! I just want to adjust focus those peepers once in a while!
Taking photos for a photostory takes a while if I have to go in to adjust the eyes' line of sight with every other shot. This trick should work out much better!

      • x 2
    27. I was joking around but that eye movement gimmick looks really neat. I'd love a thread to discuss that.
Joydoll is also making some sort of eye harness that goes inside the head, but I assume it's only geared for their own dolls.

      • x 2
    28. I just posted a new thread on moving eye techniques in Workshop/Customization & Maintenance, hopefully that's the best place for it! That was a really fun rabbit hole to fall into!

      • x 3
    29. And it's fabulous!
I'm looking for an explainer on Unoa's eye mechanism. It's a little bar that goes behind the eyes, and you can move it around to move the eyes. Unoa has holes in the head that other dolls don't have, though.

      • x 1
    30. Oooh, that's a really interesting technique, too! If you find more info on how Unoa does it, please do share it over in that thread, too! We were guessing that the back of the doll's head might be open for something to attach to the long posts on the eyes, but that seems tedious to have to take the cap on and off all the time. Extra holes in the head make a lot of sense to avoid that.

    31. The entire topic is filled mostly with people talking about making doll "parts", which I very immaturely also find funny, especially the removable ones, and the person who put them on their fridge is ICONIC. I don't think that adding that part to a doll is necessary, but I do find it funny when companies decide that making them removable is a good idea. Imagine removing the magnetic part and losing it, then your in-laws or a young family member finds them by accident or something that sounds like it would be embarrassing but also quite funny.

    32. Were you at my house the other day?
      Spouse: "I, uh, found something."
      Me: What?
Spouse holds out hand while looking the other way.
Me: My missing penis! Thank you!
Yeah, sorry, I have the humor of an 8-year-old boy. I think peens are funny, and I love the creativity of optional parts.

      • x 5
    33. I clearly have the same sense of humor as you and @Kizumii_chan, lol. My brain immediately started generating Not!David Attenborough rambling on about various creatures accidentally shedding body parts instead of their skin, lmao. He'd end with something along the lines of "Thankfully, those handy magnets mean that as long as the missing part can be found, it'll happily reunite with its owner!"

May the snenis live long in our memories, lolololol.

And a huge thank you to the BJD makers for giving us so much entertainment in places we maybe didn't expect to find it. :XD:

      • x 4
    34. I think human body parts will never be not funny.
We are usually used to dolls being children's toys, so being anatomically correct (instead of "as smooth as a Ken doll" - bonus if you know where the quote came from!) is something jarring to the system, no matter how old you may be. The thought that some doll companies have decided that they needed to make their already anatomically-correct dolls even more ana-comically correct is a stroke of evil genius. There are some doll makers who give their female dolls very detailed sculpting between their legs, too - they are just fewer of them and the parts are not detachable, which somewhat takes away from the absurdity (and at the same time, hilarity).

I think, if there's a company that came up with inflatable boobs (now that I think of it, it'd probably have to be a vinyl doll of some kind. Resin can't inflate), we'd be having just as much fun falling over ourselves for it.

      • x 6
    35. Well, there used to be add-on silicone busts - not much farther to inflatable ones!
MagneticDuckling doesn‘t make them anymore as far as I am aware, but surely there‘s other creators out there who offer them.

      • x 1
    36. No clip on clitoris :pout:

Re: squishy boobies - it's more common with anime dolls, especially vinyl - you can get 3rd party silicone parts to use on the frame. Evantasy has a new resin body that offers silicone breasts as an option, too, so it's definitely been thought about.

      • x 5
    37. I keep running into Adyka as a silicon option (mainly with Volks or Smart Dolls), that's neat to know there are other brands out there doing the same kind of thing. Like that Evantasy has a mostly resin body with optional silicon parts, that's an interesting hybrid concept that I'll be curious to see whether other brands start doing as well. Or if they find other ways to try and offer different tactile or structural solutions for BJDs.

I ran across a reddit thread last night where someone asked about whether it was just them that had the impression that one BJD brand no longer had the same presence everywhere, and people who'd been collecting for decades weighed in with a fascinating observation--that there are so many makers now, there are a ton of niche doll markets rather than everyone only has these 5 big names to order from. I'm still pondering that one, but it makes a lot of sense, honestly. Lots of BJD makers means more niche things, from snenises to silicon body parts, to who knows what next. It's both awesome and a little weird/funny all at once, but I'm kinda glad I joined the BJD community at this point, too.

      • x 2
    38. I call her "honk-honk" body - cuz honk honk. (Bless you Insta user gr3ynia for this reel, for it brings me great joy. Honk honk)

      • x 4
    39. Aficionados :roll:on the vinyl side claim that for obvious reasons it's the only way to have natural looking large busts. Most of the resin/vinyl options look pretty ridiculous to be honest.

      • x 2
    40. I'm amused for no clear reason by the Evantasy body pics because half of them she's in her birthday suit with random heels. Like... why? Most doll body listings actually show you their feet, too! Why heels and nothing else? Lol.

      • x 2
    41. @Kaerra - I think they are just showing off the heel legs - dolls can't stand on them without shoes so hence the pumps for non-sitting poses :sweat not sure if it's just Legenddoll not putting up all images or if Evantasy didn't take any with flat feet... although looking at the posing on the promo images I guess it's just a stylistic choice.

      • x 2
    42. Oh, heeled feet makes sense, thanks for the reminder! I never think about that, since I guess I just think of them as a supplemental part that comes with a lot of doll bodies. But it would be useful if they included a shot of the actual heeled foot without the shoes as a reference, at least for me. I like having the overview of every component I'm buying. I guess that might be a little weird to some people, lol.

Either way, I bet you're spot on that photographing the doll in heels is an aesthetic choice. Probably based on the kind of people they think would be interested in a doll with silicone parts up top to begin with.

      • x 1
    43. I sometimes contemplate the possibility of making jointed boobs. Even if they couldn't sqish, it would probably be possible to do a segmented cup joint that would allow changing the position and direction of the bust that actually could be useful for making the bust sit right in different garments.
Other that that slight potential for usefulness, it would purely be a joint engineering excercise, of course. A bit like that time I made and optional tentacle arm for a doll that really didn't need it... but you know.

      • x 4
    44. D-Lace (I think) did make a jointed boobie girl. I can't seem to find her though!

      • x 2
    45. I can't remember who, but there was a maker on instagram who somewhat recently did jointed boobs. I think a chinese one? It was, uh... A look:sweat

      • x 1
    46. Haha, Nothing new under the sun, I guess. Well at least now I don't have to. Post a link if you ever come across it again, because I'd love to see how it looks and works. :XD:

      • x 1
    47. I think it's this one - ig link . I think there was post that shows the boob jointing a little better if anyone wants to dig further :)

      Edit: found it - here.

      • x 1
    48. Oh, that's interesting! From the first image it looks like the boob is a cup shape and it's end piece is the nipple. That's a neat idea. I wish there were picures showing the range of movement.
I was thinking more the other way around, with a socket into the torso, a shallw cup or two for the base and the the boob iteslf like a flattened ball, with the hook holder on the inside... Does this mean I still have to do it?

      • x 4
    49. I'm afraid so.
I've got Ursula's body stuck in my head, so... we can commiserate, lol.

      • x 3
    50. I actually do have a doll with soft body parts made of silicone. She's not as well-endowed as Honk-honk, I don't think. (Then again, she's a bit on the chubby side so it's actually hard to tell... It's not like I'm an expert on doll boobiage or anything...)

One thing that gr3ynia mentioned is absolutely true. Silicone body parts are sticky! Very sticky! I swear she's literally collecting dust at home. Baby powder is a must for silicone boobies! ( ...I should start calling it "Booby Powder"...)

      • x 4
    51. A dealer website has “body parts” for male dolls listed and the photo showed them in a bag. It just made me laugh because I had a friend from high school that used to say eat a bag of d**ks when she was mad at someone, so I had to send the link to her.

      • x 6
    52. For those interested I have seen a really cool mod to make the soft vinyl bust more squishy. None of my dollfies have a big chest though to try it with.
The modder warmed up the part enough to flip inside out, then shaved the vinyl from the inside with a blade until it becomes thin.
I think they were inspired by the Angel Philia but wanted something less bold.
The thinness of the sofubi allows it to squish:abambi:without stickiness! And you can localize it to the necessary areas only. Unlike my hybrid who I gave an AP bust, she has a squishy neck that i had to stuff to keep her head stable :huh?:

      • x 1
    53. I own silicone eyes, and bought them before I realized how much of a thing that can be. Is it worth using baby powder on eyes, or do we just dust them the way we'd dust anything that accumulates it, with dust cloths? These eyes are only 11mm, so not super big. For an MSD doll whose head is closer to YoSD sizing.

      • x 1
    54. I
I've never had silicone eyes, but I will say it's worth a shot. A very fine dusting with baby powder can do great in keeping the eyes dust and hair free. I know they're tiny so the chance of them tracking dust won't be quite so visible. But it's also because they are tiny that any dust clinging to them would make them look cloudy and messy. You can clean with with a dust cloth, but that won't prevent anything sticking them right after, which is the problem in the first place.

      Good luck!

      • x 2
    55. Thank you, I will do my best! Plan B is backup glass eyes if these drive me up the wall with dust bunny collection.

Now there's something hilarious about this hobby I never expected to think about, lmao--eyeball dust bunnies. :XD:

      • x 3
    56. I sometimes imagine other people getting my doll orders by mistake and opening them up... Imagine thinking you got something from Amazon and it ended being a bunch of magnetic peens!

      • x 7
    57. Lol, some poor person ripping open their package, "Thank God, my painkillers arrived, I've got a splitting headache--what the hell is this?!" *holds up bag of peens, their eyes bugging out in horror at the sight of multiple snake heads staring ominously back at them* "Either this is AI taking over warehouse inventory, or that mushroom quiche I ate at lunch had something in it I didn't know about. I gotta go put this up on my IG and file an Amazon return for the ages."

Who knew a bag of magnetic parts could cure headaches so fast? :XD::XD::XD: (or increase someone's visibility on social media at the same time? Magic! Lmao)

      • x 9
    58. It's not just any mushroom quiche! It's magic mushroom quiche! (kitsch?)

Although, I gotta admit, the first time I got a doll with a bag of d*cks, I must have sat there in disbelief for a whole minute, too. Like... who the hell needs something -that- big? We're not talking about snenis or anything like that, just normally shaped eggplants that look like it's been genetically modified to be three-times bigger than it has any business of being...

      • x 9
    59. I have yet again found myself giggling at pp parts... but this one comes with an extra function!

edit: didn't even see the hand back there for scale at first! apparently not actually a doll dique, although listed in a bjd dealer's shop. I think my brain only sees what it wants to see.
