Things about this hobby that you find hilarious?

Apr 30, 2021

    1. I'm having that problem with the Spiritdoll boy body I have. I got two of these bodies older, male and female a while back and while I love them they are 70 cm almost by the time you get a head on one and comparatively they just have HUGE feet. The girl is like 9 cm almost and the boy is 9.5-10 depending upon the type of shoe. It's not just the length it's the way the foot is made, the thickness of it.

The girl is easier but the boy his feet are just really hard to put shoes on without spending a small fortune. I have one pair of unisex doll boots from a porcelain doll that just barely fit him but they are not in great shape. I'm thinking he's going to end up with felt long boots and I'm going to have to make them myself because $40 and up for a pair of boots is NOT in my budget and besides I'd have to go to China and I hate doing that.

That's just WOW. I have never seen man boobs that big on a BJD. That's like pro weight lifter level man boobs!

    2. I collect older sculpts, and I love it when someone gets their first old doll and starts asking if the flaws are normal, and the answers are all just "welcome to Delfs" or "welcome to Volks" because if you know, you know.

    6. I mean, when they are made in completely different materials, different numbers made and marketed to a completely different demographic, the difference in prize is hardly surprising. Or do you mean that it's funny that adult collectors like the same aesthetics as children do?

    7. What's with all the sculpts that are licking their lips? Are they trying to get at some spaghetti sauce?

    8. I can't justify buying a 1/4 boy that I don't need just because I want the mini moob man, but if I could I would.

    9. One mmm (mini moob man) for each of bmm's (big moob man's) boobie...

    12. I'm thinking about that Granado dolls series of images that they have for their 15cm bodies, where they've got one of their big boys holding the little one. If they made a pocket size Moob Man then the big Moob Man could have his own Micro Moob Man

    13. Welp. I would like to thank this thread for introducing me to the Mini Moob Man.

I have a character I've been trying to shell in this size range for years and I needed him to be at least as tall as my Souldoll Vitos, which are 53cm including their heads. I was looking for something that fit my vision of "broad of chest, pure of heart, dumb of ass", and I think the Mini Moob Man would do that.

Off to update my "To Buy" list now. :whee::chomp:

    14. He looks pretty normal straight on, I mean really bulky for 1/4, but normal. Then her turns side ways, he has a chest that some people would pay for! I was not expecting that. He'd be pretty awesome if I was into moob men. :XD:

Weird that they didn't make a 60cm version, but it looks like the 60cm range boys are becoming more rare. People either want the 70+ uncles - which I have a few, or the mature 1/4 boys. I guess that's why they did him in that size. :3nodding:

    16. I love that description! And YES FINALLY MOOBS IN A CONVENIENT TRAVEL SIZE.

.........look, I have a blacksmith character that needs shelling okay. Now I'm curious what it would look like with a bigger head.

    18. ...But has the mini moon man "soft papillas"? What a combo it'll be! Haha
      (SORRY)

    19. Press papilla :whee: ~good feel~ :3nodding:

    20. Another option would be to have the whole moob itself being soft and squishy, not just the papillas :XD::XD::XD:

    21. I recall some soft chested parts for Minifee (?) Not sure. It can be the next step.

      Good feel ~ xD

      • x 3
    22. I guess if you cast silicone moobs you could maybe stick them on to a flat chested doll. Now all the boys can have soft papillas

      • x 6
    23. Evantasy does silicone boob parts for some of their bodies! TD should take note!

      • x 3
    24. I thought you COULD order your mini moob man with chest parts as original recipe or extra crispy. Opps, I mean original type or silicone chest type.

      • x 2
    25. Yes, by Magnetic Duckling several years ago. She had it for Minifee and Fairyline (same outside silicone piece, different inside resin piece)

      • x 1
    26. I would buy soft, squishy moobs.

    28. How many of you folks that have been in this hobby a long time remember the old Nobility "Emotion" body?
Resin, but with two little symmetrical holes in the chest in which were soft nubbly nips. You could push them in a bit. Oddly, I didn't check out how they were attached inside. I was rather preoccupied with the "helicopter peen" - the body's man bit was attached with thin plastic strings through another tiny strategic hole. One time, I brought it to a doll meet and we spent a raucous interval twisting the strings tight, to watch and whoop over the resin bit spinning around as the strings untwisted themselves.

      • x 18
    29. I don't see references to the Emotion body too often, but it cracks me up every time I do. What a time in the hobby hahaha

I'll be sad if and when some day this little kernel of BJD history is lost

    30. Every time someone mentions that body I feel like I'm being summoned. I have a boy on that body and love him dearly (and honestly it's a great body!)...pen clicker nips and all. As for how the mechanism works...well it feels like a pen clicker with a spring, but it's encased in resin so you can't see it. Honestly I wish you could still order this body...I would not mind having another one. (though perhaps not 'full operation' lol)

      • x 10
    31. I'm actually curious for the longest time how the Emotion Body of Nobility Doll actually looks like from the inside since their release (always though they are soft silicons molded into the hard chest area). Color me impressed that they are actually resin pieces peeking out of the tiny holes in the chest from within :aeyepop::abow:. Such dorrie engineering, and Nobility Doll was definitely ahead of their time designing it :). This would be SUCH a great idea to suggest to T&D for their supple mooby bods.

Apologies also but I cracked up big time on the "pen clicker nips", hahahaha! Curious question: do they sound like pen-clickers when pressing?

    32. Maybe they could build on the “pen clicker nips” mechanism to make it like a mechanical pencil so the more you clicked the longer they’d get?! :XD:

      • x 8
    33. It cracks me up as well. :XD: And they make a little springy noise, yes, but not the same click as a pen exactly. I think they are supposed to be able to click down to be more flush but I suspect that bit doesn't work. Also they are not soft. If they once had a silicone or rubber coating on them it was gone by the time I adopted him second-hand. The spring is still very strong though and it's funny to click them but my poor boy is not a fan. lol

      • x 8
    34. it doesnt really matter for me that cat is plastic or is made by artist from resin in only 300 pieces. if it looks ugly to me then its not worth my money.

    35. So what is funny to you is that some people like things you find ugly? I think I fail to see the joke. Personally I love the fact that there are so many different types of dolls out there, I don't have to like them all individually to appreciate the diversity. :)

      • x 7
    36. Re: pen clicker nipples - where are all the modders at??? Surely any body could have clicknips added! Even the moob man, with a long enough drillbit, perhaps even with an eraser nub at the end

      • x 5
    37. Shhh, plug your ears, Lacy. I won't do that to you.

    38. Oh wow, I had completely forgotten about the clicker-nipple body! I also seem to remember a special chest part for Volks dolls (possibly DDs) that had especially squishy, er, endowments. Perhaps someone already brought it up and I missed it, but I always found it funny.

Also, the Mini Moob Man Saga made me laugh pretty good. Great work, everyone.

    39. True! :) I manage to encounter a Dolfie Dream in a BJD meet a long time ago and getting permission to touch from owner, their large, um, bazoombas feel softer and squishier than vinyl :aeyepop:. Fast forward to recent times with the moobs trend, I eagerly await for the time when a soft squishy moob option will be available (preferrably, as endowed as T&D's :XD:).

    40. There were a few third party options floating around back in the day. I remember one called something like "peach pie" or similar, there may have been a different spelling. And there were other makers as well, ranging from moderately sized bubble boobs all the way to 'nature doesn't do that' sized variants. The perfect combination of body humor and stellar creativity. I love this hobby. :XD:
To make it work with a strung body, you'd need an internal part to take the tension and a silicone "skin" on top of that, but it probably could be done. :wiggle

      • x 5
    41. Alternately, tiny magnetic nipples and then magnets in a silicone boob

      • x 4
    42. :sneaky There's at least a couple of people here who would have more fun with those magnets then you think, and photograph the results.
      Not me, though. Hahaha.

@MaleficentMrsofEvil Yes, never do that to Lacy. (I don't think I'll be able to get a mini Lacy this year. In fact, I'm still intimidated.)

    43. Oh wow, that's hilarious! And yes, please give us the squishy man chests. I don't need them (maybe) but it's only fair!

Speaking of this topic, I undressed a doll body today, only to find that her nipples had, well, left their impression :sweat

    45. Yes.... the Moob Man army grows...
      :dance:evilplot::dance:evilplot:

Editing to add: all this talk of modding has me wondering if T&D would sell me just the chest piece on this fella. I mean, I already own the doll, right?

      • x 4
    46. :o He is glorious. I wonder if they'll ever make him in the mini size? I think he'd work for what I have in mind for the Mini Moob Man...

As for obtaining just the chest piece -- maybe you could ask one of the dealers or T&D directly?

    47. I just found "slutty dressup spray" as a translation for some sealant on a company website. To be fair, it was using the AI translation option.

    48. Honestly The wardrobes are one of many.
I used to say "Nope. They won't get better than me. I won't spend $25+ on clothes if I won't buy myself pants."
      I lied. It's a total lie :XD:

Some sculpts are amusing too in a good way. From the oddball artist ones (IE Mr....Ahem- he's adorable for a "thing")

The magnetic and strung male parts are fun. I think I've played with both amused at how they work just for giggles.

Oh and the fact I turn heads when I mention body parts I mess with like eyes etc. Nothing funnier to watch than a non doll collector think you're freaky.

      • x 4
    49. Oh yes, all the translation errors. My favorite to this day is on one of those miniature finger watches, sometimes sold as wrist watches for SD- sized dolls. The description read: "The clock may take a walk if battery is inserted."
I just have the image in my head of a wrist watch growing legs and happily go for a walk whenever it's bored.

    50. When Telestesia and dragon first released their 1/4 version of the 72 vII body, they had an option with a silicone chest. The entire torso was 1 piece of silicone and the pelvis was a separate resin piece. They don't have the body on their taobao anymore though. But hopefully silicone moobs come back eventually!

      • x 4
    51. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??????? :aeyepop:
Oh. OH. I am sending an email.

    52. Maybe with this screwdriver I could pry your eye out without taking off your head...

      • x 5
    53. Really!?! What year did they release this version? Hmmm, maybe they discontinued due to structure integrity if the torso material is all silicone. :aeyepop: That' gonna be tough supporting today's beefy arms and head.

Edit: I missed the part where you said it was on a 1/4 size body. With lighter limbs, now I wonder why T&D discontinued that body option :nowords:

    54. It was released ~march 2024 and I don’t know when exactly it was discontinued. It was released at the same time their normal 1/4 version of the 72cm v2 body was released.

Edit: I believe legend doll carried this option you could email them I suppose.

    55. I... had no idea they needed it... :ablink:

But I guess we've reached a place in BJD sculpting that you can actually use these on your dolls. Newbie me 15 years ago was thrilled with "anatomically realistic", but man, I would never have imagined condoms would be the logical conclusion...
