^ Cardinal (My EID Tedros) will eventually have to have his Adept armor... That spikey red stuff the original's wearing in this screen shot... I found a smith who does small-scale armor work who's convinced he could do it, but it'll end up costing considerably more than the doll himself when all's said and done. o_O His partner Kestrel (my Bibiane-) still needs her wings, too.

^ up to $200, but I am willing to make it $250 or a little more if it's like a rare 10-item dress or my grail(?) outfit.

^ I have brought dolls to a restaurant. When I go out with my bestfriend we sometimes bring our resin friends with us.

^ I haven't taken my doll out much, yet, but now when the weather is getting better and warmer I'm surely going to get her outside more often!

v How many pairs of eyes you have and which are your favorite?

 

^ One pair for each doll and one extra pair for each to change if I want to make the photo some roleplaying, and ~7-8 pairs just because I made it and want to have it Smth around 50 pairs?.. Wow, didnt count
I make eyes by myself, so I "collect" the eyes^^

v How many or your dolls are "done"? How many dolls do you have?

 

^ The main ones are mostly done. I have eight completed ones, one side project who's technically done, and two bodies plus three floating heads for NPCs, two of which have faceups and wigs (one doesn't match the NPC bodies, but if she's fully clothed I can add matching hands and put her in the background anyway). As far as main characters go, Carlos still lacks hair (I haven't quite made up my mind whether or not he'll get any to be honest) and Mike needs a body. But I knew that was going to be a long-term thing.
Carlos needs to be done by the time my next big orders come in, as he's a main character and I don't like having more than one of them in progress at the same time. I've never ever had so much resin on order! Enough dolly projects to last the year, I guess.

< Heh. On days like this I like my job. Expected work and a visit from the mentor, got the graduating classes' annual joke / party / show thing. Works for me!

v How many dolls do you have vs. how many are/were you planning?

 

^ I currently have 29, but I actually expect that number to go down. I don't think I was ever planning on a specific number, to be honest. I didn't start out in the hobby with a goal of having a certain number of dolls, nor did I ever believe I'd only have "just one". I have one more planned, possibly two, and then I think I'll be done buying resin for quite a long time.

< urghhh....so tiredddd.... *faceplants on keyboard* On an up note, I got my package from Freedom Teller yesterday and Aubrey's new suit is absolutely gorgeous. haha Aubrey is so spoiled.

V Do you have a doll that's more spoiled than the others? The one who just seems to get everything?

 

^ Christian gets a LOT of things, but he's my number one, so that only makes sense. But the spoiling goes in spurts, where I make more things for one doll than the others. Severus has been getting very spoiled lately, but it's just so much fun finding little bottles and awful things to put in them for his potions shelf. XD

v To turn the question inside out, do you have a doll that doesn't get quite as spoiled? Is there a particular reason why?

 

^ Yes. Most of my dolls don't get as spoiled. There are many reasons for this - sometimes I think they're perfect as is (my Volks Michele hasn't changed since I had his outfit made. I recently gave him new eyes and a new wig, that's it.), finding them the few things they need to be perfect is easy and I've done it, their character isn't insanely over-developed, or I just don't care about them as much as my other dolls (truth). Or, they only really need a few things to be really complete, but they're complicated and specific, so buying them random things is a waste of my money (Uriel and his eyes and wig and hat). So many reasons.

Also got my doll's suit yesterday in the mail - My Ringdoll K / Dollmore Model hybrid looks amazing, and is currently wearing more money than I have spent on any outfit ever (his shoes are included in this). Too bad he's going to have to share with the Joker. I may have to find more....too bad crazy colors and basic black and/or white don't seem to exist in their size.

V Have you ever found yourself wanting or even buying something you thought you'd never want/own? Can be dolls or accessories.

 

^it depends. I said I'd never want a doll I didn't have a fleshed out character for and one of my wishlist dolls and one of my heads didn't have super fleshed out stories, but I'm more excited for this head than I was for most of my dolls that I had characters for. I think this is a cool way to get a feel for a character though, letting the doll tell me who she wants to be..

<heads. I have two floating bodies, my kingdom for heads!

v Are you waiting on any doll things right now?

 

^ Yup. I'm waiting on some doll stands from Alice's collections, and I just got a shipping notice for some things from Dollmore. Most importantly, I'm waiting for my three big girls (IMPL Alma & Azalea and Dollmore Ipsae) to come back from getting their faceups done.

^ I bought a handmade Shrine madien outfit from someone at a Dolpa.. I regret nothing..

^ hmmmm I kinda want to say fairyland Mirwen. I've had the f60 version a few years back and now I have a minifee. Sometimes I think I want a second minifee mirwen *.*

^ Ears. ears used to kind of freak me out if they were weird or too big....now I like the big ears.

V Have you ever been faced with a sudden discontinuation of a doll you kind of liked, but weren't sure if you wanted? How did you respond? Quickly buying just in case? Saying "oh well, not meant to be"? Other?

 

^ Yes. When Souldoll announced the end of their Double line, I was very distraught, because there was no way I was going to be able to scare up enough money for Gisele, who I had waffled on for years but didn't quite know what I wanted to do with her. I just sort of went "oh well, that's too bad" and went on with my life. I became furious shortly after their final sale ended and I knew *exactly* how I wanted to style her, that I wanted her to be named Matilda, what sort of personality she had, etc. I swore and kicked and went hunting to all of Souldoll's dealers and everywhere else to see if I could maybe hopefully find one magically in-stock, but to no avail. (My brother Wotan, who has remarkable foresight and exquisite luck, had jumped on the final sale, knowing that I had waffled for years on Gisele, and surprised me Christmas morning with Gisele, in kit form. I spent a very happy Christmas afternoon and evening putting her together.)

< I'm not going to repeat this mistake with Isabel and Freya. As soon as I am done with my current layaway, I'm going to start on them. ^^;

^ Twice. IH Bianca I got in a re-release. Soom Ignim I pined over for a while (she's the only Soom sculpt I ever really liked), but the OC I wanted her for has now been shelled in other form.

< Tempest in a teapot at le work. A.k.a. kids do kid stuff, adults get their adult panties in a very, very responsible and rational twist. Oh well. One of these days even the oldest of old-timers will realize they can't stop progress, no matter how much it scares them.

v Are your dolls' characters more likely to be on the rebellious side or abide strictly by traditional rules?

 

^ My dolls are wanderers. I don't see them as rebellious or following rules.

^ nope, but some of them are friendship ideals! :-D

^ If ever there was a question for me this is it. Every single one of my dolls except for perhaps three, are either a direct self doll, or an embodiment of some aspect of myself. Avery is bravado and charm, Ichigo is my kind and generous nature, Ro is my playful peter-pan syndrome adult self, and Robbie is the closest to true me as I'm ever likely to have in resin form.

^ All of them share something with me. I can't RP or write characters that I don't have any common ground with, so ... yeah. But that's pretty much it for now.
I am however considering transforming my Elfdoll Yuan who is currently "free" (her OC was reshelled) into one of my early alter ego / Star Trek OCs who may be as close to a "self" doll as I get. My sister, some friends and I used to create Star Trek alter egos (most of them aliens) for ourselves that we proto-RPed, who were still supposed to be "us", and this was mine. ("Jany" is actually an abbreviation of her name so ... yeah. Pretty much a self, albeit a Bajoran one.) As for why/not ... I wouldn't want a complete "self" doll (human, Real World setting, all that) because usually my dolls are from a story, so a "self" would pretty much mean a Mary Sue. Yuan is an exception because I already have her, she's not from the story (not even from the same world), and would remain apart from the story dolls because she'd have to be modded and visibly non-human.

< Not sure that made sense to anyone but me. Not even sure it makes sense to me, come to think of it. Oh well.

v How do/did you come up with your dolls' backstories? (If you don't, how do you come up with names and styles?)

 

^ I tried to come up with back stories but over complicate things which means I get frustrated easily. Their stories come from parts of me that I wish existed or fantasy tales I wish were real.
As for names. I'm a teacher so find naming dolls hard as I don't want any relation to any students last I'd future so my dolls tend to have not normal human names. If they come with a name they tend to keep it.

v Do you prefer an original or an existing character for your doll?

 

^ Original? I'm not sure I understand this question, tbh. All my characters are both 'original' and 'existing' since all of my characters and their worlds were created by me, and all of them existed long before I ever entered (or even knew about) the BJD hobby. None of my characters are 'fandom' characters; they aren't based on anyone else's characters or stories. Many of them have been around for literally decades. They would exist even if I didn't have resin avatars to represent them, and would continue to exist even if I no longer had the dolls.
