^ Have as many dolls as I do XD I knew I'd have more than one... but I really wasn't expecting to have more than ten.

< And now that I actually have a story/universe that fits all of them, I have ideas for at least four more...

v Is there something you always thought you would do in the hobby but haven't?

 

^ I always thought that I would do doll mods since I got into this hobby because I do sculpture

v what size is your resin crew mostly comprised of? SD YOSD or MSD?

 

^ LLT Lazuli. They aren't hard to find, but the prices keep getting higher and higher. There will be a rerelease, but the neck will probably be the wrong size. And I don't even know what color I need because the body hadn't been released. Oh well.

^^ SD, with a single tiny. And an idea for another SD...

v Which doll have you had the longest?

 

^ The two I've had the longest are Ringdoll Sol twins. Ash in January 2013, Evz head arrived in March about 2 weeks before Dray's head.

< Yay for shipping notices I'm hoping for one today myself.

v How many characters do you plan to make with dolls?

 

^ Most likely to be cooking would be Blaze, as her character is a chef at a restaurant. Least likely would be Ephemera, since she's a fairy princess and never learned how.

< I need to get a full-time job. My current part time job barely covers my bills, with no money for dolls.

V How long does it usually take you to save for a doll?

 

^ Months. I used internship money at first, but my current job pays so little it is taking a while. I should get a tax refund though. I've never made enough for that before, so I am kind of excited.

> My throaty is sore, but at least I don't feel as bad as I did this morning.

v Which doll is currently giving you trouble?

 

^ Jia probably... Not because he directly gives me trouble but the fact that he needs a body and I can't seem to find the one perfect body for him... It's quite hard... To have his head staying in the box while even Aoi without wig and clothes is allowed to sit outside... I miss having Jia out as well...

< My boyfriend wanted to go out with me for valentine's day... And then that baka got really badly ill... ;-; I feel so sad because it was our first Valentine together... Meeeeeeeeh... ;-;

v Do you've a doll on order currently? How long is the approximate waiting time for it? And how much of that time already has passed? ^-^ Gonna have a new dolly soon or will it be another few months of waiting? And if you don't have one on order, how long might be the waiting time for the next doll you plan ordering if you've any knowledge about that?

 

^ I'm waiting on an Asleep Eidolon Arweil merman! I ordered him January 1st, so it's been just over a month and a half! Wait times seem to be around the 4-5 month mark so I've still got a few months to see my precious merbaby XD I'm also waiting on a secondhand Fairyland Vampire Lacrima who is coming all the way from Russia to me in Australia! Hopefully she'll be here in a week or so.

< So many doll projects I want to start, but I'm starting my Master of Teaching (Primary) in a few weeks and I'm going to be too busy! I will make it happen though, just gotta have a good schedule.

v Do you buy most of your dolls secondhand or brand new from the company and why?

 

^ Both. I usually check second-hand first, because the wait is shorter....but if I can't find what I need I'll buy from the company. And of course there are things like LEs (which I don't get often) or things that are brand new that you can't get second-hand, and discontinued items that you can only get second-hand. So it really depends on what I'm looking for.

V Where is your favorite place to buy clothes for your dolls?

 

^
Depends on the doll, haha! For my SD13 sized dolls, I really love Little Moda, Sadol, Tree Design, TTYA, and Greentime. My Iplehouse SID is a pain in the ass and he barely has clothes, soooo I guess Freedom Teller or IH. I've got a few Etsy shops I'm looking at commissioning (SartoriaJ).

What's your next big doll purchase?

 

^ I had a hugely surprising reaction from my genderfluid sibling, when he learned than my Doll Chateau Dolores was a MtF mod (I just removed the male part because I needed a flat chested lanky body) because he thought that was the coolest thing ever and honestly I was so floored by that reaction that I love my Dolores even more now.

< mom is sick and I'm trying not to worry but her immune system is comprised and I just worry...

V best doll related thing to happen to you?

 

^ Joining the gift a newbie thing. It was such a great welcome. And that stuff still makes up the majority of my boy's wardrobe. Going to a doll meet is a close second, though I have yet to be able to make another one.

v Your doll finds a hundred dollar bill (or the equivalent in their world). What do they do?

 

^ Cry. Seriously, John is dead broke. He has 36¢ to his name so $100 is a small fortune and he might be able to actually eat for a few days without having to beg food off his three friends...

V Do any of your other hobbies cross over with BJDs?

 

^ Yes woodworking, leathercraft, painting and sewing all are used with my BJD hobby.

< Hoping my little tabletop tripod will help me get some non-shaky photos.

v What would make your doll(s) do a happy dance?

 

^ yeah actually BJD hobby does cross into lolita fashion/japanese street fashion a bit. We also wear the cute frilly clothes in everyday settings. our fashion was inspired by victorian era clothing and victorian rococo doll clothes i got into bjd through a friend of mine in the lolita fashion community also.
Currently my doll is wearing a very gothic ish one piece dress that maybe Ill create a life size in the future just to match her haha. I want her to wear Baby the Stars Shine bright clothes in the future when I get my hands on them. The one I currently want is


^Since I was answering in the middle of the above poster Ill answer the question above haha. Along the same lines, I think if my dolls got a new lolita fashion outfit they'd have a super happy dance, just like me when I obtain one of my dream dresses.

> i need to keep studying for my MCAT, have to get into medical school and maybe I can have my own space again, ill decide how my room looks and surround myself in my own creative space, and get to be back into school again. i still dream about a day that Ill put a white coat on my doll during my white coat ceremony. v have you ever felt like bjds were a distraction to your everyday normal life? Like when you had to focus on studying but you just kept looking at your doll because it was so cute. Or you just got a new doll and you just wasted hours on end trying to find an outfit or some supplies to give it the perfect look?

 

^ crazyiest mod (as in crazy good) has been a 3rd eye mod, I can't even remember who did it but it matched the shape, proportion and spacing of the original eyes so well and it was also something of a surprise reveal because the doll had a thick enough bangs (fringe) to completely cover it until it was revealed.

< tmi about time of the month, wickedly tempestuous mood swings and just wanting to eat all the greasy fried food on the planet followed by a mountain of sweets Is it weird to just wish for premature menopause?

V please share the best doll photo you've ever seen and tell why it's the best for you.

 

^ I don't know if it's "the best" out of all since I've seen so many in my life. But recently the best must be these: My Valentine by frigida
I just so so much adore and love the aesthetics and the lightning in those pictures! They make me feel warm and comfortable, make me wish to snuggle up and rest and sleep. Definitely something I need and missed for Valentine's since my boyfriend was terribly sick and I had to take care of him as well as work...

< My fingers are freezing despite sitting right beside the heater... ;-;

v Does your doll have a significant other? Did they spend Valentine's Day together? What did they do~?

 

^ Adhara and Guórén are "seeing" each other exclusively and even have kids together, but they're really discreet about their relationship due to their social and career circumstances. Valentine's isn't celebrated where and when they are, but I would imagine that they'd send anonymous gifts to each other with a coded message giving away where it came from.

< The simulated lace wig is finally starting to look awesome! A shame my hands can't thread the hairs through the headcap 24/7 or this would go the hell a lot faster.

v If your dolls' characters are going to put together a food spread for a party or get-together, what would they come up with?

 

^ i think my dolls since they are lolita fashion driven they would probably have a teaparty. So the usual sandwiches, fruity teas, finger foods and sweets. maybe a pizza on the side haha

> lol i noticed alot of people on this post answer the wrong question because they are in the middle of writing or they saved a draft... so ill ask my question again. i actually was able to get ahold of my grail volks dress for my doll and im currently trying to find the human sized version so I can twin. I am also in the middle of trying to purchase another harajuku fashion set by volks.

^ Definitely not the wait. I love the planning stage and figuring out what I want for every part of the doll. I think I'm about to order my first doll all as a full package, so that will be a big difference in how I've done it before.

< Waiting on this ordering period to open up is killing me!

v What's the biggest mistake you've made with your dolls?

 

^ I think looking back, I may have second guessed myself too much and chose a few dolls that I wouldn't have gotten had I known I'd have the collection I have now, maybe? But who can say which dolls will ever come up for sale again really? I never thought SOOM Sard in Cream White would come out as a release from the company again but he finally did! Ditto for that one last 'final sale' on older bodies and Saint from Dollshe. Or that Gentaro Araki would surprise us with a new set of 1/3 girls?
So I guess 'never say never' but don't have any regrets either?

< it has been raining here for nearly 24 hours straight so everything has a soggy chill and it's gloomy. I hope there is no flooding. Even the cats' fur feels a bit damp! I made a big pot of chili to keep cozy though!

V What was a doll you never thought you would like or find appealing but have come to like now?

 

^ definatly DC anything but I’m finding I really like them thes days

V what type of eyes do u like, for example acrylic, glass, urythane?

 

^ i enjoy urethane eyes because theyre have alot of depth and look great in photographer. They change color depending on lighting as well, theyre so detailed. (Oscar eyes are my favorite)

V your favorite clothing store for your dolls?

 

^ I don't really make a lot for my dolls, but I've started to make resin eyes. I have only made one batch so far, and they're all finished as of this week, and I love how they look in a group lol so that's a lot of fun. Time consuming. And I have yet to master it...but they're so pretty! I tried to do some bloodshot ones last night. Well see how they turn out when I pull them out of the molds tonight!!

V What is your wish list for this year? Anything exciting on it?

 

^
Actual dolls this year! I think I might bring home like... 3 SDs. Oof. I've got one head on order, and looking for two more bodies. I also think I'm gonna do a big Enchanted Doll eyes order and I'm pretty stoked about it.

< I really need to get back into sculpting in Maya.

What's something you've had a hard time finding for your dolls?

 

^ Wigs! My dolls are almost all mature tinies with 4" heads, so finding wigs that fit right is hard. It's also sometimes hard to find the style I want in the color I want. I never know if something will work until I get it and try it.

< I need to get a better paying job so I have money for dolls again. I hope my interview on Friday goes well!

V Do you have any odd or quirky dolls in your group?

 

^ Gobbie! She is the only tiny and only fantasy doll. I hope to make her props like spears and a bow and arrows, and turn her green with white hair on her head and feet, with lots of ear piercings. But I rarely have time for any projects any more.

v What is the most elaborate prop you have made?

 

^Nope! One thinks he's a human (but little does he know he's actually a changeling) and the other is a god.

<The next will probably be a ghost...

V SURPRISE YOUR DOLL IS HAUNTED. Assuming they figured out they were haunted, what would they do?

 

^ Assuming they were haunted by the "spirits" of my characters. Probably harass me to write their stories, buy them more clothes, bring home more of their family members, stop picking on them, ect.

< I want one of those OT Pico dragons from AileenDoll. So freaking cute.

V Your doll likes musicals and will only pose perfectly if a musical soundtrack is playing. What musical is it for your doll?

 

^ For Kali, my Real Puki Aki, it would be Wicked. She's a witch, but she's not very dangerous, partly since she's so small!

< I finished an outfit for one of my tinies last night, now on to the next project.

V Love the question, so passing it on- Your doll will only pose perfectly if the soundtrack to a musical is playing. What musical is it for your doll?

 

^ Probably it would be something like Tarzan for Jia... Simply because he'd also need to pose on ropes, poles and so on. He'd have fun in a jungle... Well, as long as it's a stage jungle only though, in a real jungle he'd not survive so long... XD

< Need to finally get my sewing machine to work... ;-;

v Like the question but will alter it a bit because I guess 'musical' is kinda limited and not all too many people know musicals very well: Your doll only poses well if any soundtrack (musical, opera, movie, tv show, ...) is playing! Which one and why?

 

^ CATS (now and foreverrrr). They know they are also Jellicles.

< ok, maybe it’s for me because I can’t be in anything but a good mood listening to CATS and they would play it for me so we would play longer. I usually listen to a ballet when fiddling with the smaller doll things in a diorama. That and long tweezers are soothing for my impatience!

V who is your rebel, who is your goody two shoes? Or do you have either or both of these types among your dolls?

 

^ It's pretty easy to relegate Adhara to the role of rebel and Guórén as the goody-two-shoes, but they have personality quirks that make them not totally yin to the other's yang. For one, Guórén could be ruthless and inflexible even if he usually does his best to be socially acceptable, and Adhara wants to foster good family ties despite favoring meritocracy where her syndicate's succession was concerned.

< I have this huge energy slump after spending the entire weekend in a convention. D: Not ready to get back to working just yet.

v Do your dolls' characters like solving riddles? Or would they rather blast down obstacles through use of sheer power?

 

^ Well. I do have The Riddler as a doll. XD

V Were any of your doll's characters based off an outside source?

 

^ The character dolls, for sure. Mainly off their original properties, plus a dash of an online RP AU that brought the group together.

But my first doll's character was originally lightly influenced by the title character from Phantom of the Opera. That's pretty much entirely gone from now, other than my own memory of it, but early on it was definitely there (it may have been light, but it was clear).

And Maca (my puki) was originally somewhat based on a combination of the character Macavity from CATS/Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats and an actual cat I had when I was younger who was named for the character. She still has the sass of the real cat.

< No more snow, please. After this past week, I'm so done with snow.

v It's a neat question, so I'll pass it down: Were any of your doll's characters based off an outside source? (Either in full or in part?)

 

^ Brodie, my DZ Megi, was partially inspired by my favourite character in the Maze Runner trilogy. Everyone else is original, though I'm always drawing inspiration from different stories, characters, and genres.

< So many things I could/should be working on... and all I want to do is go play Skyrim...

v Do you make or buy your dolls' clothing and props?

 

^ It depends! I like making things but I'm not very good so I normally try to make it and then when it fails I'll see if it's available online (or sometimes i see if it's available and then I try making it). I strongly prefer making things because it tends to be less expensive. I do often end up just buying things unless said thing isn't available like let's say a blue polo shirt with blue stripes (preferably in a very specific design) which no one apparently makes.

< I can't even find that shirt IRL in stores for myself, only online. But some day, some day...

V Your doll's character does something that ends up being posted online by someone else and it goes viral! Now they're popping up on every laptop screen and kids'll dress like them for Halloween. What does their iconic outfit soon-to-be costume look like?
(If your doll is from a time/world where there is no internet then any form of massively popular media or anything else that'll work is fine)

 

^ Hmm, let me think for a moment...well, from what Tahmos' attire currently is, it'd be a pair of shiny blue tight pants with a black high-neck halter top.

< I'm still working on the design for it admittedly...

V If your character were to be animated in one particular animation style, what would it be? (A particular anime? Cartoon?)

 

^ I'd right away go with One Piece kinda animation style. Though mostly because I love it so much... It would fit some of my characters, like Reito for example. Though for Aoi and Jia something like Durarara! style of animation would be a lot better. But yeah, round about that kinda animation style, maybe just a mix or so.

< Had a great big talk about financial problems with my boyfriend yesterday... Gosh do I feel scared for my hobby interests now... All so expensive hobbies...

v Your doll got a main role in a movie or tv show or similar: What kind of show is it? And is he main protagonist or antagonist?

 

^ He would be the protagonist. It's a pseudo documentary slash expose on cryptozoology and fantasy beings 'hidden among us'. He is a faun.
But my incoming doll would usurp the spotlight as the antagonist because he is an angel. Add a displaced 4-armed goddess in disguise with her sidekick, a crabby but tiny and very old djinn in the form of an anthromorphic kitten and shenanigans ensue.

< I'm hungry but it's morning and I'm too lazy to cook so I'm eating tuna and cheese for brekkie.

V what's a doll you really like but somehow just never would buy? Why not?

 

^ I've always loved leekeworlds Mikhaila, she has a really cute face and I adore her body. But I don't think I'll ever buy her cuz as much as i love her body it's kind of hard to find good clothes that fits her and that aren't that expensive.

< I'm really hungry but I'm to lazy to make something atm x)

V what's the best body according to you?

 

^The Ringdoll grown and teen bodies are the best posers I have so I'll have to go with them, They are so heavy but can hold poses none of my other dolls bodies can. I have the 01 & 03 grown and both teen bodies.

< Of to the big city for Doctors appointment and shopping until I drop. wheee!

v I like the anime question. What style would your characters fit into best? (I think mine would be in the Samurai 7 style.)

 

^ I was going to skip this question because I couldn't think of anything, then I remembered Trigun....my characters would definitely fit into a Trigun-style anime.
Unless it was Alex. Then fluffy Shojo meets horror.

V Similar but different question -- in what type of media do you think your dolls story could best be told?

 

^ I think a musical would be hilarious so I'll go with that. First song would probably be something angsty and then "I accidentally summoned a demon and now he won't leave me alone". There would, without a doubt, be a song devoted to pigeons or Wendy's.

< If I had any musical talent I would make that happen.

v I really like this question so I'm passing it down, in what type of media do you think your dolls story could best be told?

 

^ Comic form. Of course, that is probably because I plan on making photostories eventually. It's just taking a good long while.

v Can you remember a time where you saw another person's doll and it made you realize how nice a sculpt was, and did you end up getting it? Pics if you can.

 

^ heck yeah! I'd been spending months looking for a sculpt to reshell Winry when her original one wasn't working out, and had a long list of "Well... maybe?" sculpts, but nothing that was really speaking to me enough to place an order. I was looking around for an owner photo of something, I can't even remember what, and stumbled on a photo of a doll I'd seen and completely skipped over on the site--but in the owner photo, she was perfect. I went back to the site, skipped over the ones I had been thinking of, and looked at her listing again before deciding she was the perfect fit.

< ugh, way too much going on these days.

v Is there a doll currently in your collection where you'd previously said, "there's no way I'll ever want that sculpt/company in my collection!" Why didn't you want it and what changed?

 

^ My favourite thing to make is tiny origami, it always ends up looking so nice. My least favorite is probably clothes. No matter how hard I try it never ends up fitting my doll.
(My favourite thing to shop for is any kind of prop and my least favorite is any kind of wig. Wigs never fit.)

< Maybe I should just fold an outfit and wig. Maybe it'll actually fit then.

V what's one thing you've always wanted to buy for your doll that you just can't find anywhere?

 

^ A motorbike model that would fit my SD boy.

< I need to get motivated and create some more outfits for my boy.

v What one word would you use to describe BJD?

 

^Since BJDs encompasses so many different things all I can think of is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It's the one word that contains it all.

< Not feeling so super today, and hubby is sick. I don't want to get sick next. I'm hoping he has caught what I already went through. Is that bad????

v What is your most frequently used comment to your dolls?

 

^ Prism would go hungry for tickets to Afropunk! She's super into music, and the chance to dress up would be cool af.

V if given the chance to trade lives with your oc/doll for a day (their story, not the rl sitting on a shelf bits) would you?

 

^ YES. I don't care if it's Bob or Drew, I think it'd be a lot of fun! It'd also be a great way to get to really know what it's like being them.
