The ^ < v Game! - Part 4

^ Since Jace and Ed came out of a RP, this was actually a thing that happened with them! Jace had a huge crush on Ed, who definitely had interest back, but was just oblivious in general, really. They ended up alone together after some stressful events, sitting together turned into sitting very close together, into cuddling, making out and finally kissing, after which Ed may have finally figured some things out. They decided to stay together after the game, so when I finally started working on the Ed doll I'd been planning out for ages, I decided to give him his boyfriend, too.

< Ugh, cooking makes everything too hot... I need an instapot or something.

v I like that question so I'm going to repeat it; your character's love interest shows reciprocated interest, but is oblivious to your character's interest! What do they do?

 

^ that's...super confusing, but I'll see if I understand what you mean. Character A likes Character B, and B is showing signs of liking A too, but A completely misses the signals B is giving? Is that it?
Because this would be Noé and Scarlett, who have been best friends since they were seven years old. They're both in love with each other and are, in fact, also sexually involved, but neither one of them thinks of them as being in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Everybody else sees what they don't see in themselves, and they keep insisting that they're "not together". They're actually quite content with their relationship the way it is, though. Neither one of them really wants to upset the status quo.

< Urgghhhh... WHY did I bring paperwork home? *headdesk* But I has a resin boy sitting on top of the filing cabinet to keep me company, so all is not as bad as it could be.

V What is your doll/character's least favourite chore?

 

^ Rog was hired as a computer guy but he also is the bartender at the pub when there is no computer work to do. His least favorite chore is sweeping out the pub at 2:30am. *yawn*

< Now what? Get the girl a refrigerator and she wants a new ac unit. Kids jk.

^ Bash hates anything anyone tells him to do. He'll get to it when he gets to it, damn it.

v The police are coming. What did your character do? Are they innocent, or guilty? Do they run, fight back, panic, or surrender?

 

^ Rei got drunk and rowdy. Again. He's guilty as sin, of course, though mostly of being a loud nuisance than causing any real harm. Christian makes him go as quietly as possible with the police, unless Sebastian can convince them that yes, Rei's going home to sleep it off, and sorry to be a bother, officer.

< Wow, I feel like writing again. That's a bit of an achievement there.

v What's your doll/character's vice of choice?

 

^ For both Aubrey and Tyler, it's chocolate (if chocolate can be considered a vice?). Actually, pointless risk-taking is probably Tyler's vice, as well as the vice of his twin brother Michael. Noé's vice is definitely sex. Reid has a lot of vices, the most prominent of which are sex and alcohol. Scarlett's vices are cigarettes and sex (mostly with Noé, but they're definitely not exclusive). Wyatt's is drugs.

V What was the most you ever spent at one time on clothing, shoes or accessories for your doll?

 

^^ DAMMIT TOO LATE Probably the several hundred I spent when I bought Joker the suit that he only uses the shirt of, and Pendergast the same suit John also has. Both were bought at once and I got a bunch of extras on top. Stupid Sadol takes all my money now.

V Is your favorite doll also your favorite character?

 

^ Hmm... This is a hard one. All my dolls and characters are my favorites for different reasons, I guess. Ilya is pretty special both character- and doll-wise, but I just can't put one definitively above all the others. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

< Ug... I want a Fall in Doll Force so badlyyyyy... I really hope they don't sell out again by the time I start my new job.

v Someone has declared themselves your doll/character's sworn rival! How do they react?

 

^ Depending on who it is, Bash laughs in their face and ignores them, or destroys them on the spot. Faelan is confused. Why are they his rival? All he does is his hobbies and target practice, where's the competition?

< Weh. I'm so glad today is over... tfw ur knees hurt so bad you cry when you get a client.

v 2 of your characters switch bodies. Who is it, and how do they react? Do they know how it happened?

 

^ haha I love this question! I think it'd be hilarious for Tyler and Michael to switch bodies. They love each other to death, but they'd absolutely hate living each other's lives even for a day. There'd also be the fact that Tyler is blind and Michael isn't, so they'd each have a challenge coping with the other's level of ability to see. I think Tyler would probably struggle more trying to wrap his head around living in a very visual world than Michael would struggle to function as a blind person. No idea how this would happen, but it's still amusing to think about.

< I ate breakfast, so why am I hungry?

V Is your doll/character a fan of breakfast or do they usually skip it?

 

^ John doesn't eat breakfast in the morning (or whenever he wakes up), only coffee. He's a terrible "morning" person and can't handle more than that...

V Are your characters obsessed over any fandoms?

 

^ Sky is obsessed with Pokémon. Michael is also obsessed with Pokémon but he tries to keep that as secret as possible because he's "supposed to be an adult." Élise, Annie & Coco love Hello Kitty and Disney Princesses. David has a thing for the anime Bleach. Rowan is obsessed with Batman.

< I gotta call the Apple store. It may be cheaper just to get iPhone 7 than to get my iPhone 6 fixed...

V How important is your doll/character's phone to them?

 

^ Christian forgets his phone everywhere. Rei would probably curl up and die if he didn't have access to his phone at all times. XD Alan's phone seems to be permanently attached to his hands. Everyone else is in between Christian and Rei's extremes.

v Do you have any "fandom" dolls or costumes?

v Pass the question, it's interesting: Do you have any "fandom" dolls or costumes? If no, would you like to have one?

 

^ I don't have any yet, but I do have a couple I want! On top of making cosplays for my current dolls, I'd love another DZ Carter to be Midousuji Akira from Yowamushi Pedal (love this creepy guy). I'd also really like to have Ushijima Wakatoshi and Bokuto Koutarou from Haikyuu!! (Bokuto basically is my favorite character ever, so...) I'd probably have some more if I kept thinking, but those are the big ones!

< *sighs* I really should have a doctor check my poor wrist and finger joints. But why do that when you can procrastinate? ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

v What would be your doll/character's dream job?

 

^ Too slow on the phone... I haven't done much yet with Arthen (he was a quick "oh no he's being discontinued" purchase), but his dream job is the one he was groomed for, leading his people... Which he lost out on, and yes, he's bitter.

^^ Oh gosh yes. Three of my six groups are mixed fandom character dolls! (Mix of anime, western animation, books, and games.)

v What does your doll want most in the world?

 

^ A happy life, together with his loved ones. (And for me to shell said loved ones, lol. h-help)

< It's so gloomy out today!! There better be rain on the way. It rained pretty fiercely yesterday too...

v How does your doll handle spicy foods?

 

^ Elliot... doesn't. Ollie would bite off more than she could chew and be too stubborn to admit it as she fights tears. Ji-Han has about the same tolerance level as Ollie, but unlike her, he knows his limits. He might be dared to go past them though, at which point he would put his head down and quietly suffer.

v Your doll has a headache. Why, and how do they deal with it?

 

^ Aelic stayed up too late reading and strained his eyes. He'd just take an Aspirin and a hot shower and get to bed, though he'd probably just do the same thing the next night.
Ilya gets fairly bad headaches when he's out in the heat for too long, since he was made for very cold climates. So when he has summer soccer games or something, he's out for the count afterwards until he gets some medicine (possibly a magic remedy) and an ice bath.

< Man, I hate when I can't find things. Curse my terrible searching abilities...

v Your doll/character misplaces something important. How long does it take for them to notice? How do they react?

 

^ Immediately. Both of them. Bash is furious on the inside, meticulously rips everything apart until he finds it... and if he can't he starts ripping the people who could have taken it apart until it turns up. Faelan panics a little, retraces his steps and if he can't find it he escalates quickly into tossing his room etc.

< Kitty cuddles make everything better!

v Are your dolls cat or dog people? Or other? If they could have any pet what would it be?

 

^ Good question, I've never thought of it, I think Marcus would like a big bad guard dog though, like a pitbull or something similar.
< I'm trying to write on my story, but Office just tries to install stuff on me, ugh! Stop already so I can write!
v What is your doll longing for right now? Marcus is longing for one of his kids to arrive (me too btw).

 

^ Furniture. All my furniture is 60cm scaled and my 70cm guys can't sit at the table or on the couch. They're sad.

V What kinds of props do you wish you had for your dolls?

 

^ Swords, books, dishes, armor. I could make the books, but I've been lazy.

v Waiting for any dolls? If not, what is your most recent one?

 

^ I'm waiting for my very first!!!! He's on his way to me in the mail right now. I've already got so much I want to do with him....!!

< I'm rather bored..... taking off work when sick is good for the body but I wish I had something to do!

v How does your doll react when they get sick? Do they try and tough it out, or are they a big baby about it?

 

^ My big babies are Drake, Evz and Thaddeus, though Thaddeus is really never sick he just acts that way to get attention. The other two expect to be babied, ugh. The rest are pretty good when they are ill, doing all the 'right things' to get well.

<Happy anniversary to us, 36 years with my best friend, yay!!!

v Who is your drinker and who is the designated driver?

 

^ Mara is the designated driver. Always. Occupational hazard of being the token adult in a group of .... well, this household, I guess? She's the only one with solid self-control. Chris has a long history of forgetting all promises once something upsets her, maybe vaguely recalling she wasn't supposed to drink for whichever reason after getting completely sh*tfaced.

< I'm about to find out who messed with my flutes. Heads will roll.

v Something your doll is very attached to gets broken. What is it, and how do they react?

 

^ Bash's girl's heart is really the only thing I can think of that he would be devastated to see break. Heads will roll for who or whatever hurt her, and he would do anything to right the wrong. Faelan.. perhaps his bow, being really his only prized material possession. He would try everything to repair it, but knowing that a bow is never the same after a repair it would just be to keep for sentimental
value. He would eventually accept and need to get a new one and would be incredibly picky about a replacement acquisition.

v Someone gives your doll a gift. The contents invoke intense emotion in them. Do they show it? What is the gift? How
do they respond?

 

^ For Ilya, it would probably be a gift having to do with his clan. Since he didn't really grow up with his clan, he missed a lot of ceremonies and whatnot. He definitely cried like a baby when Nikos gave him his first adult clan outfit.

< Man...I want a Dollits Miso so badly. She's so cute!

v Do you have a sculpt you used to dislike that you love now? Have you bought one?

 

^ Yes and yes! Dollshe Saint. I used to really not like him ... until I did. And now I've got Jaz. Yey!

< I CAN HAS CONCERT. I'm the happiest camper on earth.

v What makes your doll really happy?

 

^ Elliot loves quiet time to himself. Ollie loves adventure (or going on what she thinks are adventures). Ji-Han likes the afterglow of a task well done.

v Your doll suddenly has to watch two rambunctious kids over the weekend. How do they do?

 

^ Faelan is great with kids, and he has a playful side that comes out and lets him keep up with their antics. They have a great (and exhausting) weekend, and want to come back next week! Bash... struggles. Royally. Kids aren't his favourite, and he prefers to 'admire' them from afar. And even then, his preferred child age range is very particular: older than infant, but before they really have their own opinions to talk about. He truly has no idea what he's doing with older kids, especially ones that have authority and boundary issues. Basically, he manages to keep them alive (somehow) and never wants to see them again.

< Omg, I have to pack and I'm so tired...

v How do your characters prepare for a long trip? Are they careful planners or last minute scramblers?

 

^ Mara starts preparing weeks in advance. Chris will pull an all-nighter just before the trip to get everything done. Katie is somewhere in the middle - she's used to longish trips from when they went to visit her grandparents in Ireland, so she's got a basic packing list she can "recycle".. She'll start packing a couple days in advance, lose track, and end up throwing everything she thinks she might need on top of the "must have" stuff from the list. Nonetheless, one of them forgets her toothbrush.

< There's a Ferengi in my living room. Well, a sewing dummy wearing a headpiece, but still. Sewing dummies are the best invention ever. Drafting human patterns BJD style.

v Is there any doll project you'd love to try if funds, space and time didn't matter? What is it?

 

^ 1/3 scale doll house! Or at least a few rooms. as it is I only have my bedroom to store things in, and it's already full with my bed and bookcases. Maybe in the future I'll get a house with a spare room (I need a closed space so othewise the cats will mess everything up <_< )

< speaking of cats, one is currently jumping on walls and throwing things off tables as he runs through them *sigh*

v is there a character (original or from a series you like) that you would like to make into a doll, but can't because you can't find exactly what you need? What is this missing thing (fantasy parts, very specific nose shape, outfit, etc.)?

 

^ Oh yes. Several of my OCs would be cery hard to shell and would require lots of modding. Makoto is a humanoid robot that would need basically a complete body mod makeover to get his body to look like a robot and how I imagine him. Eiichi has six arms, four horns, tusks, and deep red skin...but the hardest part of shelling him so far has been his face. I haven't been able to find any MSDs that have the expression and aesthetic that I want. (There are some anthros and monster characters I have that I wouldn't even try to shell...)

< Uugggg... I have wanted to avoid wait times more than I do right now. I want my Miso nooowwwww...

v What are your most and least favorite parts of ordering a new doll? Do you enjoy the process overall, or do you find it stressful?

 

^ My favorite part is getting the doll and my least favorite part is spending the money. I do it kind of like ripping off a bandaid, but after the doll arrives, it stops stinging.

v Does your collection have a stopping point?

 

^ At the moment, yes. My two boys and 1 girl I plan on ordering next is my limit atm. However, I'm young and so is my bank account sooo.... I'm not writing anything in stone just yet!

v Money and availablity is no issue: what doll do you buy? Does this doll have a character yet? What mods/accessories would you buy?

 

^ doll Chateau y-body 06 with a zaoll luv head. Both in white. I'd buy a half ounce of alpaca in black and white for her wig, and a half ounce of brown for her old hair style. Silver eyes from DollBakery for her when they open ordering. Blue eyes for her human self. A custom sized wardrobe from Alice's Collections and a commissioned outfit from Beyond Wonderland. Feathers to make her wings with (two sets.) then I'll go write a few thousand more words aboutbher... I've had her character for 4 years, so...

<I'm so psyched about this doll though! She's next on my list!

V who is the next character you intend to shell, if you shell characters?

 

^ Well, I've been shopping furiously for my character Lacey-Rae for the last few days... I want to shell her as a Dollits Miso (who inspired her character), and I'm 99.9% sure she's gonna be the next doll I buy. (Her story reads a bit like a Hallmark movie, but sometimes you just need a break from the fantasy. )

< Speaking if Lacey... Why is it so hard to find shops with a modern, rustic, boho-chic style? Isn't that on trend these days? All I ask is for cute, horse-ranch-but-modern clothes...maybe a bit too much to ask?

v Your doll/character's best friend invites them over for a movie marathon! What would they be watching? How would the night play out?

 

^^ I just got a tiny to be an old goblin lady. She is the only character I made before finding a sculpt and she is based off the goblins in one of my fantasy stories, though her story is different from the one she is the most like.

^ Elliot would want something artsy, but Ollie would want action. Then Ji-Han would come by and Elliot would sense he'd get overruled without a compromise and they would watch something fantasy or sci-fi. Maybe Harry Potter?

v What doll do you wish existed?

 

^ At the moment I wish for Decim from Death Parade. I'd hand over the $ in a flash if I could get him right now, so I'm making a cosplay of him.

< Yay, the heat isn't terrible we were able to walk the blocks without dying of the humidity.

v What doll would you wish for?

 

^ F60 Shiwoo and El. I was definitely late to the Shiwoo and El party, but I've still got 3 of the former and 2 of the latter (and hoping to order a third later this year). And I love my old Delf versions, but I also love the look of the (long unavailable) F60 boy bodies, and would absolutely love to have both of them on the new bodies, too. Oh well, a girl can dream, right?

< Of course the sun came out just when we actually started the parade, I thought I might actually be comfortable this time. At least I wasn't alone with the heat...

v What's your ultimate dolly dream?

 

^ My full cast, perfectly fitting outfits and costumes with unique custom faceups for each character (and great photoshoot opportunities.)

< I hate being on someone else's time. You're late af, that's not my problem!!!!

v How do your characters handle disrespecful people/being taken advantage of?

 

^ Rose Tea is actually very used to hosting people that act hurtfully. She's probably the kind of person to just suffer them, gradually getting angrier with a polite smile, maybe trying to reason with them or inform them otherwise, trying to treat them well, getting quieter (but still angrier) as things heat up. She's trying to be a good person, almost to a ridiculous moral extent.
She'd probably usher them out with security if they're aggressive enough, kind of like the tropes in media. As for manipulation, she'll usually see right through it and just navigate around it. Kill them with kindness, I guess. Or endure only what you need to and stay far away afterwards, hahaha.
Although if she were actually deceived, she'd find a way to get back what was taken from her (non-aggressively) and heat up with rage.

As for A.R., they're so frightened and poor at coping with things like this they essentially stay away from /everyone/ to prevent meeting them in the first place! Most likely they'd just be very, very sad, outright refuse to play games and leave and then feel guilty afterwards.

v Have you ever found such perfect items, only to be devastated by the shipping price? What were they?

 

^Yes! I wanted some high heel feet and shipping was more than the feet

^ Thankfully, not yet! Though I have been tempted more times than I'd like to admit. Usually my wallet will hiss and I'll stop having such impure thoughts.

v What's the worst thing that's ever happened to one of your dolls?

 

^ Thankfully it's not been anything more dramatic than a few broken fingers and some scratched done-by-me face-ups. Those can still be traumatizing, to be sure, but it's not anything really horribly like irreparable breaks or getting stolen. ._.

< I feel so adulty already this week, and it's only Monday. Thankfully tomorrow is the last properly adulty and grown-up day for the week.

v Have you ever "rewarded" yourself with a doll-related purchase? If yes, what was it?

 

^I Did a split for Tacet's body (f60 moe) when I finished the first book in my series, to reward myself for finishing it. I get to buy one of her brothers when I finish the next one.

v Your doll wakes up in a strange place, with no memory of getting there. Are they alone? Indoors or outdoors? How do they feel/handle this?

 

^It's probably Ash and Evz has kidnapped him again to get him all to himself. They would be on an island not far from the coastline. Ash takes it all in stride since it is almost a quarterly thing with Evz.

<Thunderstorms make my dog crazy, still I like them.

v Swimming in the ocean a fin pops up, does your character/doll think it's a shark going to eat them or a dolphin coming to play?

 

^ Trick question, Elliot is too much of a scaredy-cat to get in the water. More seriously, Ollie would assume shark and tried to get a look. Ji-Han would not know which, but he'd assume shark until proven otherwise and stay away while trying to see what it was from a distance.

v Your doll needs a job. How does it go? What do they apply for?

 

^ Aelic would apply for a job at a library, and he'd probably get it because he knows waaaay too much about books and their care.
Ilya wants to be a star soccer player, but while he's waiting for that to take off, he'd probably apply at an aquarium or something like that. Maybe an amusement park where he could dress up and be funny and stupid. He'd do fine as long as he doesn't get too crazy.

^^ (Frick, too late!) Ilya wouldn't care; he'd just change to his seal form (a fully grown leopard seal) and either swim away or fight if he had to. (Aelic doesn't like the ocean, so he wouldn't be in there anyway. But if he found himself in that situation, he'd be freaking out.)

< To mini pizza or not to mini pizza...that is the question...

v A pretty basic question, but: how do you handle waiting? Do you ever avoid doll purchases because of the wait times?

 

^ Generally I try not to think about it until the doll arrives. Or I complain a lot. One of the two. I might use a long layaway, because if it's going to take forever anyway, why not.
And yes, actually. Many times I've stopped myself from buying from Dollshe, Dollzone and Doll Chateau because I know the wait is so long. I don't want to risk losing interest in the doll. I've jumped through hoops to buy things second-hand several times.

Likewise with some second-hand things. If the people have weird shipping schedules and can't ship for a week or more, I might pass it up. Sometimes I just want things now. Other times I'm ok with waiting. And complaining.

V What kind of poses do you want your doll to do, and why?

 

^ I want Elliot to be able to lean against a wall on one foot while putting his hand to his mouth. But his big SD butt can't do it. Maybe some sueding?

> That was a bit embarrassing. Time to avoid everyone.

v What does your doll do for stress relief?

 

^ Aelic and Ilya both exercise. Aelic seems like the type to sit and read or something (which he does love to do), but if he's really stressed, a good hard run will calm him right down. Ilya gets bored with plain running, so he'll kick a soccer ball around by himself or with his brothers, or go to a gym and change things up.

Toshi's stress relief habit is kinda bad; he'll just use magic to put himself to sleep and snooze right through it. By the time he wakes up, he's calm, but magic-induced sleep makes him woozy and groggy for a while afterwards.

< Oh no... Shopping for Lacey-Rae was a bad idea. I don't even have her yet and my wishlist for her is soooo long. Whoops.

v Do you shop for dolls you don't have? (Additionally, if you do, do you actually buy the things you find?)

 

^ aaaaaaaaall the time, and yes I often do buy things. If the doll is already ordered I go crazy with the shopping. If the doll is not ordered yet it depends on the price of the item or if it's something I could use for another doll (I won't buy a dollheart outfit if I don't already have a doll in the same size, but I might buy a $15 dress for a size I THINK I will get soon)

v what are some dealbreakers for you when shopping for a new doll (aside from unreliable/shady seller)?

 

^ The price of "extras" such as tan resin, mobility joints, seam sanding, etc. are frequently "deal breakers" for me. Price in general is a deal breaker, as is the current exchange rate. As for aesthetic deal breakers, I'm very picky about head size and eye size. If the proportions look too stylized or the head looks too young for the body, I don't want it.

V Have you ever wished you could leave the BJD hobby or that you never discovered it in the first place? (Sometimes i do.)

 

^ Yes. It's so pricy! But I'm trapped. Oh well.

^ Chris (the one in my avatar) says hers is pretending.
"Pretending to be something, to be feeling something I'm not ... pretending not to be or feel something. I'm so good at that I turned it into a job."

v Last q with a twist: What would your dolls say each other's talent was?

 

^ Faelan: "Intimidation and fear tactics."
Bash: "Tree hugging."

v What award would your doll win?

 

^ Christian would probably win something for academics or an essay, or he might win something in a talent show. I don't think the rest of my slackers would put themselves out enough to make an effort to win an award. ^^;
