^ Ed and Jace both tend to have nightmares. For Jace, it's watching the people he cares about being killed horribly, and for Ed it's being trapped, unable to move/speak/anything and never dying. And for both, horrible monsters that lurk in the dark. They both went through a pretty rough time for a while...

< I said I'd finish two stories by lunch. I'm on track to finish three by noon. Aww yeah.

v I want to see more answers, passing it down again: your doll characters worst nightmare? Or do you have a character who just never sleeps?

 

^Jae never really sleeps, he is an incubus and he survives in semi-sleep intruding on women's dreams all over the world. He rouses occasionally and will seduce women in person (ie his son's were concieved this way) but he doesn't sleep even then. Ash doesn't have nightmares but Evz does occasionally. His nightmare is that his twin, Ash, will leave him for another.

<I'm enjoying NaNo it is making me write stuff down that I should have long ago. Woohoo!

^ Conri has nightmares about being trapped with people hurting him and running from a fire people he cares about are caught in. Because his life was bad enough for a while that he has PTSD form it.

< Working on writing the stories about my dolls. Maybe I'll get at least a section of something finished.

V Do any of your dolls PTSD or emotional problems?

 

^ Yep, Jace, Ed, Razzy and Nico all have varying amounts of PTSD from a long, terrible experience they all shared, where they spent half a year to a year trapped in a pretty horrible place. (They're all AU fan characters based on an RP that was big on trauma.)

< Need to write... I know I made par for NaNo because I was one word short of it yesterday, but I still want to knock out the daily word count.

v What's your doll's darkest secret?

 

^ I would say that Rontu's darkest secret is that he's sorta inderectly the reason his family is dead.

^ They aren't really dark secret kinds of people. Ollie is hiding Gobbie from Elliot, but that is just because he wants to catch her in a jar. Oh, and Ollie and Elliot can tweak reality using the space between realities (it's a long story), and they try not to let others know that this power is actually open to almost anyone. Ji-Han could potentially do it too, but he just hasn't gotten the hang of it.

v What does your doll have trouble controlling.

 

^ Her abilities! She's a magical girl in a darker world. Trying to do too much without any patience!

v Have you ever regretted a doll purchase? (Full doll, not items)

 

^ yes, my littlefee chiwoo girl from Fairyland arrived with a 'crying' face-up and ... without a COA because the dealer never sent it. And the dealer closed not long after. On the plus side, it spurred me into wiping her face-up and doing my own.

V has the hobby led you to watch more films/series from Korea, Japan and China?

 

^Nah, but I've bought more costuming books and art books.... Alphonse Mucha is my current inspiration for photography goals.

vWhat ritual do you have when working with your dolls? (Ex: I always play podcasts when drafting/sewing.)

 

^ I have a similar thing, where I have to listen to podcasts while doing tattoos and faceups on Ian.

< Stranger Things is so good and it's quickly becoming an inspiration in my doll story please help me.

v Is there any media you've recently consumed that's becoming an inspiration for your doll story?

 

^ Nope, but I've recently seen Harley Quinn's outfit and I am thinking that'll be perfect for my F65. Don't know where the supplies will come from, mind you, as I've put myself under a 'no more textile buying' rule. I'll have to see if I've got white cotton and paint it for colours. Won't be perfect but I've been postponing textile painting for too long.

< I've got a headache, and why oh why does this man need to be picked up from his front door at 5am in the morning every morning??? It is sleepy time for the other families, man! Walk!!!!

V If you had to pick up a Korean actor to shell as a doll, who would you choose?

 

^No Min Woo, I love his face and expressions. Another favorite is Lee Joon-gi though there have been many minimees made of him I didn't like any of them. My Granado Raguel reminds me of Kim JaeJoong but I didn't turn him into one of his characters.

v Is there an actor or character that is not an OC you would like to shell into a doll?

 

^ Not an actor, per se, but ... Vladimir Vasiliev, the dancer, when he was young. ; u; " He'll always be prince charming for me. There are a lot of literary characters that I think would be fun to shell too (Dorian Gray, a lot of Shakespearean characters, mythological figures, etc) -- but it'd be easy to get carried away!

v If you could ask any company or creator for a custom sculpt, what would you ask for, and which company/artist would you choose to produce it?

 

^ I'd love a Soom Idealian London sized up to fit the 75cm body. I can dream .

< 2nd p of shorts done. Now to look for material for the next one.

V which of your dolls is the least spoiled?

 

^ Probably Elliot. He was an impulse buy but is definitely the low maintence one out of my crew.

< Ugh gosh my time off from the hobby has made me so impatient.

V What inspires you to create your dolls/characters for them?

 

^ Almost all of mine are existing characters of some sort, either my own OCs or a group of character dolls I've been assembling, so what inspires me to create the dolls is the desire to have a highly poseable 3D version of those characters. It's something I'd been craving for years, but wasn't able to realize until I got my first resin doll, and opened up the floodgates so to speak of creating more and more of my characters in BJD form.

< I think this Ariel doll I got today has scratched the itch I got from seeing all the cute "big baby" sculpts coming out, but now I want a couple more of these ones, too. At least they're cheap...

v If you have "character" dolls (not OCs), what inspired you to get dolls of those characters? If you don't have any, what could get you to buy/create one?

 

^ I working on the costume for my doll version of Hei from the anime Darker Than Black. It's one of my favorite series, and he's a character who walks the line between good guy/bad guy.

< Saving for the hybrid to be doll Garaa from Naruto, but Doll Chataeu's Ant girls are really tempting...

V Do you have any quirky/strange dolls?

 

^ Gobbie! She is a tiny goblin lady. All the rest of my dolls are SD human teenagers. Here's a pic, she's still hairless and unpainted:

^ No Marcellina maybe, but not really. The Middle-Earthlings aren't that quirky either.

v Your doll is conpletely wiped - not just normal tired, but drop-dead-into-bed exhausted. What did they do?

 

^ Tyler's most common reason for crying is because of chronic pain (although it's usually more out of frustration at not being able to do all that he wants to do, rather than from the actual level or duration of pain). He's also been known to cry due to anxiety related to eating, although he tries to do that in private. Due to his health issues, Tyler has a very difficult relationship with food.
Reid would be the first to tell you that tough guys don't cry, but he often wakes up crying from nightmares, mostly related to his experiences in Afghanistan
Aubrey cries for everything. He's an emotional crier and it doesn't take much to get him going, whether he's extremely happy, proud, sad, angry, frightened or any number of other emotional states.
Noé sometimes cries for reasons he has trouble articulating, generally related to his depression and anxiety. He's the least likely to cry in front of someone else.

< My life would be so much easier if I could drive, but you know...blind people driving isn't really a thing.

V What makes your doll/character truly happy?

 

^ Hotdogs. John is easy to please.

V I literally can't think of a question.... So a repeat: if you were going to get a character doll, which character would you get? Is there a mold that would work for that character?

 

^ well, not an answer I’m ultra proud of, but Neferet from the House of Night series, who I have an elaborate series of backstories and headcannons on. She’s a character who was really important to me the way I write her when I was like 14, and I think either an Iplehouse Doria on the large bust HiD body or impldoll aurora, maybe... i totally have eyes for her if I ever end up making her. And a dress that would work perfect on her. And an idea of who I’d commission to do the elaborate facial tattoos she’d have. But I keep saying she’s a plan I have for later.

V what’s the biggest lie any of your doll characters has ever told?

 

^ Kouriel told Mokuba, who thinks of him as a father, that he didn't love her and wanted nothing to do with her. This is something he deeply regrets, but also something he thought he had to do at the time in order to protect her from himself.

< Oh look, I'm back. Don't mind me I'll probably poof again.

v Does your doll have a favourite place to go?

 

^ Tyler's favourite place to go is his family's farm, which is where he grew up. More specifically, his favourite place at the farm is in the barn with the horses. Both Aubrey and Noé would rather be at home than anywhere else. Noé's favourite spot is his bedroom in the attic. Aubrey's favourite spot is also his own bedroom, which has a view of his back yard. Reid's favourite place to go is his paternal grandparents' house.

V What's the next thing (doll or doll-related item) that you want to purchase?

 

^ I want to get Ian a flannel, and maybe some new clothes in general. But he needs his lucky flannel, at least.

< Jeez, I had a rough night sleeping last night. I don't like being sick.

v Your doll comes down with a cold! Are they the type of person to try to muscle their way through it, or lay in bed and whine all day, or somewhere in between?

 

^ I imagine most would want to continue working and would be rather cute with the sniffles going on. One guy, in particular, Deimos, would lay in bed all day and whine about how the world hates him.

< Been on a cleaning rampage. Pretty soon I'll have actual shelving to place dolls on instead of having them sit all over the piano.

V If your doll was one to pay household bills, how would they prefer to do it? In person, mail in checks or purely online?

 

^ For Elliot and Ji-Han, online. For Ji-Han out of efficiency, and for Elliot out of being asocial. And Ollie would like in person so she could meet up with the person and chat.

v What animals is your doll afraid of?

 

^ Aubrey is afraid of spiders. He's not a fan of bugs, insects or creepy-crawly things in general, but spiders are the only ones he's actually afraid of. Scarlett is afraid of bees.

v If your doll/character won the lottery, what would they do with their winnings?

 

^ Firstly, Ian would pay off bills that need to be payed. Next he would upgrade his house and car. Nothing super expensive, but fixing everything that needs to be fixed. Then after that he'd get a new computer (his is entirely too old), upgrade some appliances, and such. He'd probably run out of ideas to do with the money before he runs out of money, since he's pretty satisfied with what he has, so the remainder of it he'd keep to pay bills and buy gifts for his friends and family, and if anything he particularly wants pops up.

< Ian is very boring in some aspects, but honestly, he does a lot like what I would do, except I have hobbies that cost me money. Ian's all set up for his hobbies.

v What does your doll's character like to do in their spare time? Like, what are their hobbies?

 

^Drew knits, makes various tea blends and tests them, studies various things involving the occult, and otherwise just relaxes while watching a movie or listening to something. Bob sets up weird stuff to mess with people (placing and arranging tiny plastic camels around where people be, taping a photo of a chicken nugget over the faces in family photos, etc.), people watching and making random comments about whoever he's watching, or he'll just try and gently antagonize the nearby park pigeons.

vWhat's something your doll hates about their job (or hobby if they're unemployed) and something they love about that same job (or hobby)?

 

^ John hates that he doesn't get paid to do his job.

V Does your doll(s) have hobbies? If they do, do you have props for them related to that hobby?

 

^ Yep! And of what I have, I love Jo's pointe shoes the most because they were the single luckiest find:


< speaking of which, missed my own training tonight. Still too tired from last week ... not cool. Then again, there's choir practise all morning tomorrow so that's nice.

v Any hobbies of yours that your doll(s) would share if they were human?

 

^ Yep, Ian and I would share writing as a hobby. He'd probably end up being a lot more motivated than me, though. Although, I could introduce him to text roleplaying, he'd probably like that a lot.

< I have no idea what I want in a camera I just want a decent point and shoot camera that's not from the 2000s? I have no idea what I'm looking for? Help?

^cosplaying , I am pretty sure that Clover would be up to cosplay with me if she were human. Though she would cosplay game characters while i gravitate towards anime.

^Bob freakin loves it. Suddenly you can see wares from anyware and you can just select it with a few clicks or taps on a tiny device. How cool is that?

vYour doll's character gets a nicely bound book where half of it is filled with note paper and the other half is filled with sketch paper. It's a slightly older book and when your doll opens it the pages make a gentle sound and of course it smells like an unused but older book. What do they do with it? If they write/draw, what do they write/draw?

 

^ Timmy immediately starts doodling, steampunk-y, old-timey stuff, pencil only. He'll probably end up drawing all over the note paper too, once all the sketch paper has been filled. At first it's pretty random stuff, then pre-existing characters start showing up (steampunkified - anything from steampunk Disney characters to Sherlock Holmes in a zeppelin), and at some point mini-stories happen - just two or three panel stuff, mini dialogues and things. And he'll try to make it look like it's always been in there, not like it's an older book with new sketches.

< Why am I forced to hide stuff that makes me happy in order to keep a job I never wanted? This can not be right. I don't want to let my students down, but this is so wrong on so freaking many levels. Need more options.

v What kind of arts do your dolls like?

 

^ Partly due to the circumstances of their story, my dolls would be partial to Oriental art by default (ink brush strokes and the like). Adhara would appreciate the value of art objects (be it paintings, sculptures, antiques, etc) more than Guórén, though. Let's face it, she's the head of a proto-yakuza after all, while he spent most of his formative years destitute.

< It's getting so crowded at home with a "surprise" baby that isn't even mine, it ain't funny. I wish I could have more silent time with my dolls.

v Would your dolls ever consider making a musical band? What instruments would they play? (Band name is a bonus!)

 

^ They actually already kinda have an unofficial band! They just like to play around with music. My vampire plays the drums, my ghost sings and my elf plays guitar. It's a rock band mostly, and there's no official name but I imagine they'd be called something like "voodoo doll".

v if they sold BJD's with implanted AI, one that could walk and talk and make decisions, would you buy it?

 

^ Hm... I'm really not sure. Probably not, since it'd likely be too expensive for me to get, but even if it was within my price range, I'm not the best at being responsible for other life forms, and that includes artificial life forms.

< @SeraphBJD I feel you there, food usually makes things feel better, at least comfort food does.

v What would your doll's taste in music be?

 

^ Most of them like classical stuff. Lauren has a soft spot for renaissance / late medieval music, Katie likes Irish Folk (especially fiddle tunes), and the band guys are into all things alternative / hard rock / goth / prog. For lots of them their preference in music changes with their moods.

< I am so freaking unhappy with myself / my performance in rehearsal. Not cool, self. Not cool.

v How much of a perfectionist is your doll('s character)?

 

^ Ji-Han is a HUGE perfectionist, especially concerning his appearance. The others, not so much. Ji-Han rarely gets upset (or shows strong emotion of any kind, really) but when he does it is usually concerning that.

v You have to put all your dolls into storage save one. Which one do you leave out?

 

^ Well, I only my have one BJD at this time >.<. So...I'll save Lilly! *waves heroic sword*

< I have already started looking at more dolls...they really weren't kidding when they said it's an addicting hobby!

v What aspect of the BJD hobby do you enjoy the most/least?

 

^I probably enjoy the most to create things for my BJDs! It's a lot of fun making clothes, wigs, etc... I'll try making eyes sometime soon as well!
But the least... Probably the high costs and the long waits you have most of the time... ^.^"

v What was the hardest to make thing you ever self-crafted for your dolls?

 

^ To date, the face up is really the only thing I have crafted for a practice head and it is so much harder than I thought it would be. I have redone it about 4 times now, and I learn something new everytime. Next up? Wigs - Yarn wigs, RIP my wrist.

< Is waiting for some clothes for Lilly so she doesnt have to be nekked or use Thrift Store doll dresses with a grocery clip on the back LOL

v Do your dolls have stories? Well thought out narratives or just general backgrounds?

 

^my longest doll backstory is 132k words, and isn’t even the whole story for those five. I like long stories.

< someone stop me. I’m shelling characters I cannot possibly afford...

V what’s your favourite company?

 

^ That's a hard one. I have no company loyalty so to speak of, with so many hybrids and companies in my collection. But if I could only get dolls from one company, it would be Legende de Temps. I like pretty much everything they put out and it is the only company I've been tempted to have multiple sculpts from.

v Would your doll rather be too hot or too cold?

 

^ Ian would prefer to be too cold, because that's an excuse to put on more layers. The boy loves him some layers.

v What's your doll's favorite holiday?

 

^ Christmas!

v Have you ever attempted under water BJD photography?

 

^ Nope, although it is an interesting concept. Then again trying to execute such a feat would require some fancy waterproof camera which i can't afford.

< Going into work day after a feast is not something I'm too excited for, i want to sleep off my food baby for the next 20 years.

v what type of holidays exist in your dolls world, if they differ to our own?

 

^ The elves, being close to nature, celebrate sun and moon holidays - solstices, equinoxes, and full / new moons respectively. The Hobbits celebrate the weirdest things, mostly to do with food. (Although, let's face it, they'd celebrate anything if it's an excuse for a feast or three ...)

< so friggin tired. Need to get my rear in gear for ballet class but all I want to do is sleeeeep. And make doll things.

v What doll project are you most proud of? (Anything counts.)

 

^ So far, I'm REALLY proud of Ian's tattoos, and seeing how they came out just makes me want to do more on him, especially knowing I can only improve in regards to how they come out.

< I miss Ian. I forgot to grab him for this Philly trip.

v Do you ever take your dolls on vacation with you? And if you ever not bring them, do you miss them?

 

^ I think I've taken at least one with me for every trip I've taken since I started collecting. I don't always do anything with whoever it is I've brought, but sometimes it's just nice knowing I have one with me. (There may have been one trip where I didn't take the only one I had at the time, but we were so busy I didn't have time to miss having him along. xD)

< I should be writing. I am so far behind, why am I not writing?

v What is your doll (character)'s favourite element? (Earth, fire, etc.)

 

^ Elliot's would be water, Ollie's would be fire, and Ji-Han's and Gobbie's would be earth.

v What would your doll put off the necessities for (eating, sleeping, bathing, etc)?

 

^ Any type of animal snuggles on the face of the planet. As well as - cupcakes. Nothing else matters!!

v Would your doll prefer RAIN or SNOW?

 

^ Ian prefers rain, partly because he likes the sound of it, and partly because he HATES navigating in snowy weather.

< I am slightly obsessed with Pokemon again now that I've got Ultra Sun. Time to binge the game!

v What piece of media (video game, movie series, show, book) would your doll try to speed through because they like it so much?

 

^ Avery's is probably "Numb" By Linkin Park, he's a trash emo/goth child and I love him.

< This is slightly more fun than anticipated.

v What's your dream doll, one that you really want but can't find or can't afford just yet?

 

^ Luckily I have been able to get my hands on all the dolls I really really wanted (except for one, but a better shell for the OC in question came along so it's not a big deal). I wish I could find a sculpt for one OC though, but he keeps rejecting everything I throw at him. He's the last one missing from my main story crew and I need that guy shelled.

< Someone from the youth orchestras I played in 20 years ago randomly popped up at my work today. o.O World, u crazy.

v Almost same question - do you have a dream doll (that you can't find / afford)?

 

^ The Female Nuevo body. Between the price raise, custom color, and shipping... Yeah, saving is taking a while.

v What is your doll's preferred means of travel?

 

^ Ian usually drives himself. He's okay with being a passenger for someone he trusts, though.

< I can't stop listening to the Ballad of Sara Berry and thinking of it with some of my OCs.

v Are there any preexisting stories you can see any of your dolls replacing the characters of? Bonus if they're musicals or songs or such.
