^ No. I thins this hobby more than just "mother-daughter" playing. But boys are shy to play dolls. That's why I love to be an adult - no one can say you is you hobby boyish or girly (I am not a boy btw)

v Did you close all your doll-related-checklist this year? Do you have such list on the next year?

 

^ No. I try and then it becomes obsolete pretty much as soon as I type it out. My everything changes with the wind. Wish list, to-do list, list list...you name it, I have to update it daily. There is no point. Although I already wrote out my 2017 one. And it's already changed.

V What is your BJD check list look like for next year?

 

^ 1) Pay off my credit for my November/December purchases
2) commission faceup and clothes for Saintbloom Charlotte, DC Elizabeth, and just a faceup for my first floating head Flowne
3) Buy a DZ body for Flowne
4) if I can afford it it, order a Ninodoll Bada head and DZ body

< I need to get a better job so I have more spending money... ;_;

v Passing this down, do you have a checklist for next year? What's on it?

 

^
Either get Sven a body, or get his head traded for / replaced with a normal skin version (depending on whether or not AprilStory EVER ships my Adrian).
Replace the last artificial fiber wigs with natural ones (read: put in that Newmoor Barn order already).
Make more stuff for the dolls I got this year. They don't have enough of anything.
Get the heck started on photostories, provided Mike accepts Vipo07 as a shell.

^ I really need to commission some dresses for Jes; I just don't have anything that suits her actual aesthetic. But a major hours cut at work means that is on the back burner in a serious way.

^ sadly no it might be a while before I get either of my grails.

^ No couples here. Everyone's a solo flyer.

v What was the last doll release that got you really excited?

 

^ Not right now. Well, Vipo07 had me flailing and squeeing, but since I've got him on order, I don't think he counts at this point. The DiM discontinuation had me rearrange my doll plans ... but as for actual excitement, that's probably only getting triggered by shipping notices.

< Freshly cleaned sewing machine is purring nicely again, not rattling like an old steam train. Time to make all the doll clothes!

v Anything doll-related on your xmas / winter holiday of your choice wishlist?

 

^ I am anxiously awaiting my Dollshe Arsene hoping he makes it to me before Christmas since it doesn't look like he'll arrive before Thanksgiving. I also have the Granado V-07 ordered and hope to get him around the end of the year. Fingers crossed.

v More holiday cheer, are you hoping for a holiday BJD or accessories?

 

^ Nah... I'll make the Holiday gift to me by muself: I will order some stuff I need for my boys
I also awaiting of Dollshe shipping notice (show me who don't ) but it would be real miracle to get the shipping on Christmas

< That moment you've miss the bjd-parcel on weekend. I could get it yesterday, but I've miss it!

v Any special doll projects on holidays? X-Mas or New Year photostory or any action?

 

^ My dolls essentially live wherever they please, haha. But we definitely decorate the house! No pics for now, since it's still November and I haven't hauled out the holiday box yet, but trust me, things get cute.

< Coffee dyed a piece of fabric for the first time today, and it turned out pretty good! Can't wait to make Kara a chic pair of winter pants.

v On a related note, do you dress up your dolls themselves for the holidays? Show, show!

 

^ I dressed my boys for Halloween in little bat shirts, but I don't really have an pictures of them in their bats. I haven;t gotten any Christmas clothes for them and I don't think I will(I need to get regular clothes for two of my boys who are just hanging out in boxers right now xp)

< I really need to hurry up and make my dragon boy some pants xp

v What was the last doll you bought?

 

^ Jes, my Afghan. It's been a while since I got her. I don't do doll purchases very often.

< I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking tired.

v Favorite resin skintone?

 

^ Normal. Easier to hybrid. I love the look of tan, but it's so much bother unless head, body, and colour are perfect.

< Still no sign of my dolls, tracking hasn't updated in nearly a week, but have to start work an hour early. Just great.

v What do you do when a doll delivery takes ages?

 

^ Stalking for a new doll or stuff purchase.

< My perfect hybride is finished, yay!

v Do you have the limit of quantity in your collection? Or will you buy new dolls and won't care how much dolls you already have?

 

^ I do have a limit, actually -- ten. Cold hard arbitrary limit, and believe it or not, in the decade I've been in this hobby (holy shit), I've never once broken it. I own seven at the moment, there's one on my wishlist, so that leaves two wild-card slots if something comes up that I simply MUST own. But never will it go over ten. Sometimes it feels very odd to not be squealing over all the new releases but I figure it's easier on my wallet.

< I may or may not have set my computer wallpaper to that amazing still of Victor and Yuuri looking oh-so-much-in-love. I am pathetic beyond all reason.

v What is your inspiration for purchasing any given doll? Is it character driven? Mold driven? Something else?

 

^ I'll soon find out! My in-transit Lestia doesn't have a set character. I guess I'll try wigs and eyes until something sticks, see what clothes fit her (or what I feel like making for her, or even which body she'll go on), and find out who it is I'm dealing with.

< eep. That moment when you're actively sealing the deal on a new job because co-workers stink, and a fifth-grader randomly tells you you're her favorite teacher. Dem feelz, man.

v Based on last q: Do you usually have characters waiting for your dolls, or do you go by sculpt and watch what happens?

 

^ Character is first. Even the ones who I say don't have a character have a glimmer of one, which is usually 99.9% of the reason I'm attracted to the sculpt to begin with.

V If you don't do character first, what attracts you to the dolls you buy?

 

^ The spark that lights up in my brain when I see a sculpt, usually blank but there are times when the faceup it what grabs my attention. Somewhere in my brain lurks a character that is longing to come out.

< Coffee, more coffee, do I make another pot?

v Do you like long legs or long torsos?

 

^ something proportioned or I guess if I had to choose long legs seem good?

< @Tez yes yes constant flailing and squealing is an accurate description of my self since ep. 7. All the teasers have lead up to this and it is as beautiful as victors skating.

v since its something on my mind here is a related question: any characters that do ice/snow sports?

 

^ So far - no. But I think you just gave me an idea for my characterless DiM Larina I could totally make her a figure skater.

< This choir is seriously cool. I hope they let me stay ... if I even stay here. Wonder what it's like to have a regular old quiet consistent life?

v Is your doll more of an adventurer or a homebody?

 

^ I don't have any BJD characters that do ice/snow sports... but I have a feeling with Yuri On Ice airing this season, there will be an increase in BJDs that do.

< I hope I can get my animation final done in time... I'm spending Thanksgiving "break" working on finals, hahah....

v Of any BJDs you may own, has their character/aesthetic changed so drastically from how they started that it has surprised you in any way?

 

^ Yes! My original plan for Bambi was to give him an unhappy look and to make him kind of a bad boy. But then I started making his face up, and now he's a kind-looking tender young man. Oopsie!

< Hopefully I'll be able to buy my second doll soon!

v Your dolls' characters' favourite type of music?

 

^Bevyn- Rock and metal, Seiger- neoclassical rock, Jehan- Celtic music, Nakago- Any kind of rock or classical

vDo you ever just doodle pictures of your dolls?

 

^ Nah. I can't draw for shit, so no doodles here.

v What is your absolute favorite doll-related activity?

 

^ Taking photos. And sharing them.

< And also I love doll maintenance... Probably I just love everything about dolls

v Any doll fetishes? Hands, noses, eyes, clothing, wigs? Anything

 

^ I do like hands, but I am really more of a whole package person. My favorite dolls are my favorites because of the whole thing, not any one feature...everything comes together and makes them perfect.

V sort of same: do you have a doll who just has one feature you're obsessed with?

 

^ I'm kind of in love with Jes' eyes. So expressive. Now I just need the right pair of Mystics to plunk in 'em.

v It's Black Friday! Does your doll brave the crowds to get the deals, or say fuck it and stay the hell away from anything resembling a mall?

 

^ you will not find me anywhere near a store for the next 3 days. I do not like crowds. Nooo thank you

v is there a doll you're currently saving up for or have on layaway?

 

^ Unicorns or phoenixes might end up on the shortlist. In Hogwarts terms, we already have a bunch of toads and a frog, and a cat has been requested multiple times (but is outside the budget for the time being because it would have to be the biggest Oriental from EveTheCat).

< My dolls finally moved, woohoo! I guess it'll be another half a week until I actually get them though ... even if they send out the letter tomorrow, I won't be able to drive out and ransom them before Tuesday.

v Since I'm watching ballet vids and going to a historical / Country Dance ball on Saturday: Any dancers among your dolls?

 

^ Jes is an accomplished dancer. It helps out with her other profession.

< Okay, if I am coughing up a lung all tomorrow I am not going to be a happy retail camper. Hacking and coughing all through Black Friday? How about NO. I already have to wear a bad sweater, let's not add insult to injury.

v Do any of your dolls share clothes or do they all have their own unique look?

 

^ They share some basics, but I do try to let each of them have their personal style / colour scheme. For some reason that's way harder with the gents than with the girls ...

< I so freaking wish I could get that ransom note today ... but the office would be closed by the time I got there. No new dolls this weekend.

v What type of accessory do your dolls have most of? (Clothes, wigs, shoes, jewelry, even eyes ... anything goes.)

 

^ They have most of everything! I've lost count!

< I am having a break. A loooonnng break. With sewing in the middle.

V BlackFriday day! What are your dolls clamouring for?

 

^ The same thing I was clamoring for and didn't get -- to stay home. Working retail on Black Friday is a special kind of torture.

< Welp. I am officially 39 years old now. One more year to official over-the-hill status. Someone scrape me off the ground please.

v Do your dolls have 'birthdays'?

 

^ Of sorts. It's either their arrival day or their release day / the day they were ordered. I do confess that I lost track of most at some point. Bad, bad dolly owner.

< Customs has risen to new heights of absurdity. Came home to find a note that I need to pick something up at the local post office (but not before tomorrow) - not my parcel, no sir, but the ransom letter. So now they expect us to drive out to get the freaking ransom letter, then do an 180° and drive back half an hour in the opposite direction to the actual customs office to pay the ransom. What the flying eff?! This is it, only buying through dealers from now on.

v What's your most absurd doll-related story? Share the laughs!

 

^ not sure if this counts but John (Ringdoll K) was a doll that I had bought to match a series of doodles in my sketchbooks. His hair was cut in a fade or undercut (depending on how I was drawing), and lo here comes Ringdoll with this doll who looks just like with the hair and everything. I could only afford his head at the time, which did not come with the fabulous hairs, so I had to try it myself. I have the ability to style John's hair in the fade style (brushed back)....but it does not want to stay. Eventually I got used to it sticking up in every direction at once and now I draw him that way. So he's stuck like that. He's kind of disheveled mentally and emotionally anyway, so it works.

> I have about 5 dolls that need faceups, plus two of a friends. Somewhere I have to find time to do this...

V What is on your current doll to-do list?

 

^ Three faceups, three wigs, three or four sets of clothes for my freshly arrived DiMlings. Got their eyes done today, but trying to get three dolls done at once (one of them first of her size, so nothing in the stash for her) is not something I want to do again in a hurry.

< To new job or not to new job?

v How many dolls do you currently own?

 

^I have 45 characters (heads), but way fewer bodies because they are alter-egos or demon side personalities. I just sold a MSD head and two full dolls, preparing for the two new SD that are coming in.

v What is your head to body ratio? In a non mathematical manner - yah.

 

^ 1:1. There are no floating heads nor are there headless bodies at this house. At least...at the moment.

< OH GOD EPISODE NINE MY HEART

v What doll is nearest you right this second? Where do they happen to be?

 

^ I suppose that'd be Bijan (Iplehouse Akando), because he sits on the end of the nearest shelf-- albeit in the next room. He's just hanging out in his dorm behind the curtain, sitting next to an incubus and the world's worst magician. He's not sure about that incubus, but at least he's got a corner seat.

< Did I already mention that my sciatic nerve can go #$)%^%!! itself? Oh how I wish I could be restrung and sueded. I am as structurally unsound as a cheap recast.

v Is your doll character a family person, or a lone operator? If they have family, what percentage of them do you have in doll form?

 

^I originally wanted two of my witch girls to be enemies would make for a good "fiery rivals" dynamic, but I think I want them being secret loves instead.

< Why did I order the thing. I mean I'm excited but I have this rush of REALLY THO??

vHave you ever been extremely torn on a doll you thought you wanted? If you ended up getting it, how did it work out?

 

^ I thought I wanted a body for one of my boys and ordered it then decided to cancel it due to a very long wait period so I tried to cancel it but immediately got a shipping notice. I didn't really need the money back I just didn't want to wait, so I am happy.
< Cloudy rainy morning trying to teach a cat to use a door flap. Seems to think it's only a one way door to the outside, sigh.

v Do you have a character who loves the rain or stormy weather?

 

^ All of my Vampires love stormy weather! They can go out in the daytime that way!

> It's the end of an era: after 8 years works firewall finally blocked me from DOA XD No more interneting all day long!!

V If\when you go to a doll meet, which dolls would\do you bring with you?

 

^ I am bringing Meg if she is back in time after she gets her new face and hopefully she'll have some clothes to wear or she'll end up having to wear the clothes she has lol.

< So many eye companies and I have no idea which ones are the best O_o

V How do you travel with your dolls?

 

^ Depends on how many I'm taking. Last time I flew with one (well, two), I packed 'em in a rolling carryon and went that way, but that's a raging pain if you've got a turboprop leg on your flight and I always do (this is what happens when you only go one place, ever). So next time, if I bring one, it'll be in a carrier bag.

< This show has killed me. I am dead. I am rewatching it AGAIN.

v Got any repeats of molds in your collection or is everyone unique?

 

^ I actually impulse bought some YRU shoes that were on EXTRA Sale for before black friday (which is a holiday I have not yet taken active part in).
As of now I can't afford nor do I have the wiggle room at all to force any impulse buy for dolls. After moving out to San Jose, I'm making more money but it aallll goes to rent...Which is a shame, because I always want to jump on those Christmas and New Year limiteds! So far, being a starving artist has kept me from major doll impulse buys

< Aaah, I have extra time to sleep this morning and yet I'm lurking DoA!! But I know I won't be able to get up in time for work if I don't go to sleep =_=

v Have you ever felt buyers remorse soon after buying a doll? Were they impulse purchases?

 

^not immediately after a purchase...it took a bit of time...I am maybe regretting my doll that is currently Destiny. I donno -_-

<I am extremely grateful to have a job but I have not had a day off since last month? And I've been sick since black Friday plus in the middle of moving...at this rate my body is going to give up on me.

v when your doll characters are sick do they tend to call out sick from work/school? Or are they stubborn like me and keep pushing them self until they pass out?

 

^My doll is fairly young so she'd be a whiny baby if she was sick, lol. When she isn't complaining about how awful she feels she'd be asleep.
< i really should have worked on my projects today instead of waiting til tomorrow.....but at least i still have time. Plus the rain was relaxing ^^
v if you could wear one outfit of your dolls, what would it be?

 

^ I would actually wear the shorts I am planning on getting her commissioned. They are bloody awesome! If you mean clothes she owns, I would want to wear her Mike Wazowski shirt.

v What is your biggest fear when it comes to your dolls?

 

^ Breaking / messing up something that can't be fixed (or replaced), I guess. Damaging in some irreversible way.

v What's on your doll projects list?

 

^ Saving up the money for Tooru. However long that takes.

< I really should cut back on the coffee but I guess we all have to have our addictions.
