^ I drove 7 hours to get to DollAkon in Dallas. It was a long trip but worth it I took my Ringdolls to meet their sculptor, Huang Shan.
< I'm glad for the cool front but the fan blowing on me is just too cold.
v Have been able to take photos of your doll in a diorama setting? Bonus for pix, if you have.

 

^ Yes - I have half of my doll shelf space set up as a permanent two-room diorama, but I don't take anywhere near enough pics of them there. These days I mostly snap pics of WIP clothes or projects, and for that I usually put the dolls in the (unsightly, yet white-back-walled) neutral / storage part of the shelf. I need to add a neutral but nicer background ... doll-scale kitchen tiles or something.

< Whew! Not enough progress on the me-sized project. But awesome serger is still awesome.

v If money / space didn't matter, which doll(s) would you be bringing home right this second?

 

^ Many, MANY Fairyland dolls. LittleFee Rendia, MiniFee Rin, the new MiniFee Centaur line!! Doll Chateau Alberta as well, and definitely a Popovy Sisters doll. Too many to choose. ;_;

< I should really be asleep right now. I have college tomorrow after a two-week break and instead I'm researching what shoes fit LittleFee. Life goes on, I suppose.

v If your doll(s) came to life while you were out, what do you think it would do in your house alone? Bonus points if you imagine them still being the size they are instead of human-sized.

 

^ Oh my gosh. They'd tear the place apart. The doll shelf is in the bedroom, and it's at a height that would enable them to climb over onto the door handle to get out ... if my cats are home, things might get ugly (they're being kept apart for a reason). Then again, I do have some elves and some weapons, so either they'd beat the cats back if they tried to attack, or they'd tame them. I can so imagine coming home from work to see Cali and Ana riding my kitties into battle round and round the living room table
The boy cat can open doors (he doesn't usually bother these days so the kitchen door is unlocked) - if the elves manage to talk to them, they could easily get him to open the kitchen for them. I bet they'd find the candy in a heartbeat ... so I guess I'd come home to a party of dolls and cats, munching their way through my candy, some playing on the computer while the others watch from the sofa. I wouldn't even put it past them to order the last couple of their friends that aren't home yet.

< @cinnabaras I feel ya, there's work tomorrow and I'm completely unprepared. I forgot what I did last with my Monday classes, before the holidays. Oopsie.

v Passing on because that's one awesome question! If your doll(s) came to life while you were out, what do you think it would do in your house alone? Bonus points if you imagine them still being the size they are instead of human-sized.

 

^ Makes me lol just thinking about it! The idea of everyone running around, from my tiniest tinies to my huge 70+s is just so funny...and oh, so ditto to your response! I think they'd spend a lot of time terrorizing - and probably riding - the cat and dogs...waving around the useless, teeny swords and pistols that I've bought for them, and spending an endless amount of time in front of the mirror, snickering and trying on the mountains of wigs, eyes and outfits that I've accumulated over the years. The guys would also probably devote a *great* deal of time to hitting on my one and only adult female, poor things...because she's a sweet, innocent fox/witch with no thoughts of romance, and would probably just smile and wander off on her clueless way.

< It's 6:30 PM, the weekend is almost over, and tomorrow is *dundundun* Monday. Get over it.

^ I...think that would bad. There may be a small war. Less Toy Story and more Small Soldiers D:

V Have you ever missed out on a doll you were planning to buy? What happened?

 

^ Yes, ug. I was going to order Foveo Vincent during the last preorder in February, but I second guessed myself because I wasn't 100% sure he was right for the character I wanted him to be. So I didn't order him, and then after seeing more pictures and stuff I decided he actually was right, so now I'm gonna have to wait till some from this recent preorder get up on the MP. Hopefully.

< Geez... I'm ready for the allergies to go away now thanks...

v Which of your dolls is your favorite to take pictures of and why?

 

^ Probably my Miyu I love her sculpt so much. And also my other dolls are kinda missing parts atm...

v If you could get a doll that looked exactly like you, would you get it?

 

^ a wig like my awesome new red hair? Absolutely. A doll with my body and face would be completely not my style (plus, the raging insecurity would be... well, raging.) I have once found a doll body that looks like mine though.

V Would Any of your dolls get involved in a fandom?

 

^ Yes, most definitely! I'm currently waiting for the most of my crew to arrive, but anyway - all those characters ADORE TV series. They'd totally go crazy about their favorite episodes and might even get a tumblr blog or something. Two of them might even start a tumblr drama about their headcanons being better then everyone else's >D

< Goddamit, Dollshe sculpts are stunning. I'm starting to get why people go for it even considering their wait times.

v If your dolls could talk, would they always listen to your opinions and agree, or argue with you all the time?

 

^ Argue all the time. And try to sneak out. And make a fuss. And...

^ Actually ... I just impulse bought a head off the MP (like, 5 minutes ago ... well, I had been watching him for a week, but to get him now was far from a rational choice. I just felt the need to reward myself for standing my ground in a really bad situation). I've also still got a layaway going on, so mass incoming yet again.

v Same question, are you waiting for anything? If not, what was your last arrival?

 

^ generally wig and eyes because I can't stand when a doll is missing those. Which one is THE most important depends on the character. For exemple I've been putting off buying a certain doll for two years now because I can't find hair for her and it's her main attribute. I can get any cheapo eyes (temporarily) and any of the clothes I already have, but if I get her without the right hair I know I'm gonna disappointed.

v do your dolls share clothes or do they each have outfits/style specific to them?

 

^I have a few dolls that are 'this is mine leave it alone', like Thaddeus (though I'm not sure who would want to wear his stuff) but many of them share clothing that is the same size.

< Pub is stocked, shapeshifter's heads are shipped now if Equinox's body would get here I could start the photostories.

v Do you have a prima donna where it comes to clothing?

 

^ Not really, if I'm honest. (At least, not yet.) Aelic will wear anything cute, and Ilya will wear literally anything, and neither of them mind sharing (though they can't share pants because of DZ's massive hips on their MSDs). Toshi has really specific traditional clothes, so no one would really share his anyway. (I feel like some of my other boys would definitely care, but...they'd have to deal. )

< Guess who's tired of having swollen sinuses? That's right, it's me!

v What doll are you planning to get next? Do you already have or are you planning a character for them?

 

^ My first priority is getting a Loongsoul B-G42-03 body for my incoming F&J Mizi.W head (Nyll). I had a rough outline of a character that I think she'll fit, and once she is here I'll start working out the finicky details.

< I just really, really want all the snow and ice to melt so I can whip out my spring shoes and not slip and break an ankle T_T

v Do you have any ridiculously specific items you need for your dolls, that you just cannot find 'just right' anywhere? (and if yes, what is it?)

 

^ Yes. I searched high and low for a ginger wig that could reach a 65 cm doll's ankles. And I wanted a short white wig with lots of little curls. So now I am trying to make them. But I took a really labor intensive route so it is going to take a while.

v How big is your collection and what is in it?

 

^ 40+ dolls, 22+ companies, just a couple floating heads and one floating body. It's mostly minis, then tinies, then the miscellaneous ones (in-betweens, pets, and my two SDs). I've got new-and-popular, old-and-rescued, standards, limiteds, gender-swaps, event heads, hybrids, and even a big 3D printed beast of a dragon. I really like having a varied collection!

v Are there companies you don't have in your collection that you like? Do you plan to add one of their sculpts, or keep admiring from afar?

 

^ Hmm.. It wouldn't be as a part of my story crew, but I'd sell my soul for one of Enaibi's dolls. Unfortunately, even if I should have the chance to buy one, I probably wouldn't, because I am trying to prioritize my story crew (haha, that is to say, I'd sell my soul, but not my money for it :P)

< It was bedtime almost 6 hours ago now, and I am suppose to be up in 2 hours... whoopidoop, guess I'm not sleeping tonight. damn you youtube, and all your "quality" content.

v If you could have one perfect fan character doll (your perfect vision sculpt, clothes, the whole shebang), who would you pick? (for example: TV show character fandoll, book character fandoll, etc)

 

^ Oh boy, this is hard... Probably Ushijima Wakatoshi from Haikyuu. I plan to have him anyway, but I still haven't chosen a sculpt yet, so...it'd be nice to have one drop in my lap. (I'd also like to have Bokuto Koutarou from Haikyuu [my fave character ever] or Samon Gokuu from Nanbaka.)

< Aaaand Aloyscius' head is finally clean! Or as clean as it's gonna get... Now I just need to find someone to mod his eyes. (Why does no one do additive mods?)

v What is/are your doll/character's biggest pet peeves?

 

^ clover biggest pet peeve is being disturbed when she is concentrating on something.

v are your doll characters the type that set up roots and stay put(white picket fence and 2.3 children analogy) or are they more like the nomads and gypsy's who are always on the go, moving around, wherever the wind hurls them?

 

^ A little from Column A, a little from Column B. Most of the OCs tend to be the "put down roots" type, but a lot of that is their culture. (Most are from a dying race with only one thing that could be considered a "population center" left, so they don't really have anywhere they could wander off to. XD) Liora does have a bit of wanderlust about her, but she's the curious type who's trying to find proof of what she believes about the past, so that lends itself to a lot of travels. And Ferre (and her yet-unpurchased parents) are seafarers, so very much the wandering type! On the character side, Winry definitely wants the whole cliche package. Al could take it or leave it, Nico and Razzy would like the stability but don't want to be tied down too much, and Ed and Jace just want to go to all the places and see all the things together.

v I like the question so I'm going to pass it down: Are your dolls wandering nomads, or white picket fencers?

 

^ This is a fabulous question! Mine are somewhere in between, since their story is set during a post-war reconstruction and they have more on their minds than settling down. Some of them wouldn't be averse to it, but they're far too busy with their work for now.

< It's nearly noon and I only have one thing done off my list for the day. Why do I let this happen?

\ (I'm on mobile, pretend that's a down arrow!) What are your OCs' favorite foods, most hated foods, and can they cook?

 

^ Icy doesn't really like to cook herself (partially because she can't cope with it very well since she's bound to a wheelchair and can't stand up to reach all the stuff), but she enjoys being in the kitchen with others and help with little things here and there. She enjoys social aspect most of all, even though with some help she's perfectly able to prepare a meal if needed. Other crew members are more than happy to do that for her, though.
Her favourite is strawberry-and-cream dessert, while most hated... well. She is a former military, she can eat ANYTHING remotely edible without complaints.

< I'm wondering if Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will turn out interesting... I really liked the first one. Rocket Raccoon, yay!

v Did you ever have a male doll/OC that wore female clothes? If not, would you find it interesting or odd if you saw one?

 

^ last year I briefly had a male doll I couldn't be bothered to buy clothes for, so he wore skirts since that's all I had that fit him. I am not bothered by these kinds of things at all.

< don't you hate it when you're hungry but no food seems good?

v what is your doll's favourite snack?

 

^ Flannerie enjoys most sweet foods, but a particular favorite would be honey pears... alternatively sweet cinnamon buns.

< Totally.. on a slightly related note, my mum used to accuse me of breaking the hinges of the kitchen cupboards by opening them up and closing them every 5 minutes in hopes of there magically being something tasty in there this time.

v Is there any TV programs your dolls like watching?

 

^ A certain group would go to Mangas and graphic novels, another group would go to horror and supernatural fiction. While a small group would bypass the books and go straight for the caffiene shop via the toys.

< So flippin tired, three day trips in a row make me dead.

v So the Pub is almost ready for opening; who of your dolls/characters would go?

 

^ All of them would go have a few drinks, I think, though Elliot drinks heavily when upset. Not the best habit.

v What dolly project are you putting off?

 

^ Hmm... I guess mostly Ilya's outfit. I'm not really putting it off on purpose, I'm just really busy with life. And also, it's not really a project, but I have a couple bodies I really need to get, but keep spending money on other things (like cute clothes for Aelic).

< Man...I reeaaaaally wanna get Niku... AkagiDoll You Yue is just so gorgeous and perfect for Niku...

v Do you tend to buy from only one or two companies? Or do you have dolls from a whole bunch of different places?

 

^ ALL THE COMPANIES! Or, well, 22 or so at this point, but I love looking at different companies, and I have one picked out to order from yet another company I don't have represented in my collection yet. I do have a bit of a CP/FairyLand problem, but there's plenty of other companies sharing space with them.

v Is your doll a dog person, a cat person, or both?

 

^ Neither; it's not much of a pet household here. Ilya has a pet snake named Nastassja. Spike & Jimmy have a pet tentacle monster in a bottle named Siegfried. Yuki has two pet musclemen named Istvan & Jinwoo. That's about it.
Bijan likes animals, especially horses, but our downtown one-bedroom apartment isn't zoned for horses.

< Not my day! I broke one of my favorite earrings and lost my favorite scrunchie. I'm going to bed at 7 and hoping tomorrow will just be better.

v Is your doll character a good cook? Or more of a "let's order takeout" type? Or more of a "do NOT try to tell me that a whole bag of popcorn isn't a meal" type?

 

^ Oh man, I love this question. Ilya is a "whatdyou mean two raw fish and half a quart of ice cream isn't a meal" kind of person (he's a selkie, so no fish-borne illnesses). Aelic is the mystery... He seems like the type that would be a good cook, but he's honestly worst than Ilya; he'll eat anything and make it look good. And he has lots of strange cravings that he makes poor Nimbus bring him (and sometimes eat with him). (Nimbus doesn't mind 'cause he loves his boyfriend too much and Aelic is adorable when he's happy.)

< Speaking of... I'm definitely making popcorn tonight.

v Your doll/character is dropped in the middle of a foreign country! Do they immediately try to find the way to the nearest airport to go home, or do they make an adventure of the situation?

 

^ Icy would immediately try to return back home and take it VERY seriously, almost like a mission. She hates disorder, sudden changes make her somewhat anxious. She probably wouldn't mind to come back to this county later for a well-organised and thoroughly planned adventure trip. Only if it includes plans A, B and C for emergency case of course.

< Getting up at five a.m. is tough. Chaos gods help me.

v Your OC gets ill or injured. Would they seek comfort or hide that from others?

 

^ Gwenevere suffers from tunnel vision and bullheadedness, and her own well being is secondary to finishing whatever invention she is working on, so she would likely ignore the symptoms figuring they'd go away by themselves, or she'd be so engulfed in her work she wouldn't notice them at all! Eventually she'd knock herself out cold by her working station, be found by another Fae and be brought to a healer. I mean, we're talking about the girl who once forgot to eat for a whole week because she couldn't solve a particular programming problem with her golem, so yeah.. TLDR: not quite hiding her sickness, as much as ignoring she is sick in the first place.

< Of course... of course I get the pick-up message for my package AN HOUR AFTER I LEFT TOWN!! I was just outside the post office an hour ago, you couldn't send my pick-up message then? Nooo, you had to wait until I was home.. T_T

^ Aelic would just insist he was fine until Nimbus chucked him into bed and forcefully made him his favorite food. Ilya complains so much when he's sick (but in his defense when he gets sick he gets really sick because his body isn't used to human diseases). Toshi would like to cover it up, but Eiichi notices immediately and doesn't let him.

< Dear part of my brain that keeps churning out these characters... Please stop. I don't need five baby deer boys to be Aloyscius' adopted sons. (I totally do need them...)

v Do your dolls/characters like kids?

 

^ Hiro has a pair of fraternal twins, Kiku and Toshi, who are the center of his universe...and his closest friend, Jack, is their godfather - and a completely goofy kid at heart himself, so playing with them is one of his greatest joys in life.

< Picked up my Soom ID75 Garion at the post office today, but not enough time to devote to a proper box opening yet! The last couple of hours are worse than the first three months of waiting.

What category does your doll fit into when it comes to spiders? A bad case of arachnophobia which makes them nearly catatonic on sight...a hater who squashes the little crawlers underfoot the second they appear...a kind-hearted admirer who scoops them gently into a cup and puts them outside where they can thrive...something else altogether? (Any back story on this??)

 

^Meng He squashes spiders on sight without any mercy. He's a neat freak and can't stand any sign of dirt or disrepair in his surroundings. Qinzhe hates them but refuses to touch them, so he makes someone else do it for him. Doesn't want to get his clothes dirty!

<Being between jobs suuuuuuucks...I'm making an ever-expanding list of BJD things I want, but I don't have the funds for them....

v Does your doll/character like puzzles? If so, what kind?

 

^ Alisaie is moderately interested in puzzles. If she has nothing better to do and there is a wooden puzzle within hands reach, she may sit down and fiddle with it for a while.

< Rearranged my computer/doll desk and changed my dolls clothes, and everyone looks so cute now~ soo nice and tidy

v Are your dolls tidy or messy? to what degree?

 

^ Icy is painfully tidy, army does that sort of thing to some people. At some stage of her life she had to deal with severe OCD, that subdued notably when she started recovering from her head injury. She still loves strict order though, every little trinket has to be on its place, house has to be ridiculously tidy, and god help the person who accidentally destroys this perfect sanctuary of tidiness - lady can get pretty angry. Family members are allowed to break that rule sometimes. Not that it's possible to do anything about them >D

^ SO it took me ten minutes to come up with a non-nsfw message. It's Rina texting Balik the first night she goes to try to help people again. Balik feels sick, worried she's not enough anymore when she checks the phone Cacophony got her. It says just simply, "I used to serve a celestus who was a goddess in her own right. Now I lie beside one every night. I believe in you, Balik." And she'd blush entire galaxies across her cheeks as she read it.

^ Just before Lauren and Sven started dating, he "confessed" to her that he was a bit of a geek. She replied with "that's really cute, actually", making him blush.

< That moment when you know first aid, scene of accident is secured, everything is done (and done right) ... and you still feel bloody helpless. Poo.

v Name one thing your doll character can't stand.

 

^ Telly hates water. Typical, she's a kitty anthro. But her fur wig is always a little grubby.

< Of course it can't merely rain, it needs to storm for three days and flood. Hello summer, you are wet!

v Do you play favorites with your dolls or try to be equal?

 

^ Oh, there's definite favorites in my collection. The major characters of each of the storylines I have tend to be the ones I favor when sewing/buying clothing or going out for photoshoots, and tend to be the more "finished" parts of my collection.

v What motivates you to work on a doll?

 

^ A "vision" of sorts. Inspiration of any kind, be it a new idea for a story chapter, a new arrival, an idea for clothes ... sometimes (if it's clothes) a fabric find. But I need a clear idea in my head of how I want it to turn out, or I can't stay focused ... plus, I'll invariably mess it up beyond repair if I force myself to work on stuff I'm not quite inspired for at any one time.

< me-sized (larp) project going well! Bad guy (girl in this case) coming along nicely, the latest mask came out great and the clothes are half done, just the vest missing now. The players won't know what hit them.

v toeing the line of on-topic-ness (hopefully) - do you have any other "freaky" hobbies besides dolls?

 

^ I do perler bead crafts. I find the rooting for specific beads relaxing.It's normally a "girls" craft, but I'm a boy.

v What kind of universe are your dolls living in? Mine are Hogwarts students (mostly).

 

^ My dolls are dolls. So they live in the real world, I guess. But a world where dolls are kinda sorta living things. And eventually one of them gets an inkling of what lies behind the fourth wall, but that is a story for later.

^ A fantasy universe where there exist parallel worlds, kinda ni no kuni style (two worlds, every person born has a soulmate/twin in the other world, but they exist separately, have separate lives, may not even be the same age, etc. A person can travel between the worlds if they know the magic for it.)

< I want this gallbladder removed now, it is nothing but pain and I am sick of it. :/

v Oh no, one of your dolls just got shot! what happens next? (would they call the ambulance, how would your other dolls react? etc)

 

^ if mikami got shot, he would try to drive himself to the a clinic (his doctor, not a public one) or call his assistant for help. generally if he got shot, hes doing pretty shady stuff

< trying not to be lazy today and have to wash one of my dolls body and maybe restring him.

v what is your dolls biggest weakness (ie: a partner, food, being too cautious etc )

 

^ Carlos is terribly self-conscious about the fact he's missing half a leg and wears a prosthesis. He'll go out of his way to hide his disability, to the point where he got himself addicted to prescription painkillers trying to keep up appearances.

< I think I just killed my pointe shoes dancing in my living room. What is that concept of "acting one's age" anyway?

v Your doll has a reason to celebrate! What is it and what do they do?

 

^Qinzhe finally kills his lifelong enemy Meng He! Except the celebration's super brief because he quickly realizes that...maybe killing Meng wasn't what he wanted to do all along.

<I left my phone on the bus yesterday! But a super nice guy actually got out of the bus and ran and gave it back to me. It's things like this that warm my cold, dead heart.

v What is your doll's biggest regret?

 

^ There are a lot of regrets to go around. Zeke still thinks about his broken relationship with his father, wonders if he could have patched things up if he'd wanted. Nova's regrets center around Vice, the only person he can bring himself to trust, and all of the things he should have told him before he destroyed that trust. Jun wonders if a call to action might have changed her fate, but in the long run, she's sure she couldn't do anything anyway. Karalyn might be the only one of my crew who doesn't really harbor regrets, she's too busy in the present to dwell on the past.

< Just completed my first ever homemade wig! I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. (Though if I could find ready-made wigs in the right shade of blue, I wouldn't have to resort to making my own. [sigh])

v What's the messiest doll project you ever worked on? Maybe you got paint all over the table, or scattered fabric scraps all over the floor, or covered whatever was around in a fine layer of resin dust. Share your stories!

 

^ Everything I sew causes a mess, most of it contained in my sewing box. It's completely overstuffed and every time I open it I need to re-organize it ... or get a bigger box.

< speaking of sewing, I should modify the straps on a pair of pants I got for one of my boys. Because he's taller than the average MSD the straps aren't long enough to go from his hips, over his shoulders and down to his hips again.
Maybe cut them and sew in some elastic the same color as the straps to extend them?

^ Well, none of my dolls has huge wardrobes, but Aelic's is definitely the biggest. He mostly just has cute, casual stuff, jeans and sweaters, some leggings, Vans and Converse... I'm hoping to get him some overalls/shortalls soon, 'cause they're so cute~

< I really need to resist the urge to keep adding dolls to my wishlist. I have so many already. But there are so many pretty dolls out there...

v Does your doll/character have any special skills or talents?

 

^ I'm going to answer this one but it will take a while so I'm going to edit this one.
Thaddeus is a wizard who specializes in fireballs, he can also see the past of anyone he looks at.
Equinox is a mystic, esp mind reader, clairvoyant and has a ghost friend as a medium to the other side.
Drake sees ghosts and demons.
Dakota is a shapeshifter, he becomes a white stag or a white buck rabbit.
Hunter sees the movement of other worldly beings, ghosts and so called 'fairies'.
Azure has telepathy, he is mute but not deaf. He is an alien too so he try to blend in, lol, he is covered from head to toe with tattoos.

v Passing on the question while I edit this with my list of talented boys. Does your doll/character have any special skills or talents?

 

^ Pretty much every one of them, yep. ^^ Starting with the OC universe, all my "elves" are variously skilled in magic, from "just starting to learn" (Cete, Instar) to "some of the most skilled mages to be found" (Gabriel, Maren, Arthen, Adet). (And Prae can open doors between worlds. which is a unique skill even among the mages.) Liora's great at research, and finding connections other people miss in the process. Ferre's great at sailing, having been raised on a ship. Opiya's good at getting funding for Liora's "wild goose chase" research efforts. Alev's a skillful negotiator. And Maca's a skillful pain in the butt.

Going to the AU character universe, Ed and Al are both accomplished magicians alchemists, and Winry's an accomplished mechanic. Jace is an extremely powerful mind mage/illusionist, and Razzy's got some unique skills related to being half-ghost. I'm still working on how Nico's skills translate to the AU world, but he's got something going on there. And Emilia's an extremely promising medical student, as is her still-unpurchased brother.

^ Elliot reads all the time (or will when I make him some books). His favorites are literary fiction, poetry, and classics, mostly because those are what's in the public domain, heh. He also likes the occasional bit of fantasy and science fiction.
