^ I'd love to have a garment similar to that of Tokyo Ghouls Kanekis Aogiri uniform for my demon girl but it seems impossible to find unless i commission it, and even then it may be pretty pricey with all of the details I want to add.

v If you could have a custom doll to look like one of your characters, what would it look like and what colours would it be available in?

 

^ Hmm... Well, I have a gecko character that I'd love to have as a doll... He'd have to come in grees resin and gave some serious painting though, 'cause he's based on a day gecko. (They're green with neon blue and red/orange and all sorts of bright colors.) He has gecko-looking hands and feet and a big floppy tail, but other than that is pretty human looking.

< I really hope these pants will fit Ilya. I feel like he's probably tired of wearing frilly bloomers. And being headless, most likely.

v If your doll/character played a sport, what would it be and why?

 

^ um seil would go with fencing or kendo I think since he's a swordman.

< I need a second job XC I can't live on these 3 hour shifts.

v your doll characters fav. Color?

 

^ The character ones are pretty easy... Ed's is red; Jace, Al and Nico all really like blue; Razzy and Winry are green fans; Emilia likes white. For the OCs, Gabriel tends to like darker colors, Maren likes blues and purples, Esa likes green and bright colors (very spring-like), Cete likes pink, and Instar thinks favorite colors are silly (but likes earth tones).

< It's so nice out! I probably shouldn't have my window open because pollen, but fresh air! Though I'm not sure what the kittens are up to over there...

v Your character's going on a blind date! How do they dress?

 

^ Oh man, Ilya would be a mess. He has absolutely terrible fashion sense, not being from human society and all, so I don't even know what he'd go with. It could be anything from a maxi skirt and a sweater to a soccer jersey and jorts. We just don't know. Aelic, on the other hand, would probably wear a cute sweater or button up with some nice jeans.

< I am very excited for Toshi's hair, though it's probably gonna make me want to get his face redone too...

v Which, if any, of your dolls would you like to overhaul? New stringing, faceup, wig, eyes, anything!

 

^Bridget needs to be restrung, and depending on how I'm able to fix her current wig I may or may not buy her a new one.

<And tbh I should restring her on Thursday night so I can bring her with me to the AB meet up and not have her be headless.

v Have any of your dolls ever been meant to have one personality and ended up with something totally different?

 

^ Maybe Dave. He was originally supposed to be another character entirely. Then he changed his mind.

< HOLY SHIT it was bring-on-the-crazy day at work. Lady. For the record, a) we do not even REMOTELY have the facilities necessary to create a computer-drafted copy of your ring, extrude it out of plastic, recreate your stones, gold-plate the plastic (YOU CAN'T GOLD-PLATE PLASTIC), and thereby copy your rings; and b) your rings are not even REMOTELY worth as much money as it would take to do that.

v Your doll is faced with someone truly irrational. How do they cope?

 

^ Thaddeus doesn't cope at all, he has a temper and if he gets stressed his first impulse it to toss fireballs at the sky, if he is stressed by someone he may throw one their way. I am his most frequent target. Fortunately, I am immune, to his displeasure.

< Cloudy last night and I didn't get to see the Space Station pass over, a 6 minute pass is the maximum and it magical when you see it fly across the sky for that long.

v How does your doll react to a complete (good) surprise?

 

^ Chris would be rendered speechless. Both Katie and Ana would jump up and down and (probably) squee and hug everyone in the vicinity. The little ones (Gawain and Annabeth) would run around telling everyone about it, then (maybe) remember to thank whoever was responsible.

< Where've the last three weeks gone? And why have they taken half my needles with them? I was going to continue working on Tárion's outfit ...

v If your doll(s) could have any pet they wanted (real animal or fantasy creature), what would it be?

 

^ I think it would most likely be fantasy creatures like dragons (been wanting to get those cute Aileen Dolls' dragons)

< Can't believe I drove in bad weather to pick up my boys from their faceup trip, but they were hold hostages by the custom for a week already. It's all good as it turned out I don't have to pay any ransom tho...so it's all worth the trouble I went through today....

v what's your most horrible doll related experience?

 

^ Hmm... Probably when I lost the ankle joint for my adorable little DZ event Chinese dragon several years ago. He was so cute and I loved him, but he had been taken apart for painting and I made the mistake of trying to carry the box he was in across a windy parking lot. Some of the smaller pieces blew away, but I recovered all of them but the little ball in his ankle. It wasn't a huge deal really, because the feet were really just for show, but it ended up kind of killing my enjoyment of him, and I sold him soon after. (Thankfully, the person who bought him didn't care about the missing piece.)

< I am so ready for Ilya's head to be back. I need to show off my baby.

v What ethnicity/culture are your dolls/characters from? Do you tend to stick with your own culture when making characters, or research others?

 

^ For the time being, they're all pretty much my own culture. But that's not saying it'll stay that way forever.

< So freaking tired. I really don't feel like going to ballet class tonight.

v Since my answer was boring - how much diversity do you have going on in your collection?

 

^ not a lot but i have a mouse elf and 3 humans ,2 boys and 1 girl and have a mummy girl coming soon.

v do you have any dolls coming that you're excited about?

 

^ waiting on a narae60, which should be here in may or june! I sold my other dolls to get her, so I'm really excited to get a doll at all xD she looks like a lot of fun, which is why I was willing to sacrifice my two and a half minifees, but I didn't think I would be waiting so long D:

v what are your doll plans for the rest of 2017?

 

^ For 2017, I plan on working on my first doll - obtain her body, work on some outfits for her. I'm also considering buying a couple of the dolls on my wishlist, however I feel like I should probably have a complete outfit for my first doll at the very least before I go off buying more. And because the seller I'm getting my doll's body from didn't feel like doing splits, the body I'm getting for her is also coming with a head I had no particular plans for, and I don't feel like going through the hassle of selling it, so I guess I'll also be working on that.

V Do you feel like you have pretty decent self control when it comes to impulse buys?

 

^ Yeah. Limited budget plus forbiddingly high shipping and "import tax" costs put a damper on impulse buys ... doesn't count for crafting supplies, though. Place is stuffed with those.

< Great. Of course the boy cat loses his collar again after MONTHS ... on the very day I've been to the pet store. Someone's staying in all weekend, I've got no time to go and pick up another one before next Wednesday.

v What teeny-tiny thing drives your doll bonkers?

 

^ Aelic hates when people dog-ear their books. He'll stomp up to someone in a public place to tell them off for it. Ilya is generally really chill about most thing, but he really hates when he gets stuff stuck in his teeth. Toshi hates the noise flies and other bugs make. He's normally really composed and poised, but he'll jump up and go bananas if he can't get a fly to shut up.

v Do you have any characters you'd love to shell as a doll but don't think you'd be able to find the right sculpt? (Like if they're way too fantasy or something?)

 

^ Evangeline and Kelryn are both complete wierdos proportions/stylewise, but I think I figured out how to shell them (with a good amount of modding and some fudging of heights). The thing is nobody sells treeple or mature minis with big noses and smirks.
<aaaaaaaaa im basically getting no financial aid from one of the schools i applied to but at least my eyes finally came in.
v What's next on your project list?

 

^ Once I get the desk in my workshop cleaned off (and am through con season), I'll be finishing up Ed's leg so I can get the dye jobs done and move on to the next part. (The arms. Augh.) And I'll probably add in someone for blushing, too. Maybe the hippogriff. I'm inspired by the hippogriff. And it might be nice to tackle something new first before refreshing someone else...

< I should probably narrow down who's going with me to the con. But I want a range of sizes. And of styles. And Arioch's just too cool to skip. And so is the hippogriff. Who still needs a name...

v Do you prefer to have just a couple big projects, or lots of little small ones, on your list?

 

^ I prefer to have a couple of big projects, they kind of feel like special goals. I tend to find small things tedious for some reason, I'm not sure why...

v Is your doll in any fandoms?

 

^ no, they wouldn't have a clue. They take on board what interests them and adapt it to their needs.

V Do you have any floating head you wish to get a body for?

 

^ Nah. I have floating body actually. I have several heads I'd like to try on it, but not sure^^

v Are you "playing alone" or share your character's Universe with your friends? How do you decide who will keep the one character or another?

 

^ I'm playing alone ... though I sometimes wish I wasn't. If I ever manage to find a shell for the last missing main (seriously Mike, I'm running out of patience!) I'm planning sort of "interactive stories" - the main story is supposed to be proceeding like it always was, but I'd like an accompanying blog and things to allow for some RP.

< Friday! Yeehaw. I almost got some free time ... if it wasn't for the fact I need to fine-tune the Deadlands adventure for next weekend. We've got one Pinkerton more than I bargained for, and the player deserves some goodies too. Move over, cattle thieves ... send in the creatures.

v If your dolls found themselves in a RPG / movie setting, what genre would they fare best in?

 

^ Well mine already exist in the harry potter world, so they would do good there, but fantasy would attract Damian and Katie, while Ken and Albert would like action.

v I really liked that question, so I'm passing it down: If your dolls found themselves in a RPG / movie setting, what genre would they fare best in?

 

^ Well, Ilya is already kind of in a fantasy story, so probably that! Same for Toshimaru, though he'd be in more of a supporting role. I'm not sure abor Aelic... I guess fantasy as well, maybe as a magic-user or something.

< Ug, waiting for releases is awful... I want my Tenten already.

v Do you have any companies you're waiting for specific releases from, or companies you wish would release some new dolls?

 

^Too slow. I do crafting, making clothes and wigs for the ones I already have and work on backstories.
^^Nope. I am hoping this is the year I get most of my guys outfitted. Waiting on two heads and a body I ordered last year and early this year but other than that I am not looking for more dolls.

< Cutting more wood for the pub. Enormous project got bigger.

v Do you have objects you are wanting for your dolls?

 

^I want way too many objects for him. A doll sized phone, rubix cube, sketchbook, (possibly) ram horns, all the books, a laptop, etc. The list goes on and on

v What does your doll do in their free time for fun?

 

^ He walks along the lake in the moonlight or surf the sea at night. He is nocturnal though he can do daytime if he bothers.

V what flower does your BJD prefer?

 

^ Porcel prefers Sunflowers because it makes him think of warm places and Momo like Orchids because of their colors!

v Would you make your boys wear lingerie?

 

^ Oh geez. Well, I guess I wouldn't mind with Ilya, because his character is a total goof and would have fun with it. Aelic is a bit too childish looking for me to be comfortable with it, and Toshi just...no. But some of my bigger boys, when I get them, might have some a little less ironically.

< I am really sick of golf. For once.

v Kind of along the same line, do your dolls/characters prefer conservative or more flashy clothes and why?

 

^i have a male character--his original name is Tristan, though he goes by Morte--and it's actually a part of his storyline. He had a messed up life in napoléonic France. Wound up a grim reaper and took it on as a name. The thing is, to those of you who don't speak French, Death is la mort. Feminine already without the 'e.' The only time you get the extra e that I know of is in a past tense when referring to a woman who has died. So between some of what happened when he was in France as a human (that I won't talk about here for good reasons) and a lot of what happened after, hes often treated like a woman in his times would have been in his situation. So it would be more to demonstrate the nature of a situation and less for Aesthetics, but yeah. I'd do it.


^^too slow! And a bit of both. Rina is rather conservative (literally dressing for maximum defence.) where Tacet, who's naturally very theatric dresses very flashy, to say the very least, and not in a lot of clothes. From there I have a range, but they're my opposites

V which of your dolls would be most likely to get involved in solving a mystery?

 

^ actually, most of them would! That's generally what they all do! Though Alex would have to be physically dragged along, or bribed with sweets and booze, because his lazy ass doesn't do anything remotely like work without being forced.

V What do your dolls do? School? Work? Solve mysteries? Is there an underlying theme to their lives that unites them all?

 

^ On the OC side, most of the characters are actually in charge of governing a (dying) society. The majority are at the upper levels, so their main responsibilities are delegating responsibility. And handling a lot of the stronger magic used, since the society is a magiarchy, with the most powerful mages holding the highest positions. The kids are kids, of course, and they spend their time either at their studies or out playing as kids do, and there's a growing number of "emissaries" lately, who are representatives of some of the other races in their world (which are still to a degree dependent on the main one).

On the Character side, Jace probably isn't too far off from his current canon role (there's some deviations, but the overall job is probably the same), which is solving interguild and interplanar issues. Ed's stuck basically as an "errand boy" to his superior, due to being heavily indebted to him. Al's a researcher, Winry's a mechanic, Razzy and Nico are enjoying being kids who are finally somewhat unburdened from their former lives, and Emilia's studying to become a doctor. Most of their "uniting theme" is that they're all family in some way (mostly in the "family you choose" way), and live together or very close to each other.

< My dragon arrived today, and I forgot how massive it actually was until I got the box... so glad I drove to the office, I never could have carried that thing back on foot!

v We've covered day jobs... what do your dolls do in their down time?

 

^ Well, if his brother was there then Ilya would chatter away and keep them both up. If Ilya was by himself, he'd most likely try to practice soccer by himself in the dark and probably break something. Aelic would read, and Toshi would sit outside and just relax, maybe do some writing.

< Aahhh, Toshi's new hair looks so good. Now he just needs some era-appropriate clothes...

v What is your doll/character's greatest motivation? (Desire to do well, greed, revenge, food, etc.)

 

^ not really a sports fan . Only a professional dancer . One dancer.. she works as a burlesque dancer ^^

V how do you find time for this hobby?

 

^ I'm retired so I have plenty of time. Though several of my dolls feel neglected.

^ I just wedge it in with all my other hobbies. XD I'm one of the people at work who does other things outside it (shockingly, most programmers aren't also artistically inclined), so my free time tends to alternate between art, cosplay, mermaiding and BJDs. Though, lately, most of my free time is picking up after two insane kittens...

^^ Since @KiyoshiSensei's question wasn't answered, there's a lot of dolls here with a lot of motivations, but a good number of them are motivated primarily by the desire to do good in their worlds (though they often have other motivations as well, such as finding happiness for themselves or improving things for others at the cost of their own happiness). I do have a few with more "interesting" motivations, however, specifically Maren and Arthen, whose motivations are at odds with one another. In their world, they have a prophesy of sorts that someone will come to restore their civilization as it once was. Maren believes it and is trying to elevate the person he thinks is that person, while Arthen doesn't believe and is trying to change things to stop revolving around what he considers an empty hope.

< How is it already 10? I still need to do laundry, do dishes, tidy up the living room, send some emails, and get dressed for my meeting this afternoon... augh!

v What eats into your hobby time the most?

 

^ 100% my time management skills/procrastination. I am so bad at planning the day it's absurd, and I tend to play Overwatch for an hour too long and then be an hour off all day, and then I'll get frustrated and just push everything to tomorrow. It's a nasty cycle.

v What is your grail doll? Why?

 

^ Volks Michele...because I totally fell for his weird face and he was already a sold out LE (twice over) when I discovered him and he was hard to get and cost me a fortune. But I did get him.
Right now my sort of grail is a Rumpledoll Morfeo because, while he is adorable, I am determined to make him Man-Bat. I really want to make Man-Bat lol

V what BJD projects do you have in your project queue?

 

^ Ed and Little!Ed's automail is still ongoing... I need to clear out some non-BJD stuff so I can get back to them. And beyond that? Blushing. So. Much. Blushing. I finally have an apartment with a dedicated outdoor space where I can go to spray without worries, so I'm planning to get my workspace finished up soon here, and then just go down the line picking someone who needs either their first blush or a refresher, and just getting it done. I also have a bunch of clothes that need work and some wigs that need minor alterations, but the blushing and automail are the biggest ones.

< I need to get a lot of new colors, too. I have a good "NS normal human being" palette, but I'm lacking in tones for my tan ones, and completely lacking what I need for the fantasy and creature sculpts. Now, do I be lazy and go to Blick for it (and buy in smaller quantities each trip), or be good and go all the way out to the indie shop (and have to buy in larger quantities to make up for it), or be bold and try to find the art cellar again (and hope they stock Pan Pastels)?

v Is there a project on your plate you're really looking forward to? Or is there one you're dreading and procrastinating on?

 

^ Spontaneous project is Sock Sweaters For Everyone, and it's going great (for a change). I went shopping with my Mum today and couldn't resist picking up a bunch of kids' ankle socks with cute patterns and / or slogans, to make into sweaters for little DiM Annabeth

< HA! After (yet another) shared crafting success, I might have convinced said Mum to drop by our creative meet in a couple weeks I'll get that lady to share my hobbies yet!

v Is there any specific person you'd love to get interested in dolls? Who / why?

 

^ I don't anymore. This is a bit weird as, at the start of the hobby, I was desperate to 'addict' anybody I met.

< First dress pattern and trial completed. Hourray! Let's move to something more interesting.

V What 'sells' you a BJD outfit?

 

^ If it fits the character, I can't make it, and it's relatively inexpensive I'm sold. It's even better when the shipping is fast, it's in stock/ready to ship, the seller has good feedback, and it's a color I like.

V What outfit would your doll never wear?

 

^ My littlefee would refuse to wear anything her brother conjures up from thin air. He has just started his studies to become a caster of spells and she has decided to wait till he passes all his exams. The last spell that was meant to conjure up a spoon whitened his hair and it took his master a full 2 days to sort things out. She isn't going to take any chances.

< This world is daft.

V If you had to cast a BJD in the role of a ghost, which sculpt would you choose?

 

^ I'm trying to make a ghost character out of a Ringdoll Lucifer right now (but nothing is working out for me today), so that's my choice. Other than that I'd want to maybe used something from Dollstown or Doll Chateau. Dollmore has several good ghostly sculpts too, but they don't often make WS...so it's not easy to get them.

V For those who own several or more dolls: you're going to a large doll meet and you can only take three dolls. Which do you bring and what would they wear?

Those owning three or less: what would you dress your dolls in for the meet?

 

^ Most of the time it tends to be Ed, Jace and Razzy, though the third position does rotate a bit. Now that Ed's outfit is done-ish, he always wears his red coat and shiny pants. Jace, I'm still working on his outfit, so he usually gets his nice suit. Razzy gets either one of her cute dresses or her ghost outfit, because she can't share clothes with anyone, her size is weird.

< So tired of sanding... so many more tiny pieces of wood to sand... someone save me from the splinters!

v Your dolls are going to a convention, what kind of convention is it and what are they most looking forward to?

 

^ Ilya would go to literally any kind of convention and have a blast... But if he had to choose, he'd probably go to a sports convention. He loves basically all sports (but especially soccer), and he'd probably like shopping there the best. Aelic would probably like something like Comic-Con, just because there's so much variety. He'd probably like cosplaying and just walking around looking at stuff and being with friends.

< Ug, I said I was going to work on Ilya's outfit today... Oh well. It's not gonna run away I suppose.

v What is your doll/character's least favorite thing to do?

 

^ Ana absolutely hates tidying up. Her room is a complete and utter mess. Sometimes Cali picks up after her, but mostly (when she gets too much) she just grabs all of Ana's stuff and dumps it on her bed so she has to deal with it. Helpful friends are helpful ... of sorts.

< hahaha oh my, the poor boy cat is in a cone of shame and he's the most confused fuzzy thing ever.

v Do you have pets? How do you keep them from getting into your doll things?

 

^ I have a cat living with me but I have two more cats, a dog, and a tarantula that will be moving in with me again sometime this year. The cat living with me will occasionally sniff my doll or gently rub him with her head but otherwise she completely ignores him. He has a special shelf on my bookshelf so she's even less interested but one of the other cats will seek out and destroy all that I love. When that cat comes I'll probably move my doll into my closet where I can lock the door until I can get a display case of some sort.

v Where do you keep your dolls?

 

^ I presently keep all my things I like to display on some shelves above my bed - dolls, stones, etc. I am planning to buy/build a bigger shelving unit either when I've rearranged my room or when I've moved out, but that is a project for another day.

< Two more days and I should be able to finally pay off this layaway!

V Does/do your doll(s) have any piercings?

 

^ Nope, not even her ears. She's like me that way.

> Soom Kahn tempts me. No, brain, don't do it! He's too big. He's too expensive. He only comes in white or grey, and I'd rather have normal skin. I should finish sewing for my first doll before I even think of getting more. But blight it, his sculpt is PERFECT for a bloke I'd like to shell.

v Was there ever a wildly expensive limited doll you just had to have? Did you resist, or did you give in to temptation?

 

^ Yep, FairyLand Sia. I have a character I wanted to shell who has a non-human body, and until I saw the preview sketches and shots of Sia, I hadn't seen anything larger than a tiny that might work without heavy modding. I've sold on the Sia heads, and hopefully this year will finally order the head I actually want on the body (it currently wears the event head that came with it), but I have no regrets about getting up in the middle of the night to order that body.

< I suppose I should get back to sanding and painting. I really need to get this presentation done, too... something to do while paint dries?

v Does your doll tend to work ahead, or procrastinate?

 

^ Aelic and Toshi are both right on top of things, they never procrastinate. Ilya, on the other hand...well, it depends. Sometimes he's all for things, other times he's not having it. He's just...all over the place, really.

< Mmm... I never thought I'd be a person to but a lot of new dolls... But I'm craving a new one! I can't wait for the LR Tenten preorder.

v If you had to choose one company to get dolls from for the rest of your life, which company would it be and why?

 

^ Ringdoll, no question about it. I love their dolls.

v What is you favorite resin color?

 

^ White or a paler pinky NS. These are the easiest colors to hybrid, which is literally my reason for liking them. XD

^ none of mine have any mods, and it will probably stay that way.
