^ Dave has his own blog and forums dedicated to his shitty webcomic and spends most of his time there. Most of the rest of my dolls are all "what is this 'web' you speak of?".

^ to get to the cookie jar one floor down. Well, it would be more like " 'am telling you: CHOCOLATE cookies! I heard them! Okay, so I grab you by the seat of your pants and the scruff of your neck and I throw you. Ready, ready? Go!"

V what kind of thing/stuff gets your doll on the war path?

 

^ Christian's career aspiration was to be Not-a-Teacher. He's a teacher.

v Do any of your dolls have a task that they avoid like the plague?

 

^ Oleifr avoids everything that involves him having to actually move. He is a very lazy boy. Kouri avoids technology because he doesn't understand it and it usually results in things being broken.

< Freaking out, which is normal. But my twins are going to get all pretty so that is something to look forward to!

v If your doll was moving, would they have everything packed way ahead of time or a giant mess of packing a day before?

 

^ my Venitu would take his preferred pants, t-shirt and sneakers then expect the rest to follow him on their own accord.
My Feeple65 Chloe would just ask passersby to take a few things if, at any time, they were on their way to the new place.
My Twigling would just grab the biggest luggage, throw everything in and hitch a ride.
My two new boys would share the packing and carrying and have an enjoyable time hiking through the wilderness to their new digs.

V what is the single piece of clothing that your doll is emotionally attached to?

 

^ good question! Jo is attached to her coat. It was her father's and it's all she really ever had of him. She used it to become a pirate, used it to hide that she was a girl (and made it eight years doing this!) she also didn't outlive it by much. As a siren, she still wears a very torn version of it when in her human form. This throws off the captain who killed her so much, when they have to work together.

V What is your doll's one deepest secret? (Can be about the doll or he character)

 

^ Azure's deepest secret, that only he and I know is that he is a telepathic alien. Everyone has figured out he can hear but can't speak and that he may have cybernetic implants but not the other two are still a secret from the others.

< Haven't felt like eating all day. I am going to be hungry in the morning.

v What gets your dolls/characters excited?

 

^ Kiyo gets excited over music. He looooooves performing and he loves going to concerts and he could talk for HOURS about his favorite artists so pull up a chair, get some snacks, and make yourself comfy.

< Ok. Power is currently on. Internet is currently up. We shall see if this holds through the weekend.

v How does your doll deal when the weather is lousy?

 

^ Meg does her best writing when the weather is lousy because she doesn't get distracted. So she ends up just writing and listening to music. But if it's lousy for a few days in a row she starts to get slight cabin fever.

< WHY EXCHANGE RATE?! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO DANG HIGH?!

v Has your doll ever asked you for a partner or child?

 

^ Yes, my doll has asked me for a partner. He's the only one of my dolls to ever ask for a partner, and I hate him for it because she's a limited. Had to go hunt her sculpt down because she fits perfectly well to the story.

< Has to go to a wedding today. I'm still in my pajamas in bed lol.

v If your doll (with a character you made up for them) becomes a real person, will you get along with them?

 

^ probably not. Not because they're awful, but my current dolls are teenagers. I remember what I was like back then, and what others my age were like and I don't think I could deal with it xD;;;

< it's that time of the year where the day starts really cold and ends up warm and you don't know how to dress to make up for it

V what your doll's favourite season and why?

 

^ Balik likes summer, mainly because on nights when the sky is clear, she can see the stars, and when it isn't she can just fly above the clouds. After so long not being able to see the sky she was at home in, it helps with the claustrophobia. And the heat of the summer helps to keep her out of control ice power in check.

< oh my gods! Stars by Sixx AM would be perfect for these two...

V how does the last song you've listened to relate to your doll characters?

 

^It doesn't, the last song I listened to was in church and my dolls never go there!

v What's the strangest place you've taken a doll?

 

^ Probably to the Department of Motor Vehicles, because I was anxious about passing the written test for my Learner's Permit. (This was yesterday, incidentally.) I would like very much to have one on the road test, but I think that would get a strange look from the instructor.

v How does your doll-character cope with anxiety?

 

^ they just see it as a warning that something is wrong. Their next move is to analyse where the imbalance is and balance it back to right if they can.

< Hooked on yerba mate . Who would have believed it a week ago?

V A stranger offers your doll to go on a adventure of her/his choosing. Which type of adventure does he/she opt for?

 

^ Dave actually opts for NO adventure, because he's had enough adventure in his life that he will be perfectly content with nothing of the sort for a good long time to come.

< Guh. I seriously should NOT even consider getting a Bermann until I can see it, but...

v When was the last time you had to forcibly stop yourself from buying a doll?

 

^ Um, I actually do this all the time. I literally cannot count the # of times I've had stuff in my shopping cart, or a pm completely written out to a seller here and am about to hit send or "check out" when I manage to not. I've done it a lot this year. In the long run not buying is the better option as I've never regretted it...and usually they're all impulse buys or "settles" because I can't get what I really want - which I almost always find after not buying.

V Have you ever had a doll you could just not figure out suddenly work? What did you do to fix the "problem"?

 

^ Oh, yes. My Iplehouse Tedros hung out forever, went through several different eyes, just waiting. Finally one day when I was putzing around writing, and everything sort of clicked into place. Tedros happened to be sitting next to my Unidoll Jace (who had an equally nebulous sort of identity), and they decided they were best friends and things just sort of clicked from there. So now I am super-happy with them both. :B A djinni and a mage. Awesomeness.

< So much doll-doing stuff last week! I feel all successful and accomplished!

v What has been your most successful doll project to date?

 

^ Erm...well, I'm rather proud that I was able to patch up my LTF's broken wrist-magnet-magic-thing. He came to me with it broken, and the former owner had just put (too much) hot glue on it. I used a bit of epoxy and it fixed up nicely, you can't even see the mismatched epoxy when his hand is on...Still have no idea WTF is going on inside his head, though and at this point I'm too afraid to ask...soo, random cord holding his head on FTW.

< The feeling when a trade fizzles away and you stop getting replies is horrid. I was so excited to finally get one of my grails and I think I scared the other party away. It's probably my fault, but it still sucks marbles.

^ What would you do if you found a doll at a second hand store/flee market/garage sale/antique shop/estate sale?

 

^ Fly in and buy it! It would be a rare occurrence so I wouldn't be able to pass it up to have bought a bjd in such a unrelated place.

< Time to save, save save! I've finally know what body to get for my head that I can afford more easily.

v If you had the chance to have an expensive haul on one bjd website, what would it be?

 

^ Iplehouse. Their EID dresses are about the closest ready-made thing I can find to fit my Dollshe gal and holy god are some of those dresses gorgeous. Do want.

v Your doll has insomnia something fierce. How do they deal?

 

^ Sleeping tablets. Meg wouldn't mess around and just get them off the doctor and pass out. If it can't be cured by those, she would end up binge watching shows on Netflix and rating the hotness of guys on each show.

< Two dollars in my doll savings account, that's two dollars all up. It sounded so much easier in my head

v If your doll could have any mythological beast as a pet, what would it be and why?

 

^ Does actually having one count? Akai has a Tanuki for a companion (the Japanese mythical creature, not the animal). Akai is blind, though he sees in his own way, but Tou helps him with a lot of things. She also prefers the apperence of a raccoon rather than a tanuki which comes in handy helping master.

But I digress, to actually answer your question...hmm, well Sora would have a dragon..."a big purple fire-breathing dragon that could eat a**hat and it would be adorable" to be exact.

< My dolls hate each other, two of them anyway...Sora and Kouriel (both in character and in shell) can not stand one another for some reason...hence the above from Sora.

< Do any of your dolls hate each other? Not the kind where it's part of their story, more the kind where it just happened? Like you can feel the dolly hate but have no idea why? Lol

 

^ Nah. My dolls are pretty inanimate. No hate between resins here.

^ Does the tracking number for my Doll Legend Chimera head count? No? Okay. Hmmm. Probably finding out that Doll Chateau Hugin and Munin would be available for separate order. ^^;

v Does your doll-character have any obnoxious habits?

 

^ Alex smokes and John is just obnoxious. That should count.

^ ^Ash and Evz and their demon alter-egos Aalon & Eozahl have spontaneous PDAs that make everyone a little uncomfortable and Thaddeus' temper tantrums are very obnoxious.
oops too late^ PDAs are easy to show; temper tantrums are less so but I do get photos of it.

v Do any of your dolls have a significant others and do they live with you or a dolly friend?

 

^ Those of mine who have a significant other all live with me. (For the moment that's Sven and Lauren, Chris and Katie, and Jo and Eric, even though they're not quite "canon". There will also be Mara and Michael, soon as I get him shelled.)

< Human sewing or dolly sewing? Decisions ...

v Ever been frustrated with the hobby? What happened?

 

^ On occasion, but it's less the hobby itself and more some of the people associated with the hobby. Not gonna lie, some of the attitudes make me insane -- but that is probably obvious because I'm not good at muzzling my reactions when presented with such attitudes. (See: recast discussion threads or any thread I get a little salty in.)

v Got any doll-related obsessions?

 

^ Modifications and customizing is my obsession. I just love making a doll all my own. Most are non invasive mods but some are quite extensive.

< Just rain already and get it over with. *sigh*

v Do you have any particular part of the hobby that makes you the happiest?

 

^ Face-ups. I love it. I love getting the look just right, bringing a distinct character out of a blank head. I also enjoy successful teensy knitting.

< RACCOON. @u@ Little half-grown raccoon on my deck, wanting to bunker down from the bad weather. It was making its little raccoon noises and I think I might die of adorableness.

v Is there a BJD anthro or pet that you wish you could find?

 

^ A long-haired cat. I'd get at least two...but no cats in BJD land have long hair.

^ making leggings. I never thought it could be that easy as well.

^ Making wigs with fiber or hair. I can whip out a fur or fake fur wig in minutes. I have yet to make a fiber one that looks decent.

^ I'm...not really sure, as I've never had jointed hands. Part of me wants to say jointed hands...so jointed hands? Lol I imagine I would be horrid at posing them though. XD

v You doll is carving a pumpkin, what gets carved into said pumpkin?

 

^ Christian would probably just do a traditional jack o' lantern face. Though I think he would skip getting the decorative one and get a pie pumpkin instead so he could make muffins or something.

< @Shai and @VampireAngel13 --It had been brought up in a DC thread, and I've been scrambling like crazy to find it because my son wants one with his whole heart but none of the dealers and sites I've been to offer it separately and now I'm wondering "Did I just dream it?!?!? O_O Because that's not funny, brain!" ::headdesk headdesk headdesk::

v Is your doll one to trick or treat or to stay at home and give out candy? Or do they just hide from the whole Halloween thing?

 

^ Using my two main doll characters: Alex is a vampire, and his birthday is the day after Halloween. John's birthday is the day before Halloween. Neither of them care about Halloween (it's my favorite tho. They suck.), neither of them are dressing up (Alex got a shirt, John is going to be barely dressed at all) but both of them will eat all the candy.

Joker and Harley are totally decked out however. I have to get pictures of them. Seriously.

V Are you dressing any of your dolls up for Halloween? Or is it just like any other day?

 

^ I'd love to, but I don't think I'll have the time to get anything remotely like a costume done this year. Too much human-scale sewing going on, and you never know, one or more of the dolls I ordered might yet make it home.

< I have so many dolls on order. Planning more. Seriously, what. ... Then again, some of those should have been home half a year ago, so maaaaybe it's not entirely my fault. *tries and fails to look innocent*

v What about you? Any special doll plans for any upcoming holiday? (Seeing as how German supermarkets are in full xmas mode already ...)

 

^ Maybe this year I can make a little christmas greeting card with my dolls, but it's too late for halloween :'(

v how is your doll celebrating halloween? Are they going trick or treating, having a horror movie marathon, or something else?

 

^ If i don't work that day clover will be trick or treating with me and my nieces and nephew. Since she would be the type to like doing it even as a teen.

^ Lian. Absolutely Lian. He may look the sweet mori boy but good lord does he have a wicked streak.

< I think my attachment to this show is triggered by my youthful desire to be a figure skater. I wanted to be one sooooooo bad. Wanted to be coached by Brian Orser (who coaches Kim Yu-na, for the record). But my parents couldn't afford lessons or to drive me half an hour to the nearest rink. So now I live vicariously through anime.

v Do you ever consider yourself to live vicariously through your dolls' stories? Why or why not?

 

^ most of my dolls have really dark stories, and there's a lot of death. If I were living vicariously through most of it, I'd need a staggering amount of counselling. What I can admit is that I do slip little personal experiences in (ie: Azrael's boyfriend tells a story about his first brown Christmas, and that's a personal one.) I also have a theory that all MC's are, at their core, either the kind to want to save the day (and try to do so, albeit usually with help), or the kind to want someone to save them. This means, sometimes, writing a certain character archetype can represent the author either wishing s/he had the power to "hero it" and fix things in real life, or had someone to fix their problems. I find I'ma lot more prone to writing the former, but don't know if I'm actually doing it to live vicariously, or doing it because protagonists that have everything given to them and done for them frustrate me.

Also, I suppose the fact that all my protagonists are bi or attracted to others of their gender is a little telling... before I was out as a lesbian, that was definitely an escape. I mean, Rina was my first bi protagonist, and exploring different romances with her (canonically she has had a boyfriend and a girlfriend--separately of course) allowed me to explore my own attraction to girls.

Tldr; in small aspects, but not for most of their storylines.

V coming back to a point from my wall of text... is your doll character one to want to solve their own problems, or the type to want someone else to?

 

^ Most of them will try to solve the problem by their own as they are all adults and such. But one of my yosd, a troublemaker is certainly the one who will let others to worry about all that complex problems XD.

< Really want to do photoshoots but so many things are happening at once...

v Is there a troublemaker in your doll characters?

 

^ Sev, Alan, Oliver, and Jeremy are all trouble-makers in that way only teenage boys can manage. Alcyone kind of goes out of her way to antagonize Matilda, but Matilda very rarely rises to the bait. Scrambles may yet be a trouble-maker, but I'll know better once he's home.

v Do you have a pretty agreeable bunch of doll characters, or do you have some who just do not get along?

 

^ in my reaperverse, when you consider Grim is responsible for the death of one of them, and large amounts of PTSD on at least 3 more, and war tried to end the world, which lead to Famine and Death being under mind control and Valkyrie having to beat the actual heck out of him to stop him from crossing into the mortal plane, whilst Cadere was trying to un-brainwash her girlfriend... yeah, they're not such a cohesive bunch. (Val totally did some unspeakable things with War at one point though...)

In my 4 worlds verse, Euphony, Cacophony, Rina, Balik and midnight get along great, most of the time. When Tacet is involved it all goes down the drain. See, tacet did trap Balik and keep her in a closet at one point, for multiple years. And she did try to kill Rina... and she told E and C's abusive father (also her abusive father) where they were hiding out. But for some reason, Euphony wants to help her when she's being apprehended as a war criminal.

V how do your doll characters all get along?

 

^ Pretty well TBH! Linnhe, Broch, Isla and Astrid are all a family, they're pretty functional and really love eachother. Obviously they bicker sometimes, but nothing major. Mordecai isn't related to any of my other doll's story lines, but he gets on with pretty much everyone Cx He's a real sweetheart

V What is your grail doll?

 

^ I have more than one, but I'll just pick - Dollshe Saint, he was originally the doll I wanted for Kouriel, but due to the price I kinda just assumed I'd never have him. I ended up finding my Cynical Yujin to shell Kouriel and don't regret anything - however, I still really want a saint.

v If you could only have one skintone for all your dolls, what would it be? ("Fantasy" does not count, if you want a fantasy colour it can still only be one colour, not all fantasy colours XD)

 

^ white cuz then i could try dyeing the resin myself or body blushing....is that considered cheating?

v demon or angel? Do you perfer to make doll characters that are dark, mysterious, with gory background or a character who is more normal everyday or a bit of a hero?

 

^i first read the prompt very literally and went "...oops, I have both..." though I think, as you define it, the majority of mine would fall under demon. There are heroes, but not of the everyday variety. The vast majority of my characters have dark backstories. Rina, for instance, is something of a hero, in that she does whatever it takes to save Balik from her situation, however, she does it largely as a coping mechanism for a trauma she's been through. As well, she is a former assassin, and has dark-allied characters. Calling most of my characters wholly good or evil is virtually impossible.

V which of your doll characters would be the most unlikely hero.

 

^ On first blush it would be Dave -- but when you boil it all down and look at his history he is the epitome of hero.

v Dragging a question down from earlier and twisting it -- do you have a grail doll? If you do -- is it the same grail you had when you started the hobby? If not, what was it then and what is it now?

 

^ Yep, it's Lillycat Kitty Jolie and its not the same grail as when I first started the hobby- if I correctly recall it was a LUTS Ani.

v What is the biggest amount of money you have spent at one time on clothes/accessories in the bjd hobby?

 

^ Since I don't really buy clothes, that would have to be the huge-ar$e fiber order for wig-making. Nice fibers are expensive ... but so purrrdy!

< How come that on most days when I've done a bazillion important things I feel like I'm getting nothing done, and today while I'm doing nothing but hobby stuff I feel accomplished AF?

v What's your favorite place to spend dolly dollars?

 

^ Oh, gosh, it depends what I'm wanting to spend it on. O_O Since I'm usually on the hunt for eyes, wigs, dolls, and shoes, it's usually a dealer like Mint on Card or Alice's Collections. If it's an instant gratification doll, then it's usually Junky Spot. XD

v Ever do an impulse buy for a doll? (i.e. not a lot of thought beforehand, just "oh hey that's cute and in-stock or on the Marketplace...") How did it work out for you?

 

^ yep I remember one time I bought a sculpt roughly 24h after finding about its existence! I loved it, but seemingly didn't quite have the funds for it as I remember selling it shortly after getting it :'(
