The ^ < v Game! - Part 2

Apr 8, 2016

    1. ^ I should be working on face-ups or knitting or sewing, but instead I play on the computer. :B Whoops. I'll knit after lunch.

< I'm hungry and nauseous today at the same time! This could get exciting.

    2. ^ Oh, definitely little miss Belle-Marie, who you can see in my avatar picture. She's been here less than a year and she already has more outfits than her brother, who is three years old. It's just so easy to make little dresses for her!

< I touched the spoon Mom was using to make hot sauce last night with my finger. IT BURNS. ใƒ˜๏ผˆใ€‚โ–กยฐ๏ผ‰ใƒ˜

    3. ^ For now the one at the top is Chloe from Aquariusdoll in light brown skin, but only because I got one of my so-called grails recently (Dearmine Agrippa).

< Yesterday I changed all my dolls to their autumn clothing because the weather just turned out really cold and I couldn't stand watching them with summer-themed clothing xD

v Which are the two members of your resin family that can't stand each other?

< I still love the fact that this game series is canonly a character's favorite game series in Haikyuu!!. I didn't even realize it until I saw some footage of the game Kenma was playing and lo and behold, it was Monster Hunter 3.

    6. ^ Denzel enjoys Final Fantasy titles the most, but pretty much anything involving airships is cool to him. :3

    8. ^ Hmmm... No. Never thought about it really

< Want to go hone. Craft needs me!

      • Funny

      • Creative
    9. ^ Only for a little bit, generally. I try to either have the proper stuff on hand or order it when I order the doll. Sometimes there's an unexpected arrival, and then I have to put wrong stuff on them. DX Yagami Iori's wig though is not quite right, because his video game hair is hard to translate into reality. The red isn't quite the right shade either, but again, video games versus reality. I have a few in the "not-quite-right" category, but it's the best I can do.

< Busy adulting day! So wonderful!

v Which of your dolls has had the hardest look to pull together? Details?

    10. ^really, tacet was one of the hardest looks to fill together, it's easy to find pastel goth/Lolita type styles for f60 but she has som accessories making it challenging. I can't find pink yarn, for instance, with long enough fibres, so she might have to be my first alpaca wig. She also needs a harness, kind of like the ones Mirrorada makes, but her shop's been closed. She has these crystal roses on everything, which are supposed to be pinky-orange and don't exist on the internet. Anywhere. In the center of this all, she has this one very specific gem at her heart. It's either heart shaped or star shaped, and is actually the soul of her late lover. It's very important to/for the character. I also am having so much trouble finding a stone for it (there's quartz that ish works, but really, I think Anastasia topaz is the best, were it not so expensive..) not to mention, she's always a slut for eyes. So her shortlist is five pairs of oscar eyes, 28 things on Etsy, and one lovely sparkly pair elsewhere on the web. Plus, you know, her body is impossible to get cause everyone wants an f60 body, apparently.

<I feel better now that that's off my chest.

    12. ^ I really like the DC Dolls and just any of the unusual qualities they have, but none of them will fit in my story/plot. >_O... But they're just unique and some of them scare me, but some of them are really beautiful.

< Getting anxiety because I want to buy concert tickets for a show 6 hours away from me, but its the closest show.

      < *sigh*

    15. ^ Hrm this is always tough for me, because sadly, I don't know when some of my dolls were actually released. My Dollmore Kara Klum is the one I've had the longest, but my Migidoll Ryu's head is from 2007 and I have no idea when White Cat Chris was released. I am convinced his body was actually his body -it came with my Ryu- (maybe not that exact head, but I bet it came from WCC), so he could possibly be my oldest. Or that Elf Chiwoo head I have....but he was in horrible shape when I got him so he doesn't count (but he looks great now!!).

Either way, other than a little yellowing - all perfectly even - they've all held up beautifully! Even my MD Ryu who I was told was very yellow when I bought him in 08 isn't that far off from new MD WS - back in 2014 when they had it. So there! Old dolls are fabulous! (though I know there are so many people scoffing at my idea of old. Too bad.)

      > Anyone else just want to take off from work? Bleargh.

V Who out there owns a mix of old and new sculpts? How do integrate the different styles into your collection?

    16. ^ I've got a mix of older and newer. It actually hasn't been too hard, since I tended toward smaller-headed, less-stylized dolls back in the day, and still tend toward the smaller-headed, sweet spot between super stylized and super realistic. I've moved more toward Chinese companies, since they blend well with my Volks, Dollmores, and Souldolls. I have a few oddballs like my Tedros and my pair of bobble-head girls, but I just sort of accept it and take careful pictures. The bigger frustration has been the increasingly tall bodies. DX It's really messing up the sense of proportion and scale in my doll crew to have too many 72cm+ guys in among all these 62cm pipsqueaks. Either Christian is extra-short, or he has a whole lot of REALLY tall friends....gaah.

< I am so finished with the adulting today, yes yes. Someone else can adult now.

v What is a style of body that you would love to see but it still hasn't happened yet?

    17. ^ Both chubby guys and gals or a really androgynous / skinny girl without super wide hips and/or huge boobage. The Granado Nuevo girl comes closest, but I mean like Doll Chateau skinny without the huge hips. For guys, I'd actually be happy with a choice between "stick insect" and "buff with six pack". I love those, too, but I love variety as well. :) A bit of a tummy would be sweet.

< What is this "adult" you speak of? *folds and packs a bunch of Star Trek costumes for the weekend* I can NOT wait. We had a blast last year and we have even more space and will actually take parts of our sets this time :dance And I'll take the modded 'bitsus, for some mixed Trek and doll nerdity.

< I actually wrote over 1,000 words tonight! Whoot!

< Want more dolly time, more monies and less work. Grrrr. *sigh* Don't we all.

v Have you stuck with one bjd "aesthetic" or do you have many? Do you have a style you love consistently, or do you find yourself drawn to doll sculpts/themes that previously didn't grab you?

    25. ^ Mostly. I tend to stick with the more stylized aesthetic (not realistic, but not the full-on "anime" look some have), but I've branched out a bit into human dolls from my original intent to go with only fantasy sculpts.

< I need to start art commissions or something to fund new doll shelves, I'm tired of everyone being stuck in a closet...

    29. ^i probably shouldn't talk about the content that was in the actual last song I listened to. But the one before that was Made of stone by Evanescence. Really, it could be azraels anthem, considering the lengths she goes to to avoid feeling. The bridge (I'll numb the pain till I am made... to tear out my heart for the way that it feels.") is pretty accurate to both of her major canon relarionships, as she did try to use powers to literally tear away her own feelings. Didn't help. One of these was the death of her..

    30. ^ I tend to associate The New Pornographers' "Go Places" with Ed and Jace, it matches with their joined story and relationship nicely. ("And a heart will always stay one day too long;" "Like magic, play aces, stay with me, go places;" "Come one now, come all ye, the story breaks free here.") Very lovely song, if you've never heard it.

    31. ^ If we're still talking about the last song we listened to? That'd be Killing Joke's cranky yet lively 1996 punk anthem "Another Bloody Election". Which I suppose would be Reika, or possibly Seiya-- our resident brainy civic-minded cynics.

If we're talking about any random image songs, got a few of those too. Project Pitchfork's "Steelrose" for Yuki (sexy industrial dance), Nina Hagen's "Antiworld" for Zero (genre-defying delirium sung in demon voices), Biohazard's "Five Blocks to the Subway" for Rowan (rap-metal with plenty of swearing).

< Owww. My sciatic nerve can absolutely go @#&%$!! itself.

Ringdoll K head, Dollmore Model body, Luts gun hands
Ringdoll Aya/Mona head, Zaoll body, CP Delf hands
Modoll MNM Benedict Cumberbatch head, Dollmore glamor model body, Dika doll jointed hands

    38. ^ Well, I'm just going to say it: I have no regrets.
I've given this question thought, it's come up before in different places (what you do if you could do it again?), and I just don't think I would. I can't think of anything, buying dolls I I didn't keep, selling dolls I changed my mind on, making mistakes here and there....that if I did differently might made things better. My first doll was a doll I loved, I didn't start out buying I didn't 100% want, I didn't ruin any of my dolls, I worked at my own pace....I like where I am in the hobby, I like the people I know, and the dolls I have. I can't see how doing anything sooner, or later, or different would make a difference. So, no regrets.

      > However if I don't get one of those DZ Tarot dolls I may regret that....*cries* Why'd they have to come out now?? Why am I always more broke in October?!

I wish I had listened to my gut and to my heart and hadn't gotten him, and I am glad to no longer have him, but I am very sorry because I could have used that money for something else, and I didn't get anywhere near what I paid for him. =n= That I regret, but it did teach me a valuable lesson.

    42. ^ I love this question. Top priority is getting a body for my DollGa Noella. The batch of resin Leeke used in fall of 2013 was a completely different color than their usual resin, and the resin match thread was full of comparisons. I decided to go with Impldoll normal because 5Star Doll had just discontinued their 58cm body and I wanted a smaller body. Impl was a shade too dark and too pink, where as the thread showed that 5Star was a perfect match. I really regret getting the Impl body, and I sold it earlier this month. The body itself was very pretty, but the shape of the shoulders and the short neck made my Noella look like she was uncomfortable and shrugging her shoulders all of the time. My INTENTION is to not buy any more dolls or parts until after we move in January. That is already a lie, though, because I have a PW Goldie on layaway right now, and if I win a DearSD in the lottery, well, I can't exactly say no to a cutie like that. I need to just stay off the MP so I stop finding discontinued dolls I need. Oh wait, back to the question. Noella has a face up, so she gets first dibs on a body. I have a Leeke Arien who also needs a body (she matches Luts resin pretty well, so I'm going to get her a Senior Delf body) and 2 Minifee Sarang heads that need bodies, but Noella is first.

<One more day. Just one more day and this week from hell is over.

    45. ^ I save up all my change, sell things that I've made, and budget a bit into "doll money" from the monthly household income. I'm also cleaning out the extra bits out of the doll clothes, because wow, that's stacked up over the years. Also, anything I save from using coupons at the grocery store and all, a bit of that goes into the doll fund.

< Oh my goodness, they just ran a story on the news suggesting the negative impact global climate change will have upon world coffee crops. *clings to coffee* Save the world for the sake of the coffee!

    46. ^ Ringdoll Dracula head with the open mouth I found in stock at Dollsinging. I was looking to reshell a character of mine in a slightly more realistic mold and Dracula wasn't even in the running....but I am a sucker for an open mouth, especially with fangs. So I grabbed him up. So glad I did, he worked out great!

      > Well this coffee thing sounds terrifying. @Osaka I ordered Hermit. Definitely one of those things I could not pass up! Even though I had specifically planned to not buy more dolls this year. :\

    47. ^ Dollmore Nayuta Kenzo Blue Epoch tattooed glamor model was not in my plan. I have a friend who has the earlier brown one and thought he was beautiful but I didn't feel the need to buy him, but when they came out with the Blue one I kept going back to the page again and again. I finally clicked the buy button not knowing I had just bought the 9th of the limited 10. I still went back to the page while waiting for him, he sold out three days later.

< Please no coffee shortage - ever. If coffee plants suffers so will the cacao beans and a world without chocolate and coffee is too depressing to consider.

v Same question because I can't come up with a better one atm Ever found a doll you couldn't pass up even though they weren't in the "plan"? Share!

    48. ^ Switch Soseo Holy ver. :D I didn't even like him until they revealed his mouth, and instantly he became my werewolf. I never intended to bring a werewolf into the story, but I lucked out that he fits my semi-fantasy crew.

< Oh god no I can't let go of coffee we have to save the coffee!!

v What do you have for your dolls, that you have more than your dolls can use at one time? Ex. a collection of eyes, wigs, clothes more than what can be worn at once

    49. ^ Hound size black suits, Luts gun hands and guns, a specific pair of Dollmore Eve black pants, large goth boots, SD13 size black converse sneakers, black ties, Monique Jojo wigs in white blond in pretty much every size (several, in every size), Mako Eyes in OWL-011 size 12mm. There is probably more than this, I buy at least doubles of a lot of things. My dolls don't share well.

    51. ^ well, my pukifee celebrates Halloween. I have plans for the bigger dolls to get their own outfits though I am still struggling with basic patterns. I keep my eyes open for small accessories as well.

< I don't mind that series. That bleak landscape is positively cheerful.

V If your doll was a star, which one would it be?

    52. ^ It would be Orchid, my Minifee Liria. She acts like she's a movie star already. I can see her thinking she belongs in movies, but she can only act like a b***ch.

< I won a DearSD Nono! I've never won a lottery or gotten a full set before!

v Have you ever thought about having several versions of one character? Like a Yo size, MSD size, SD size? A sleeping head? One with fantasy parts?

    53. ^ Definitely! For one of my characters I want several versions such as when she was a child (1/6), her demon form, a sleeping head version, when shes an adult (1/3) and so on...needless to say she's one of my favourite original characters. (Despite me bickering about how much developing she needs personality wise)

< Oh man exams are coming up in less than a month and I've barely studied lmao.

v I love this question so I'm passing it down! Have you ever thought about having several versions of one character? Like a Yo size, MSD size, SD size? A sleeping head? One with fantasy parts?

    54. ^ I've thought about having miniature versions of two of my characters, if only to make them more travel-sized and able to get into more shenanigans XD But I don't have their full sized versions completed yet, so the mini versions get to wait for a while.

< I have 4,000 words to write by Friday... Phhhbt...

v I, too, like this question: Have you ever thought about having several versions of one character? Like a Yo size, MSD size, SD size? A sleeping head? One with fantasy parts?

    55. ^ I'm in the process of this right now. As much as I love my teenaged Snape, I decided I needed him in full-grown, bad-tempered, bitter adult form. The wig has shipped, I'm waiting on his head and eyes, and then I'm going to worry about his body. ^^; I'd also rather fancy him in MSD form, but there really aren't any of out there that would work.

      < @sailorchiron --Ooh, congratulations!! <3 :D

v Since I haven't coffeed, I'm passing down this very entertaining question: Have you ever thought about having several versions of one character? Like a Yo size, MSD size, SD size? A sleeping head? One with fantasy parts?

    56. ^ I am more into the 'several heads for one body'. I'd like to have one human head and one fantasy head for each body for variety sake. It doesn't matter if the sculpts are from the same sculptor.

< I cannot believe this :doh. Why did I put the front parts together?

V Have you got two heads that share the same body? Are they from the same company?

    57. ^ I do! Little Monica Gloomy Roselyn and Little Monica Secret Roselyn. Secret Roselyn was an event head, and my grail head! But the body has the wrong bust for her character, so the Gloomy head stays on it most of the time. Secret comes out for rare photo sessions. She will get her own body soon, I hope! It's first on my list.

< Lolol what a crack ship

    58. ^ Yellowing doesn't stop me at all. They're going to yellow/mellow anyway, even locked away in a cool dark room. So, I'd rather go outside and enjoy them. I just did a photoshoot in the hemlock grove next to my house, and more will be coming. I have too much space and natural beauty to play around with here. My dolls get to go outside unless it's the pouring rain, and that's more because I don't want to deal with wet wigs or wet clothes. DX But I'm not hiding them away to keep them from yellowing. I have some more "in the woods" shoots planned, and some on the deck on the house, and on the rock walls beside the house. I'd like to take them to the Laurel Creek Trail for some shoots with the creek in the background.

< Cooler weather at last! Now I will sit outside to sand my doll!

    59. ^ that one tall drawer in my bedroom :thumbup I don't really do photoshoots tbh, and that's the only spot in my room that is flat (floor is carpeted) and has decent lighting so it has become the spot for quick pics xD;;

      < I need a nap =.=

    60. ^ I do have permanent floating heads, but they're extras for dolls who have heads - sleeping, or different expressions or even just different faceups. Extra heads don't get their own bodies.
Other than that I am not good at body sharing.

      > Ready to go home now. It's not 5 yet...

V Do you have a doll you really like to photograph, even if it's not your favorite (it can totally be your favorite)?
