^ Save one thing? Hmm. Given that Effie always wears her rose anyway, she would save a small amber necklace her special someone gave her on their first winter solstice. She only wears it on special occasions, but it's incredibly important to her because it reminds her of just how things began: IN CHAOS.

< Dolls, dolls, so many dolls! It's decided. Saturday is going to be my doll working-on-day. Azelia will get a name, a face, HOPEFULLY a wig, I have some eyes she can borrow, and if I'm feeling ambitious (probably not) some clothes. I need to clean my room. DESPERATELY.

v What doll of yours needs the most work? Whether that's painting or assembling or buying new clothes, finding the right wig...what's on your dolly 'to-do' list?

 

^ Aside from Guy's Head I Am Ordering This Weekend, I'd have to say Sebastian. He needs a new face-up, a body, and then an entire wardrobe because I never got around to making him one on his old body. He's stylish, so this is going to take some work. From the sheer elbow-grease-and-sweat standpoint, Matilda. She is complete except getting her absurd Souldoll boobs sanded down to a more reasonable size. It's been too hot to sit outside and sand sand sand.

v Any doll projects you've been holding off on, and why?

 

^my wing making, and purely for the lack of time! I'm working full-time, which means I only have two days off and my girlfriend goes back to university soon, so I've been trying to get in as much time as I can with her. I'm thinking, once she's in school, Wednesday mornings are gonna be doll time.

<I have a hell of a dollmore order coming up...

V what's the next doll project you want to take on?

 

^ It's not so much the next one, as the ongoing one - my Ringdoll K is a massive project I didn't realize I had until it was too late. He has two extra heads - one came with a faceup but I had to alter it, and then do the hair, which isn't done. The other needs to be modded, then all the normal stuff. His body should be covered nearly head-to-toe in magical symbols, and I have barely scratched the surface. He has two pairs of hands currently, and I'd like to get him jointed ones, all of which will need the drawings and blushing. So I would really just like to work on him.

After I finish Batman.

V Your doll is unleashed in the kitchen and told to make a meal. What do they come up with, and how does it go?

 

^ The Brown siblings unleashed in the kitchen ... uh-oh. They'll try and make pasta ... the pasta itself turns out okay, the sauce is a classical trial-and-error "vegetables from Mom's garden mixed with ready-made tomato puree, throw in some spices and pray" sort of thing.
Katie will get to take care of the pasta (because the others know she'll get bored and start doing the dishes just for something to do, so the place doesn't end up a complete mess). Timmy gets stuck peeling and cutting stuff, while Jo takes charge of the whole endeavour and actually keeps track of things.

< Well, something just shipped. I got a notice from parcel2go, complete with tracking number. Who uses parcel2go? Aprilstory order status still hasn't changed ... not that that's saying much. Tracking doesn't say anything yet, description says "doll". Thanks, Captain Obvious.

v It's the end of the world as we know it! What sort of apocalypse is it (natural desaster, zombies, virus, mutant animals, pokémon got real ...) and (how) do your dolls survive?

 

^ Effie is surprisingly motivated - she would fight the government! Peacefully, but she would definitely be there protesting and bringing hot drinks to other cold protesters and offering them scones to keep their energy up. In between picketing and helping scheme for freedom!

< I'm so anxious. Why am I more nervous than excited? Two dolls coming in one after the other, one an impulse buy and one a GRAIL *eep!*...I wish my mood would settle on one. At least it's motivation to get this place CLEANED!

v Lets keep this up, it's fun. : ) The apocalypse is happening now...Ragnarok, zombies, nukes, what have you. Who is the first person (or animal) your doll goes to to rescue and seek shelter (or weapons!) with?

 

^ Zombies, always zombies. A large chunk of my dolls have lived through the apocalypse already (the story in which my original doll collection exists is post-zombie-apocalypse), and there was no shelter-seeking. My vampires are already armed, and they were more than a little happy to start the zombie-killing. What better to take on murderous, flesh-eating zombies than more murderous blood-thirsty vampires? I think they must have watched too much The Walking Dead. Maybe that's just me.

Alex isn't so much into the rescuing, but David is. I'm sure he'd try to protect as many humans as possible. Emphasis on try.

V Since the apocalypse is a lot of fun for all, which of your dolls would survive, and perhaps thrive in a apocalyptic world of doom? Which would curl up into a ball and commence whimpering? Bonus for the flavor of the apocalypse. (I always vote zombie. Maybe robots.)

 

^ im gonna shake this up and work with the characters that haven't been though an apocalypse... Or...shoot. There's kind of one in both of my series. Rina would find Balik forst. Being in the middle of an apocalypse, she would panic, and her panic leads to out of control fire powers. She needs Balik to balance that out. Balik can fly, and she's an assassin, so they'd make a pretty good team. First order of business would be finding a power source (or finding moonstones to fuel up.) they'd both be pretty likely to thrive, though if it was zombies, she'd also be the one whimpering. That really triggers her PTSD.. Not to mention, depending on the point in Ray's storyline we're at, he might be leading the hordes, or his malevolent spirit parasite, and that's gonna get messy for her for sure. Bonus points for Tacet, who would probably just go about life as usual, being lowkey badass and killing zombies for power without even messing up her lipstick.

V is one of your dolls was to reestablish society after an apocalypse, what would it look like?

 

^ Um, well. Dave actually kind of did. Except it was about half 'reestablish society' and half 'make new planet'.

< I am about half ready for school to start and already livid at my daughter's new principal. Not a good omen.

v What's the next doll on your to-buy list?

 

^ Professor Severus Snape. I decided that Teenage Snape just wasn't enough Snape for me. I'm hoping to have his head and eyes on order by Monday, and his wig very shortly after that. Yep. I need some more Snape here.

< @Tez --Cripes. Gotta love it when the school year is already off to a bumpy start before it properly even starts. =n=

v Since my answer is weird and stunningly uncreative, what's the next doll on your to-buy list?

 

^ The next on the list is also the last -- a Volks Shirou Tachibana. I'm not ready to get him (lol school shopping ate up all my $$) but when I do, the collection will be complete, so to speak, unless Miracle Doll presents itself. Since that's not likely, well.

< @Osaka -- yeahhhhhh. I have a beef with dress codes as it is but she managed to present it in pretty much the most sexist way possible. I'm like...dude, what are you doing to teach the boys how to respect the girls as opposed to policing how many inches past the fingertips the girls' skirts are and whether or not there's even a glimpse of cleavage?

v Do you have a point at which your doll collection will be 'done'? What point is it, if you do?

 

^ I feel like there should be but at the same time I don't think there is one. I guess I'll know once it actually happens.

< I'm debating whether or not to buy a second hand PukiFee Pongpong. It's an insanely good deal but I need to manage my money better.

v What is your favorite fashion style for dolls?

 

^ Casual, normal "everyday" clothes. What with one thing and another there isn't as much diversity as I was planning, but once I get back into dolly-sewing that will get better.

< I absolutely can't be getting sick again ... 7th time this freaking year, and I need this weekend to get stuff done. This can not be happening. For eff's sake.

v What's on your dolly to-do list?

 

^ I'm currently saving up for my first doll!! So excited

^ My favorite company, now and forever, will always be Elfdoll. My beautiful boys...it's such a shame you can't buy them new anymore. ;_;

^ Yeah, Ilari! He hates sleeping because he gets nightmares and flashbacks. He'll only sleep if somebody else is in the room and there's a light on.

v Do any of your doll's characters have health issues?

 

^ Sebastian and Hsiahou have a variety of aches and pains related to falling off horses and playing football (Sebastian) or combat (Hsiahou). Christian struggles with depression, Rei has chronic migraines, and Tristam is blind. Audrey has an entire slew of physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges related to autism.

< Please let schooling go more smoothly today than it has all week. I am worn out on the tantrums.

v Do you have any stubborn types in your doll family? What do they do when they are confronted with something they really don't want to do?

 

^I have quite a few stubborn boys here but the most stubborn is Thaddeus. He will throw fireballs to get away from whatever confronts him and make smoke clouds so no one can see where he went.

<Raining again when will it stop? I want my roof replaced, whaaaaaa.

v I want to revisit zombies. What would your doll family want to do about it?

 

^ What they'd want to do about a zombie apocalypse type event? Deudonne and Flannerie is down to kicking some zombie-ass, though technically with zombies being dead and all.. I think Deudonne would be more likely to be the necromancer that raised them :P

< Watching twitch streams and eating cookies.. this is the lazy slacker life.

v Continuing the zombie theme; which of your dollies are the most likely to be turned into a zombie in a zombie apocalypse event?

 

^ well, other than Ray, who is already a zombie... Most of them would be pretty safe. Rina is paranoid, with a powerful girlfriend. Euphony is pretty much God-level powerful, so he and Cacophony are good. Tacet is overpowered as all hell, and probably wound up as the overlord to the horde. So either her, as a result of hubris or Rina, because She cares too much about a character who is a zombie already.

V in a zombie apocalypse event, which of your dolls would be most likely to survive?

 

^ Oh wow. I'd say probably Dave, but then again he does kind of have immortality on his side.

< I need like two weeks off and it's not going to happen. So I need to kind of make my two days off work for me when they roll around again.

v On the theme of the undead: your doll has been turned into some kind of undead monster. What are they and how do they cope?

 

^where do I begin? The vast majority of my doll characters are reapers, which are undead. Jo is a siren, which also means undead. Ray is a zombie, which means he's undead... So, really, for non-undead doll characters, I have a very small selection. But potentially, if she had to die and come back, Tacet would be no different as a vampire. She lives by killing others for energy now. She has their energy in her veins already. Drinking blood would be more convenient for her. She'd go on a spree. She would, however, have to kill whoever sired her painfully, because to kill her means they had power over her and there only one person who she won't kill for that.. Unless of course, her father was sired first, and then sired her.

<her head is a vampire head. Maybe that answer was too easy.

V since my answer was too easy, let's hear from someone else. Your doll has been turned into some sort of undead monster. What are they and how do they cope?

 

^ I don't know enough undead monsters so I guess I'll have to stick with vampires too - none of the other monsters I can think of counts as undead and still has a brain. It's Jo who gets bitten, and she can't really deal with the whole "killing to survive" thing. After trying to take it out on herself she sets off to find other vampires, hoping they have better ways to deal with the whole thing (and no, the Twilight hack of "just kill animals instead" doesn't count). Not sure how it ends, I'd have to write that story in order to find out.

< I want to be productive. If I could stop getting dizzy every time I so much as get up, I'd be so happy. I need to get those freaking uniforms done.

v Poof! A sorcerer's apprentice messes up a spell and all of your dolls (for those with more than 10, pick five) are turned into non-humans - fantasy creatures, animals, aliens, monsters, anything as long as it's not human. What do they turn into?

 

^ let's use some other nonhuman characters... Morte would become a merman. He already has the love of water, and the long flowing hair. Later in his storyline, he'd even get to have the trident. Lilith, were she not the mother of demons, would find a short spell as a succubus fun. A break from responsibilities, at very least. Frostbite would greatly enjoy being some kind of elementally allied fairy (like an ice Sprite!) Grim was a little harder, but o can actually picture him as a venomous naga, since the tail is kind of like his whip, and he's already toxic. And Jo could really be a banshee.

< I'm exhausted.. Never again will I pass out on the couch.

V I liked this. Five of your characters become some kind of non-human (or a different kind of non-human, if they're already nonhuman) what do they become?

 

^ Ilari (a vampire) and Emie (his werewolf daughter) switch species. Emie becomes no less murderous, but Ilari's docile personality lets him become domesticated like a pet once he's fully transformed. He makes an excellent guard dog and they get to stay together for the rest of his lifespan. Lorina (a human without a soul) and Mariana (her reincarnation) are fused into one being. Rather than becoming one complete human, they have extra eyes and extra limbs like a fusion gem from Steven Universe. Their combined consciousness is someone entirely new. Emily (a plant doll) becomes a flower. It is a rare blossom of exquisite beauty that blooms for 24 hours before it wilts.

^ Answering my own question I'm going for fantasy creatures: Katie and Lauren turn into Elves. Jo turns into a mermaid. Sven ends up as a centaur, and Timmy is transformed into a satyr. (I kinda sorta want to make those hybrids now. Timmy would be a super cute goat boy ... I think he needs a new, curlier wig and a pair of horns.)

v How would your doll spend a sick day?

 

^ Rot would probably be ignored as he already looks ill all the time. The only one who would notice and help him out is Azure becasue he is telepathic. So he would be tucked into bed and have a glass of juice next to him. He would get the remote on one of the smaller TVs and would veg out on Halloween/Horror movies for the day.

^ I don't understand the question. What does "cut wind" mean?
As for getting blamed, either Timmy or Katie. Katie because she's a scatterbrain and people will assume she messed up, or Timmy because he's youngest and the youngest always get blamed. (According to him, that is.)

v Ever had a doll turn your plans for him/her upside down upon arrival? What happened next? Give us your (their) worst

 

^ Oh, yesss! I received Soom Ender Dream Walker. He supposed to be great Dark Elf, noblesse and calm, with long hairs and elven outfit. And what he became?? Orc! Big brutal orc with claw as a pendant, wearing barbarian clothes, and the worst thing - he was bald! With black tattoo on his head! OMG. He was cool, but - after 6 month I sold him

< Anyway I love all my dolls even if they gone.

v How long do you plan your characters? From idea to buying the doll?

 

^ Anywhere from years to about five minutes. o_o If they come together quickly and easily on paper, then I know I had better order them. Some, though, have been waiting in the wings for a very long time indeed. I just got one girl completely put together properly in doll form (yesterday, in fact!), but as a character she's been hanging out for about 20 years.

< And now more story things click into place. Yey!

v Who is your longest-standing (or oldest) character that you have gotten in doll form?

 

^ Alex, Isis and David were all kind of birthed together for a project about 15 years ago. I honestly can't say who was really first, but I know it was either Alex or Isis. David was technically third. At least I think. I have all three in Doll form.

V Passing down the question because I'd like to know: Who is your longest-standing (or oldest) character that you have gotten in doll form?

 

^ Rina. This girl originated when I was 7-8 in a fanfic I wrote in the little notebook my mom bought me, cause I liked the fish on the cover. She was then adapted into a better version of a similar story When I was 12, and then a fanfic for a different fandom (with the same backstory) once I was 13. I continued that story till I was almost fifteen, and then completely dropped it, because I felt she was too much of a self insert. But I didn't leave her there. I totally reimagined her at fifteen, did it again when I was sixteen-seventeen, and finally, after all that, actually restored her to a more dimensional version of her character from when I was thirteen this year. I've had her for 10-11 years, in some form. Her doll is still getting a faceup.

v pass the question, it's interesting! which of your characters has been changed the most?

 

^ From the beginning? All of them. Well, all the mains for sure - Chris, Lauren, Sven, Katie, Jo ... their very first beginnings were more than 20 years ago (goodness, I'm old) but they've changed to the point where they're barely recognizable. Some turned their backstories upside down the moment I had them home in doll form (looking at you, Lauren!) - others have nothing left in common with their first selves apart from the general outline / role in the story and their name (even though I might change that too in one case, considering the old one was never even supposed to stick and I've finally found the one that "clicks"). Parts of that came from having them home in resin form, getting inspired by their looks and their "chemistry" or lack thereof with the others.
As for their doll forms, Katie was re-shelled and I'm in the process of re-shelling Sven, so those two would have changed the most. Everyone else once I had decided on their doll form and gotten them painted up have stayed fairly unchanged.

v How much of your doll's "look" have you done/made yourself? In other words, where do your dolls fit in on the "unchanged company fullset" to "100% customized" spectrum?

 

^ Mostly the 100% customized end of it. I like doing my own work, I like getting the look just so, I make most of my own clothes, and even most of the company face-ups I have have been tweaked in some way. I think there are just 4 that I haven't touched the face-ups on, but I do mess with eyes and stuff. My Tedros, Volks Mark, and Suzuna are closest to being default--I only changed their eyes from acrylic to glass. With Tedros in particular, he was the Circus Master edition, and why mess with perfection? XD

^I can't say 100% customized because Azure with his full body tattoo is going to stay the same. No that's not true I plan on adding more colors to him since I saw the newer colorful tattooed Nayuta Kenzo. I'm not planning on selling him so there's that. Everyone else is customized, so 100% custom for everyone. Some way more than others.

^ I think I own two heads that have an untouched company faceup - one is my Ringdoll Mona who is an extra head, so she only comes out for photos and when I feel like making Kimi miserable- I like her faceup a lot -, the other is my fullset LE Dollmore Ripley days who I never really bonded with...which is why he's a head and Dr. Strange has his body. All my other fullsets have either been wiped or altered or split and parts sold off, and I don't think I have another default faceup left untouched in my group. And I say untouched because my other K was a fullset, and I left his faceup, but altered it. And glued hair on him.

I would like to think that none of my dolls look like the original version, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking.

V Passing it on sorta: How far away from the companies original vision have your dolls gone? Which is the farthest from how they started out?

 

^ Oof. Within the limits of an all-human, present-day crew, pretty far. Apart from Sven 1.0 (in the process of being re-shelled) none of my dolls even have company faceups, I prefer doing everything myself so I can fix it if I mess it up playing with them. They all started out bald, blank and nude. I'm not an extreme modder though, so it's all very tame compared to what others do.

< I need to find myself a choir. I miss singing ... three choirs in the vicinity, and the one with the most appealing repertory only rehearses once every two weeks. My schedule would like that. Wonder what I'd have to do to play with the cool kids.

v What type of leisure activities would your dolls be caught pursuing? (Extreme couch-potato-ing totally counts.)

 

^ Every leisure moment Dave has is spent with his nose in his music, playing with his synths. Kiyo is either also engaged in music (although he's far more acoustic) or playing video games. Monster Hunter is his current addiction.

< ...and mine. God I love this game. I need to whup this owl's ass though so I can go on to bigger and scarier things. I never managed to best Deviljho in the last game; that's my current quest, make that thing pay for killing me so many times. (It's essentially a ravenously hungry T.rex with dragon breath. Now that is a monster.)

v What are your dolls doing right this second?

 

^ Most of them are hanging out upstairs. I assume that when I am not in the room that they get into shenanigans. Christian is hanging out downstairs, waiting for me to work on his mostly finished sweater. He keeps giving me sharp looks when I walk past. Daphne is cuddling Miss Jia. Because magic monkey-sloths are meant to be cuddled.

< Yesterday was brutally hard. I hope today will be quiet for everyone's sake.

v What is your doll-character likely to do when no one is looking?

 

^ my newest boy would hassle his brother (to be fair, he does it even when I am in the room ), who has the mildest and nicest of temperaments.

< No energy at all. How can this be? I had 5 coffees today.

V Which one of your crew would love to have dreadlocks?

 

^ Radu has dreadlocks already! He still wants me to weave beads and jewels and stones into it, but I like his wig too much to risk wrecking those lovely woolly cables.



< Oog, Cavegirl have hangover. Worth it, though -- three old school death-rock bands for ten dollars, many old friends, many beers.

v Does your doll character go for live music? Or prefer to listen at home? (Or just have no ear for music?)

 

^ my latest boy is used to natural roars so modern live music would see him tearing through the forest in the opposite direction. Though he is happy when someone can reproduce an approximation of nature's sounds.

< I forgot this liquorice includes caffeine. There goes tonight's sleep.

V How many elves do you have in your family?

 

^ Just one, who is tiny, imperious, and bad-tempered. He does please me greatly. @u@

< Wow, I wish I felt like eating because I am pretty sure I would feel better if I did so.

v Are your dolls up for a big, crazy party, or does the very thought of people and rowdiness make them run for it?

 

^ Silver is quite reserved when it comes to people. though she loves to party. It could be her middle name.

^Yes, I did and he came out crazy weird but I still love him.

I've modded several of my dolls in small, somewhat easy ways - eye openings, eye fixing/reinforcing, FtM on several, elf ears to human ears, fixing damage, scarring....recently I did some permanent additive mods for the first time: elf ears added, and a Two-Face from Batman mod.

^ I've done some basic eye-opening on a dreaming doll and a nose job on a Nanuri '06 (I think a lot of people did those!), but my most extensive mod was on a MNF Ruth head. I wanted Xiahou Dun from Dynasty Warriors, and at the time that was my best choice in mini size. I started with the sleeping head (since he has only one eye), opened the other eye partially, sanded the nose a LOT to make it less long and narrow and ski-slopey, and I sanded his cheeks quite a bit to make them less plump and boyish--I wanted a full-grown man.

v Did you have craft weekend? Any handcraft, sewing, wigs, photos?

 

^ I sewed for humans and started two wigs - they're still at the awkward "blank wig cap" stage though, I'd get dolly-murdered in my sleep if I took a pic of that But I'll share pics once the wigs are done.

< Warm. I wish my incomings were home, it's perfect faceup weather ... not sure how long it will hold. In the meantime, I may or may not go swimming in the lake ...

v Got any doll plans? New acquisitions, changes of clothes, re-styling, character remodeling ... ?

 

^ I have a Ringdoll Norman on RD's RGM03 body and I wanted a slimmer body for him, but I also don't want to sell the body, so I am waiting on the new Dollstown 17yr body (which I have been stalking since the early planning stages) for the Norman head, and a Granado Pancho head for the RD. Norman is a book character I love, and Pancho will be as well (Harry Dresden), so I will have to start getting his things together.
I also want to use two of my dolls to do a scene from The Killing Joke for Halloween, so I need to get that done as well.
And the Two-Face mod who will eventually need a body.
Also waiting on an April Story body -- when that finally arrives Gambit will be getting a makeover, and Constantine will have to get a new jacket...
John needs his tattoos worked on, and I really need to redo Alex's faceup (maybe this weekend).

Those are my immediate doll plans. If I wrote out a whole list I'd be here all day.

^ Besides listing the two bodies I want to get rid of, I have Professor Snape's head and eyes on order, I want to redo some face-ups, I think my Ujee might have finally decided to be Albus Severus Potter, so he needs some stuff, I have to wig-shop for Professor Snape, I need to finish blushing my Miss Jia, I need to paint a QT Pet for @DragonMouse , and I owe his Shiwoo girl a make-over. *deep breath* Aaaand Christian is sitting here staring at me because he's wearing a 3/4 finished sweater, Audrey needs her clothes and fidget-jewelry, and several people need pants and shirts.

v What's the biggest thing on your to-do list that keeps getting put to the side?

 

^Sew the other 7 vests I cut out, make Pyry his arctic fox ears, get the R3S1N8 Kpop group dressed and take some photos.That is more than one thing but I need to do them all soon.

< Life keeps interfering with my dolly plans.

v Are heads or Bodies or full dolls next for you?

 

^ Bodies incoming, heads to be ordered. I need to keep an eye on available shelf space, I'll need to have some heads sharing bodies or I won't be able to store them all in the cabinet any more. Both my recently arrived IOS body and both AprilStory incomings will (have to) share. I'm not sure about Granado's Michael, but I'll definitely get a normal skin RD Norman and maaaaybe the Granado Pancho I've been eyeing for ages. And a bunch more DiMlings once they open sales again, they said they'd have one more order period and I missed out on Gayane and Amelie.

< There's an exhibition / con kind of thing soon, we're going to have a booth and my new outfit is done. Now I don't know what to do with myself. Whenever I grab my dolls to make something for them, I catch myself thinking "but I need to prepare for the Sci-Fi days!" until my brain catches up and says "nope, all done". This is a complete first.
