< I'm being productive today when it's rainy, that doesn't usually happen.

v Jewelry question do any of your dolls wear rings?

 

^ Rings, I wish. I've seen lovely ones but I've never been able to get any. Someday though I'll need one for Effie! Necklaces though, all the dang time. Oak has her backstory-backstory-backstory necklace, as well as some pearl ones, and Effie too has some pearl necklaces (what self-respecting 40s aspiring-housewife-not-really doesn't). Jewelry is hard for me because I'm SO good at losing things, and all the tiny pretty things love to go missing!

< I'm starting to think I might regret my D.I.M. purchase...I got a Love girl when there are SO many more beautiful Happy girls...but it's too late now! I'm sure I'll be happy with her when she gets here. I'm so back and forth over it all the time!

v Have you ever regret a doll purchase either before they arrived, or after they did? How did you reconcile this?

 

^ Not really ... a while ago I caught myself thinking I shouldn't have ordered the three that still aren't home (because more cash for more DiMlings!), but the feeling didn't hold. I've had dolls not work out for my plans with them, but I always found something else to do with them. I only ever regretted not going for Elfdoll Vivien while I had the chance - I'd just got RealSkin Eun-A when Vivien and a normal skin Eun-A came back in stock, they had literally just shipped mine (I would have preferred normal skin). Can't be helped now. I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you got your girl once she's home. (Plus, I read DiM will have another sale in a while, after people had the chance to save up some. )

v If you could dollify one character from the last movie/TV show you watched, who would it be?

 

^ Oh cripes, I guess the last TV show I watched that wasn't Olympics was My Little Pony. Mmm. I already have Twilight Sparkle dollified, so I'd say Rarity or Luna. Probably Luna.

< I will be so glad when this latest round of doctors-go-round is finished and we can all get on with our merry lives.

v How about books? If you could dollify one character from the last book you read, who would it be?

 

^ I think the last book I read was one of the Songs of Ice and Fire series. I would actually love a Denearys Targarean doll. She would make a gorgeous doll.

< Only one more hour of work after working 6 days and then I get 2 days off. Hallelujah!

v Do any of your dolls have jobs? What kind of job do they have?

 

^ I don't really. They stay dressed for fall and winter most of the time.

V Have you ever had doll inspiration hit you and you just have to do it? Whether it was making a new charcter/doll or a certain photoshoot, props or an outfit (or anything else)? Share!

 

^ I once dreamed I had a zaoll luv and I remember her hair colour perfectly, and I've been obssessed with getting a zaoll with this exact shade ever since. It might take a while though!

< I really want to order a new doll soon, but I also really need to complete the ones I have at home!

v how do you get your inspiration/ ideas for your doll's look (faceup, eyes, etc.)?

 

^ I actually just kind of let them "pick". I'll find a sculpt that I really like and order it, then when I'm waiting for them to arrive they kind of develop their own name, personality, and style. Sometimes I'll have one thing I want to implement (like I wanted Luca to be blonde and I wanted Gabriel to have freckled/"real" skin) but the rest the "choose" for themselves. Luca even decided that he wanted to have blue hair rather than blonde and we compromised and he now has blonde and blue hair.

v do your friends/co-workers know about your hobby? What do they think about it?

 

^ Two of my friends know but I haven't really told anyone else because I see no reason too. One of the friends I told had already heard about them and knows which one they want to begin the hobby with and the other friend I told got into the hobby too although she prefers Pullips and fashion dolls.

< being sick + trying to study = not a good match.

v Have you ever had a doll that completely changed over time? (Style, faceup etc).

 

^ yep, just this morning in fact. . Luckily I am not 100% happy with the head offered with the body, so my purse ain't fighting to get out of the room.

< Why did I buy this mechanical kit?

V If you had to get a clockwork device for one of your crew, what would it be?

 

^ Uhhhhhhhhhh. I, uh. I don't know?

< Note to self: if you want to have your stomach be on good terms with you, perhaps you should not consume eight shots of espresso in a given day. (It is worth noting that I will probably completely ignore this tomorrow.)

v Because espresso: got any caffeine junkies in your crew? What's their intake of choice?

 

^ Lavaiou will have coffee on occasion, but he doesn't really need it to function; Leopold doesn't care what it is so long as it has caffeine, though he does like when he can have the chance to sit down to a nice cup of cream loaded with a little coffee and relax; Kle really isn't one for caffeine(he likes tea and actually can't stand the taste of coffee), unfortunately for him the kinds of tea he likes the taste of all have lots of lovely caffeine; otherwise I think Giorges is my biggest coffee drinker, he would drink more of it but feels guilty when the ship is running low on stock and tries to get the crew to have some with him so it feels more like they're getting a fair share of supplies, but Bernard is usually the only one who regularly takes him up on that...

< Speaking of caffeine, I could use some right now...

v Sort of flipping the question: What is your doll(character)'s drink of choice that isn't caffeinated or alcoholic? What would they drink with breakfast or lunch or whatever mundane meal they enjoy?

 

^ Luca likes water with a fresh squeeze of lime. He keeps lime juice in the house so he can drink it at home too. Casey likes anything fizzy, but his favorite is root beer and he can't stand Dr. Pepper. On the flip side, Gabriel likes anything fizzy, but his favorite is Dr. Pepper and he thinks Root Beer is vile.

v If your dolls could live anywhere in the world, where would they want to live?

 

^ Katie loves Ireland (well, she is half Irish, but she's the only one who would seriously consider moving there). Some would definitely prefer something a bit further south (and warmer).

< I cannot believe I have this much resin on order. This is what discounts do to my wallet. (That, and half of the total has been on order for a bunch of months.)

v What's the most doll stuff you ever had on order at the same time?

 

^ A bunch of clothes and shoes.

< I want to go home and work on my dolls more.

v What company (if any) do you have the most dolls from?

 

^ Too slow, Ringdoll with 5 heads and 5 bodies (but it's a long story) followed closely by Dollshe 2 bodies and 7 heads with a full doll and a body on order.
^^5 heads and one whole doll and a body, that was earlier this year some of them have come in. I think I went a little crazy as retail therapy was my only recourse to the stress of sending my granddaughter off to college.
< Elmer Fudd is singing to me instead of "kill the wrabbit" he is singing "kill the kitty". This kitten my granddaughter left behind is in serious in need of discipline.
v Do you have bad dolly kids?

 

^ I'm going to answer this in terms of actual resin rather than in character-terms. My Elfdoll K is my current problem child--I hate his body, he doesn't pose at all, and he's such a weird size that I have to spend too much time drafting patterns for him, and he looks out-of-scale no matter who he's next to. My MNF is a close second--I hate his posing, he makes me crazy with his weird popping and flopping and I HATE MAGNET HANDS. Give me s-hooks any day of the week. *sigh*

< Speaking of problem children: First day of homeschooling for the year is a marginal success. Yay!

v What's a doll thing you really like but probably won't ever get?

 

^ All the resin pets. I want a resin menagerie, but I have neither the spare cash nor the space to keep them all. The one Iple dog I have keeps getting into every picture already.

^ SD Centaurs. Prohibitively expensive, no character to attribute to them, but my goodness they're so beautiful.

v Is there any doll you are lusting after at the moment?

 

^ captain hook ticking crocodile's fantasy head. I want that for one of my characters in the worst way. Grim would love the extra fangs! Oh! Or doll chateau Zenobia, but I've been lusting after her for over a year, so that's old news...

V how do you decide if a doll you're lusting after gets to come home?

 

^ If I actually need it (head for body I have, or body for head I have), or if I can wait a few days, or even weeks and still want it.
Then I have to have the money. If all those things happen, I buy the doll. Or doll parts.

V Repeating a question because coffee: Is there any doll you are lusting after at the moment?

 

^ a Venitu. I love him so much But he'll probably never make it home. I keep getting distracted by other dolls I love. Just the day after I decided to focus on the three I already have and save money for either a Venitu or a Dollshe guy, I bought a new doll head that I now need a body for.

< speaking of, I'm trying to decide whether a Dollstown/Impledoll hybrid would be pretty.

v What is your all-time favorite company? Why?

 

^ My collection says "Iple" - my current wish list says "lol no idea". I really love Iple's faces and their girl bodies, but I have one or more of each of their larger girl bodies and while I do like/love some guys, the guy bodies don't work for various reasons. And since they don't sell heads separately, I'm afraid my Iple days are over for the time being.

< Hah. I only have one more lesson to teach this week, which means exactly zero prep. Seminar tomorrow, class trip on Thursday (and I'm not even in charge, just tagging along as support and because I'm interested in the museum they're visiting), one single lesson on Friday, and one of my sweetest classes too.

v Is there anything you're waiting for at the moment? Anything doll related counts.

 

^ I'm waiting for Audrey's eyes and wig to arrive from Alice's Collections. I am also counting as "waiting" for some brilliant budget idea to strike so I can afford to get my dream guy. ._.; All other things are on hold.

^ A Granado Pancho head and April Story Classy doll body. Which I ordered in the wrong color (boo), and they changed to the right color for me (yay!), but now my wait is going to be longer (boo).

Next week I plan on ordering the DT 17 boy body....so I also count that already.

V Are your dolls your own original characters, someone else's characters, or no characters? Or a mix of all of them?

 

^ My most recent body acquisition was from Dollzone... So 5 months, lol. Dollzone has horrible wait times.

< Should I get bodies for my floating heads, wigs for my MSDs, an airbrush to blush my FL head to DZ normal pink?? Decisions, decisions...

v How do you prioritize your dolly needs?

 

^ Pretty simply -- "what can I afford?" I need to get Jes more clothes, but finding the look I want is proving impossible...

< I am so tired and it's only going to get worse from here on out.

v How do you earn your doll money?

 

^ to earn doll money I work in a little shop that sells chalk paint and home decor trinkets. Super boss, lots of tourists.

v If money was no issue, what accessory or prop would you buy, for which doll, and why?

 

^A 1/3 scale recreation of grim's pirate ship. The whole, glorious boat. It would be huge.

V what's one doll or doll-related item you want buy will never have?

 

^ 1:3 motorcycle! Harley makes one that's just perfect for foxy 65cm dudes (or, they used to, anyway). But it is goddam huge, and I live in a 1-bedroom apartment, so doll vehicles are not something that will be parking here. Also a 1:3 bed. Just not gonna happen.

< One type of hologram-glitter nail polish has a clear base that dries normally right away; the other type of hologram-glitter nail polish has a clear base that won't dry for love nor money and keeps a weird sticky finish and I've lost patience with it. Now it's getting on my keyboard. Punchline: They are both the same brand of nail polish. : Come ON, chemistry! Get it together!!

v Any of your dolls wear nailpolish? If not colored nailpolish, do any of them have natural-painted nails?

 

^ No manicures amongst my crew. It's an almost universal belief that the upkeep would be much too difficult with all the physical stuff they do -- although Katen would probably go for painted nails. He doesn't do much that would mess up a good manicure.

< @JennyNemesis -- I seriously gave up on doing my own nails. I do the acrylic thing these days (although it's just an overlay, none of the long tip business) because I got sooooooo sick of breaking nails at work. The upkeep is a pain in the ass but the durability is worth it.

v Got any nonhumans amongst your doll crew? Tell us about them, if so!

 

^ Samir is a djinni, he's got some nice magic powers and great looks out of it, but he mostly is a chill guy and doesn't feel the need to use them. Daphne is a half-gnome/half-brownie who tries very hard to be helpful, but mainly is just adorable. Sparklebutt is a dark elf, and has a rotten attitude about the fact that toddlers are taller than him. Magoichi is a robot, Iris is a baby djinni, and Twilight is actually a alicorn in human guise. I think that covers it.

^ I've got some sassy boys, but no drama queens.

v What was your first doll?

 

^ The one in my avatar, Iple Stella. I knew I wanted SD size because I imagined sewing would be easier for SDs than MSDs, and when she was released it was pretty much love at first sight. Hard to believe she's turning 4 already!

< If people could just reply to their e-mails, I'd be so happy. I would rather like to know what's going on tomorrow work-wise, and whether or not I need to prepare anything. Because, y'know, tomorrow. It's 9pm where I am.

v How long have you been in the hobby? What got you started?

 

^ Nine and a half years (ten as of Feb 2017, good lord). I have a dear friend who'd been wanting one of these dolls for forever and then some and as it would happen a perfect storm of events involving a well-timed sale and a tax refund led to me getting my first a couple months after she introduced me to them.

< I. Am. So. Tired. I want to go fall on my face but I need to eat.

v What's your biggest obstacle to spending time working on/with your dolls?

 

^ Life! I have a full-time job, so 8-5, M-F I'm at work. At home I have any number of things I might have to be doing, including giving attention to needy cats. Then there's friends and family to consider. Not to mention other hobbies, like art, comics, reading, television (is that a hobby??). And don't forget one of the biggest, most horrible and uncontrollable things - the weather. Living in STL is kind of like living in hell....but cheaper. Our weather is death. It's always too humid, too cold, too wet, too everything to be doing any weather-dependent doll activities.

Dear god how do I ever find time for dolls D:

> Sewer backed up, boss at meetings for three days straight, someone took all the coffee and my co-worker is literally standing in the hallway doing nothing. It's a great day to be at work.

V Do your dolls have theme-songs? Or at least songs that remind you of them? What are they?

 

^ there's a song called "Raining" by Art of Dying that reminds me of Morte. And St Veronika by Billy Talent is Azrael's origin... There's also a song called Cut Up Angels by the Used that reminds me of Grim. Oh! And End of the Dream by Evanescence is another song that inspired a story arc with Rina. My immortal (the origin version, cause I love the less edited vocals) by evanescence is another one that inspired an arc between Rina and Balik. Rina also has an arc that was inspired by Lithium by evanescence... I'm totally not obsessed with Amy Lee... I based a character off of Vermillion by Slipknot too.

^ A new film version of Humperdinck's children's opera "Hänsel und Gretel". Lauren is Hänsel, Chris is Gretel, Carlos is the father.

v Well I sort of cheated, my dolls are actors/opera singers. Would your doll(s) want to be in a show / movie / stage play etc?

 

^ I'll ignore the ones who are musicians, actors, and pre-existing characters. :3 Audrey would love very much to be in a stage play, but she has a very hard time getting through auditions.

v To flip the question: do you have a doll who shuns the spotlight, who finds the mere idea of someone noticing them absolutely terrifying?

 

^One character for sure - Azure, he is from another planet but what he is afraid of is everyone finding out he is a telepath. He is mute (vocal cords missing) but can hear just fine and uses sign language. He is tattooed from head to toe to hide the fact that he is also a cyborg. The tattoos are a real attention-getter. Therefore he spends most of his time either in the house or out in the wilderness.

^ Well, Charlotte is a ghost stuck in limbo who controls zombies with her emotions... so yeah, that :P

v Which of your doll's characters would spend their entire paycheck on frivolities? Which would carefully plan out each expense and stash the extra away for rainy days?

 

^ Well currently I can only answer one part and it is for Clover. Since she gets a monthly allowance to pay for her living expenses her part time job pycheck goes to video games. All of her paycheck quickly disappeares because of her hobbies.

^ she doesn't have a significant other

v can you imagine one of your family members (or friends/colleagues/students. .) made into a doll? Who'd you pick and why, which doll would you use?

 

^ I'd pick my son to be made into a doll. He's really cute! XD I think I'd probably want a 55-60cm boy, probably tan skin, and probably a Dreaming Doll sculpt, maybe one of the girls with the teeth, since my kid has such a cute smile with little bunny teeth (to quote a four-year-old I used to babysit). I'd want one of him, because he's about to be a proper teenager, and won't be cute much longer.

v What is a doll sculpt that always makes you smile, even if you don't own them or have no plans to have one?

 

^ Iplehouse storm, his sculpt is gorgeous and just makes me smile everytime i see him. Unfortunately I will probably never get him since I can never find a character that fits him....

< ghaa!! Why isn't my drivers license here yet? I need it for orientation.

v what sculpt was your very first doll?

 

^ A Dollzone Fei. Quirky little mini. That was back when I thought minis were all I was going to get. Seven 1/3 dolls later...

v Because the school year is about to start and I am not ready: got any dolls in school right now? What level of education?

 

^ my two minifees are in grade 10-11 (not 100% decided on their age. Still working on them!)

v what's the first doll you fell in love with vs the first doll you bought

 

^ The first doll I fell in love with was either Volks Tohya or Isao--I saw them at the same time in Volks News flyers that were included in a off-topic order, and I fell HARD for them both. The first doll head I bought, several months before my first whole doll, was a Volks Isao. I had every intention of getting him a body in short order, but at that point in time Volks bodies were going for much more than whole dolls at that point! But still, the first doll I fell in live with was the first face home.

< I am so tired of having poison ivy! Of course, if I'd stay inside...

v If you had a grail doll, a lovely, hard-to-get grail, did you ever bring them home, or is the hunt still on?

 

^ I did have a grail doll: a Migidoll Ryu on an SD17 body, and I have him now!! The stars aligned last year around my birthday, so I snagged him and adore him! He still needs some clothes that really fit him - I mostly have clothes that are either a little too small or too big - but we're getting there.

< Saving saving saving is so hard when there's so many shiny things! I should sew instead of pine after all these things...

V What is your doll's favorite kind of weather? And how do they like to enjoy it?

 

^ Ebony is a summer sports kind of guy, so he spends as much time outside as possible, maintaining his sculpted physique and oggling lightly dressed passers by.

< I went to a friends house this weekend and discovered his girlfriend has bjds!

v Which of your dolly characters likes/liked school the most?

 

^ Oh that is so hard. Almost all of my characters enjoyed their schooling, all for different reasons, but I think Emmy would've been the one to look forward to it the most. She loves knowledge, reading, where in her world true literacy is rare she is a big fan of hunting down as many books as she can find, wherever she can find them, and learning stories and tales from other cultures. The idea of learning new things excites her.

< School, work, school, work, when do I get time to myself! I want to finish Effie's wig so bad, I just don't have time. I have the supplies, I have the motivation...I just don't have the time slot in my days. Whine whine complain whine. But...I can't wait for my new dollies to get here. ^_^ Cass, come home, come on SOOM!

v Which of your doll characters HATED/HATES school the most? For what reason?

 

^ Katie. She did okayish, but always had trouble sticking to her school work and would rather play outside (or practise the violin) ... she has trouble focusing on stuff she's not interested in, so naturally school was pretty much hell.

< Oh, certain doll company that must not be named. How about if someone's order hasn't been paid off in half a frickin year you drop them a line instead of, you know, just sitting on the doll box and not shipping them? What if I told you the supposedly missing payment has been sitting in your bank account for eight months now?

v What was your biggest "WTF" moment in the hobby?

 

^ Learning that the Dragondoll TangYao I had just purchased second hand at a doll meet came with 'option man-bits' and the interlude of puzzlement while the lady dug through her stuff to find them and then hand them to me in a little zip-lock baggy. I think my face went tomato red when I realized what they were and I had to double-check inside his underwear (the only thing he was wearing) that yes, he did indeed have a little magnetic wee. It was hilarious. XD

< Oh, my adorable Magnus, the wonderful doll that got me through work today by sitting oh so cutely on my scanner whilst cuddling an Umbreon plush, I owe him a photoshoot but have no idea when next I will have time in adequate lighting to do so ;-;

v Who is your biggest day brightener?

I firmly believe everyone should own a Pong of some kind.
