Modification The plastic surgeon strikes again!

Last May I completed a small scale nose bridge enlargement on Pihla, and I was satisfied with it for a moment. After a while though, other things started bugging me. First it was the way her cheeks puff out kind of awkwardly at certain angles, then it was how her lips look like in the side profile and the final nail in the coffin was that I simply felt like she needs even more nose.
I procrastinated as long as I could because I really liked the face up I'd given her- but I also didn't play with her at all during that time because the tiny things just bugged me. Fast forward to last weekend when I was forced to take a break from doing face ups because of the weather, so I took that as my sign to get my gloves on and my plastic surgery tools out.

Spoiler: Here's the before-any-work-side-profile and the mock up I made for this second surgery a couple months ago

First I roughly filed away some of the chub from her cheeks and shaped her upper lip a bit just to get started.

Next I added some Milliput superfine to her nose and lower lip and shaped that as close to what I wanted as I could.

I let the Milliput harden overnight and got to sanding. I shaved more off from her cheeks and tidied up the bumps on the Milliput. Again it seems that I have to do at least one more pass with the Milliput to get everything nice and smooth, but it's much better than last time! The nose doesn't strike me as being crooked like it was last time, and I am really happy with how her side profile is shaping up to be.


Today I didn't have the time to work on Pihla's face, as the weather was perfect for working on face ups, but I did make another mock up! Last night when I was sanding away, I got the idea to open Pihla's eyes some, up to about where her sculpted upper eyelids end. So I had to test out that vision- and I might just go ahead and do it!

It's looking like another humid and cold day tomorrow, which means no face ups but perhaps yes sculpting

 

Oh I'm definitely also nervous every time I start a new modding project! But luckily Milliput comes off pretty easily when it hasn't cured yet, and if it cures you can just sand it down. And the nerves do ease up a bit once you get started ^^

I'm not sure I can explain this in a way that makes sense but, I find the angle where the cheek is the most prominent and mark the "edge" of the visible area. Then I rotate the head in all kinds of directions to find and mark the "borders" of the area I want to sand, ending up with a circle-ish shape with the highest point of the cheek marked somewhere inside said shape. Actually removing the fullness I kind of just went ham with a coarse file, lol. I kept rotating the head and filing at different angles to make sure I'm not just making a random flat surface onto the cheek. Sanding off the most on and around the marked high point and then kind of evening it out towards the edges of the marked area.

No progress to post for now. Yesterday the weather was perfect for face ups after all so I was busy with those, and today I was just too lazy to work on the mod
