This is my Narae Tisa welcoming Evie way back when, my Classic Pinky White Narae is yellowed over time, which is kind of sad, but I love her dearly so she ain't going no where. I have more older pics on my Flickr that I just can't delete, brings so many memories back.

 

How about a Dark elf Soo from 2007 and and an elf Soony (Fairyland) from 2014?

Another Oldie - Obitsu Haruka. I had bought this doll second hand years ago and only used her body for another head. I have recently cleaned and reactivated her head with a fres face-up.

Yvie is an old F-04 in oldskin, so she's pre-2003. Got her as a junk head so I'm not sure exactly what year she's from



And Hamlet is a 2004 original release Michele. He's still got his original faceup and came to me with his complete, unopened fullset! His eyes are still hot glued in.

@saraquill I love how these old photos can take us back to the time and the place.

 

I absolutely adore this sculpt. She was in my wishlist for a long time, but I just gave up, hahaha. Also, I just have one big doll (SDGr) and I'm more confortable with the mini size. Anyway, I'm always fascinated with this doll.

She's gorgeous I've never seen an old F-04 this pretty!!! Congratulations.



I'm a big fan of the big-head big-eye thing, my first grail doll was a DOD Leya, but I got her with the "mature" body and I regret that... maybe some day I'll be able to change it.

Where on Earth did you find an F12?! She's been on my wishlist for years and years! YJ, maybe, or Mandarake?

 

@kcurry9 on eBay! And then it turned out the poor girl was modded to hell and back (someone sanded her lips!) so my darling faceup artist is currently in the process of restoring her.

 

I would love to see her when she's finished! Was she listed as an F12, or did you just recognize her (if, so, kudos to you, well spotted)?

 

She was just listed as old Volks but thankfully with pics of her head bald and with the engraving!

 

Reviving this thread with my dear Oldskin SD10 Mimi. Saw her on Dollyteria for a low price and was instantly compelled to bring her home. She's the grand old dame of my BJD collection and currently sits in a wooden rocking chair my late granddad made

I love your Shoyo! She's is so perfectly adorable.

I've got my LE Lavender Fantasia from Impldoll in 2010. Her poor fantasy parts are probably a different color since they've been stored separately from the doll.



I've also got a PukiPuki Cupid 3 from the original release in late 2010 I believe.

 

Do old sculpt heads on new bodies count?
Well, technically, I think this is Minoruworld Jr. Leila on her original body (before Blue Fairy purchased the company). Not sure how old she is, but I know she's old - her head cap is held in place with a loop of elastic. I love that little round ball of a head.

I really love this DF-H Xiao Chan (girl) body for her.

 

All of my dolls were sculpted in 2011 or earlier. I'm not sure if Hina counts because she was recently made, but all my boys definitely all do

@nyaaain ahhh Migidoll Ryu and Miho will always be a massive nostalgia hit for me because they were my introduction into this hobby in 2008. The first doll I saw (Ryu) and the first doll I owned (Miho). I am still obsessed! (I have a blank Miho in a drawer waiting for a body and faceup)

 

Ahh! I'm so jealous of the old CP Delfs.

 

I suppose I have a few dolls that could fit here. My very first doll is an Abio Angel Er, if anyone even remembers that company. xD They disappeared shortly after I joined the hobby in 2008, but my boy was made in 2006 I believe. Still has his company faceup, though it's a bit worse for wear now. He just has the sweetest face I've ever seen and I'm still totally smitten with him.



Also haven't seen a single Dollzone Yuu in this thread yet and I need to fix that. My 'twins' are from 2008 and 2009 on the old bodies and still make my swoon every time I look over at them~



My Elfdoll Red is pretty old as well. He's on the old super short body with the pancake hands and the delicious homme skin that matches nothing. xD I always loved Red's wide smile the most. ♥



Lastly, how about an old Puki Puki Piki? This tiny little baby is from the Pink Baby fullset, and I have her sleepy face as well as all the extras she came with (hands, boots, ears, etc). She rarely wears her fullset, but she was a gift from my best friend and I love her. I'm not big on tinies (heh), but I love the few that I have.

 

Both of my dolls are oldies, Feather is from 2011, and I'm actually not sure how old Snow is but she's at least 12 years as I bought her in 2011, as well! Feather is a CP Delf Lishe, Snow is a CP Delf Lu-Wen.

Dropping a couple into this thread (though nearly all mine can be classified as old ), here's a very random mix of sculpts and faceup styles

Demongarden Beau from 2008, bought via Happyhouse, anyone remember them?


My OE Luwen Delf, from 2007, bought from Luts during that period when they decided to stop using PayPal and the bank transfer cost me £25 . Havent times changed this is the original faceup I did when I first got him which has since been wiped.


My Soom Aphan bought as floating head a couple of years ago as I loved the sculpt too much to pass up on the opportunity to buy. Finally has a body and a faceup

And my first yo size, 2007 again, FantasyDoll Koli (came with elf ears and wings... I was sold! )

 

I guess mine are oldschool enough. I bought my dolls in 2010-2012, but I think their sculpts have existed since the mid-2000s.

My big-headed couple, Syr (Crobidoll Lance girl) and Justinian (Dollstown Mui). They're both on Dollstown 15yr bodies, which I adore and will never upgrade, so they're stuck with single joints. They have solidly 9-10" (23cm-ish) heads and 16/8mm eyes.

Edited to add... Syr has a faceup by asainemuri/ShallowSleep Aesthetics, which I commissioned in 2010 (the original commission pic is still on their DeviantArt). It's a little scuffed -- I play with my dolls a lot -- but still going strong in its old age. ShallowSleep specialized in this bold, "scene" faceup style -- definitely oldschool, but I love it a lot!




And Halcyon (Dollstown Rhea) who has a 8-9" head and also wears 16/8mm eyes. She's also on an old but double-jointed body - Ariadoll 14yr girl.

 

I do not own the below dolls anymore, but for the sake of oldschool posterity, here are photos I took of them back in my newbie days (2009-2010).

Volks SD13 Kohya, with a custom faceup by Docshul (KR). I think he's wearing a Dollheart outfit.



Volks MSD F-06, or mini Anais/Tae. Custom faceup that I commissioned from ShallowSleep Aesthetics.


Dream of Doll Lahoo. I did not buy him as a fullset, but managed to find his original clothes through the secondhand market.

 

These older dolls are all so wonderful, they have so much personality! Very heart-warming to see your collections.

Thank you Akai Okami for sharing photos of your Dollzone Yuu twins. That's a sculpt that you just never see anymore. I remember that he was a popular boy back in the day.

I'm not quite sure if Unoas can really be considered old school (as they are not discontinued and still seem so modern!) but I am fairly sure Asa's faceplate is from the earlier times given the buttery colour - she is on my Shoyo's old Dollzone body that matches perfectly.

 

Old school is old school, baby. And Unoas are definitely old school, lol - but still beautiful.

As far as this thread goes, I realize now that I believe I have only one doll sculpt in all my 1/3 collection who was made after 2015, which is ten years ago soon. Things have changed a lot even since then. I started collecting in 2010 and buying second hand got plenty of oldies that had lost their zazz so to speak, whom I cherish forever

 

Tenukihandcrafts, lovely to see your old-school dolls. I totally agree with you, I also prefer the older sculpts.

But, I gotta tell you, you are killing me with your Elfdoll Special K! OMG! How I love that sculpt! It's not often that I see one on the forum anymore. So, it makes me ridiculously happy that someone still has one and appreciates him. He really was "special".

@Rabbit-moon Your Special K is so handsome! We don’t see him around much but he is still one of my favorite sculpts.I guess it’s up to us to spam out the Special K love.

 

Not sure how much my Sweet Dreams Kaede counts (she was released in 2007) but she's my oldest doll and she still has her company faceup. I believe that I color-corrected this photo but in real life her resin has reached a healthy buttery tone. She might be one of my favorite dolls in my collection (don't tell the others)! Definitely hoping to add more old-school looking dolls to my collection in the coming years as I've really started to appreciate that aesthetic even more recently.

I don't know if Maskcats count as old school since the company is recent and they've got a more semi-realistic sculpting style, but the proportions are definitely there (my Mina has an almost 23cm noggin at 57cm in height) I will forever love this style of doll. They have that special sweetness that more recent dolls don't have.

 

I have a Little Monica Yuria and she has the old skool vibe which I love, her face seems to be a mashup of Switch and Volks and she is adorable. Also her knees are single jointed... so definitely old skool

Love to see this thread being revived! I have so many old school BJDs and very few photos of any of them. I'm working on it; photography really isn't my forte. Here are two of my hybrid girls: a Notdoll Belladonna on Dream of Doll body and Minawadou Saiki on Angel of Dream body.

 

I am enjoying every single one of these treasures so much, thank you all for sharing.
