Re Doc clothes - Dunno. probably depends on the item and whether it will look ok loose on Narae. And slacks won;t work - Narae's legs are longer.

Narae boys are named Narin and they have a variety of faceplates (partially closed eyes 1/3 and 2/3, Dragonfly, Heartbreak, Open Eye, Classic). I really don't remember ever seeing a Narae head on a Narin though (only the opposite which makes sort of an older looking girl).

This is super helpful, especially knowing that you can swap out the heads on the smaller Naraes and Narins, which I was wondering (I think, though I'm not sure, you can actually order them that way? At least, Classic Narin is a drop-down option if you order a Narae doll, which made me happy because I was already considering it).

You have to talk to Dollyholic about doing a special head/body combination. I know it is possibe to order a Narae with a Narin head, but I am not sure how/where that would be specified. Ask member Dollyholic.

A bit more info:

Narin has not been selling via their web site since last June, so Dollfair is their sales site.

Regarding the UV additive: UV damage means damage from UV rays of the sun. Resin can also be damaged by heat and other kinds of environmental actions such as oxidation. We advise you protect your dolls as usual from sun and heat. So for instance, if you put your doll in a sunny window she might still yellow from the heat of the sun.

I have a Narin Dragonfly head on a 43 narae body.
That's my girl that Stella Maris painted above.

Ive been calling her new girl or NG because I don't have a name yet. I should call her Angie or Angelina (NG/Angie lol, sad yes)

 

You can swap the 43cm heads back and forth, but not the 60cm heads. The widths don't work, and there will be some gapping or unattractive bits sticking out.

Lots of people order a girl head and boy body, or boy head on a girl body with the 43cm dolls. We have it so you can make any kind of 43cm combination right on the web site when you order.

If you're going to use a mixed sex head and body, then you can also put it in your facepainting instructions that you want your Narin head painted like a girl.. or your Narae face painted more like a boy. In fact, on the new Narin Team page there is a girl facepainting using a Narin boy faceplate. Hey, it's nearly 2008.

Catrina, so the Golden Beige now is the same as the Old Tanning?

 

Try some Tyler Matt clothes. I have seen Narin in a Matt suit, and Narae in a great Matt winter jacket.

Also Softly She Walks sells Narin clothes at Dollfair (though the female clothes are now sold through her own website).

It isn't the same, but today after seeing the "new tan" color I can say with confidence if you have an old tan and wanted to purchase a new faceplate the golden beige would be a better choice, the difference is acceptable, as you can see with New Girl on Zamora's body. That said resin colors vary from batch to batch, I'm having a hard time matching a BW LuWen head. And it's not like he's "old"

Also one more question, is there any news that the Old Tanning will become available again? The New Tanning is a bit grayer than the Old Tanning. I read somewhere (I think in the Discussion for Naraes) that Catrina is trying to get that fixed.

 

You know I saw one of those "New Tan" girls and she wasn't grey at all, she was just lovely. I went to a meetup today in case you were wondering!

 

Quick Question Guys - Does anyone know if you can put a Narin Faceplate on a Unoa Boy Body? How would the resin match be? Would it fit right?

Unoa and Narae faceplates do not fit each other except taped on, as far as I know. Not sure about resin match either. There is a thread somewhere where someone taped a Unoa face on a Narae - maybe you could find that. Try a titles search of Minis discussion for: Unoa Narae

I think the pinky white Narin matches pretty well with the Unoa (better if it has yellowed a bit, I think). Yes, Carolyn is correct. They only fit if you tape them on which isn't a bad option if you don't mind a fit that isn't exact.

 

And Oracle12 - do you know that you can only buy complete heads for Narin? Narin/Narae faceplates are not sold separately.

I saw the same new tanning gal as Stella Maris. She wasn't grey at all. She was a lovely colour. And not so very different than the original. *shrug*

 

I really like these dolls but how bad is the yellowing for the pinky white? I want to enjoy the doll/ take her out side and not keep her stuck at home. Also would the yellowing rate be different for a golden beige doll?

I don't think you'll be able to find an answer about the yellowing rate of the current Narae French resin with the UV additive. I think the UV additive was just added in mid 2007?

I know that with the previous French resin the yellowing could be very noticeable and uneven for people who did photoshoots outside (look for posts by Denaliwind containing yellow*). And artificial light and heat can also cause yellowing. The parts of the body hidden by clothing the most will yellow the least.

The color that either yellows least or hides it best has traditionally been tanning, but I don't think the new shade of tan has really been around long enough to see yellowing, especially since most people keep their French resins indoor and out of bright light.

I don't think golden beige would be a good choice for a doll that will go outdoors - the golden beige is already yellowish. But again, I have no information on golden beige with the UV additive + sun.

I'm sure Dollyholic will have a better answer.

I have a BC colored elf (she has what I call "tan lines" from her previous owner) so I know how yellowing works... But I guess I should wait to see what happens in time then get one.

I have a problem with my narae 43cm pinky white doll. It's my first bjd doll and I'm totally lost. I bought the head and I don't know where to buy a body that can fit her :S I wanna kill my myself for not having bought narae with the body. Dollfair doesn't sell just bodies so I have to find one that could be compatible. Maybe Minifee ( http://dollfairyland.com/shop/step1.php?number=80 ) or Unoa could fit narae head? Now I have my narae with a pullip body and it looks weird xDD

Sorry if this sounds a stupid question, but how do you get the heads open on Narae?

I just got my first one and I need to put her eyes in - I don't want to break her!

 

I put my left thumb nail in the seam at the top of the head and then two fingers from my right hand on the temples and then pull the head forward. Kinda cryptic but hope this helps. Congratulations on your Narae. They are a work of beauty!

Quick question (and sorry if this is the wrong thread): has anyone had any luck buying clothes from dollmore? (choosing dollmore so I can order shoes along with the dress to make one delivery)

I'm looking specifically for a dress but just dont know what doll type to look under. I'm thinking MSD size because I just looked at a dress and the doll was 43cm. Let me know what y'all think.

 

MSD outfits from Dollmore won't fit my Narae. They're too big. You should look at the outfits for Narsha, but Dollmore haven't got much there.

Anyone have any idea if the DOC wigs from DOD fit Narae? I've heard that wigs from DOD tend to run a bit big, but I'm not sure.

Ok another wig question. I found the most perfect wig for my Narae that will fit her character well. It is from dollmore size 7 exactly and fits their Narsha dolls.
So I'm wondering if this will be too big or just right with the use of velcro or a silicon wig cap (which I plan on ordering some time this week)?

It could work Osaki, I have mainly 6-6.5 inch wigs for mine, but she also regulary wears the Zaoll default wig, which, with some velcro, stays on fine. So I'd say a Narsha wig is slightly too big, but with velcro you should do alright. It's a bit trial and error with finding out what fits these lovelies

Oh about shoes, I just got the cutest boots from Leekeworld Ordered them in june =.= but the grouporder thing went a bit slow and I just got them a few weeks ago, and they fit perfectly. So I'm afraid Kahlen will get many more Leeke shoes..XD

Could someone tell me how to remove the faceplate from my Narae. I need to straighten one of her eyes and I assumed the faceplate would just unclip but it seems very firmly fixed. I'm scare stiff of damaging her faceup or the resin. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't been here for a long time and finally took my dolls out of their boxes! I want to get back to story te;;ing (Izzy and Jack) and am thinking of buying another Narae but I wanted to see if they are still selling urethane dolls. It gives you that option on Dollfair. Is there a thread for discussing the pros and cons of the urethane vrs the french resin. My poor Izzy has yellowed (I still love her! We all get older..lol)

Along this same line, I've also been wondering if there is a thread about what can be done for "yellowed" french resin. I recently acquired a 2004 Narae (my first BJD) and she has yellowed evenly all over, even in places where sunlight would not have reached. I'm at least her 3rd owner and she has never been "blushed".

Before I think about the possibility of blushing/faceup or a "new" Narae, I'd like to know more. I just love her face, so I'm going to keep her as she is for a while...

The subject of yellowing is a big one - there's been much discussion about it. If you do a search in the forum in general for Yellowing Resin, you'll come up with a couple threads that are loooong. In general, though, resin yellows all the way through a doll, not just on the surface. You can try cleaning the surface and if it hasn't gone all the way through it might look lighter for awhile. But frankly, all resin yellows and to change it you'd need to do some serious chemical treatments. And the resin could yellow again. I've seen a nice large Narae coated with many layers of pastel powder, with sprays of MSC in between, until there was a hard surface. It was a beautiful pearly-pinky-white color. But the person said it was a labor-intensive job, and I don't know of anyone else who has tried it.

For myself, my Narae from 2005 has yellowed to a buttermilk color and I'm keeping her as she is, because I love her faceup and can't bring myself to have it changed. My newer Narae, who has the tanning skintone, has lost her "pinkness", which I loved, but she still looks nice. She is starting to have a somewhat golden-tan look, though, as does my tanning skintoned Narin from 2005. I'm accepting how they look because the color is straight through the resin, and I know that simply treating the surface isn't going to help. So I love them as they are. It's a decision that each Narae/Narin with french resin has to make when the yellowing starts - to treat with chemical, sand and seal, or cover with coats of paint/pastel - or to let them be as they are.

This may not have been a lot of help, but just knowing that there's a whole lot of people out there with similarly yellowing dolls may help! :>)

 

I think it's important to point out that there are many of us who do not consider our yellowed dolls ugly or ruined. I love the colors that my FRs have mellowed to. Yellow does not mean ugly, you just have to decide what you like.
