Contest The Great Triathlon WINNERS POSTED!

Jun 24, 2010

    1. Hinotori Thank you! I never knew play-doh could be so temperamental. XD

    2. I love the photo of that little banana and voted for it.

    3. It's funny how many of us forgot to post photos or make them black and white or whatever. It was a big rush at the end! I totally forgot my fourth photo in the set event and had to frantically crop something down for it. :)

Sims and Aglesiras, thanks! The poor girl was only released from her masking tape cocoon last night. I bet it was getting really itchy under there. ;)

It's fun seeing the photos together! Brings back that sense of wonder I had when first viewing them. Nightmareally, I loved the eraser wig!

    4. LOL... XD Thank you so very much. Is the voting for banana done already? >.<

    5. Awww thank you guys so much. I was actually watching black adder on netflix when the challenge was announced and well I love queenie so I just had to try a big dress like hers. The reason it looks like basket weave is because it IS... *laugh* the corset was made and then I spent about three hours cutting itty bitty strips and weaving it in to the fan. By the time I was done I was seriously questioning my sanity but really you guys made my YEAR for voting it top. I thought I was totally boned when I saw all the other tape entries.

So How many other people looked like they were performing dolly capital punishment by hanging their dolls from something? Mine was fashionably attached to my lamp with a yarn noose for about 5 days! I must say thank you to my roomate who lent me her dolls for two of the three entries. I wanted to make sure no one could pick my dolls out so I borrowed some. Also I tried to go with a different feel in each one!

Also for anyone who would tell... How did you guys work in your wig material in to your set? I used the coins from my medusa wig on the net for my fishing boat.

    6. I didn't hang my poor doll for the tape couture, but I did keep him nude for days until I was sure my outfit was done (and could be taken on and off him). (_ _) He was laid nude on a big blue towel while I worked on the floor beside him. I was capital-punishing myself because I don't have a desk in my room where I can work on... so I worked on the floor for all 3 challenges. ^^;;

    7. I've already gushed In PMs over some of the entries... But doing it publicly doesn't hurt. :).

Sims, your tape dress was a work if art. I loved the neck ruff and the little details of the beads and the tape weave. The whole thing was amazing and I loved it coupled with the bald doll.

Katyok, every round I was impressed with your entries and your photos! They had a sort of old skool magic to them and I was seriously amazed by your talent. It's wonderful to see someone who not only can take great photos (in case anyone missed it, katyok is our winner for Almost Human), but can also build and create with her hands. Amazing work!

Alewife, your pictures consistently didn't work so I feel like we bonded trying to get the links! I was so surprised when your tape couture finally loaded... I felt like I was looking at an old photo of a saloon girl or vintage pinup!

Fransyung, I loved your set! It was one of my favorites, actually. I hope you'll take more pics in it with other dolls. The colors and patterns are wonderful.

    8. You really went above and beyond, getting my photos to load! And you had to keep doing it over and over. *blush* I still don't know what I was doing wrong-- I guess I'm a techno-dork. But I do appreciate it! :)

    9. Congrats to all the winners!! You guys are seriously all amazing!! :D

And I made it into double digits!!! WOOT! ::lol:

    10. Thank you... Seriously, you just made my day... and my tears just come out. TAT

    11. from lollygagger:

      [IMG][IMG][IMG]

The Zanybandz picture frame was my wig material.

The Great Tape Bandit was me hehehe Funny since it was chosen before I knew about the second challenge LOL It was because my wig was made out of green painters tape then spray painted. WHICH is still splattered ALL over my feet as I used some to paint my Entertainment center >.> Oh and the incorporation of the painters tape is the grassy looking stuff in the black and red vase :D

My first wig was being made out of wire (ohhh hoo hooo hooo I thought I was SO unique and creative lol) but it just was NOT turning out how i wanted it and all the clipping was killing my hands. The idea for my wig came when I'd actually made the wig cap for the first wig as I liked the shape. Originally it was more emo than what it ended up being but hey, it kinda built itself heheh. So MASSIVE Kudos to those that worked with wire @_@ I know how brutal it was so congrats at conquering it!!!

As for hanging your doll >.>

For DAYSSSSSSSSS he hung there. LOL considering this was early in my designing. The shirt portion was done at this point, and you can see the beginning of the basket weave that took TWO FRICKIN DAYS >,< But i loveeeeee how it turned out for the pants and bits of armor :3 Shame I cant really use it in a day to day outfit ;__; The cape took a WHOLE ROLL of tape itself @_@

All in all I'm proud of my accomplishments :) I know I have lots to improve on but hey, thats what these kinds of things are about right? :D

Plus! I now have a MUCH MUCH needed couch for my dolls as cramming 8 (soon to be 10) into my barely fits 2 dolls chair just wasn't happening any more >.>.. They now celebrate having some SPACE. Also, I made it so the couch part lifts off the box bottom and I have a place to store doll clothes/stuff!! So its not strewn all through my house LOL Yeay for fully functional projects!!

    13. phanuel - I love your set for your Catsy! It's so darn cute! It got my vote.

And I guess I'll own up to my entries? I was Mokkun.

      [IMG] [IMG]

      I'm most proud of my set. It's pretty simplistic but I like it. I've got furniture planned for my other dolls, so all three of them can use the same set. ^^;

    14. When I posted yesterday I forgot to post who I was and my picutures :)
I really had so much fun making everything :)
      I was panda
      [IMG][IMG][IMG]

    15. I totally LOVED your umm dresser/cabinet in that set Shashan its simple but its so perfect for that minimalistic look. I love it! Well done!

    16. Shashan , I know where you're coming from, I like the simple lines too.

    17. Haha, thanks phanuel and ViolentViolet (loved your wig, btw). ^^

    18. phanuel : I loved your set, it was such a great idea ! All the little details made me laugh. :)

I could go on and congratulate everyone... keep posting please ! It's fun to see all three entries together.

    19. Ale: thanks! I worked really hard on that wig and it's nice to see that people actually liked it! :)

    20. This is so cool, congrats to everyone & thanks to the mods who put this together! It is neat to put faces(avatars) to the entries as well. And while I was so out of the running it isn't funny, the people I voted for won, so I'll just live vicariously through them :D

      I think the only suggestion I would have is maybe not post the votes until the very end so it is a total surprise. But that is only because I got depressed & dropped out after I saw the voting (i.e. mine). ^^;;;;

I had a blast with the first & second challenge & I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do for the third but no motivation. I'm still going to do it eventually tho because I like my idea.

And again thanks again to the mods & companies for the contest & prizes!
      Anna

    21. Here are my entries, I was GellyBean :)

    22. phanuel, your Catsy set was wonderful. I voted for it! The litter box made me burst out laughing.

The hanging doll is too funny.

Phanuel, violentviolet, Sashan, audiencekiller-- great wigs all. The wig event was my favorite to look at. So much creativity!

    23. I absolutely loved your entries, especially the tape outfit and theatre.

    24. Thanks Hinotori and Alewife, it's nice to finally be "exposed" and get some feedback.

    25. :lol:Hi again guys! I just wanted to say...

And here's a pic of them eating my wig...sigh...It's been in the fridge since before voting on part one!
The dress didn't make it sadly, it tore up when it was being removed, but here was my entry...in color cause I thought it was prettier that way, hahaha.

I really appreciate everyone being so kind and voting for my entries! It was an honor to compete with such amazing talent here on DoA!

      DMM :kitty2

    26. Yay i am so happy everyone is showing off, my turn to do the same now :)

      [IMG] [IMG]

Oh and i also made my dress so i could take it on and off, here is the dress on it's own.

I know i have not been using the pictures i used for the contest, i have been showing off other ones. But you can most likely tell which ones where mine since i am showing you stuff from the same shoot. Oh and here is my wig too!

      [IMG] [IMG]

    27. NY_Kitty XD My mom and I LOVEDDD Your Puki set!!! LOL It's OSUM!

Yanno >.> the more I look at my wig... the more it looks like a plant :B LOL Like some... great goth cactus or something @_@

    28. OK i am just going to defend my name then i will drop this! I don't think it would be fair for the other people to say what they have about me and not be able to respond. I am NOT going to have that. I think people do have a lot of talent on here. And personally if i didn't hear various comments about how admin always win the contests then i would have worked just as hard as the rest of you to join in.

If it would have been a contest just for members, or even other admins that did not organize the event, then i would have joined in on the fun. Especially since my doll does not have a wig or any real outfits yet it would have given me a lot of motivation. It is petty that people think i am jealous or whatever. I was simply stating reasons why i did not join in and my feelings on the subject on the matter and how others are most likely to think the same. I was NOT the first person to "DRAMA" about this. I was simply saying personally admins should not enter for the prize.

I am not going to say i am sorry and i was just saying that this site has a rep for the contest organizers and the judges winning the contest. I was not saying that "Oh she shouldn't not have won, it was all a fix etc." like someone said last year. I quite simply think that if she was running it, she should not of entered. Why not get another admin to run? Why do admin keep winning?

If companies start thinking oh the admins are just going to end up with them, then they might stop donating. I was just saying how i felt. I did not compete because of the reputation the site has for the admins winning. This is not the only contest on here i chose not to enter for that reason.

    29. Thank God for the IGNORE list!

    30. Thanks ViolentViolet, I had a lot of fun making that set. :)

    31. Why what does that do?

    32. Ny kitty- I also have to say I loved your banana addition, yours had this whole cute story with it! The dastardly banana killer.. then again maybe I watch too much crime tv.

Darth- Your entries made me both envious and... really hungery! Seriously your wig was awsome and my favorite part? the rock candy.

    33. It ignores you and makes all your posts invisible for the person ignoring you.
And you haven't read all posts, have you? All the arguments you used have been busted already.

    34. Yeah, I totally used the wig as an excuse to go to the candy store and splurge...shhh...don't tell my hubby!! Hee hee hee. Sims- your entries were fantastic as well!

    35. I seriously start to think that this "Fantasy Dolls" person is a troll, and have personal Vendetta towards either DoA, or the admin of DoA personally. Am I the only one recognizing that he/she the only person doing the whining and personal attacks?

      ----

Sorry for perpetuating this... I couldn't help... sorry...

    36. Congrats everyone! This was so much fun! I want to thank whoever voted for me (I'm pretty sure there was one person which was great because I expected no voted but it was still lots of fun).

Also who is Lady Gaga, esq? Just curious because evertime I checked my name on the score board you were right there too and I've been curios since then.

Anyways Congrats to everyone for being so amazingly awesomely creative.
      MikeyWay aka lolcat <3

    37. I LOVE seeing who made what -- and I'm again so floored by all your talent! Here are my three entries:

It just looks like a hot mess, but the wig actually consists of LOTS of tiny braids of effect yarn! The girl who's modelling it says she totally needs an outfit to go with it so she can go clubbing...

I didn't have a lot of time for the tape outfit, as I was busy and without internet access for a couple of days, so the outfit turned out VERY basic. I didn't vote for myself this round, that's for sure!

This set took me forever with all its little details (like, there is a handprint for each of my 10" dolls on the lower wall, and lines for their height on the middle section) and the furniture and the books and the cookie bag and so on. But I love it, and I've already done a photoshoot with it. Here's one picture from that:

And I know you said to drop it, I just want to say: I'm so sorry, Armeilia. I wish it hadn't turned out this way.

    38. I almost did the same thing after my tape entry got half the votes my wig did. O_o
But here they are. I was the, uh, appropriately named crabcraft.

darthmermer, I am amazed that you also had time to make wigs and outfits for all of your pukis!!

    39. Did I miss the results of the bonus entry vote? Who is the TOP BANANA?!?

    40. I had to take a trip that weekend and couldn't take the set with me...and I got nervous NOT doing anything so I cut up a shirt and some dollar store wigs/headband thingies and used little Pong as a portable model...I'm kicking myself for doing such an abstract set though...

I LOVED your museum setting BTW! Especially how they're looking at the pieces!

    41. st James your set was SO COOL! and I love your banana photo too the dolls expression was so fantastic!

Also.. here is a dignified photo of my tape rig. (sorry its blurry)

and here is a color version of the weave.

    42. Ooooo, crabcraft;), nice stuff, but I was especially impressed by your art museum, pretty sure I voted for it.

I think the second round had the most mind-blowing competition. I never dreamed anyone would or could create such detailed, perfect outfits from masking tape. The imagination and patience--unbelievable. Who was it that actually knitted a scarf out of masking tape threads?

    43. So, so cool to see all the people behind these amazing crafts! I was very busy during the time of the triathlon, so I didn't participate, but I think I might try to make some awesome sets; you guys inspired me, and especially because they were such cheap materials!

Anyway, congrats to everyone who won, and to those who had the awesomeness to participate!

    44. I was kimmono20.... Um yeah I only got three votes intotal I think...
      Here's my dress

      an the wig
      [IMG]

    45. St. James, that bench in the museum - OMG, I want a bench like that for my apartment!!! Loved the museum set, it was my favorite, so original and different from everything else.

Sims - how dare you disrespect the Queen like that?! Seriously though, that basket weave is divine. It looks even better in natural color, with this silky sheen to it.

    46. NY_Kitty: Welcome and well deserved! I thought it was cute and well pulled off!

St. James: I LOVEEEE That outfit. Holy heck! The neckline made me soooo happy :D Great job!*keeps on drooling* Also, the house is torn as to what the glowing pink thing is O.O Is it electric cotton candy? :O We must know!!!

    47. I got only 4 votes each round, so didn't bother with the third round. I went by 'Sexy Beast' because this chocolate man is a nice sexy beast.

This wig was made of yarn and done to look like corn rows. I figured I would get a few more votes then I did, because I thought it was a rather creative idea, and was rather unique for hair style. So many hair styles were just poofs of hair.

Then my boy in his 'pimp daddy' outfit:
Again, figured I would get a few more votes then I did, with the creativity of the fur sort of collar. Hoped the tan doll would also stand out some with the white outfit and dark skin.

      -Anneke

    48. The tape entry winners pictures are not showing up for me.

    49. @ Vampireanneke your pimp outfit was awesome and creative, you did a great job and should be proud of it, i think it looks pretty awesome. The dark skin with the light tape was why i chose my girl too, because i thought that would give a contrast too.

    50. Thanks LOL I watch a lot of CSI and Law & order. And I have to say you blew me away with the weave on your dress, that must have taken a lot of patience :O

@ Darthmermer- That was your butterfly dress? I would love to see that made into an actual dress if possible, so gorgeous. :)

    51. Wow Sims, all kinds of awesome going on there xD

    52. Karla-chan, I want that futon frame in human size!
Vampireanneke-- I really liked the fur collar and wondered how you did it.
Vince_Twilight, great wig, especially with that faceup.
St. James, it's a good thing you didn't drop out, because your art museum is one of my favorites! I love the sly artwork, the thoughtful look of your dolls, and the dalmation bananas.

I've just been looking at the blog entries, which are all fascinating. Vicent_nightmare, your set is amazing. So well-done, so disturbing! :D I've also been enjoying the story you wrote to go along with it!

    53. Wow thanks so much, i do admit i like my futon very much, the frame i did base on some human sized ones i saw though :) But thanks it means a lot that people have been saying nice things about my work.

    54. These three were mine:

I had the best time with this contest! And those blog entries are fantastic - it's great to see the process for some of the entries. I wish I'd noticed the form and done entries for mine now. :sweat

    55. I didn't get the set done, but here's my wig and tape dress.

      [IMG][IMG]

    56. Piyoko that dress was one of my faves :) Very nice style!!

    57. Yup, I'm that disturbed one with enough disturbed mind to make disturbing things :oU
Black Seaweed. Also known as the owner of the Gory-scene.

Thank you very much all the people who voted for me, also thank you for those who read my blog!
The whole contest was so much fun, I didn't want it to finish!

    58. Yay for disturbing! Seriously, your set had a lot of impact and was really well done.

    59. vincent_nightmare, I really loved your wig photograph.

    60. Vincent, your wig was so cool, you really have atmosphere down!
