Contest The Great Triathlon of 2017 - Winners Announced!

Aug 1, 2017

    1. Hahaha nice!! xD But oh my gosh CONGRATS!!!!! :D your entry was so beautiful and well done!! The Gentleman Theif defiantly deserved the win ;) But is he ok? Did he survive the fall? :frownyblush:

    2. Thank you <3

The story doesn't tell ... it's kind of a cliffhanger for now ><

But Neil Survived the photoshoot, and that was a relief!
I could tell he hated it though, he's probably plotting my demise at the moment.
      ...
You can see it in his gaze!

    3. @stormi and @Lawrichai I think it'd be best if you saved the image to your computers and hosted it somewhere yourselves to use in your signatures. Using someone else's link takes up their bandwidth, so it might be more courteous if everyone hosts their own signatures, I think. Personally I used imgur for it, I find it very practical to use. :thumbup Unless we're allowed to use the one hosted to DOA? I didn't want to risk it.

Edit: If anyone needs help using imgur, feel free to message me, I'd be happy to assist!

    5. Hahaha aww poor guy he's like "why would you do this to me" xD aw no I hope he is ok!! Poor guy Dx

    6. One of the 'outtakes' that I didn't use in the end, but still a cool shot:

    7. This was so cool!!! How did you make the masks?? :O

    8. Thanks! Um well half of them are papier-mache thins made directly on Mr B's head taking advantage of the uncharacteristically warm weather we had that week I was able to get several done v.nearly simultaneously given the temperatures the porch got up to! (And lol, you can really see the three that were made when I was running out of time in that shot)

The remainder are a mix of worbla transpa-art and standard worbla. Basically I made a crude plaster-cast of the front of Mr B's face so that I wouldn't cook it with the heat gun (since transpa-art is formable at fairly high temperatures I really didn't want to risk it), and laid out small sheets of the worbla over the mask-form and with a lot of poking, pulling, and burnt fingers pulled the pliable thermoplastic until it was molded to the face. (The admittedly crude plaster mask-form didn't really survive the process, so I'm really glad I took the extra time to do that - in the end a large chunk it's nose got stuck in one of the masks and had to be dug out! So I dread to think what would have happened to the actual head if subjected to that kind of treatment.)

It was a fairly tricky process, and the first couple of attempts went less than perfectly - eventually I worked out that having the face on a raised platform helped matters dramatically.

I should probably add that it was my first proper attempt to work with worbla - I've had some fairly large sheets hanging around for a while since I've been planning to make one of my dolls a breast-plate and some 'leather' bits of armour, but just... never got around to it!

Actually it really highlights how I'm also one of those people who uses the Triathlon as an excuse to have a craft-project to complete, with a deadline to follow!

Here's another of the first-attempt things - my first attempt at a spray paint landscape:

    9. Awe thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it! I wish I had time to do more details in my last picture, I wanted to make pillars and stuff XD

    10. @Vetinari I really liked your masks, especially the clear ones!

@Lawrichai Neil doesn't look happy with you at all. ;) Thanks for taking the time to show your behind-the-scenes shots.

    11. A bit late but CONGRATS to all the winners. I was super impressed with everyone's entries, honestly! I didn't get a chance to finish the last challenge due to RL time constraints but i was the bald Resinsoul Sophia viking. XD

I can't wait for next year's Triathlon though, everyone is going to do wonders!

    12. So which prizes did the winners pick? :)

    13. We were asked to list the prizes in order of preferences, but that's about it for now.

I had no other news about how and when we'll get our prizes, nor if we were able to get our favorite or not.

      =^.^=
I'll make sure to add a picture when I receive mine.

    14. Aaaah a little late to the party but congratulations to everyone who placed!!!! @Lawrichai, I was so so impressed by your third challenge entry especially, the amount of effort to get the perfect shot really shone through!! I couldn't believe how amazing it looked when I saw it!! And your outfit was beautifully done and your prop was so clever :^D

@KiyoshiSenshi I LOVED your outfit for the first challenge!!! I recognized your doll and I kept want to message you and tell you how amazing I thought it looked, but I figured I should probably do so once the triathlon was complete hehehe.

And I hope it's okay, but I wanted to give a shoutout to my personal favorite outfit from challenge 1. Since I don't know the creator, I'll post the photo they entered:

I loved this outfit SO much!! I think because it's so particular to my taste in fashion for my own dolls- I showed this to my friend and my mom and they all agreed this looks more like something I would make rather than the entry I did make lmfao (which was the dark sorcerer on the Crobidoll Lance ^^). I hope the creator is okay with my sharing this here, and if you see this I just want to say how much I absolutely love this!! ♥u♥

      :wiggle

The entries were reeeeally amazing this year! I hope that every one feels like they learned new, valuable skills throughout the process. I can't wait until next year ! ! !

    22. Dreaming Reaa is home <3

      I am so happy! =^.^=
      She's absolutely beautiful and delicate.
Such a contrast against my virile men ;)
So she's officially my second full doll <3
(Sintros, Motesto and Neil must share the same body)
      ><

This said, I had a wonderful experience with Dollmore, who were very patient with me and my hundred questions about Reaa and the extra accessories I bought for her =^.^=

I want to give a special thanks to all of you who were touched by my photo entries <3
And also to the organizers that were able to get an agreement with Dollmore for this prize.
Thank you for allowing this dream of mine to come true
