Just realized I've spent the last half hour watching and rewatching all of our fabulous dolly-mations....even though I'd already voted. Great work, peoples! You are all inspiring! I'm hoping there will be a "play along" thread as mentioned...'cause I want to do it again!

I am so impressed! These are just wonderful! It's going to take me the longest time of all to vote on these - congratulations to everyone who finished a mini-movie! definitely something I want to try (yes, I hear all of you over there saying "me first! no, me!").

 

I really enjoyed seeing all the entries. I'm amazed at the variety of ways that people approached the same challenge, although some of them were less "showcasing" the entries from the first two rounds. There were so many different techniques represented. We have entries that focused on posing the doll, some that focused on interacting with the background or props made from the white paper/black markers, entries with incredible art and entries that used text, even entries that created movement through camera angles. This was a really great challenge for pushing people outside their comfort zones and I'm sure I'm not the only one who was really pleased with what I accomplished. I hope the people who didn't get a chance to participate are inspired to give it a try!

 

Oh gawd there are some funny gifs in there... you guys are so AWESOME!!!! Mods.... Thank you for your creative genius in coming up with the BEST Triathlon ever!!! I had a total blast and cannot wait to congratulate our winners in a few days

I especially enjoyed the black humor in some of the gifs... it sort of accurately reflects how most of us were feeling minutes from midnight LOL

 

That would be great for the 10th, if it could be pulled off in July...maybe some strong-brave hearts could then participate in all the 10th year celebrating.
Also, for every year, not having it right before school starts again would probably help a lot of people who hit some extra real life duties in the month of August.

Wish every mod could get some special gift goodies.
Please know you are appreciated I'm SURE by anyone who has ever been a part of the behind-the-scenes for special events.

 

The gifs are truly amazing! As a non-participant, I've been hugely enjoying - and being inspired by - the entries in all three rounds! I absolutely love the way the gifs bring everything together in a new format and showcase people's artistic talent, ingenuity - and sense of humour! What a superb group of talented people you are

 

I'm a total non-participant, too. Everyone who participates is just WAY more creative and skilled than I could ever be. I just LOVE seeing what you all do! It really is amazing and inspiring!!! You all deserve to be winners just for working so hard and making such wonderful things!

 

I did not participate in the triathlon this year either, but I am stunned and floored by the creativity and imaginative results for each of the stages. The final gifs are flat out AMAZING!! Everybody did such a fantastic job, it was extremely difficult to vote. Thank you, everybody, for sharing your creativity with us! And thank you, moderators, for hosting such fun events this year!

While I've surprised myself on what can be done, I am inspired by the other entries. I second (third?) the idea* of having a thread to further our new-found gif making learnings as well as to have a place to share our tricks, and trials and tribulations, on making them. The thread could be DoA's Dolly-mation Grand Studios, open to everyone. (credit to MissEmily for coining the word "dolly-mation"

*St. James suggested a play-along thread in the Crafts section.

 

Wow those were incredibly fun to see. I wish I wasn't so computer impaired... I might have to get someone to help me out with a lesson or two. It would be so much fun to try that! I commend all the entrants that made it thru to the end! Great job everyone.

 

I'd like to join a GIF-making thread, I had a lot of fun and would like to practice making more.

Me too, post-triathlon letdown, for sure. Fortunately I joined Project Runway and will start to work on project 'get the dolls ready for cons in 2014 project'.
There could maybe be a 'Triathlon Training Thread' though, where we post challenges we set ourselves, repeat past triathlon challenges, or propose challenges for play-along...to keep us in 'shape' for competition...would anyone join it and do this if I made it?

Though I also liked the GIF thread idea too...I really like the 'working together but independently' thing, lots of fun and motivation.

 

I love the idea of a gif thread... we could set ourselves a monthly challenge and vote for a "winner" who then gets to set the next months theme LOL Would be so much fun!!

 

I'd participate, on a regular basis. I really had fun with mine and want to learn more, do it more.
It should be good discipline to have a deadline to work towards and others to help critique and share ideas to improve, talk concepts and how to achieve them, etc... I'm really interested especially with my Unoa faceplate stash growing, but don't have much know-how in this department. I'm going to be hosting a MiniMoo card swap coming up so I don't want to host the thread, then be overcommitted and neglect it, haha!!

DO ALL THE THINGS...in moderation!

There was already a great name suggested and maybe we could wheedle ellipses for more tutorials.
After the winner reveal here, and we can talk freely--someone decently skilled at GIF...please step up then and lead this!!

Awesome!! sadly I'm in and out of the country regularly for work so my participation would be sporadic but I'd still love to try it out again LOL

 

It doesn't have to be competitive or themed, it's just sometimes fun to add those elements in for motivation (IMNSHO), but any sort of thread for GIF-making will be fun, a repository and a resource. I have noticed more lag in forums that allow gifs played in the threads though, that might be an issue that we need to prevent by linking to them. A good question for the mods...
