Hi there! I've been inspired by other's lists of plans for their dolls and wanted to do the same! It'll be great to see it all in one place. General Plans: Clean up, clean up, everybody do your share~ ...uh, I need to clean up my doll space and organize stuff! I might even need to get rid of things (mostly clothes and wigs). Learn to restring! I've successfully done it once with my Bobobie Elfkin, Johnny, and kind of did it with my off-topic Hujoo (until I lost a part...) but would love to get better at it! Learn to do face-ups! Again, I've done it before on some tinies but I want to make a project out of one of my dolls. Crochet some dolly things! I'd love to make some hats or clothes. Get shoes! Shoes and socks for all! Flesh out characters more! I have some vaguely defined groups and personalities but I'd like to expand on them. Find dolls new homes! If I'm not feeling a doll, they should find another loving home. I kind of have too many as it is. Specific Plans: Make a back brace for Kaede! I envision here as needing one due to a spinal injury at birth. Any suggestions would be great! Restring Johnny so I can get him ready for donation. (I'd like to give him away to a newbie, now that I don't work with kids.) I also need to clean him up. Make clothes for Rise, Nagisa, and Suzuna. These ladies need for clothes, especially Rise. This might take awhile because they're not really popular sizes for patterns (other than Suzuna). Find Nagisa a permanent, natural colored wig. Her hair is dyed right now but I'd love for her to go back to her natural coloring. Find Suzuna a permanent wig. The one she has now is nice, but it's not perfect, ya know? That's all I can think of for now. I might add on to this later. Thanks for reading through this!
Good luck! Looks like a much more manageable list than mine lol. Definitely going to keep an eye on your progress!
Let's check in a month or so later and see what I've done! Done Working on it! No longer applies Not even started General Plans: Clean up, clean up, everybody do your share~ ...uh, I need to clean up my doll space and organize stuff! I've cleaned up a little bit but still need to work on it. I need more containers for all the wigs I've bought and my general clothing box needs to be sorted. I've done some working fleshing out my dolls' characters and feel better about their direction now. I like having distinct personalities to base fashion choices on. I no longer have Kaede or Nagisa due to financial reasons so those plans are null and void. But, on the bright side, I did find them new homes! I'm still considering rehoming some other dolls but I'll get back to that as the year goes on. I'm sending the majority of my dolls out for restringing and sueding by the fabulous @Hellsing365 (who I highly recommend!) so at least that's getting done. I'm not doing it myself yet but the year is still young! I am still planning on giving away Johnny but I'm not sure to whom yet. I currently have a half finished dress on my desk for Suzuna that could actually probably fit my MSDs. I still haven't started on patterns for Rise though. And here's my newly added plans! New Plans: Make more detailed character profiles for my dolls, both for DoA and offsite roleplaying Spend more time with my dolls Get Jodi a wig that fits her AND a few faceup (by me) Practice faceups on off topic dolls Hoping to check in in another month or so to see how things are going! Thanks again for reading, and happy almost spring!
Here's what I've accomplished since my last post! I've experimented with restringing a Bobobie March I purchased in the Marketplace. After about thirty minutes of fiddling, I was able to get her to stand and sit reliably. I'd like to move forward by sueding her too and getting a kip for her neck! I still need to clean (even more so now). Hellsing is also making custom wigs for Suzuna and Jodi which is super exciting! I've fleshed out a lot of my characters for offsite roleplaying, but I haven't had much time to spend with my dolls. New Plans Get neck kip and sueding supplies for Bobobie March Give Bobobie March face-up (currently blank)
I did this! I don't think it's the best faceup ever, but I don't hate it. Progress! April by Salted Pretzel, on Flickr
You've made so much progress!! Good work i think your dolls face up is cute, she looks very innocent with the eyelashes
Still working on sueding and restringing April! Sueding was easy with the generic moleskin I picked up at the local grocery store but I really wish Resinsoul/Bobobie had S hooks for their tinies. I've purchased a set that should be arriving sometime soon. Once they come in, I think she'll be done body-wise.
It would be so much easier if they did! Talk about tiny hooks, I shopped a bit to see if anyone made them that size. Jewelry wire ended up being my best bet. Picture framing stuff is nice but it leaves residue and can be really hard to twist at such intense angles. Lord knows how many tiny S hooks are hiding around my craft room after shooting out of my hands while crafting them. Bahahahaha! I can't wait to see your progress though
I finally got April put together! 20220422_114112 by Salted Pretzel, on Flickr I modified some YOSD sized hooks I got off of VolksUSA and hooked her hands on that way. They... work technically but you can definitely tell by her wrist design that she was meant to have her elastic strung through her hands. (Her feet are still unhooked but I didn't want to mess with her lower body since it poses pretty well.) I was also able to fix the issue with her head lolling from side to side by sueding her neck hole. She can hold a head pose now! I'd say that, for now, April is pretty much done. She's been a fun project!
