So, the cutest thing happend today. My little kitten Cannelle likes to hang out with us humans, but she's not very cuddly. She prefers to sleep next to me more than on my laps. And today I was chilling on my laptop with my doll (she hasn't a name yet) sitting next to me. And then, Cannelle comes by, hops on the couch and lyes on the knees of the doll. She starts to purr very loudly and looks calm and comfortable... She felt asleep some minutes later. It was so sweet I couldn't handle it haha And it was just an hour after me and my boyfriend discussing the fact that the doll had a 'mean and scary' look. Well, we're not afraid of her anymore since our cat adopted her :p 23618981_1479688082086974_1592502101_n by Marlena Bukowska, sur Flickr Tell me your cute/funny stories involving BJD and your animals!
To be honest, the only interaction my bunny has had with my dolls was trying to bite Emilio. I doubt that would've been good for either of them!
This is so so sweet ahh!! I don't have a full doll yet so I don't have any experiences to share but I think my cat would just sniff a bjd then carry on with whatever he was doing he doesn't really care about new stuff
Ah, my kitties. I had my Hyperon (Rich) sitting in a chair in the living room and I'd find CAT hair in his hand, like he'd petted my Harry (who has long grey hair). Finally I saw how this happened (no the doll did not come to life LOL) - Harry would stick his head under Rich's hand to scratch himself LOL I have tried multiple times to get a pic but nope, can't manage it. Another thing Harry does - he likes the little pool table I got the dolls. I'd constantly find the balls moved & didn't understand (again, no, the dolls weren't playing a quick game LOL) - it was the cat jumping on the mini-pool table & rearranging things
My cat gets super needy whenever I bring out my dolls, like she suddenly decides then that she needs me to pay attention to her and give her love. I can be going about my day with not seeing much of her because she's just lounging around the house in odd places, but as soon as I grab one of my dolls it's suddenly her time. I keep one of my dolls in the box it came in and my cat tries to hop in with the doll, and then she'll try to bite any doll clothes I have in my hands. I think she's jealous. My two dogs, however, never bother a thing.
My Rat Terrier, Armani, snuggling Justin. She usually doesn't mind the dolls in any way, she knows not to bother them, even if they're easily within her reach. One day, Justin was sitting on the couch and I caught Armani dragging her blanket over to cover his legs, then snuggling up against him. It was adorable and sweet, but I was so surprised and amazed by the behavior that I didn't manage to get a photo!
I keep my doll away from my dogs. I’m not worried about them chewing on them or anything, but I know they’d drag their cold wet noses aaaaallll over the face-up, because they’re little terrors that way.
Well, most people won't think this is cute, but my cat steals wigs. Often right out off the dolls' heads. He's fond of fur, both real and faux, so fur clothing is also something he goes after. Then he carries them around like he killed something and he's so proud. He also "helps" restring by trying to steal the string and the s-hooks. And he loves loves loves doll bags. All of them. Even bags belonging to guests and friends who come over for meets or to hang out. He'll just hop right in. Even if dolls are still in there. So the first thing I do when people come over is warn them about bags and wigs. He's super-friendly so if there's fifteen people in the house he'll just stroll on into the middle of the crowd and start thieving, right out in front of everyone. So yeah. I think he's adorable. But I'm a terrible cat mom and I spoil him rotten and let him do whatever he wants. He never bothers the actual dolls, so I figure I got off easy. I mean, he's a twenty pound cat, and it's not all fat, he's just huge. He could do damage if he wanted too, but he's happy sleeping in bags and stealing wigs.
My cat loves snuggling against my doll's wigs xD He hasn't tried to steal one yet but he loves rubbing against them and 'styling' them.
My husband's cat, Sydney will try and get into our doll's closet room. And bookshelf rooms, These are old photos the rooms look much cooler now, but she still does it. She hasn't knocked a doll off. So we are good. My old man cat, Trouble, is lazy and let my little Dorian sit on his back for a bit.
So many cats ! My cats tend to just ignore my dolls usually (aside from the occasional "huh what's this?" sniff)) however the big fluffy brush I use to brush away excess pastel dust is something my cats just have to kill. If I leave that brush out and either of my cats see it? Well, let's hope I return before they've pulled all the bristles out!
This morning, I saw my ferret jumped and danced on new bjd box. I think she was curious what inside. Several year ago, one of my ferrets stole brown fur clothes and ran before our eyes. We laughed because the color of that fur clothes wes really similar to our ferret's fur. Normally I keep doll far from my pets'paws but sometimes they accidentally met.
That's so cute! I wish my cats were so into what I do instead of just sleep through everything but I guess that's why I love ferrets so much, they seem like really cool, inquisitive and intelligent pets! Plus I've seen some people post photos of their ferrets and their dolls together and the ferrets were just really in scale, like dollie companions ^^
I wish I had adorable stories XD My cat loves to munch on little plastic things to get my attention, it causes me great concern most times and I try to keep things out of his view. I caught him jumping up on the tables to try and munch on my dollies fingers and toes, goodness! I keep them well out of his reach now >.<""
Hahah I loved all of your stories! And for pets that don't even care... well, maybe it's for the better xD xD My cats also love to play in the boxes : one of them hides inside and the other one jumps on her.. or they just play hide and seek ^^ They're so happy about it that I don't have the heart to forbid it for them... even tought it will limit my possibilities if I ever want to sell my dolls. But right now I'm more like ''why would I have to sell them anyway, just look how my babies (cats) are happy just playing in a box'' :P
My cat Edwin loves Petunia. If I leave Petunia on a chair, or a bed, she (my cat) has to go over and meow at her- before cuddling up next to her! I'll have to get a photo sometime, it's so cute
I have no stories, just pictures on the photobomb thread. /threads/scat-cat-pet-invasion-pictures-photo-theme-challenge.238144/
My cat gets insanely jealous if he sees one of my dolls on my lap and will jump up and forcibly wedge himself between me and said dolly lol. He's a big cat too he takes up most of my lap by himself.
My cat Reno likes to stroke the doll hair. He stretches his little paw out and gently runs his paw through the hair. It's cute on the straight fiber wigs, gives me a heart attack when he attempts it on the mohair!
Both of our dogs generally don't care about the dolls that much, but there are (very cute) exceptions. Generally, during the rare photoshoot, they will get incredibly needy. I think this has more to do with me being so low to the ground than anything, haha. There are also a few sculpts that catch their attention and they'll stop to sniff. I'm not sure whether it's because they're more realistic than most of my crew, or got a lot of attention and therefor probably smell like me to an extent. Either way, it's cute. More specifically, though, we've had a new addition to the family recently (not mine, a sibling's), which has made our older dog very maternal. It's started to fade as the baby gets older, but at its height...well, let's say that instinct also extended to anything even vaguely baby-shaped/sized. A lot of concerned doting whenever I had a doll out.
When I first got my Flora's head in the mail, I was showing her to my mom and my dog Teddy tried to lick Flora's face! Then when Flora's body came in the mail, my cat Snow sat in the middle of the photo shoot area and started slapping her feet!
My cat Pacifica likes to hang out with my crew, and oftentimes tries to join in photo ops whenever she can. For a while I even caught her curled up next to my Lumedoll boy on my bed, as if she was cuddling up close to him for his company. I could go through a long list of the many times she's done something cute around my crew, but one of the more notable (and memorable) ones for me happened when I was setting Aqqen up in a pose with his fingers doing the peace sign on my computer chair. Pacifica chose that chance to jump up on the chair with him, lay down and stare at me like she was proud of her move. The funny thing about it was how his hand moved while she was doing so. It is hard to explain, but it was cute and hilarious. My goofurball is an attention whore
Whenever I make yarn wefts for wigs, or even wig caps, my dog thinks it's something tasty! He'll sit by my feet whining until I show him he can't eat it! I mean I know Mod Podge has a unique scent....but c'mon, doggo...
I remember back when Reito had just arrived my dog was still alive... I was taking some pictures of Reito near the big glass door leading to our garden back at my mother's place and Gepetto (my dog, he was very small, only about 35cm shoulder height) came over and very carefully and slightly sniffed on Reito (who'S a DZ Hid, so he's just 45cm in height as well). It was so cute. Gepetto looked as if he was a bit scared of that weird little human. Then he looked at me and soon walked away again, laying down in his dog bed and watching us from afar with his big brown eyes. It was too cute!
My dog likes to protect my dolls while im sewing clothes or working on props and things. Looks like he's figured out that they're special to me
Awe these are so sweet! Here is Rosie cuddling Henry... she always try’s to cuddle with him during photo shoots and I always have to shoo her out of the room but I was distracted with taking a photo of another doll and Rosie saw her chance...
All the posts about dolls and pets are really heartwarming and interesting My dog, Honey loves taking pictures with my BJDs. She doesn't bother to sniff them and most probably presumed that they are her accessories or backdrops for her personal photoshoots . Here are some pics of her and my dolls. Honey by Angelia Wong, on Flickr Honey by Angelia Wong, on Flickr honey by Angelia Wong, on Flickr I do hope that you would like them. Have a great weekend !
I don't have any photos of it, but my cats are obsessed with my dolls. I don't know why - maybe it's the resin smell? luckily they haven't chewed on them, but I used to keep my dolls on a lower level to create a little home area for them, and I kept coming into the room to find my cats asleep in the doll laps, what made it even funnier is that the doll's hand had fallen to look as if they'd been petting my cat(s), lol! But, I was kind of worried about the possibility of my cats chewing on my dolls or knocking them over, so I've moved them away. now they get very little interaction with them unless I sit on the floor and work on them. (I am the fun destroyer.)
This happened to me during a photo session for Yuri, i had him in the chamomilles, when i saw Pamela (my mother´s mare) in the screen, i took this photo the moment before running to my boy. She was so courios but gentle too. Sadly she passed away last december , this is one of the last photos of her.
I am so sorry for your loss. This is truly one of the most beautiful and magical photos I have ever seen. Such a gorgeous horse. My cats always like to be involved with everything, so of course, my dolls are no different. They will definitely lay on them when given the opportunity, which is usually, very cute. I know I have photos somewhere, but have never tried to reload all the pics I emailed myself off my last computer before it died.
I'm deeply saddened by your lost. Both Yuri and Pamela are really beautiful. It's a lovely and rare shot
I don’t currently have any house pets but I once had a few funny encounters with my aunt’s cats when I visited her with dolls in tow. Elizabeth the cat normally held claim to the guest room, so I was obliged to share it. I accidentally left one of my boys sitting cross-legged on the bed one day instead of out of reach. When I came back I found Elizabeth curled up with as much of herself in his lap as possible. No damage, she just wanted to cuddle. The same cat had a real problem with another of my dolls, though. She would puff up and stare with sniffer working overtime if she saw him and once when I brought him within a few feet of her (non threatening, just happened to have him on my arm) she suddenly hissed and bolted. ... creepy.
Not directly with my bjd's, but associated with them! My kitten loves to explore when I'm making eyes or wigs for them, he loves the yarn and alpaca fiber and will generally sit on the desk and watch me and behave. One day I left my wefts out drying for a new wig and when I came back they were gone, only to be found stuck to the kittens side as he walked by had to re glue all of them and get all the glue out of his fur! Good thing it was only elmers Keep wig making away from cats!
My dog when he was alive, would sometimes sniff their shoes if they had been outside but for the most part left them alone. When I got my first doll I had her ride on his back and he didn't even flinch. XD One time, I was taking a biiig Christmas photoshoot in our living room and Yugi just sat at the opening like he was making sure no one was bugging his girl while she played with her strange mini humans. XD He would also lay by my feet while I was sewing. I'd be sitting there for up to two hours and he'd have his legs wrapped around one of my ankles and not letting me stand up. He honestly left the dolls alone, he never had any interest in them and I never put them directly near him. He was an awesome dog.
Not really a specific interaction, but my chickens are all incredibly apprehensive of my dolls. Usually, they'll cluster around me looking for treats but if I'm outside with a doll they keep their distance. Apparently, tiny humanoids make them nervous. It would be easy to desensitize them (they'll do anything for food) but it's sort of nice not having to worry about them photobombing me all the time.
@Alchemical Chickens!! That's so awesome! Chickens are sooooo cute! My rabbit tries to get my dolls to pet her. She nudges their hands to the top of her head then looks at them expectantly.
My dog is getting old and needs to hop on the ottoman to get on the bed instead of taking one big jump, but I left a doll sitting on the ottoman and he was like tapping the ottoman with his paws like "get out of the way kid, I want to get on the bed!" Pooki treats dolls like children. Tiny humans he doesn't really like. Lol.
@Alchemical I love chickens so much they are so fluffy and adorable and the thought of them being so apprehensive of the dolls makes me smile
My cat's obsessed with doll boxes. Not the big ones they get shipped in. The actual boxes the dolls are cushioned in. Her favorite one is the Luts one. It's right next to the Migidoll one, but she doesn't pay that one any mind... Unless she's stepping over it to get to the Luts one. She's usually stretched out on it. I think it's the cushions they use. It doesn't seem to damage the doll any, so I mostly don't mind. Except for the one time I took my Delf out, she tried to jump IN the box. I'm sure she was very disappointed when I gently admonished her for it. She doesn't do this for any other boxes! I don't understand!
My cat loves to chill in the dollhouse And make a mess there too (shoes everywhere. I should be glad she does not play with them or I would never find them again.)
Okay so my one doll (not professional bjd but still this is funny) has like really frizzy hair. My cat was on my bed while I was doing a faceup, and my cat starts playing with the hair which is moving around as I blush her. I laugh and finish, putting the doll away, and just go to sleep. But then I hear a bang and a rattle, and something clangs all around the room. I turn the light on to see this blur shoot across the floor. When it finally stops I see it's my cat, with the doll's hair around her neck like a cape. She was running around with the doll behind her, freaked out it was "chasing" her! Still funny to this day.
Usually I keep my dolls in my room, away from pets, but lately I have had one or two dolls with me while watching stuff with my housemate in the evening. My cat loves them. I would set them on the couch in a place that wasn’t “his spot” but then he would gently paw at one until I move them. Then he lays where they were and starts purring when I lean them against him, usually falls asleep shortly after. Then this happened last night, he put his head in Kira’s lap before falling asleep. Kira is my Volks MSD Shinshiya / F-12
