My first BJD was a Pocket Fairy Mini May and I still own her along with two other Pocket fairies. Would not buy more but still like the ones I have. So I got the one I wanted as my first BJD. My first larger BJD was a Volks Tohya that I still own but want to have faceup someday as I find him too immature.
I'm going to be a little blunt; sorry about that. ^_^; The first time I ever heard of BJDs was in the book Japan Ai, which talks about a Volks convention, and I kind of thought the whole thing sounded insane. I mean, if you have to money to blow on such an expensive hobby, why not, but that would never be me. (Of course, my perspective has done a 180 now; I think they're completely worth it, though in the back of my head I still have this guilty feeling... >_>) Then about 3 years later I saw some Kid Delfs, and I loved all of them. They seemed the perfect mix of looking human but still essentially like a doll; I was in awe. ^_^ The one that really stuck with me was Hodoo, and he's the one I ended up buying 6 months later. I wouldn't trade him for any other doll. ^_^
The first one I wanted was an old fullset Delf El. The first one I got was mnf seorin. ( I love FL and CP ) NOW I have an El too :3 Not the full set, but the el.
When I first started getting into BJDs back in '07 all I wanted more than anything else was a Migidoll Ryu. I got turned off though because somebody had told me they were really hard to find and not in production at that point which really discouraged me. So I gave up on the dream getting my boy. A year later I took the plunge and got myself a Supia Roda as my first doll that was also around the time I joined up here on DoA and discovered the Marketplace... And got myself a second hand NS Ryu. I was totally over the moon! Nowdays I've long since sold my Roda who I didn't bond well with and still have my beloved Ryu so all's well that ends well
I got into BJDs about two years ago, and I thought they were amazing and beautiful, but I never thought about actually getting one. Until a little over a month ago I saw Shinydoll Suzune. And I fell in love. Completely. I needed her. And now she's sitting next to me. In my case, all went well and I got the doll I really wanted to be my first.
The very first ABJD I fell in love with was a Dream of Doll Shall. That was like 5 years ago now. When I finally made the leap and ordered my first doll, I went with a Supia Rosy after a lot of debate. Just fell in love with her and couldn't resist. I also think that in the past 5 years of looking at dolls, my sense of aesthetics for them has changed a bit. I am less attracted now to the more anime-ish faces and looks, and more attracted to the realistic end of the BJD spectrum.
The first doll I ever came across, the first doll I wanted and also the doll of my dreams (hur hur no pun intended) Was Homme Ducan by Dream of Doll. I knew nothing about BJDs, and I was completely stunnned. So i looked into it more and more and decided, "all right! I'm gonna get a doll" But mind you I was 13 or 14 at the time (can't remember) so I was undoubtably... lacking in the money departement. And I was wearnig because i though Geez!! He's so big and expensive!! Those were my two problems, largeness and the cost, keep that in mind as I say... The first doll I actually got, was a Soom MD Monzo xD!! Almost double Ducan, and bigger! But hey I can't stop love! I wrote in my note book over and over again "I want Monzo, I wan Monzo" I had to give in and ask my parents for a loan so I could get him. Still haven't gotten my Ducan... keep being able to, but they getting other dolls intstead. It's because I want to get him and his brother at the same time, so I loose the will not to blow the money I've saved up on one doll as soon as I have enough.
Since I am on a tight budget, I was almost 100% sure that my first doll would be an BBB Mei, I fell in love with the sculpt and thought I could definitely afford her. But when I finally had the money to purchase my first BJD I shopped around and found Mint on Card and Asleep Eidolon. I fell for Coral at first but when I searched for owner pictures of her I fell for Blueberry and she became my first BJD. Once I open her I just fell out of love with Mei and Coral and can't see myself purchasing those sculpts in the future.
I wanted a SweetBunny Ante, ordered a Lati Yellow Pumpkin Coco, and bought a Pukifee Bonnie from the MP. She arrived today (and I got Coco's shipping notice two days ago!). I adore my little Bunny (Bonnie's name) already. I wonder how I'll react to Coco.
The first one I wanted was sold out completely to a select few. Still can't find her either, people are holding on to her hard. The second one I wanted I got on the spot. It was the last one Michelle
First doll I've fallen in love with was a Luts Breakaway. I never had the chance to buy one after five years of collecting dolls and 15+ dolls. He's still on my wishlist though. My first doll was an Iplehouse SooRi fullset. I still have him and he's still my favorite after all the dolls I bought. He went through a lot with me and was my guinea pig on every step I took learning about dolls. We've been together for 5+ years and he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
First bjd I wanted was a KDF Ani girl. I got an AOD tiny instead because she was cheaper, didn't like her, sold her, and got a puki. I don't want the KDF anymore but I still have the picture of Ani that I originally fell in love with.
The first doll who stole my heart was Luts Kid Delf Bory. I was a doll of my friend's girlfriend and firs ABJD I ever saw that close. The first doll I got is Luts Kid Delf Cherry, and it was kind of accident I bought it. One doll hobbyist was selling it on a Finnish ABJD site and it was love at first sight. I still own that mold, only that I've chanced it for a newer one because the first was pretty yellowed and old and worn out.
Dollpire - Victor Lou, but I got Resinsoul - Mei. Not that I am complaining, I love her, I still want my vamp though, maybe one day. Mai was less expensive, I didn't want to blow all my money, on a more expensive doll and regret it later.
First doll that stole my heart was Shall in 2005. While I didn't get a bjd till this year, my taste had also changed, however I still think she is very pretty. The first bjd I ever ordered is Littlefee Ante packed full of tiny power!
The first doll I ever wanted was the last one my friend showed me while she was trying to needle me into the hobby. That was... the Souldoll Clara. She ended up being the first doll I ever bought. She's still my only doll, though she'll have (many) friend(s) over the next few years.
The first doll I wanted badly was the HZ WangYe. I was just new to DoA, but I ended up researching more and more about him, but my taste seemed to suddenly change - He was one I liked IU realized, but not 'The One'. Only two weeks later after finding WangYe, I stumbled across Centaur Dolls and others that are animal/like. It was love at first site with these types of dolls. I found Angelheims Raul on their website re-released, and I just ordered him yesterday :3 I think when I get the money, and don't have a doll I really want, I would consider WangYe. I really dont like that he can't bend using his stomach, and that its all one peice. Maybe one day i'll get over it :3
The first doll i ever loved was DOD tender shall, way back in '05 >: But when I finally got her in '10, I loathed her so much that I had to sell her for fear of deliberately destroying her.
the first doll i really wanted is Apollo from Bobobie instead i brought Nangong from Doll Family. I love my Nangong and thinking about if i should buy Apollo or a girl bjd.
My first bjd dream was a Camine from Dream of Doll and it was my first doll too. And he's still at home with me.
13thMuse, I was the exact same way!! My friends all had bjds but I always thought that they were creepy/weird. I didn't understand their photostories either, and after I found out how expensive they were, it made me think worse of them. I believe it was only because our perfect doll was out there waiting for us. I was google searching and ran across the Elfdoll Alice Cherry Blossom and fell in love immediately. (How could you not?) Unfortunately, she was out of stock for about two years by then. So I settled for an Ophelia Licorice. But then, by weird circumstances, I ended up owning the Alice first. She is my first and my favorite! Wow, arcadegel, you were so young. I'm really glad that you were able to finally receive a doll. I love animal dolls too, SoulAnimal. ^_^
The first doll I wanted was DIM Odelia 2008. I saved and saved for her and when I finally had enough, I went to DIM's site and saw three new happy sized girls up for pre-order, one being DIM Flowne. I went for Flowne and haven't regretted it. I still like Odelia, but not badly enough to want to bring her home.
The first doll I ever wanted was a Dollstown Seola boy. But when I started in 2007, he was too expensive for me and he was sold out for a very long time. I thought I missed my chance to ever get him. My first doll was a Luts Kid Delf Mill, which I loved at first sight too. But still less than Seola... Finally AnJongHak released the new version of this doll. I had to sell some of my dolls to afford my Seola and the day I had enough money, I ordered him. Each dolls bought before him are gone today. He's still there, still one of my favourite dolls ever. I like the fact he is my oldest doll home.
Interesting topic I'd been looking into dolls for a little while since my sister bought them, and one day she showed me the soom silt that had just been released. it was instant love! I loved the style and it was right up my street and I finally decided I wanted to buy a doll, and that was the one I wanted to get. It turned out I couldn't afford silt whilst it was on the wesite so I waited a few months for it to finally appear on the market place...to which it was really taking its time! by then I really wanted a doll and ended up purchasing a soom Alk in bits as I adore that sculpt but no less than a two weeks or so later I found a silt on the market at a decent price and bought it right away! I was so happy and didn't want to miss out on the chance to get one. so, i ended up having my first two dolls arrive within about a month or so of each other xD Im definitely glad I bought this little one. she is so adorable and a beautiful sculpt!
The first BJD I knew I wanted was Volks SD13 Mimi, but she was the fifth I brought home. I thought I wanted a girl to start with, but I kept looking at the boys! And I had never been into boy dolls before. Volks Kohya was almost the first BJD I bought, but after watching an ebay auction for one close at over $1000, I figured he was out of my price range. Right after his auction was over, I went to Volks Japan and started looking yet again... and purchased SD13 Link. Mainly because he was the least feminine looking boy there! Hiro was my very first BJD, and he is still my favorite. My taste in BJDs hasn't changed either, even after six years. I still prefer the less realistic, more anime looking BJDs, and always choose the ones that look best with Hiro. Linda S. galatia9
Well, I have a complicated route. I still love most all of the dolls I did at the beginning. I first wanted a CROBIDOLL Y's B, but decided he was too expensive for me. So I looked around and liked DOD's En, Fairyland's Chicline El, Ringdoll Sol, VOLKS Minoru kamimura, Rickydoll Helios... and was about to buy DF Lingfeng. After looking at owner pictures of Lingfeng, I realized I didn't like him anymore because of his lips, and entered lottery for Minoru. Well, I lost. I ended up just circling back to CROBIDOLL xD. But I got Jun~ because Jun is my dream doll. Well, I still want Sol, Minoru and El ; u ; omg Minoruuuuuuuuu WHY WERE YOU LIMITED>>>>
The first doll I ever wanted was a Volks Kun. My first (newly arrived) doll, is Feeple 65 Chloe. Its been years since I first wanted Kun but Chloe was a quickish decision based on that I've been loving the looks of all their sculpts and jointing systems.
The first doll that I fell in love with was DOD Elf Black Ducan. But then waited too long and by the time I was ready to get him he was long sold out. Then I fell in love with Homme Ducan and Sha. I then after a period of more waiting I got Sha as a gift. I fell in love with him and am very happy that I have him. I am still planning on getting Homme Ducan soon once I come up with the funds for him. And hopefully one day I will come across a Elf Ducan. If anyone knows anyone who has one they want to see Please let me know
The first doll I fell in love with was a bobobie apollo, and I got him too, but I sold him about a year or two later because I no longer liked him.
the first doll i truly fell in love with, was Iplehouse's Gentle SooRi. of course, at over $500, he was way out of my reach, but i never gave up hope of owning him. eventually, i decided that getting something a tad cheaper would be better, as a first doll. of course, i now own a Gentle SooRi head, on a different body, so it's not TOO far from what i wanted.
Well the doll I wanted in the very beginning when i first was learning about them(about a year or two years ago) was a PukiPuki Piki. Then I wanted a PukiPuki Ante. Then a bit later I decided I'd rather get an MSD and I'd decided on an IH Ryan. I ended up changing my mind again about a year ago and I'd decided I'd get a KDF Bory boy instead. I ended up ordering Bory. :]
First doll I wanted, a Delf if. She was SO insanely pretty in my eyes and perfect. But I wanted a boy so I ordered yder. Got him...and dislike the heck out of him. He sat in a box for a year before on one day someone contacted me willing two buy the Yder heads (sleeping and awake) AS WELL as someone contacted me offering me an IF head (with faceup) It was like an indirect trade! Money came in and the exact same money went out. So I ended up with my first love...just in a different gender. XD He's my IF boy now~
I'm horribly indecisive! Over and over I go searching through different doll websites, looking and comparing..... I really thought that DOD Homme Ducan would be the one... Then it was a Crobidoll Yeon-ho... Now i'm thinking a Migidoll Cho.... Which leads to the issue of actually choosing a doll! Because of this comparing and horrible indecisiveness, I've yet to find my first doll.... Many of the sculpts have similar traits, it's hard to narrow it down to the one you love the most. Makes me feel like I"m going in circles and I'll never find my dream doll! J/k I'll find him, it just might take a while....
First bjd I ever wanted was the DollZone wing 2, a nice big SD sized boy. After seeing my friends SD boy I was like "I want one!" Bu I ended up getting a third hand DollZone Nina who needed a lot of love. I have spent a good £150 on her to sort her out but I am glad I did. Shes amazing and I wouldnt give her up for anything. I am trying to save for Wing2 but I keep seeing different dolls! Lol. I have three now, and plan on more.
Haha, the first doll I ever wanted was a Dream of Doll Code.02, but that was when i was a total noob lol. After getting and learning a bit more in the hobby I wanted a Crobidoll Lance. (why is it that I always pick the most expensive molds lol XD). But somehow I ended up getting a Kizdoll Vince (with my budget and all) and I have to say, I love him
The first BJD i ever wanted i now have no desire to own. The first time i came across BJD's i loved the Minifee Chiwoo but there was no way i could afford him. A few years later and i got my first BJD a Resinsoul Feng, who i absolutely adore. Chiwoo is cute...but not cute enough for me to bring him home...
The first doll I really wanted to get? Probably a Dollmore Pado boy but I ended up getting a DZ Mo-2 fullset[which is much more expensive!!] as my first doll. I didnt like him as much after I received him but kept him around for about 2 years and sold him on later. My tastes have really changed/matured since three years ago and the dolls I like before, I'm like "meh" about them now. For dolls I dislike before; I WANT THEM.
The first doll I ever wanted was a Crobidoll Nia. At the time he was out of my price range so I did some more looking around and found Doll Family LingFeng and decided to get him as my first. That's not how it worked out though. XD A friend of mine happens to be a dealer and one day I was looking at the dolls she had for sale, and I fell in love with the 5 Star doll Emma she had. The Emma was an impulse buy, but I don't regret it one bit.
First BJD I wanted was DoD Sha several years ago but I didn't buy him because I wanted my first doll to be an incarnation of a dear character of mine. For years, I patiently waited for the perfect size and sculpt... until Fairyland released the LittleFee Shiwoo and I just knew that I found "the one". LTF Shiwoo is still with me and to keep him company is his twin, another LTF Shiwoo (girl). My tastes have greatly changed and I no longer want Sha or anything of similar size.
It think the first BJD I felt like I wanted to buy was a Luts SDF Rei. He was the prettiest doll I'd ever seen until I laid my eyes on SOOMs Heliot.. Tough my first BJD became a SOOM doll, not even a SD but an MSD. NOw I'm waiting for my SOOM MD Trond
I remember the first doll I ever wanted was an Isao Nanjou by Volks. (I especially loved his wig, lol) But I kinda gave up wanting to own him, because I didn't see any Isao on the mktplace then. Anyway I fell in love with a Juri 07A from Luts later, after seeing a faceup artist's work on one. I really liked that sculpt and kept going back to see the pic which the artist uploaded ^^;; Well I managed to find one on the mktplace then, although at a really high price, but decided to just get him because I knew I really wanted him. But I guess tastes and preferences change over the years- I've now listed my first boy for sale, and I don't think I'll want to get an Isao now. That's how it is with dolls I guess, but Isao will be the first doll I wanted and Juri 07A will be the first doll I got
The first doll I ever wanted was Luts Kid Delf Bory, and I still don't have him. My first doll was a Bobobie Tony, who I enjoyed for nearly three years and then sold recently. I decided to get Tony because I was uncomfortable spending a lot of money (not that Bory is expensive, but at the time, he seemed expensive to me) and I could order him from a dealer in the US to save even more money. Plus I thought the sculpt was cute, despite being unpopular. My problem now is that unless something's limited or on sale or on the MP, I don't buy it. I know Bory will always be waiting, so there's no rush to get him.
Luts Honey Delf MUFFIN was the first BJd I pined for. I still find it ever so adorable, and would love to own him someday. ^_^ The second, even, is a Bobobie March, which I find ever-so precious! However, I just bought my first BJD- and it's a Dollzone Fei Girl. I saw the pictures in the marketplace, and fell in love. Muffin is something to aspire too (and not the only one! haha) and March may be next, but for now, I'm super happy and super excited about the DZ Fei. ^__^
When I first discovered bjd's I was straight onto the Volks site (because I wanted to know where Uno from Mistula came from) and a fawned over all the lovelies on offer but none of them created that spark. A year later I discovered Soom and made an instant promise to myself to get a Kanoa . . . after getting a job and saving up. That same day I promised myself that right after I had my Kanoa I would do the whole saving process for a D.O.I Luke and then after more saving a Delf El. Two years later after much yearning for resin and a lot of company website hopping I stumbled onto the Customhouse site, hummed and hawwed for a good few months and when I discovered they were having a sale I impulsively bought a Junior Ai Marco. I'm really glad about that impulse decision, it threw my saving plans way off, but my dollie fund will grow again eventually (if I stop impulse buying haha)
The first BJD I ever wanted was a Fairyland Puki Puki Sugar in natural skin....about 6 months later though, I decided on Pukifee Bonnie, which I loooove, and got her. I'm about 4 dolls in and yes, I finally got my Puki Puki Sugar!! And a Limited ed. Chocopuki Sugar no less!! I absolutely love all my "doll babies" and think I'm extremely lucky to have all I wished for. BTW, My first wishlist consisted of Puki Puki Sugar, Puki Puki Piki, PKF Bonnie, then a PKF Zoe. Funny how things work out, because I have all within a year and never thought I'd be able to get more than one, much less in less than a year! Now, I still have a wishlist but because I'm undecided where my $$$ will go towards, and what my plans are for a next one (since I got most of what I wanted) I'm holding off until I find a doll that's too irresistible to let go...
First doll I fell in love with was Iplehouse Lee, but he was way too expensive and I wanted to start with a smaller doll. My first doll sort of fell into my lap, as I bought him off my best friend who didn't fall in love with him when she got him. Angelheim Raul was my first, as I thought he was absolutely irresistible! Maybe some day, if I ever have a thousand bucks to drop on a doll, I might get Lee. We'll see about that. :P
The first ABJD I ever wanted was a CP El - because that's the first ABJD I ever saw. It was one owned by a friend, and when I went to see her table at a convention in '05, she introduced me to him. Since then it's been a lovely obsession! When I visited the Eluts site, I quickly fell even deeper in love with Lishe, and now I have my Fawne and 8 others. - Lauren
When I found these dolls I did a massive search about doll companies and found Rosy by Supia. When I saw her pictures I though that she is the one. But I didn't know much about these dolls way back then and later on I decided that MSD is my size (for the first doll at least). And now, after three months I've ordered my first doll, Luts Ani girl. She is not like Rosy, not at all but I guess that's because my taste of dolls has changed. Not that I don't like Rosy or SD size anymore.
I fell in love with Homme Ducan the second I saw him on the DoD homepage, which was the first bjd website I went on. I think it was his hair that caught my attention, and as a newbie, I was paying more attention to his outfit and wig. (Which was styled in an awesome way.) Then as I researched more and more, I learned to love him for his sexy face. xD
The first doll I fell in love with was a Illusion Spirit Zhu Quing. I just...disliked him more as I looked at him :/ The first doll I got (ordered on monday) was a ResinSoul Li, I just couldnt get enough of her sculpt! I just find her sculpt so intresting. Im saving up for a second doll now He will be an SD Sized Ringdoll, (not sure which one though, I love all of Ringdoll's dolls!!)
Originally I was looking at MSD dolls and saw a couple I liked, the Fairyland Minifee Ruth being the best and I planned on getting him. However, I then stumbled upon the Migidoll Ryu and fell in LOVE! I knew I had to have that doll, so I saved some money and get the rest for my birthday! He is my first doll. (:
Mh the first BJD I ever wanted was... a KDF Bory boy and he's my first doll ! When I saw this sculpt, I just fell in love. 2 years after that, when I was able buy my first BJD, I chose him
The first BJD I ever wanted was Elfdoll Sooah. She was so big compared to the fashion dolls I had been collecting and so much more expensive that I didn't order her at first. The first one I got was Souldoll Linn. After all this time she is still one of my favorite sculpts. The first one I actually ordered is OT here, but she was delayed in production and so Linn and Sooah both arrived before her.
my first doll experience was buying a Pullip. I thought wow - there's a doll with joints and she's soo poseable lol ... I had NO idea then about BJD's!!! Browsing flickr and the shop where I bought my Pullip etc. I found a small doll who was chubbier but lovely: my first BJD - a Jun Planning Ai, Torenia. Thinking she was such a great doll - esp. her size ... I'm into everything small and tiny I was searching for other Ai's on flickr. Well ... it wasn't much! When I wanted to order clothes from her I saw a beautiful doll I had never seen before who was modeling. She was perfect - her face, eyes, wig - her body. She was a Fairyland Ante Elf. This was my first true BJD-love though when I found her I thought I'd never pay so much for a DOLL! Seeing so many FL dolls I couldn't resist any longer and tried to buy a Puki Pong (11cm - my size) ... but I never got her out of my head! So one day I just knew: I have to get her!!! And now I own my very first true BJD love!! I love the size and couldn't imagine to ever own such a biiiig doll (MSD, SD) ... well, I own my first love, my grail is unfortunately the sold out Soom Monzo!!!! Reading your stories here ... well ... maybe -one day ... I'll own my grail, too!!
The first BJD I ever wanted, wanted so bad it hurt, was a DoC Homme Duncan. I still want him. I fell in love with the sculpt, the default company faceup, and everything. Instead, my first doll turned out to be an AoD Chi, because I could buy him in person (bought secondhand at Oni-con) and he didn't completely drain my wallet. And the second doll I'm getting won't even be him, and he is a heck of a lot bigger than the MSDs I initially fell in love with. He's actually quite far down on the list now, sadly.
I wanted Limhwa Mano but got BBB Chun first... she was in my price range and was available NOW! 20 dolls later.. I still never got a Mano. I'm ok with that.
The first BJD I wanted was IH Carina. I ended up with some others that I wasn't happy with/smaller MSD size. Just recently I received Dollzone Stramonium and loving her. I still want an IH but have changed from Carina to having a hard time deciding between about 4 and various sizes. So for now Star (as I call my Stramonium) is enough.
Mine was a Binli, Dollzone. It was because I was mesmerized by the way her owner portrayed her in a deviantArt gallery. She is a fairly modest sculpt. [A LONG OFF-TOPIC STORY....;.....] ~LATER... I had a couple of dolls and was getting in the groove BIG time. I searched on eBay, as I wasn't allowed in the DoA marketplace yet, and to my surprise she was there, for sale! That guy could have gotten a lot of money out of me in a bid war. Fortunately no one else was interested. I got her for a sweet price. Now I have to resist copying the other owner's Binli that did all this to me. This doll is the first one I have given a written story to. She is going to be the topic for an artist-trading-card, or ATC swap going on here in dA currently. Despite her modest physical presence among the crowd at my house now, I still see this knowing look on her face. She KNOWS she did this to me. The first one I dared buy was from someone I became close friends with in dA. She is a AoD Quin and my friend did a beautiful job on her face and body blushing. I don't feel like I could even change her name. My friend called her "Glory" and she will remain "Glory"...Ended up have meaning as my first ownership experience. Glory is extra special for her own qualities, and most of all because of the connection to my friend who was the human influence that "created the monster" that I am today. HALP!! Where is the abj-a-holics thread?
Opps. My finger muscle memory typed dA in my comment where DoA should be, regarding the ATC swap.
