The first BJD you ever wanted vs the first BJD you got.

Aug 28, 2010

    1. In 2004 I stumbled onto the Volks website with no prior knowledge of BJDs and imediately fell in love with SD13 Kohya. At the time I never thought I would be able to spend hundreds of dollars on a doll even though I thought they were 100% worth it so I put it out of my mind for the next year. Then in 2005 I found DoA and sort of went "you know what? I'm gonna get one" but by then the limited Kohya was long since sold out. I just sort of went "well that sucks" and went on with my doll collecting life. I ended up saving up for and buying a Luts Yder which was just released and I was also enchanted with.

Years later I saw a Kohya for sale on the marketplace it it was like oh yeah! :o So I finally bought him.

Anyways my question to you guys is what was the first bjd you ever wanted? Was it the doll that ended up being your first? Did you or didn't you ever get that doll you originally wanted? (and if not then what made you decide that?)

*edit* Since this was moved to the games forum, post pictures! :D

    2. The first doll that made me go "Oh wow!" was Dollfie Dream Saber. However, she was really just the start of oggling. The first one that I really fell for hard was DD Fate T. Harlaown. She's the perfect blend of beauty and cuteness to me, though DD Nanoha, who shares her headmold and just has a different faceup, does naturally come pretty damn close to her. On the other hand, I spent a lot of time plotting possibilities, and one idea I had floating around was to make a custom of Agatha Heterodyne from Girl Genius using the DDDy body. When I saw a thread on the marketplace selling a DDDy with two outfits and three wigs, one of which was surprisingly close to Agatha's hair, for a price I could actually afford, I pounced.

On the other hand, even though Agatha's only been here two months, mad scientists need minions! So someday in the future, if the aftermarket price hasn't inflated to hideously in the meantime, I do intend to snag a Fate/Nanoha. I'll probably go for a head/body sale, though, rather than fullset, because what I've read about the weapons of those two girls isn't particularly encouraging to say the least, and in Fate's case her outfit is stain city.

    3. The first doll I absolutely fell in love with was a DOT Camine. (At this time I was also under the impression that DoD was the only doll company out there; I didn't even know Volks existed, which is sad.) I saved for a long time, and put aside all of my 16th birthday money, and eventually did have enough. Unfortunately I never ended up getting him because my parents thought I was crazy to spend that much money on a doll; it would have been me giving them the money I saved, and then using their credit card, so they always supervised any online shopping that I did.

3 Years later, and i've moved out and now support myself, so they have no say in my purchases! Soom dolls are really what pushed me over the edge to finally buy my first, so I ended up getting a Soom Ai for my first doll. I've since fallen out of love with Camine, and I don't think I would get him now because there are other sculpts that appeal to me more, but I still have a special place for him in my heart.

    4. I fell in love with Homme Ducan years ago but never chased after him because I thought it'd be impossible for me to do enough art commissions in a decent amount of time to be able to afford him.

I got a RS Ni for my birthday this year. I have no complaints but now I'm trying to save up for Homme Ducan because I feel it CAN be possible since I was able to afford a Pukifee with extra accessories for nearly $300 doing art commissions and selling stuff on a game.

    5. I initially wanted two at the same time -- Luts Delf Miyu and Luts Delf El. It was hard to decide between them but since I had more ideas for a female character at the time, I got the Miyu first. She became Harumei. Ryuuki, my second doll, was the El I had also wanted at the beginning.

    6. The first BJD I ever saw was a Soom Topaz and Amber in a Haute Doll magazine. I was floored by how amazing they were and so I looked up the Soom website only to find that they were long, long sold out (cue sad face :(). So I was discouraged and spent hours on the Soom website looking at there dolls. I had just missed the sale if the Ai's and Afi's so that upset me further. But it was love at first sight and Soom has captivated me since!

So needless to say the first doll I bought was a Soom Breccia, who I feel is better for me than Amber or Topaz would have been. I don't think I can imagine ever being without her.

    7. The first doll I wanted was Volks Nono... I came across BJDs in about 2003 or maybe 2004, had a brief daydream of owning one, almost bid on a secondhand Nono on eBay, and ended up deciding that BJDs were way too expensive for me and I'd probably never own one.

Of course, a few years passed and I made friends who owned BJDs... XD I really loved Peaks Woods Wakeup Cue and Blue Fairy May Valentine, but I was a bit hesitant to buy either- I thought the PW doll would be too big and wasn't 100% sure about her, and the BF was super expensive (about twice the price of one of their standard dolls with wig, eyes, and outfit included). My first BJD was a different Blue Fairy doll, but since then I've managed to buy both Wakeup Cue and May Valentine. In fact, all of my dolls except one (a limited released a bit later on) were ones I wanted before I ever bought my first BJD.

Will I ever get that very first BJD I wanted, Volks Nono? Probably not. I still think Nonos are awfully cute, but the hobby has changed since then with so many new companies and sculpts, and my taste has changed as well. But the dolls I first wanted when I rediscovered the hobby are ones I'm very happy to finally have. :)

    8. The fist BJD I saw was a Volks' Shirou Tachibana, although I didn't think
I "want him," he was what got my interest in these dolls started. The first doll I
ever got was a VDES/DD-hybrid, but I just got her because she had fangs & a tongue (vampire sculpt).
Then SoulDoll released their first LE Paris and I fell madly in-love! A regular
edition Paris was my second BJD, the first doll I truly felt I needed to own,
the one I thought of as my one-true-love, until I got my Limhwa Limho Mano
just a few years ago, whom seems to have become my newest obsession
(after I seriously considered selling him, just because his body didn't work for my
      Paris -- isn't life ironic?). ^ ^;;

    9. I don't really have a first doll that I ever wanted before I got my first doll. When I discovered ABJD, I thought I would never spend that much money of my own on a doll, but at that moment my parents asked me what I wanted as a graduation present. So I figured I could ask for a doll and then I had to figure out which doll I wanted. :sweat
From several dolls in the right size range I picked the one I liked best and looked like the best deal. (DoT Lahoo) Other candidates were Dollshe Saint (I have a Saint hybrid now) and Dollzone Yuu (no interest in getting one).

    10. The first doll I ever wanted was Volks SD13 Tony, I knew about BJDs for a while but never went beyond 'wow they look cool!' around 2004ish. Forward it two years and randomly stumbling around the internet when I was finding an inspiration for my art project I came across a few volks dolls and somehow (I think its the database) stumble across Volks Tony' page. I fell hard and really wanted one at that point. Knowing next to nothing about them, I thought I'll give Ebay a try, saw a Volks Tony on sale but his price at the time was way out of my comfort range. At that time, I hadn't even started my first job yet.

Then around the same time, I thought I'll keep looking and somehow found dreamofdoll and luts. I kind of never paid much attention to dreamofdoll and when I saw luts I wasn't too keen, still dreaming of the Volks Tony I saw before. Then I stumble across dreaming El, the picture of the white skin dreaming El, with pink faceup, long white hair and a white hat. He was the second doll I end up wanting.

In the end, I bought a DZ Mo as my first, I went past a DZ dealer in Hong Kong when I was visiting family. After seeing a Volks Tenshi on sale and the price I was just being curious and asked about the price. Found out DZs was more affordable to me, went on Edendoll doll and ended up with a Mo after a couple months of debating. After that and reading on DoA about saving for 'dream dolls' I ended up buying Tony and Dreaming El about a year or two into the hobby. When I completed my Tony, the feeling was amazing and surreal, I still can't believe he's mine.

    12. Echo the Volks senario. I can't even remember the doll's name but I couldn't get over how cute and real he looked. I think he was limited anyway, but I kept visiting the webpage and marveling. Fast forward years and the first doll I got was a BBB March. I actually like her better; my tastes have changed.

    14. The first one I really wanted was a Black Melody Narsha, I saw her on the Dollmore site and just died. Howitzer, being a noob I didn't get the whole "limited" thing, and buy the time it occurred to me to buy her, she was sold out. Sob. Happy ending though, I was able to get her second hand years later, through the kindness of another member who knew that I pined for her, so when yet another member was selling one, she let me know, and that is how I got my Amarantha.
The first one I got however was a Fairy Elf Adel, from Elfdoll, my Esme. I wanted to start small, I was a little scared. Clearly that did not last.

    15. I really want to buy Dollzone Cherry but I just got into college, have no work and still living w/ my family that has a lot of needs, I wasn't able to purchase her. Years later, I finally decided to save-up for her w/c I started just June last year. Actually, I have been planning but wasn't able to carry out my plans. ^_^; {Due to conventions, cosplays, manga and dvd!} Then my plans changed from buying Cherry to Dollmore's Ripley Days, as I really want to buy a guy doll, never had a guy doll before. When December came, I bought RSoD Michaelmas Sakura just because I saw her in a dream that was recurrent until last year. >.>

I'm currently thinking if I should get her this year or the next, or if I should ever get her. She's a really lovely doll but I think i'm currently full in terms of things to be taken care of. And i'm really happy w/ Miyoubi here, i'll be getting her a bff when I find a male doll that fits her built and size. :3

    16. The first dolls to get my attention were the SOOM monthlies and the Iplehouse circus characters. I'd just never imagined there could be such gorgeous dolls--like fantastic creatures from another world. But my first really knocked-out crush was the most breathtaking Dollshe Bernard, whose photo i saw in the June 2009 Haute Doll. When I told my BJD-collecting friends about him, they both laughed and said he'd probably cost me about as much as a small house. =( So I began looking around at other dollmakers, and that's how I found my next big crush, a Luts Delf "Dambi", who (merry Christmas!) became my first doll (that's him in my avatar pic).

*sigh* I love him to bits, but I still think about that Bernard...

    17. After finally seeing BJD's in the resin, I started haunting ebay. The first one I thought I wanted was an Ai Choa, but was outbid.
After noting doll company names, I began to visit sites and found CP Lishe. She was not then available, but not knowing about ordering periods, I sadly looked at others. I WANTED HER!
Eventually, she was again available, several weeks later she came to live with me and start my BJD family.

No longer do I have the least desire to buy Choa.

    19. It must had been fate for me to see my dream doll! I did not know about bjds at all until I went to AWA (anime weekend atlanta) in 2007. I found this room quite by accident too! I was kind of lost at the convention and saw this small room. Then I saw a boy bjd in some punkish clothes. :fangirl: It was sur-real and awesome!! I had to know more; so, I was given some information and websites to visit. I had problems with the first two websites; so, I tried the last one thinking it might not work. :(
That's when I saw these amazing dolls on the dream of doll website! I looked at so many of them; then I found him! You know when you see a bjd and you say to yourself, "That is my doll!" That is exactly what happen to me!X3 Sha D.O.T is the doll I've been looking for and wanting for so long. I had no way of buying him then; so, I would watch the site to make sure he was still there. I decide not to focus so much on him but later the desire come back to get him even more!X3 Now, I am happy to say I am waiting for him to come now!!!!=D:D My first bjd will be the dream doll I have always wanted!!!:whee::aheartbea

EDIT: I got my Sha and just love him so much!!!!:D D.O.D. is amazing and I am so super happy he is my first bjd!!!:aheartbea

    20. Oh interestng question. I really had to think about this because I barely remember...

I remember looking at the dolls primarily because Aernath was trying to find the perfect sculpt for her Ichigo and I was eagerly getting the "lay of the land", so to speak. There certainly weren't as many to look at, at the time. I don't remember which of us spied the Elfdolls at Denver Doll Emporium but I do know that both of us went "oooo" at Red. (I think it was probably her?). I ogled him and ogled him but thought "wow, so big and so much money!" She discovered Iplehouse and it was all over, but I wasn't sure how to proceed.

My first resin purchases ended up being a floating head (DZ Shuang) and my Yuki, a DZ Megi. And while I was thoroughly delighted with Yuki I couldn't get the Red out of my mind.

Fortunately for me, plastic speaks louder than words, and within the month Red came to my house -- and became Kenshin. He's here still and will likely always be.

    21. The first doll I ever really wanted I saw in someone's signature (in a forum not related to dolls) a few years ago.

I'm sure I would have tried to get this one for my first, but unfortunately I still don't know which one it was. The only thing I'm sure about is that it must have been a Volks mold (it just had .. that look), but that's it. Since I couldn't find that user again, it's needless to say, I didn't get the doll.
Instead I settled on a SDF Abadon .. which I also didn't get, because my Migi love kicked in and I bought several heads from her to be my first BJDs (or more .. BJD parts), and my Mono arrived at about the same time.

But I'm still trying to find out what doll that was back then, that got me interested in the hobby.

    23. The first doll I ever *really* wanted was a Soom Cuprit. I saw a few of Cuprit's pieces passing on the marketplace and thought--no, I'd never be able to afford her. Her hooves cost more than the doll I was looking at getting at the time (IMPL doll Christoper.)

Eventually as I became accustomed to paying outrageous prices for dolls I saw almost a fullset Cuprit pop up on the MP for $1200. I just had to buy her costume and eyes separately. I wound up putting another doll up for sale on the MP almost immediately and bought Cuprit :) I felt very fulfilled that my *dream doll* had come home finally.

Since then Soom's Amber and a few others have pulled on my heartstrings, but not quite like Cuprit did. A BIG part of why I eventually decided to spend that kind of money on a dolly was because she was the first doll I saw that I truly fell in love with, and the doll that is the pinnacle of my collection and what I aspire to build the rest of my dolls up to. Her costume and her soft but strong face just blow my mind. The fact that she is complete is another factor in keeping her in my collection, she reminds me to keep working on my other ladies.

    24. The first BJD I ever fell in love with was Limwha's Mano Elf. She had a perfectly gorgeous picture of him up on her website with auburn hair. But he was too expensive and by the time I'd accustomed myself (a couple of $200-$400 dollies later) to the idea that I was willing to save up and buy him, he was discontinued. I've only ever seen one Mano Elf on the forum in any event.

Finances are too tight right now, but one day, if I have the spare cash, I might put a WTB up and see if someone has my first dream doll and would be willing to part with him.

The first doll I ever got was my BBB Sprite, Fauna. She still rules the roost!

    25. I remember around 2004 I was doing random google image searches and I somehow found a website of dolls photos. I flipped through the photos and fell completely in love with F-16. At the time I didn't have any way to actually have a doll, but the thought of these insanely pretty dolls was always in the back of my head. Then a few years later I found an new upstart company from Korea called Doll In Mind. They only had 4-5 dolls at the time and I came across Persia. I fell for him even harder than F-16 and began saving my money.

Unfortunately by the time I'd made enough to buy him he was sold out. I was rather upset so I ended up buying some other things and almost completely forgot about dolls.

In 2006 my fire was lit again when I went to an anime convention and saw some dolls, and again in 2007 when I actually got to play with a couple. By October 2007 I bought my first doll, a DoT Sha. I don't have him anymore but I'm glad he was my first doll.

    26. The first doll I think I ever seriously wanted was a Luts Kid Delf Ani. From there, it bounced around to a couple different dolls, all of which were Kid Delf. I knew that I wanted my first doll to be a KDF because I love that line and would have been happy with any mold from it as my first doll, which made it really hard.
Then, along came the Luts summer event for this year, where they offered a free Kid Delf head with purchases over $150... I figured that was absolutely perfect, because I would be happy with any KDF, and this was the chance to get one for far cheaper.
Of course, it wasn't even really an impulse buy. I planned for her for a long time, and didn't buy one until the event pictures were released so I knew which wig and eyes to get and what to make her character.

Also I usually don't count my floating head as my "first doll" even though I got her before my full doll, but my choice at that point was a KDF Bory, until I saw that a mod artist I really liked had a modded head for sale on deviantART... I had enough money to cover it, so it was something along the lines of "Hey, that's so cool! *buys* Ooo, whoops... Did I really just buy that?!" So that one definitely WAS an impulse buy. But I don't regret it at all!

    27. I was first introduced to the dolls through another forum I used to go to, one of the members had a bluefairy Jerome they posted pictures of and a link to the bluefairy site. I thought they were pretty nifty but not something I'd ever spend that much money on.

... and then I stumbled across bluefairy's Special Niky. So I spent about a year saving every penny I could until I could afford him. I spent a lot of that time looking at cheaper dolls and considering settling for one of them, but I always ended up back at the Nikys page. Eventually I managed to get him and I've had Connor with me ever since :3

He's still the first doll I ever really wanted, and honestly if I had to do it all over again and could only ever have the one doll, I'd pick the Niky without a moments hesitation XD

    28. For me it was Soom's Beryl. She was the first doll that truly amazed me. I stumbled upon her page a couple of weeks after she sold out I beleive. Back then there was no way that I would have been able to spend that much money on a doll. So fast forward a couple of years and I eventually bought Soom's Ai as my first BJD.

Though Beryl had always remained my dream doll, so of course when Soom re-released her I didn't waste a second to buy her even though I didn't really have the money at the time. I've now payed off the debt she had left me with, and she sits proudly on my shelf :)

    30. The first doll I ever wanted was a Volks SD Kun. I saved up for a long time to get one, but by the time I had enough I started to question spending that much on a standardly available doll when I could get a limited MSD for nearly half the price. In the end I kind of got two first dolls; The first doll I ordered was a Volks MSD F-18 girl, but three days later I also bought a Volks MSD Toppi off the DoA marketplace, she arrived home first so I guess she was really more my first.

A little over two years after falling for Kun, I still love her but still don't own one. I may find myself with one in the next year or not, only time will tell. I certainly haven't lost interest in her, I'm just not sure if SDs are my thing at this point.

    32. The first one to really grab me was a limited version of Dollmore's Eva Louise. She had a much more mature look than many of the other dolls I had seen up until that point. Unfortunately, she was sold out by the time I discovered her.

Later, Dollmore released similar editions of other sculpts, and I wound up buying one of them as my first doll. She turned out to be so lovely that, even though Dollmore now sells their Model heads separately, which would allow me to buy an Eva Louise head, I have not had the urge.

    33. I did a LOT of research (and window shopping) for and before I got my first (full purchase) doll. I don't have characters already waiting for my dolls to fill so I let them tell me who they are. My decision on exactly which I wanted to get changed at least a hundred times before I did a double take on DollZone's Wing and found him more irresistable than others I've seen. XD (That and the fact that he got here four days after my order went through didn't help either of our cases. lol) He is amazing and I love him. <3 Even if he is extremely tall for such an Asian looking face and character.

I steered myself away from the really money-eating dolls (aren't they all though? ^^; ) for my first doll since I'm new at this hobby. But recently, I've been falling more and more for the SOOM MDs. SD ones. My goal now is to slowly piece together either a Heliot, Chrom or Chalco. With either hooves. @_@ Hopefully with little to no distractions in the form of my wanting to get more dolls from the marketplace. That place is dangerous, I tell you!

She was listed for sale on ebay in the wrong category and I had no idea there were others of her kind until she arrived at my house and I googled "Souldoll" after I saw the logo on her box. I've bought almost all the dolls I've wanted in the years afterward. Luckily, I don't want most of the ones I see.

    36. Around the end of 2006 I really found out about BJD's.

and the first two dolls i fell for back then were:
Buddydoll Mars & Luts Delf Soony.
But like with many people the price was a bit shocking at first (which has now completely changed)

When i finally bought my first BJD in march of 2008 they were alreaddy totally off the radar.
I had seen so many more dolls from so many company's by then,
and had decided to make a long time OC into a BJD.
So I ended up buying a Dollshe Saint (old version now) as my fist doll, And I love hem dearly.

Both Mars and Soony never made it to my home, somehow they just aren't for me anymore though I still like them.

    37. The first BJD that I really loved was Volks Suigintou. Needless to say, she is not a part of my collection. Certainly I could have saved up for her instead of buying all of the dolls that I currently have (which, with all the money spent on clothes, eyes, wigs, etc would give me enough for this amazing doll), but that would have been two years not enjoying this hobby.

There are no regrets of course. I really love the dolls I have, and in the mean time, I acquired one of my other (more attainable) dream dolls. I would eventually like to get Suigintou of course, but well, maybe once I finish school and have a decent job.

    38. The first doll I ever fell in love with was a CP El. He started my whole bjd craze. I ended up getting a BBB Apollo though because of the lowerprice. I didn't want to spend so much on something I wasn't sure I would stick with. Needless to say, I am trapped in this hobby like a fly on flypaper, and I love my Apollo ever so much, though I still want an El.

First doll I got was Iplehouse Tatiana, she's still beautiful. But I WILL have Sarang someday! :D

    40. I went crazy when I saw a Luts Senior Delf Kara. Now that I've seen other dolls (cough cough Iplehouse cough cough), I'm don't like her face as much as I did. I prefer my dolls more realistic.

The Ringdoll Wagashi that I've paid for is less expensive and (I think) FAR more beautiful.

    41. It was a Volks Scarface Cecile that was my first doll that made me seriously want to purchase my own, however it wasn't him specifically that I wanted. That is, I'd seen a small handful of BJDs from home-owner pics that were, sorry to say, rather ugly with tangled wigs and poor lighting, and I admit I was more embarassed of these dolls than interested. But when I found how beautiful Cecile was done up my interest was instantly piqued in perhaps that maybe these dolls weren't so bad after all and I really began to look around.

After quite a bit of searching I inevitably found myself continually drawn back to the Dream of Doll website and was torn between their DoT Ducan and DoC Kirill, and in the end Kirill won out as he looked remarkably similar to one of my RP characters whereas Ducan was more of a stretch. I was fixated on him as being 'the one' and nothing could have swayed me (although Ivan was very quickly creeping into my plans), and few months later he was on order as my very first. I never did end up saving for a Ducan as my tastes have changed, and while I still find him very pretty, he's not a doll I would want for my collection (also ironic as my Kirill will be sent out shortly for some further extreme facial modification, I suppose he's no longer my ideal either).

    42. The first doll that I ever wanted, I'm not 100% sure what sculpt it was either. I actually ran into it on a photography website (like a person's actual website) and they had a section for still life and I clicked on it and was really amazed at the shots of this beauty. I had seen BJDs before I saw these photos, but mostly only one's with eye decals...I'm fairly certain this was the first one I had seen with actual doll eyes. I was in love with it but never figured out the mold. And since then I've forgot the site name and everything.

The first doll I remember past then that I just fell head over heels for, was an Eijah from Alice in Labyrinth. I have yet to aquire him. I am overall very very pleased with my first doll. My first was a Tan Dollzone Mo, and I fell in love with him almost as much as the Elijah, and my love for the Mo hazed over my love for the Elijah so I decided to get the Mo first.

    43. The first BJD I really wanted was a Pipos Baha. I saw one while searching google for BJD's and that's also how I found out about DoA. The first BJD I actually ended up getting was a DZ Meigi, I thought the choice was better at the time because he could wear a wig and clothes were easier to find for the MSD size. I still do not have a Baha and am not sure I will ever get one because I completely fell in love with the Pipos Cheshire and think I would prefer him to the Baha :)

    45. I think Mabel from Leekeworld was the first one I really wanted, but I didn't look through each company very thoroughly and I was convinced that I could only afford one of the smaller sized dolls. In the end, I chose Luts Blanchet instead because I realized that most of my favorites (of the ones I had seen online) were around 60cm and I was really drawn to her more mature type of beauty.

I will most likely buy Mabel in the future. I still find her extremely cute and I really want a variety of sizes in my collection.

    46. I'm still pretty new to this hobby. But the first doll that I saw that I fell in love with was Crobidoll Nao. But at that time I thought spending that much money on one doll was kinda crazy so I started looking at different doll sites. In particular Dream of Doll, When I saw Doc Si I absolutely loved him already and I would've ended up only spent half the money on him that I would've on Crobidoll Nao. Also I knew my parents would never let me buy Crobidoll Nao as my first doll seeing as he's so expensive and I should be saving for College. Therefore I decided to buy Doc Si first since I did also love him and would end up buying him sometime anyway.
I'm still planning on buying Crobidoll Nao but probably not until I move to College or get a job.

    47. Mine first doll's not here yet, but I'm positive that I know who's coming now that I'm so close to getting him.

The first BJD that I really fell in love with was an Iplehouse Ryan, but after doing more research and seeing more pictures and working on a character for him we didn't click so well, then I saw a pic of a Luts Kid Delf Boy Bory and that was the end of it, he's too perfect. ^^

I'd still love to get Ryan someday, but I'm in no rush.

    48. First doll I wanted was Luts Delf El. Luts was the first company I ever saw waaaaay back when... and like many others I adored El. The first doll I actually got was a Luts Delf IF lol. I don't have her anymore and I'm not sure I'll own another delf, despite the fact that I do still somewhat like them... I'm leaning towards dolls with a tad more realism now. It's been many years since I first saw BJDs though, and my tastes in EVERYTHING have changed alot the last few years so I'm not suprised my BJD tastes seem to have changed as well.

    49. Volks SD13 Megu was the first doll that I saw and immediately wanted, I was smitten with her from the moment she was released. But for my first doll, I ultimately decided on a Nono instead -- she was the first BJD I ever saw, and thought that she looked like an alien at first, but she really grew on me. xD

I never did get an SD13 Megu (or any of the SD13 4 sisters), though I am still quite fond of that sculpt and hope to buy one of the oldskin ones someday.

    50. The first bjd I saw and wanted was a Supia Roda. I ended up buying a Lume Doll Bellatrix first because she was a limited in the pure white skin, and then retired altogether not very long after that. I still plan to at some point buy a Roda.

    51. The first bjd I fell in love with was Dollshe Saint, but I was afraid he was too big and the price tag was awfully steep. He also didn't fit any of the characters I wanted to embody in resin, so I kept looking. My first doll ended up being a Loongsoul YeSha, who is perfect for one of the characters I've written about. I realized recently that in paletan, Saint would be perfect as my YeSha's boss XD So maybe way down the road I'll get my dream doll, but for right now I'm more focused on smaller, more easily/quickly attainable bjds.

    53. The first doll I wanted to save up and buy is a FairyLand Minifee a-la-carte. I fell in love with the Soo Dark Elf head, I love fantasy and sci-fi novels and such. While I still plan to buy her when I manage to save the money, recently another doll has caught my eye. My sister was looking at a sale for Fantasy Doll YoSDs on Mint on Card Inc, and while I was looking at them with her the Charlotte mold caught my eye. Now I'm thinking of getting her and the rest of the things for her (wig and dress and such), it'll be less money to save and I thought she'd make a nice first doll to kind of 'test the waters.'

    54. I first fell in love with Ringdoll Rebecca and following that another series of dolls. I have yet to buy one, but plan on buying one soon. Right now, my favorites are Resinsoul Rong and Angel of Dream Rao. I've been through lists and lists of dolls falling in and out of love with them. Finally I'm down to 2 and I hope to make my first big purchase soon!

    55. Four years ago, I saw the Volks website, too. And I wanted the SD Kun. She kind of had the face of Ellen Pompeo, but that wasn't why. I just liked her face. But there was no way my mom was going to buy me a $600 doll - nor did I believe I could save up that much.

Eventually, I'll fork over the cash for her. But as of now, I saved up for an equally great, doll from Dollmore that costs half as much.

    56. What was the first bjd you ever wanted?
      Volks SD13 Black Cat Lucas

Was it the doll that ended up being your first?
Nope, Dream of Doll Homme Krill was my first.
At the time the size and price of Lucas was intimidating. I also liked Kirill's faceup better.

Did you or didn't you ever get that doll you originally wanted?
No, I still like him but he's not really on my wishlist anymore.

I saw the volks limited ria from a list of volks limiteds ^^

Was it the doll that ended up being your first?
No at first the bjd hobby was very expensive for me. I ended up starting with a dollfie dream.

Did you or didn't you ever get that doll you originally wanted?
I was lucky enough to find ria in a one off pureskin version and purchase her, she wasnt original limited I wanted at first but I like her one off version faceup alot better and pureskin ^^

    58. Like the OP, I also saw Volks dolls that I couldn't get because they were so limited... I got a limited that was actually available at the time I was looking: CP Elf El. And I loved him and still love him.

I later got a Voks, a One-Off Shiro Tachibana. The first one I fell for, aside from Shiro, was customized by Satoko Ohno. I haven't ever managed to fulfill that wish, but I am extremely happy with the dolls I've been able to get, and feel very lucky! :D

    59. The first dolls I was most struck with were CP El & Chiwoo. My first doll was an AR Present Jade ver 01 who was more in my price range as well as an LE, so it was get him then or not at all. I think he made a very good first doll, so I have no regrets there. I still don't own an El, and at this point don't have an overwhelming desire to do so. However, Chiwoo remains one of my fave headsculpts and I do own a Chiwoo hybrid.

    60. The first BJD I saw that I wanted was a Volks Shirou Tachibana, but at the time I saw the price and couldn't justify spending that much money on a doll. xD Several years later I stumbled back on BJDs and wound up buying a Luts Yder elf...and Its spiraled down from there. I still have yet to buy a Volks BJD but some day I think I would like to buy one...and maybe a Shirou if I ever find one and have the money.
