The first doll I ever wanted and it was like..."I want to have that one because LOOK AT THAT BOOTY!" and that was Fantasia Doll's elder B-type girl in tan...I was...and I am still in love with her but as they've gone out of business, I cannot get it...
And my first doll will be a Norman Reedus Minimee. Still waiting for him to arrive ^^

 

The first doll I ever wanted was an Iplehouse Tatiana. Her peaceful smile had me absolutely hooked! Then I came to a point where I NEEDED a young green boy with elf ears... So, my first doll is a Resinsoul Bao in green skin and he is absolutely perfect!

By 2010... My dad asked me what I want for Christmas and I asked for my first BJD.
Which is a Luts Delf Aru Male
It was not until 2015 when I got a job, that I managed to get two dollies that year.
Which are a Iplehouse B.I.D. Bonnie and a 65cm Carmine Luts Delf.
I also have a Volks Sister Mayu and a Volks Hatsune Miku Hokkaido Version. (Snow Miku)
And coming home one day my Dollshecraft Adonis

 

The first doll where I both 1) knew what it was/the doll company and 2) wanted was a DoT Tender Shall. I wanted the full doll, but not the fullset because I didn't really understand the nun(ish) costume.

However, I'm super glad I didn't go through with it --> that doll is definitely no longer my style (she was as realistic as I could find for dolls during the time). I do like looking at owner pictures of this doll still, despite not wanting to bring one home. I brought home a first resin BJD of a PlanetDoll MSD Riz instead about a decade later and I much prefer that decision! (My first BJD was a Hujoo "Hujoo Sleeping" sculpt who I love to bits!

 

The first doll I wanted was a volks - saw him in an ad for volks / dolpa with one of the 4 sisters during a visit to tokyo. Didn't think I could ever afford him or justify spending that much.
Later, I got my first real paying (day)job, and bought this Dim Bbjorn from junkyspot

When I first started actually looking at BJDs (though I never thought I'd own one at that point), I was convinced that the IslandDoll Odin sculpt was the doll I would get if I won the lottery or something. Six or so years later I was browsing Alice's Collections when I stumbled across him again and was like 'OH LOOK...meh nvm' haha. My first doll will end up being a Doll Family-H Yue Jian instead, who has like...nothing in common with past!Arteria's tastes :P

 

The first doll I ever really wanted was an OR-Doll/Nyx Limos after seeing the beautiful harlequin-esque company faceup. I didn't actually get into the hobby until much later, and my first doll was a Soom Tuff the Messenger, owing to the fact that I love "mythological" looking sculpts, found him for a pretty decent price, and thought that an MSD size would be nice and manageable for a first doll...

A year later, I stumbled across a Limos with company face-up on the secondhand market! I couldn't resist picking it up, though I still have my lovely little Tuff too!!

 

I think the first doll I ever wanted was Soom Kanoa, but the first doll I got was Musedoll tan ReChe....still would love Kanoa though

 

The first doll I ever wanted was a Luts Senior Delf Chloe and I wanted to have her in a pinup/50s style and she was going to have a little girl who would be YOSD sized. My first doll ended up being a Doll Family-A practice head as he was a gift to me from a friend and I fell in love with him and bought him a DollZone B45-014 body! His name is Pip

 

There are two dolls I really wanted before I got one. It was DOD's Luke: Black and Crobi's matsuri ver Lance with the kimono set.
Unfortunately they were both super limited edition dolls with dark skin that I don't think I'll ever get.
There were other dolls I wanted along the way (one of which was even cosplaying Kadaj from FF7 AC) and it took me yearsssssss before actually decided to get one.
The first doll I ended up getting was Bory from Luts after I decided to stick with MSD sized doll.

 

The first doll I ever fell in love with was Souldoll's Junia spider version, mostly because she was the perfect body for a character near and dear to my heart.

The first doll I ever bought was an Angel Fantasy Una because they were closing down and the prices were good for me at the time to dive in to the hobby

 

I saw Pongpongs. It took a month or so to narrow down the size to pukifee or pukipuki, and from there I decided pukifee-- unless I found a pukipuki first. Which I did. Second-hand, freshly listed, and in need of a playmate. /scoop
Ruthie is so small I think she will always stay. I may also shell her as a pukifee later....

 

Merlin from Ringdoll dragged me into the BJD world, but I didn't get him after I watched unboxing videos and realized how giant he is and he'd never work out for me at that size. After that, I looked around at various companies and sculpts until I fell in love with Bimong's work. I got lucky and he opened up orders for the new Narae body soon after I discovered his work. I actually picked out the N402 head by luck and it was the best accident (there was a new head on sale, but the site glitched and I couldn't add it to the order). I love her and she's the perfect size and look for her character.

 

The first BJD I really wanted was a Dollzone Brant. he was my GRAIL for years, but then I realized two things: I had no room for SD's and he was too pricey. I had a name and everything mentally chosen though. Then I got an Obitsu and was still obsessed with resins for a long time... Then I got myself my Resinsoul Song and the rest was history lol.

 

The first bjd(s) I ever wanted were either the iplehouse Bichun or Soom Hyperon! About 5-6 years later the first doll (head) I ever received was my Pygmalion doll Ha!! But omg, now being a working adult, I'm going to get the grail dolls I want if possible!!

 

I fell in love with Volks dolls, which actually got me interested in bjds in the first place. Oddly enough, however the first doll I ever wanted was Ringdoll's Kylin. Still kick myself for not getting him back then.

The first doll I ever got was an msd Fect Doll. I don't regret getting her and still have her to this day

 

Iplehouse's Soo was the first BJD I really admired and wanted to purchase. My first doll purchase ended up being Crobi Doll's Yeon-Ho. I was determined to get a girl at first but I really liked his grumpy expression. It's quite the jump!

 

First one I liked was Volks Link. First one I ordered was Delf El.

I later did get an FCS Link I had for a while before selling it along. I now... Have another Link. XD

 

The first BJD I fell for and really wanted was Dollmore's Lusion Black Dahlia. Then I realized how huge she was!

My first doll ended up being an Iplehouse JID Amy instead.

 

The first bjd that i encountered that i absolutely fell i love with and made me join the community was a LUTS centaur doll. I forgot what it's name was but they came in both female and male versions and they were small like i think yosd sized. I fell in love cuz i'm a Sagittarius and I like fantasy creatures.

Now my first ever bjd is a resin soul mei. I still have her. I'm waiting until i have the money and the time to give her a faceup and dress her.

 

The first doll that really made me sit up and pay attention to BJDs was Ringdoll Qinzhe, and he ended up being the first one I got. For a while I was razor focused on him and I thought I wouldn't want any other dolls besides him and his companion Meng He, but...well, look at me now lmao.

 

First I ever really wanted was a Fairyland Littlefee Shiwoo. I was incredibly lucky in that the same friend who introduced me to this marvelous little poser presented me with a gift of my beloved Wiishu the next day. I have others but he and his little brother, Pookii, still dominate my resin-time.

 

I went with the first doll I really liked!

After I realized how expensive BJDs are I had almost given up on wanting one since I wasn't that interested in them from the beginning. But I still kept looking at pictures of them (this was my greatest mistake ) and when I first saw Ringdoll's Merlin I instantly knew this had to be my doll! I ordered him one or two weeks later, I think. And I'm still more than happy with my decision.

 

I bought first doll after very long thinking... it was LUTS Claus. But soon after I ordered him there came a BIG bang - I saw Jie doll Altair and it was love at first sight. And he came to me very fast and he was the first doll I got.

 

Back around 2010 when I first learned about BJD, I really wanted a Blue Fairy Olive and Louis (so they wouldn't be lonely). I was still in high school at the time so nothing really came from that, but in 2017 I stumbled across the BJD bookmarks from that time and realized I could actually afford something like that now. My taste had changed somewhat in that time, so my first dolls ended up being a MYou Matcha and DC Bella (I ordered them within days of each other so I consider both of them my first). I still think it would be nice to get the first BJDs I fell in love with eventually, but that's on the backburner while I sort out some other dolls I want first.

 

The first BJD I ever saw was an Elfdoll Lydia, I remember the photo exactly although I’m not sure how I found it. I immediately thought she was the most gorgeous doll I’d ever seen and I had to know more about her. When I discovered that she was a BJD and what those were there was no turning back, haha. Quite a while later when I finally had the funds I decided to get one of my own but by that time I’d discovered so many other companies and dolls I had moved passed Lydia and Elfdoll was no more. I ended up going with a Iplehouse Stella, I adore the more adult look that the company has and Stella is one of my favorite sculpts. After coming home she definitely came into her own and has a full character completely different than the clothes and things I got for her at first lol but that’s just how it is I guess with BJDs.

 

The first BJD I wanted was Crobidoll Zion. I saw him around 2007, when I was still at second year college. I recall way back, BJDs with youthful faces were still the usual thing, hence my style also revolved around 60cm SD guys with cute, androgynous faces.

Fast forward in 2018, I got Ringdoll Sol as my first BJD and I have no regrets. But would I still get a Crobidoll Zion hmm? I guess it would be less likely now since my style also has "evolved" throughout the years. But say, if I wanted to be sentimental about it and consider Crobidoll Zion as the first sculpt that got me into the hobby, then I might actually get him -- for sentimental purposes, that is.. XD

 

The first bjd I wanted was a Luts tiny delf Alice in brown skin. Then I discovered Lina Chouchou and I wanted a doll from her, but I was scared if I waited the whole 2 months I would change my mind at that point. Then I discovered denverdoll and ended up ordering a pukifee just because she was in stock.... fast forward to some exchanges and desperately searching for an immediately available Alice, and I ended up with my original choice after all

 

Oh, gosh! How embarrassing to think about...

I’d seen random pictures of BJDs online around 2007 and liked them but had no idea where to start. Everything was so intimidating. Then a certain anime about them came out...I’m sure you know which I’m talking about.

Anyway, I wanted the Volks Shinku and Suigintou so badly, but as a highschooler I could NOT afford them. Not that I could now, exactly. But by the time I sort of could, my tastes had changed quite a bit. My first doll IS a super dollfie, but she’s a DDP and isn’t based off of any canon character.

Granted, one of my friends said she looked like a cross between Shinku and Suigintou so maybe my tastes didn’t change all that much!

 

The first doll I ever wanted was and Immortality of Soul Lacrymosa. The first one I got was a Mystic Kids Tremmel. Big difference, but I like my boy Rizoel much more than any of the IOS sculpts now.

 

The first bjd I ever saw was MNF Chloe! She is what got me into the hobby and I wanted her so bad.

Years later when I finally bought my first bjd my interests had changed. My first doll was a resinsoul Ya. I'm now im longer interested in Chloe haha

 

Actually I first got to know BJD through Enchanted Dolls, off-topic as they may be. Initially I wanted to make my own (even got halfway with sculpting), and I'd decided any doll I'd own would have to look more like me: sturdier, less feminine.
I gave up on the idea of making my own, considered an Iple Rania for a while because of the jawline, and then settled on an Impl muscle Aurora because of the even better jawline (and Rania's mouth always bothered me).
It's... not really possible to veer off more from your starting point, I think?

 

The first doll I desperately wanted was a Doll Chateau Xaviera, but I was unfortunately 17 or 18 and didn't have anywhere close to enough disposable income to be able to get her. I was devastated when the limited time period pasted tbh since I wasn't involved in the community at all didn't know there was a huge secondhand market.

The first doll I actually got was a DC Madeline! She was an impulse buy because I wanted a bjd so badly I honestly just got the first doll I liked that was within my price range. Now shes one of my favorites and is very near and dear to my heart as my first girl

 

The first doll I wanted was a Luts delf Chiwoo back when CP and Luts collaborated .

After 2 years of saving, pining, and wanting, I finally got enough to order said doll-- But ended up With a delf Yder. I don't regret my decision, though I am sad I missed out on Chiwoo back in the day.

 

The first doll I ever wanted was Crobidoll Zion. I fell in love with him after I played the game Nameless, but as I was 14 at the time, no way I could afford him:// (still don't have him)
The first (and the only one for now) doll I bought was a Crobidoll Lancelia Chariot. I'm making 18 this year, so I got her as the most perfect gift ever!

 

The very first BJD I saw was probably about 7-10 years ago? I can't even remember what company it was, but it's definitely since shut down. He was a 1/3 or bigger boy, with a blonde mohair wig and striped sweater in the company pictures and I absolutely fell in love with him, but was quite young and could not justify that much for a doll

Skip to late 2018 and the very first doll I bought was an IOS 65cm boy, that I sold nearly right after I received and bought instead my then grail doll, Switch Waseon, who I still have and love to bits

 

Well, first bjd I saw and fell in love was Sha of Dream of Doll. It was in 2006. I dreamed about him for some years. But when I decided to buy him and went to Dream of Doll site, I saw The B on the advertising banner and forgot about Sha. I bought The B and he became my first bjd.

 

The first doll I ever wanted was a Doll Chateau Hugh-- except I had no idea what sculpt he was. He was owned by a user who seems to be no longer active on here, but I found them on tumblr. I loved how the owner modded his eye shape.

Years later, I'm not a huge fan of DC sculpts. My first doll was a Unidoll Cupi.

The first doll I ever wanted was a Luts Kid Delf Bory, I even had the money for him! I couldn't figure out the website though so I got a secondhand Littlefee Mio instead. I no longer have my Littlefee and I'm not as in love with Bory anymore, my tastes lean towards Doll Chateau and Dollzone now, but of course if I got him as a present I wouldn't compain lol

 

I had really wanted a Doll Chateau Bella. Her face sculpt was everything I loved and I wanted to buy her first. Then I kept having issues saving money, and ended up buying a Doll Leaves Jeremy instead.

Although he is my first purchase, he's not the first doll I've had my hands on. My first doll that ever arrived was a Minifee, active line body with cutie legs, and the Ria head sculpt.

So... technically Jeremy is my first purchase, but not my first doll? I still would like to call him my first.

Anyway, I have DC Bella on layaway, so I will have my first favorite doll in my hands hopefully soon!

 

The first bjd I ever really, truly wanted, and fell in love with, was a Soom Gluino vampire doll. Not only was Gluino a 72cm doll with a very realistic body, he was a vampire doll with cute little fangs, and he also had a price that had me balking as a poor student with very little money to spend.

At the time, Gluino was a limited sculpt and had long since been marked as sold out on Soom's website. Oh, and how can I forget that Gluino dolls available on the secondhand market were crazy expensive - usually almost twice the original price.

I also had other hobbies that I was more into at the time, so I was really unsure if bjds were going to be a serious hobby for me. My first bjd ended up being a 72cm ResinSoul Feng boy that I bought from Denver Doll for my birthday.

To this day, I don't regret buying a test doll that not only helped me test my commitment to the hobby, but also served as my Guinea pig as I experimented with faceups and re-stringing. I don't think I would have ever dared to do anything basic if I had bought an expensive doll like Gluino as my first doll.

 

The first BJD I desperately wanted was a Soom Branon, who was also their first ID release...and I bought him - so not much of a versus story there. But...he was also their first ID body, horrible to work with and pose (and that goes double for a brand new and inexperienced owner in this hobby), so I ended up selling him. The experience almost finished the hobby for me, but fortunately I tried again with an Iple Barahan, who really saved the day for me. I still own and love him, even though the poseability is pretty meh; compared to my first boy, he was a dream come true!

 

The first doll I had ever wanted was IOS Chaos but kept chickening out on his price as I didn't want to pay over $500 for a hobby I may not enjoy(also the constant dread that suddenly my car will break down or something worse and no more doll money). Since I also really like anime style dolls I went with 2D doll gugu as my first and I already love him. I love most of 2D dolls sculpts.

 

The first doll I wanted was a Peak's woods Mori Moth, I think? I had a small list as first for dolls I wanted, but I think that was the first one on there. I got my B&G Sharon instead and still love him a lot. Funnily enough, I don't really want a Mori Moth at all anymore, so it's for the better that I got my boy instead.

A Luts/Cerberus Project Delf Shiwoo in normal skin.

After talking to a friend about wanting to create dolls based on characters from the series 'Gravitation', I mentioned to that friend that I wanted to make a resin version of Sakuma Ryuichi. When they showed me the Shiwoo link on the original Luts website, it was love! I went back to that site so much, I'm surprised it wasn't burned into the screen of my then-computer! I also give that friend half-credit for enabling me into the BJD hobby.

Was it the doll that ended up being your first?
No, I had a different friend that was selling a Elfdoll tiny. I don't remember which one since its was such a while ago, but they get the other half-credit for enabling me. I ended up rehoming the tiny, but he was a nice introduction to BJDs.

Did you or didn't you ever get that doll you originally wanted?
It was rather convoluted, but I did! Ryuichi was my second doll and I still have him! Even though he's a basic Shiwoo, out of all of my dolls, he's the one that's the most special to me. And my favorite. Don't tell my other dolls!

The first BJD I ever wanted was tied between Luts/CP Delf El and Dollshe Husky. They were the first BJDs I saw that really got me interested in the hobby (back in 2006). The El I saw was on Heise's on their deviantart. The first Husky I really loved was actually the version you could get from Iplehouse (which I'm sad I can't find pictures of him!).

Sadly, neither were my first. My first was a Delf Nanuri 2007 who I bought as a head, then got his Fantasy Doll body a month later. I love him a lot and he's still with me after 12 years.

I did manage to get a Delf El in 2011 and a Dollshe Husky in 2016 (ordered in 2015 though). The Husky is from when Dollshe rereleased the old Hound body, so I'd still love to get an old Husky, but I love him all the same. I'm really glad I was able to get both of them, even if it did take a while lol

 

The first BJD I really wanted (and almost got) was a Blueblood doll Waltz. I literally would come home from school and just stare at his listing on the website. I ended up buying an outfit for him but never actually had the money to buy the doll, even though I was in contact with the creator and was getting ready to put him on layaway. Can't remember exactly what happened... life probably. But I never got him. Instead, I found an Islanddoll Amy that was in my price range. She was my first, though I never really bonded with her much.

 

First bjd I ever wanted was a Volks Chii which I saw in some pictures in around 2007 and the first I ever got was a Dollshe Bernard this year. I think its interesting to see how my tastes have changed though I still love Chii.

 

I was settling for an Iplehouse kid Lonnie in dark resin when I came across some not so good comments on Iplehouse dolls' posability. My first bjd was a Fairyland littlefee Shiwoo as a result.

 

I really, really, really wanted a Ringdoll Don, specifically style A. I got a Resinsoul Song boy instead.However +10 years later I have a Don arriving in the mail sooooo..... His faceup is style B and he comes without clothes, but I've learned a thing or two since I first set eyes on him.

 

Honestly I think I first saw BJD on Deviantart, and thought it was a photo of a really good cosplay? Particularly in the makeup department because the eyes looked fairly big.
Then i saw it was a doll and I became obsessed. I wanted one.
I don't know what the sculpt was, but I do remember an early sculpt I REALLY wanted was a Dream of Doll Sha. Unfortunately I was not in a financial/emotional/responsible enough situation to purchase one.



It was really heartbreaking to see their site go down and never come back. I hope the artist is well, and it would be great to see them return but...

At least, Resinsoul had always been in my scope, I always watched the Under 300 Club, and so getting a Resinsoul Twilight was an exciting purchase after considering so many companies and sculpts.

 

The first bjd I truly wanted was Dollshe Saint but I was quite fresh and I was afraid of ordering him from Seoul... So I decided to buy cheaper dollzone Reiko from dealer in my country. Saint was second doll I ever bought and I still have and love him:>

 

First doll I REALLY wanted was a Dreaming Chiwoo Vampire.
I got a Peakswood Morimoth.
I didn't want to sink the $700+ someone was asking for at the time(way back in 2006). So I went with the Morimoth because she was much cheaper and on ebay(before recasts were really a thing).

 

The first BJD I got is actually the first BJD I wanted He is a Feeple60 Erda and I knew about this sculpt because of a box opening video on YouTube. I have heard of BJDs since I was small but I did not expect that I would be in the hobby. I did hesitate a bit before I placed the order because the purchase is not cheap. Nevertheless, I am very glad that I got him because he is absolutely adorable.

 

The first doll I ever wanted was a Blue Blood Limited Edition Black Diamond Draven. I found him when I was 12, and obviously unable to afford him. I knew I'd never be able to get the $300 in time to get the limited edition, but I decided that I would one day get the regular Draven. He was just as pretty, and I could just buy him some black leather clothes and a wig similar to the limited edition.
By the time I ended up deciding to save for my first doll, Blue Blood Dolls no longer existed, so i did research. I was going to buy a ResinSoul Gang, but accidentally found Dragon Doll. I fell in love with Piao Chiyue and decided that the extra cost was worth it. I'm so glad I found him, because Rin has managed to bring me so much joy

 

First bjd i wanted was a hujoo (cant remember the sculpt its been so long) never did end up getting them, my first bjd ended up being a Myou Zimo and i love him so much

 

The firt BJD I wanted was a Ducan of Dream of doll. And I had him. But after I bought other dolls and I sold him... and really regret it after. I never found another Ducan. Yesterday I order a Lance R Line of Crobidoll because I always thought that he looks a little like the Ducan ^^

 

The first doll I ever truly wanted was the original Luts Claus with the pale skin. I saw him and fell in love with the sculpt but couldn't afford him because back then I was making $7.40 and had bills to pay. Then I saw the same sculpt later on Luts with the Real Brown skin and knew I needed him for an OC of mine even more. He became my Grail doll. Over the years I just kept going back to him despite looking at many different sites and sculpts, looking for something more affordable but never speaking to me in the same way. He knew he wanted to come home to me, calling, and waiting for the right moment.

Fast forward to present day and after all this time, I ordered him with my tax return. As of last week when he arrived, he became my first ball jointed doll. Now, I get to take my own pictures instead of looking at stock photos to see how beautiful he is.
I plan on buying others eventually, but I knew that I wouldn't be happy without getting him first. He may not be limited edition or anything, but he's mine.
