The first BJD you ever wanted vs the first BJD you got.

Aug 28, 2010

1. My first doll I wanted was from dollzone, I wasn't picky but I liked Beeta but it took until last month untill I bought my first doll. A minifee Liria basic. I was to young when I first discovered bjd so it took some years before I decided I could buy one and don't feel bad beacuse of the price tag. A job makes a big diffrence.

2. The first doll I actually wanted was the Felian-3 from Dollzone but then I went to Flickr and looked at Owner pictures and she just didn't suit my liking anymore. I'm waiting for my Iplehouse Irene now, when I saw her she just resonated with me like she was saying, "Bring me home!" Hehe.

4. The first BJD I ever saw was a Dreamingdoll Airi. I immediately fell in love and within a few months I had purchased her :D I have since found other sculpts that I really love, but I don't regret my impulse buy at all hahaha. She still is my most favourite sculpt, and although she is my first BJD I think i made the right decision :)

6. Ah the first doll that I ever reeeeally wanted was a Leekeworld Mabel. I was obsessed! I loved her! It took until I was half way through college when I decided it was acceptable for me to buy a doll, and by then, I had fallen in love with Minifee Shushu. Shushu was my first doll and I'm really glad I went with a slim mini instead of a regular sized MSD. I don't think I understood the difference back then haha.

7. JustTheRandomPerson the first doll I wanted was a E-an from DOD too!
Until I realized how big she was and I didn't think I was prepared to have a doll of that size, or at least for it to be my first.
So I ended up buying a Little Elva Misora from DreamingDoll that I thought was cute but I ended up not bonding with her and selling her like 2 years ago.

9. SDF Karis was the only doll I ever wanted when I was starting out with the hobby. Of course, I thought I could never afford him and bought two MSD(MK Lillian, 5SD Mu Ran) dolls on an impulse. It just didn't feel right in the long run, so I caved in and finally bought him. Even though he isn't here yet, I love him very much T__T. It just feels so rewarding having your favorite doll with you, so I feel like you should go after for a doll you really want.

After buying him I feel less ambitious, and I think 2 more SD dolls will already be the end of my collection, but who really knows for sure? LOL

10. I immediately fell in love with Iplehouse, and even after searching a lot of different sites, I went back to them and bought an Iplehouse Patrick. I'm extremely happy with my choice. My other dream doll was Migidoll Ryu, which I miraculously was able to purchase recently.

11. I bought the first doll I really wanted, because at the time I told myself there would only be ONE so he needed to be PERFECT. When I got him he was totally wrong for me, and I've got a lot more than that one doll now, but at the time it seemed to make sense. XD

12. My first dolly love was quite a few years ago! I really wanted a Bluefairy Tinyfairy. I still want one eventually (maybe hybrid with another company's body)... I just recently ordered my first doll from Doll Family-H, the Wen Xin sculpt! I'm excited to get her and post lots of pictures! [emoji13]

13. First doll I wanted Saint dollshe. For a long time and really wanted. When bought it, thinking that here one doll will be all. If you told me then that in 2.5 years I will have seven large dolls, I'd laugh. Now think, whether to buy me an eighth?

15. When i was still n my younger teens I was going through the doll sites and i spied the Dollzone Rapheal with his pretty little rose neck garment and fell in love. But at this time i could only afford Taeyangs and other such kinds of dolls.
My first BJD was one that i found on ebay and i thought he was very pretty, his picture wasn't very flattering for him but i fell in love. and i only fell more in love. He was a Dollmore Paran.
a year later i found a rapheal on ebay, and about a couple months later found his stock outfit and i was able to have the doll that made me love bjds.

16. To be honest, I don't actually remember the name of the first doll I saw and said, "Oh, I'd like that one!" I do know he was an SD male elf, advertised in an issue of Haute Doll magazine (which I thought I still had around here, but it hasn't turned up). Prior to seeing him, I'd only seen the dolls available through Volks USA's site, and thus only really knew about "cute human girls with frilly dresses," which are not really my thing; I wanted an elf boy. He was the first one that showed me there were other options! But, when I googled his name for more information, I found out that he was "too expensive" for me at the time. (I can't remember the price, offhand, either, but it turned me off pretty much instantly, to the degree that I didn't even pine for him anymore.)

The first doll I got was an MSD elf boy, from Bobobie, and while I've swapped out his body (his character is short and thin, so he got a short and thin body), I still love him, and have no regrets about purchasing him first. And at this point, if I rediscovered that first one, I'm not sure I actually would buy him, as I feel the sculpt I got embodies the character I wanted to shell better, anyway!

18. The first doll I fell in love with (and the only one I ever thought I'd get!) was a MiniFee Risse. I still love her lots and she's the one who has the most thorough character, but I ordered a tan MNF Celine as my first doll. She isn't here yet but I'm already addicted, so hopefully eventually I'll end up getting all of the ones I'd love.

It's super weird though because my Risse was all I could think about for months! But then I saw a tan Celine and fell in love. Oops.

20. tl;dr: first doll I wanted was Volks Myu; first doll I got was Bluefairy Emilie.

But go ahead and read my BJD life story here if you like :XD:

When I first stumbled across BJDs like 4-5 years ago (Volks first, of course, lol) Mika and Myu were among the standard MSD models offered at the time. They were the ones that really caught my eye anyway. I even showed them to my mom, who shrugged me off when she saw the price tag (grieving phase). I dreamed about having Myu for a while, but knowing there was no way my parents would consent, I pushed BJDs to the back of my mind until a year or two later (denial phase). I looked at them again and decided they were ridiculous! Who would spend this much on a doll!? (anger phase) But THEN another year passed by and I was getting further into doll collecting and had started customizing (with sharpies, lmao) some of my fashion dolls. As I looked at doll shops and communities on the web I came across BJDs again, and found myself watching some BJD videos on YT. I decided I did in fact want a BJD and that they were worth the cold hard cash (acceptance phase). Luckily it happened that I (a childhood hoarder) was going to have a yard sale very soon, and I managed to turn up quite a bit of money from all of the toys and clothes I hadn't thought to get rid of for years. And after scouring online for a while I fell in love with Bluefairy Tiny Fairy Emilie, who is my first BJD :kitty1

And I'm still new to the hobby - I actually only got her last May. Anyway, that was more than what was asked, lol!

21. I remember the first time I discovered BJDs was in a blog post by Maymay Kay (?). That was around 5 years ago, I believe. She had an Asleep Eidolon Peppermint. I became hooked and wanted a similar one as well, just because the doll was so cute and tiny! :D

I looked around Google, checked the price and thought "That's so expensive! How could I afford that?" I was around 11 at the time, so I didn't have a lot of money, just my weekly allowance.

Two years after, I saved up, gave my money to my uncle and asked him to buy me a Lati Yellow Miel from the Dollheart store in Hong Kong. Up to this day, she hasn't had a faceup yet, as I'm still finding the perfect faceup artist!

24. My first doll love was the Luts Wayne. Something about his gentle, mysterious gaze ensnared me. I was up for weeks dreaming about owning him. "But that pricetag!!! I could never afford him!" My wallet screamed in anguish. It soon left my mind, submitting to the fact that I'd never own my own precious, beautiful doll.

2 years later, I finally have a job! With real money! But I was cautious: $800 was still a lot to spend...

So, I was piddling around Google when I stumbled upon Blueblood Doll, an American dealer. I thought, "well, they won't have what I want, but it won't hurt to look."

And lo! On the banner was proudly displayed Nile, a GenX doll. I gave him a look over; he was beautiful...and that Edwardian-style outfit was ravishing...

3 days later, he arrived at my house. And the rest, they say, was history :3

26. My first BJD, I got recently was a Resinsoul Ya. She was affordable and I could see one of my characters, Dahlia, in her so I was happy to go with her and see what I thought about BJDs. I was really happy with her and now I'm addicted..

Now, the first doll I saw that instantly made me fall in love was Dollzone Vita-2. I adore her moody face and she is on layaway currently with Doll Chateau Larry. Can't wait to get her next year!

28. The first BJD I remember actually wanting for myself was the special edition Iplehouse Ashanti, the version with that dark ebony resin. I still love her, but my first doll ended up being a Littlefee Ante - I saw a picture of her little face and knew I had to bring her home and give her lots of hugs. (Besides, she was secondhand so the price was right for a first doll).

29. The first bjd I ever fell in love with and went completely "Wow she is lovely" was Iplehouse Tatiana. More specifically, the pierrot one. I think mainly because of the red hair she had and because she has such a lovely and cute face. I always thought she would look great as a readhead with lots of freckles.
My first (and currently only) bjd was actually the second bjd I fell in love with, a Bimong Narae :) Only thing that changed was that I wanted at first a classic Narae face, but ended up choosing the Dreamer one instead (can never remember the names with the numbers). Strangely enough, the first time I looked at her and saw her price, I really didn´t think I would ever be able to get her, and now she was/is my first bjd. Life sometimes works in funny ways.
I still think Tatiana is lovely, but right now, I wouldn´t get her, cause my taste changed a bit.

30. I've been lurking into doll maker sites but I was really captivated by Volks' 10th Anniv which they released are SD Lieselotte and Charlotte. I wanted to buy both so bad but it is really pricey on the other hand, Volks released new SDC models which are Mina and May. When I first saw Mina I fell in love and I even made her pics as some of my profile photo, but I had the chance to buy her and I can't believe that I did. Hopefully, I'd be able to get Lieselotte someday or just even Charlotte, they were the ones I really liked but right now all my love is for my Junhee (SDC Mina) <3

31. The first BJD I ever wanted was from Luts, I do believe. His promo picture had this really awesome gray wig on and he looked super cool. It was years ago that I saw him, though, back before I knew anything about them, and the price tag was what made me walk away from him. So I don't really remember what sculpt he was.
But THEN, a year later, I ran into a Crobidoll Lance in... 2012 I think, and fell for him. He's so gorgeous. But I didn't know what sculpt he was and I couldn't seem to find the answer (the owner didn't have any answers), and I didn't know anything about dolls, so I shied away. (fortunately I later found out what he was when I stumbled across a lance on deviantart!)
My first doll, however, was a 5Stardoll Mu Ran that I got in 2014. He's no lance, but I don't mind~~~ I still really do want a lance though...he's definitely my dream doll!

I fell in love with Luts Delf Arwen but then I found out she is SD size. Now shes just a pretty doll I like to look at.
Then I found out about Fairyland and Minifee Rena. Although I could have gotten her as my first doll, I didnt.
In the end I got Resinsoul Mei on a Minifee moe body. She is so adorable and I dont regreat getting her as my first doll.

First doll I ever wanted was Souldoll's Albee, around the time he first came out if I'm not mistaken.
Just looked back at it again after a few years, and while he's not bad, he's definitely not the first on my wishlist anymore.

But I realised after that a SD is really reeeeeally big !
(For me MSD are already too tall. I though for a long time that MSD was SD >~> )

So I bought a Cerisedoll ! A Tinycherry Lulu ~<3 Far far away from this dear Ryu. And from now on I search for "mature" tinies.

43. I was introduced to the world of bjds through the game "Nameless" so there's no surprise my first website visited was Crobidolls. There I got fascinated by the stunning dolls, one especially catching my eye, Tei.

I really wanted to get him but the cost meant I would have had to wait around half a year till I got enough and I was never a patient person. Instead I looked around more and stumbled upon BlueBlood dolls and their Gen X Niall. I was very worried that he won't be as lovely as in the company pictures but it was a waste of time. From the moment I saw him, I was in love and I wouldn't change him for anything.

As for Tei. I'm still thinking of getting him at some point in my life. He's charming but the cost of SDs are... Now I earn even less so saving for a year..? Where do people get so much patience? ;D

45. The first doll I fell in love with and actively pursued was Soom Laon. I adored his friendly, approachable smile, and I liked the size that he came in (Laon was an MSD-sized doll). Unfortunately I didn't have money for him, and he sold out fairly quickly. Four and a half years later I found Angel of Dream Tao Hua Dao. He has both the features that I loved in Laon (a smiling face and an MSD body). Tao is the one who came home; now he's my Johnny and I love him!

46. The first doll I ever wanted was Shirou Tachibana, and he was also the first male BJD I saw online. Or the first I knew for certain was male at least. Unfortunately I had no concept of limited runs so when I did decide a year and a half later to stop fence sitting and joined Den of Angels he was no longer available (2005). I have since seen owner photos and decided that I would not have liked him as well as I thought I did. I ended up looking at Luts and Dream of Doll and debating between Chiwoo and Tender Yen.

Tender Yen won out for price reasons, and as much as I regret not getting Chiwoo, I love my DOC boy even still, more than 10 years later (though now he's hybridized onto a Bluefairy body). Someday I hope to get a Chiwoo but I always seem to miss out on them when they come up for sale.

51. The first bjd I ever wanted was luts delf Chiwoo about 9 years ago. I ended up getting senior delf Bliss with default face up, because he was so stunningly white in NSkin and his face was beautiful and sad. However I was deeply dissapointed with him because he looked nothing like the promos. Even the face up was done so wrong that he didn't even look sad. I didn't know about face-up artists (or anything really back then) so I didn't know I could get him fixed to my liking.

Perhaps if I had gotten Chiwoo I would have been happier. But ill never know. But today I wouldn't want him either! :XD:

Now I'm currently saving up for a LUTS body for my LUTS KDF event head that someone in my local marketplace generously gave me.

But although I didnt get a Mystic Kids Evelyn as my first bjd, I definitely would still buy her in a heartbeat!

53. I was in high school when a friend showed me bjds. She had been looking at DD"s and when she showed me I became interested. I had looked at the volks sight but none really appealed to me. I began to do more research and came across resinsoul. I love elves so I instantly fell in love with their Mei and Song sculpts. I actually did get Mei as my first 'real' bjd. I actually had a hujoo doll but didn't bond with it. I'm now saving up for the song to go with my dear Lorelei

54. The first doll that I ever wanted was Iplehouse's Tatiana junior doll. The first time I saw her was in her Noctarcana Circus limited edition and by the time I had money to order her they have already sold out. It got me thinking if I really wanted to purchase her non-limited edition version and I said "hmmm, let me just wait a bit and think it over".

Eight years go by without purchasing any doll until just this week that I saw a video of a Doll Chateau box opening. I've never heard of this company and I was curious what their doll line looked like. And then I fell in love with their Alberta and this urge to have her was so intense that I preordered her right away. Now I'm waiting for her to arrive!

55. First doll I ever wanted and even tried to order was Crobidoll M-line Tei, but as back then I didn't know how to use PayPal so never got the order through! : D (I'm kinda glad about that as my preference has changed completely after all these umm, 6 years or so? xD)

So first doll I got is Fairyland Minifee moe-line Chloe in tan skin. I fell in love how Fairyland's bodies are sculpted so I actually bought my doll for it's body mostly :wiggle

57. The first doll I truly wanted was the IOS Lacrimosa back when I didn't know a thing about BJDs and just thought they were gorgeous (and that was all that mattered). It wasn't until I was actually interested in purchasing one that I really changed my mind and preferences. I had actually started saving up for in hopes of getting was Ringdoll Diyue Style-B. Eventually my honey and I discovered Alice's Collections where I stumbled across Little Monica and fell in love with Little Kliff instead. There were tons of other dolls within the price range, but I felt like Little Kliff was the sculpt I was looking for. I think I would have been happy with either, honestly, but I'm happy about my choice. :)

58. Was in middle school when I stumbled upon Doll Chateau and fell in love with their designs in general. They are so unique and creepy in an awesome way. Sadly still can't afford one and instead my doll I got from Resinsoul and I love him.
