The Eye Making Tutorial ~ /how to make unique eyes using ordinary materials/

    1. I do not believe my eyes! This is a big job and very beautiful!
I need to buy a lot of stuff and try to make!

    2. Did anyone tried this out yet? im stuck on getting molding silicon now :S as i cannot afford it now

    3. Holy cow, this is an excellent tutorial. You must be very patient, great job!

    4. i think i ve studying a lot here!
      thanks so much<3

    5. Your eyes are truly stunning, thanks for sharing :)

    6. AMAZING tutorial!! I started looking through it thinking it would be too hard to make, then I kept reading thinking it might be feasible but that eyes made at home might not look quite like the ones sold by shops, but by the end I was having to pick up my jaw from the floor because the final result was SO GORGEOUS I stared for quite a while. *-*

This would be the best thing ever for those eye colors that are really "out-there" or so personal that there isn't really a commercially available one that matches what you have in mind for the character.

Thank you SO MUCH for making this wonderful tutorial!! *-* *saves the page to bookmarks at light-speed*

    7. NiuKy+, I have a question - in step 4, what do you mean by "clean the sticky surface with a wipe"?

    8. Jany when you use this uv gel its will remain bit sticky after hanrdening on the surface you should wipe it before next steps so you will have just clean hard surface, same is done when its used on fake nails its some kind of residue after hardening proces i belive and it will not damage the eye :) (if is properly hardened ofc)

    9. Wow those eyes look amazing, and this tutorial seems so easy to follow! I might try this out one day!

    10. Thank you :) But I admit I'm completely clueless when it comes to nail stuff, so what do I use to wipe it with - plain water? Nail polish remover? Something else entirely? (I feel so stupid now :sweat)

    11. I love this tutorial! I've been trying a few different kinds of eyes and here is a favorite

    12. Jany do not feel bad :) i had gel nails only twice as i needed them for cyberpunk costume :P so not an expert at all, nails are normally wiped with nail polish remover if i remember correctly i will try to get in contact with someone who is working with this to confirm that ^^

hannaliten wow amazing result she looks like flower spirit now :) love how they match with her eyeshadow

    13. They look amazing! Thanks for sharing :)

    14. Wow!! I had been looking to make some of my own since I make little hand painted eye cabochons with resin, but never this detailed and realistic. I might try this with the materials I have on hand and report back with the results. The wait for dry time of course will be longer but will be interesting to see. :) Thanks for the tutorial!

    15. This is an awesome tutorial.
I will definitively try it, hopefully I'll be able to pull it off C:
One question though, what material would you use for putty?
I'm new in this hobby and I've read that depending on the material that the eyes are made some putties might actually damage those eyes.

    16. Ssapdra, thanks for your help! (Cyberpunk, cool! Shadowrun fan here ;)) I'm about to finish my first batch of "nail art eyes", I'll share pics when I'm done :)

    17. This is so amazing! Thank you for the detailed tutorial! I really want to try this out. :fangirl:

    18. Disclaimer: I didn't follow every step of the tutorial. I tried the half-beads which turned out awesome, and the last part with the UV gels; the eye bases were made my usual way as it was mostly the cornea I was unhappy with.
Have a pic of my IH Bianca wearing some prototypes :)

As you can see one of the eyes isn't quite as shiny as it should be - I used the wrong finishing gel. But they already turned out much better than anything I've tried before, so thank you again for this awesome tutorial, NiuKy! :chocoheart

    19. these look so good! i hope i could try it oneday but i'm worried that i will never be able to use the materials for anything other than doll eyes since i have zero interest in nail art....

    20. I've been dying to try this, but does anyone know what an equivalent brand to the Moyra might be in the United States? It's too expensive for me to buy and ship from the UK. I may just get some of the cheap stuff to experiment with first, to see if I even like the method, but it would be good to know what could be used instead. I have a Sally's Beauty Supply near me, so I was thinking of going there to ask what the most crystal clear gel and topcoat they have is, but the acrylic powder and liquid eludes me.

    21. I will definitely have to try this! It's so hard finding the right eye color for one of my boys and this tutorial may help me find my answers to finding the right eye. :D I don't know where I'll get some of the materials tho...and is it okay to use sunlight if you don't have a UV lamp?

oh!!! And all the owners who posted their eyes after doing this tutorial, I want to tell you that they look good, so pretty!!! All the more to try. Thanks for posting this tutorial OP :D

    22. Thank you so much for posting this. I don't know if I will ever have the time, but it looks like something fun to try.

    23. SOOOO good!! Thank you!!

    24. Awesome tutorial, those eyes are gorgeous! I'd like to try but I don't have any of those materials on hand :sweat

    25. That was so insanely wonderful! I will definitely have to try this one of these days, oh my gosh how perfect! They came out so stunningly, too!

    26. wow super great! this tutorial is really helpful! I wanted to try this i hope i can find these materials. I think it will be hard finding it here where I live.

    27. AWESOME!!!!

    28. These eyes are absolutely fantastic! Gorgeous depth, and very luminous looking. But, I think, for many of us these items are not entirely 'ordinary'. Very few who don't know about acrylic nails would have such things laying about in their house, or know offhand of a shop that sells them locally. That's not to say we can't do some research and buy these items on line. That's what getting into a new hobby/technique is all about?

Please note, I'm certainly not trying to come down on anyone, or in no way am NOT appreciative of this fantastic walkthrough you've shared with us all! It's wonderful to see someone as gifted as you sharing their great methods! Thanks! <3

    29. If you're having trouble affording mold making materials, you may want to try 100% silicon caulk and cornstarch method. I found some amazing tutorials on it on youtube (Though the link's escape me) And it's very cheap. The results are great but the putty sets up quickly. You can also look it up under "Ugoo" as some people call it. (A replacement/home made version of Sugru) It's great for detail!

    30. I saw this somewhere else (facebook maybe?) and it's such a great thread. I've played with resin eyes before, but I've never seen it done this way! it's really fascinating. Great technique, I can't wait to try it out!

    31. So I have tested the eye base part with the cheap nail acrylics found on eBay. They DO work, but they appear to be harder to control than the ones OP is using. Or it could just be my lack of experience. I also used the two part silicone clay included in those kits for making molds of your baby's hand or foot print. It works nicely, but you MUST move quickly to get the eye mold done correctly, because it sets up so fast. On the plus side to that, you can easily have a dozen molds ready to go in an hour. Haven't had a chance to try the cheap brand of the clear UV gel yet, though.

    32. Omg this tutorial is fantastic!!!
I really have to try this since I'm a nail tech!
Can I just ask you what brand of Uv gel top coat you use?
My brand has a strong uv repellant in it and therefore miscolor black into a dark blue hue in daylight/sunlight. Does your topcoat do this or is it without uv protection? (I wouldn't want my irises to look blue…)
Thanks again for an amazing guide!!

    33. This is an amazing tutorial. I will definitely have to try it, especially since I already have most of the tools and materials at home. The only things I'd need to find is the uv gel, uv lamp and pearlescent pigments with laquer. I actually went to school for cosmetology so I have a lot of nail stuff already. This is such a well put together tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing it.

    34. Wowowow! *adds to my list of dolly crafts to try* Thanks for the great tutorial!

    35. This is so amazing! Thank you so much for posting this tutorial - I will definitely have to try that!

    36. THOSE ARE AMAZING! I really want to try this at some point. I like how detailed the tutorial is, and that you tell us not to worry about things looking weird. most tutorials assume you wont freak out if you think it looks bad early.

    37. uwah, that's so nice o.o Thank you for making so detailed and obvious tutorial. It might be a little hard to get all those materials but I really hope that someday I can get them and try this out. Making the eyes looks so fun ^^

    38. I've gotten all the things I need to try this out, I just haven't found the time. It seems like this would take a while to do! I will definitely share pictures if I ever get around to it though.

I will definitely store this tutorial away for later! Maybe our local group can try this at a meet sometime! All the trial eye pics are beautiful!!!

    41. I forgot to post this one! This is what the eyes look like in a doll. He's a DZ Leslie in normal yellow.

I have a few more pairs I've made but I haven't had a chance to take pics yet.
