    2. Wow i need to try this out! so damn amazing tutorial :chocoheart

Actualy i have one little question any idea if i can mix color (tempera/acrylic/powder) to the base? As my desired eyes have black or blue whites also if i am correct that powder can be clear right (for the base)?

    3. That's really clever! Love how much texture the iris ends up with. How big can you make eyes using this method?

    4. Wow this is amazing! I have some experience with acrylic nails but not with the UV gel stuff. Maybe some day I will invest in the materials to do this. ^^

    5. Ssapdra: Thank you! It's a good question! Since the base's material originally use for making nail art works you can buy it in any colors of the rainbow : D I also have 10-12 colors but i never had the chance to try them. The only thing i'm afraid of, how they react to the sanding. but oh right i always forgot this is not urethane, these materials are made to be sanded! Hmmm..... I'm going to make black eye base (I always wanted to try that color * ___ * ) and show how it works!

      Kielin: Thank you X3

Poofiemus: Size is depend on 2 things. 1: what i the smallest half bead what you can find on ebay 2: how good your eyes are to work on the iris 8D Everything else are not depending on materials and technique i guess ^^

Vividstar: Oh! Then you shound make a try! I LOVE UV gels ^ - ^

    6. Wow, superb tutorial! I will definitely try this. :)

    7. Oh my goodness! :aeyepop: This tutorial that you wrote is absolutely stunning! :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    8. I did see little mould for nail gel and I wondered if they made me think maybe you could make eyes with UV gel, good to know you can!

Thank you very much for the tutorial, good detailed eye making tutorials are so very rare !

    9. NiuKy+ looking forward to see the result :fangirl: and i need to look where i can acquire such materials and how much money i need to save because this is definitely the way how to create very specific eyes i need for my characters

    10. Wow amazing!

    11. That's a great tutorial, thanks for sharing!:) I couldn't imagine how do you make those beautiful eyes!

    12. Really? Because I have a non-doll project that requires some pretty massive eyes, like 50mm. (Well, with his scale I guess he could count as an SD size prop. XD Big dragon is big.) Would the clear parts still cure/harden when that large?

    13. This is such a helpful tutorial. But I have a question. This is done for more realistic looking eyes with pupils, but is the process similar for making solid color eyes like the ones that soom uses often for their MD's? Or for snake/cat eyes with stretched vertical pupils, would you have to find beads in those shapes?

    14. This tutorial is amazing! You've gone into such depth! I hope to try my hand at this when I can source some of that acrylic powder!

Can you recommend any different brands? I'm having a little difficulty finding Moyra stuff in Australia.

    15. peixunpey; AmiraNoir_Fox: Thank you #^^#

Vulpes: Your welcome~ Yes they are because It's difficult to find out the process. It took me years to evolve it : I

Ssapdra: I already started to make the colorful based eyes! They look good in this state! 8D I don't know the prices, only in Hungary so i hope you can find good materials on a perfect price! > <

      Cakitkath; lupurt: Thank you :3

Poofiemus: 50mm DD: Holy God of eyes XD humm yes you can do it, but there are some tips what i would do in this situation. The sculpt will be a bigger block of polimer clay. You should put it in a cold oven, heat it up with the sculpt until the material's recommended baking temperature, and then don't put it out from the warm oven, let them cool down together. This material has some volume loss while cooling down. It could crack if you change it's temperature suddenly. We call it "heat shock" in my job.
the most important thing: when you apply the clear builder UV gel do it by very thin layers, use small amount on every layer. and fix them properly with UV light. This material is very sensitive. i made a pair of eyes before and built the dome by only one layer because i was in hurry. It lost that much volume the iris bubbled terribly: http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a561/Neerium/IMG_5194_re_zpsd40798bb.jpg
All the "silver" parts are bubbles. and this happened with a small amount (these are 14mm sized). But i believe if you do it carefully this won't happen ^^"
Wow how big your dragon going to be? XD

Silvertora: Yes, with this method you can absolutely do a pupil-less and cat-pupil eyes! :3
      Old works but: http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a561/Neerium/Eyes o-O/IMG_8124_re_zpsee62987a.jpg http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a561/Neerium/Eyes o-O/IMG_7665_re_zpsd748dded.jpg
Abou the no pupil eyes, just don't insert a pupil. i pushed the centre of the iris with a brush's round back and that's all.
As for the cat eyes i sculpted not only the iris pattern but the pupil too, and then i just paint it black. ^^

      MissAniThrope
: Unfortunately i haven't tried many of these materials. For the truth i had a lot of problem with Crystal Nails's powders and clear UV gel, they are expensive, the white stained grey and the UV gel yellowed a lot > >" so i don't recommend this brand at all. only their "high shine" is great~
I just asked my manicurist friend what is her favourite nail building material, and she recommended Moyra. In Moyra's store the lady said there are a lot of artist who use Moyra's acrylics for making eyes.. lol :D And they are great indeed!
I think you should search for them a bit on the internet, or ask a manicurist too XD When you find a store you should ask for the whitest white builder powder with non-yellowing liquid and crystal or glass-like clear soft or medium consistent builder gel.
These are popular materials, i'm sure you can find a great brand there too :3

    16. Yup, somewhere in that size, kind of egg shaped eyes. He's basically a 1/3 scale Toothless from the movie version of How to Train Your Dragon, or will be when I finish his armature one of these days. Those big eyes have been a concern for a while, but I think you may have just solved my dilemma!

Thanks for the tips! Thin layers I can definitely do. Maybe I can use that to my advantage--do some streaks with Pearl Ex on each layer, with some of the UV gel in between for extra depth. Not sure if that'll mess up consecutive layers though.

    17. Thank you so much for sharing this! You are awesome! Thanks to your boyfriend too for helping with some pics. XD

    18. This is amazing tutorial!!
I wish I could find all material in my country to do this
Many material that I did not know them :o

      again! Thank you for tutorial

    19. This tutorial is AMAZING!
I don't think I would have the patience/materials needed for this but holy cow! You really inspire me to try something to see if I can get it to work for me. :)

    20. Wow what a great tutorial I will have to try this sometime thank you so much for posting it!

    21. Regarding the pupil if you want it to pop out as the beaded ones do than maybe you can sculpt it with sculpey/fimo but well this is just an idea did not had a chance to try it out yet ^^

    22. incredible, you did a miracle, thank you very much it is very useful and impressive

    23. Thank you for sharing your eye making process :)

    24. wow!:abow: You know I did experiment making my own eyes for reborn but I never though about using nail acrylic powder.
Even using the classic clear resin for doming, it seem that your method would save a lot of time while allowing a lot more control of the results. I so need to try that!!:abow:
      Thank for sharing:thumbup

    34. The tutorials on here never fail to amaze me. Thank you for sharing. Your eyes are beautiful and your patience shows.

I would love to give this a go one day, but I feel I am on an inspiration overload right now.

    35. The title is a bit misleading, the nail-art and manicurist materials are not really "ordinary" materials.

Non the less, nice tutorial, fantastic eyes.

    36. And suddenly, I'm dying to try this.

Thank you for the incredible tutorial! :fangirl:

    37. This is awesome! :D Thank you for sharing

    38. Thank you so much! This is amazing!

    39. NiuKy+, do you reckon that, if I were to buy some sort of generic acrylic powder and setting liquid from my local beautician (whom I'm friends with and would actually sell me the stuff she uses) it'd be okay?

And with regards to the actual silicone rubber mould stuff, I was looking at 'EasyMold Silicone Putty' which I can source close to home. Thoughts?

    40. Amazing tutorial! You create such an amazing 3D effect!

    41. wow, I do not think one day have the patience to try, but thank you very much for this tutorial! it is great!

    42. Wow!!! This is so clever! Thank you so much for this tutorial.

    43. Well now I have no excuse to not make amazing eyes for my dolls.

    44. This looks interesting to me but it's a lot of work! I've been thinking of trying to make eyes just using polymer clay and some of those really small glass baubles that come from the craft store. I've seen people who do stuffies painting in metallic paint on the back of those baubles and using them for animal eyes and it occurred to me that I might be able to do that and just press the painted glass baubles into rounded balls of polymer to bake. You can bake paint or pigments and the glass baubles bake fine too. Might be a little less 3D than these are but I think it might work pretty well? You'd have to coat them well with varnish of course after you bake but I'm thinking it might be possible. I found 6mm-20mm glass baubles online. I bet I could find them even smaller though.

    45. I don't know if I could ever replicate this but wow such talent and creativeness. Those eyes ended up so beautiful!

    46. Just Amazing! I know I am gonna start some this weekend. I have all the materials on hand or readily available. easy to get items in the USA. just go to a Beauty supply shop for the nail stuff. thanks for the fabulous tutorial!!!!

    49. wow amazing!!

    50. Thank you for this amazing tutorial! Making eyes sure need time and patience. You could open a shop!

    51. Very clever tutorial! I wouldn't have thought of that!

    52. Wow the finished result looks so good I love projects like this and seeing how they all come together. I would never have thought nail art materials would be useful for something like this.

    53. WOW! That is so awesome. You have some talent! :)

    54. wow, that's nice. thanks for this!

    55. This is such a beautiful tutorial! :D Many of my OCs have really unique eyes that would otherwise be impossible to find, so I was ecstatic when I stumbled across this on here.

^^; I can't wait to try your technique out to see what I can come up with. Thank you so much for sharing this information with us~

Have you used things other than the half beads for the pupils?

    59. This tutorial is very good, I thought that it was more difficult. Maybe I will do my own bjd eyes later ! :)
