The Ai : Custom House Boys and Girls

i think he's sooooo adorable, i love him!

his face looks so young to me though, i can't believe he's a big guy - looks like he should be a junior or something.

 

This is the first SD-sized boy that I've ever considered buying and I completely love him. He's so beautiful and unlike the other boys from Custom House, and I really like his youthful face.

I won't be able to buy him, though, this year. I wanted to know if anyone knows his limit number? 20 - 100? It doesn't say anywhere that I can see and I'm not familiar with these dolls.

Also, does anyone know what his market value will be? Should I be looking to save $1000 to buy him later on?

 

CH limiteds are usually 5 or 10... I'm not sure about Hyun specifically. I've heard whispers of a tan version being released in October, however, and CH tends to rerelease some of their limiteds at least once a year with different makeup or skin tones, or as uniques.

If that's the case it's not very likely you'll find this Hyun on the secondhand market, though not impossible either (I've seen a Young Cyn float around once or twice, and he was a release of 5). It might do well to ask CH directly on their Q&A board if they will ever put out another version.

 

CH limiteds are usually very limited. Not at all like CP/Luts limiteds. Some of them have been to as few as five as Brynn said. You rarely ever see a CH limited floating around second-hand (and if you do, you're very lucky!). The second-hand price of their limiteds depends on the popularity of the mold. Some of them are as little as $850 or so, but the more popular ones (like Young Han) likely go for $1000 or more.

I've been thinking a little bit about getting a head and putting it on an old style CH body, because it's pretty cheap and looks nice. If anyone could give me any info about how it poses compared to other bodies, and things like that, I'd be really grateful

My Kitsuko (Soony-S) has an old-style CH body, and I've added her Luts hands because I preferred their pose/mobility. She needed restringing (she was originally very loose/floppy), but she now stands and poses like a champ :>

I made S-hooks out of 16g wire for her original CH hands (which were attached with string), and they seem to have decent mobility now. She's sharing the body with another of my dolls, a Volks F-08 head, so I've been switching the hands out.

There is a fix for the hand-mobility issue, someone (Paulkaiju?) had it posted here about a year ago, but I haven't had any problems once I switched to S-hooks as opposed to string for the hand attachment.

It's a lovely body (petite, beautiful belly, small perfect breasts) and I'm very glad to have mine :>

I love the CH body and have one for my RooA. I sold my Belita head with an old CH body (it was a good resin match) and have a Soye. It stands well, sits well, the posing is a bit limited esp with the hands but there are fixes posted out there. I never fixed mine but I wired the optional hands for my Petite Sariel and it worked well
Overall I like it almost as much as Volks. I have had Lovelyhouse, Hypermaniac, Souldoll, and Luts bodies in the past. CH and Volks are the bodies I prefer.

 

Yup, I love my old style body, too. They are petite and beautifully sculpted. I wouldn't trade it for the new body.

I second all the above opinions. I only have a Happydoll Dorothy to compare, girl body-wise, but my CH old girl body (sorry, deeply unflattering description of my St Mina) is very beautiful, poses nicely and doesn't have the dreadful thick ankles of a Happydoll. She is strung fairly loosely and I find a piece of foam in her neck hole enables a wide variety of head tilts. I would recommend the body, and the resin is a very good colour, pale without being colourless, a little more sallow than the HD, but very nice, in my humble opinion. Here is a semi naked pic, if it helps.

I got all excited to see Ruby (Luby) there as a standard. Then I realized I don't have any characters that could look like her.
Now that idrisfynn and I both have an Ai of our own, we keep looking at and wanting more more more!
I'd love to have a dreaming Choa head for my Audrey, and was happy to see that it would be available as a basic. Except I'd need a white head...painted by Uyuchagongbang...that matched her current face. Oh well!

sorry, I am completely smitten with the Cebee head mold and now I can actually buy her! I also think that the price is very good considering what you get, plus the ability to choose an outfit! They look like they're great quality too.

I ordered one back in november, and she should be sent this week. However, ever since the basic version has been made available, I've been having reservations about the one I ordered, which was the limited white skin. I'm afraid she will be too pale ^^;

I bought the white skin because back then it was the only colour available, and I liked the mold enough to make do with the skin tone. Now that a normal skin is available, I'm debating on whether I should replace her or not... and I've not even received her ^^;

I have yearned for this girl for so long, but her price was always out of reach. I am so thrilled she is a basic! And with such beautiful outfits to choose from! I wonder how long she will take to arrive...my Choa took close to 2 months, but that was in the summer when apparently the heat and humidity make working with the resin difficult.

I didn't get any choice of outfit, as I ordered my Lubi last month, when she was a limited only (but she does come with a lolita style set of dress and shoes) ^^

But I'd probably have chosen dress set #4 too, I like that one best among the choices given ^^

 

I'm so inlove with Lubi.
She has very similar facial features like mine..except my eyes aren't gigantic but close enough. ^__^
I think we'll order her soon..the news post said their office is moving, I wonder if we should wait until they are finished or if it doesn't matter?
Outfit 3 looks so adorable, I love seeing dolls with bonnets.

What browser are you using? I've noticed that their site doesn't like Firefox - if you're using Windows try it in Internet Explorer, or if you're on a Mac use Safari, or download Opera for free and use that. I know it works on the latter two on a Mac

My Red Hot Lubi has come on satursday. Apparently she was sent out on dec 6th, but I never got any confirmation email, so she was pretty unexpected xD



The least that can be said is that she is stunning... well, in my opinion, anyway! ^^

PS. You were right pianissimo, I find I like the white skin a lot ^^

I just made the order on Saturday and everything has been confirmed, though the charge flagged as "irregular" with our bank it still went through.
For those with trouble ordering, I've advice to update to the very latest version of Internet Explorer, otherwise their weird credit card thing doesn't work well.

Now I have to plot how to get a Sia..ehehe!

Going off on a slight tangent here, but what size eye does CH ship as defaults? I've read that the Ai can wear 18~20mm, so which is it? :0 If they vary from doll to doll, then which size does Cebee get?

 

I guess I've been under some kind of rock this month, I've only -just now- found out that Custom House made a Basic Hyun.

I fell totally in love with Hyun when he first showed up as a limited, but I lacked the money to get him then. I've heard horror stories of people trying to find CH limiteds after they sell out, so I figured he was kind of impossible after that. But now I'll have the chance to get him (even if it might be sometime next year...)~ !

After I stopped squirming with excitement, I noticed the basic looks a wee bit different. Under a careful examination I've deemed the mold to be the same, but is he normal skin now? Its a stupid question, I know, but the hair and face-up in the pics are so different I'm having a hard time telling. Thanks~!!

I'm happy about all the new CH Basics too, because this means I can put together a dream doll of mine: a CH Siwon girl! So yay for CH Basics!!

 

I got 20 mm blue eyes in my CHoa, which I thought were a bit big...she looks better, and more real, in 18 mm eyes. ^_^

 

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that this boy will be my first 1/3 doll, even though he's not coming for a while. He looks like a good deal, but I've never seen any of 'The Ai' on DoA before (and if I have, I didn't notice) so does anyone have any information on them at all?

For starters, what are their measurements? It doesn't seem to say so on the site, although I may just missed that one. How do they pose? Are they good quality (I'm certain that they are, but just standard questions :P)?

Oh, yay, Jin! I love him. I have a sleepy eyed version and I adore him to death. Well, down to the specs. I've got two Ai boys and I think they pose fabulously well. Granted, they were supposed to make upgrades to the bodies, and I've got older bodies, so I'm not sure what changes (if any) have been made. They've got the nicest legs out of all the boys I've seen (but this could just be me). They're 60 cm on the nose, methinks, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. The resin's beautiful and has a wonderful texture to it, and Customhouse is one of the best companies to buy through (in my experience. We've got 5 CH dolls in our house, so yeah, we're pretty happy with them.). The service is fabulous. I think you'll be incredibly happy with your boy!

 

I've got Jin's brother Jun... I adore him. CH is on par for quality with all the top dogs out there! I second everything Sammy said. I think they may have changed the resin color as well with the new upgrades (I have the old style) so I think it's more pinkish now than it used to be but is still quite pale. Don't quote me on that because I'm not entirely sure. I think the reason they're not more popular is because their prices used to be higher than everyone else out there, but people are still dying to get their hands on CH uniques.

Their measurements are pretty much exactly the same as SD13s. IF they're any slimmer or wider then it's in like millimeters.

On a side note: Interestingly, they were the FIRST doll company to offer international sales on the web! Before Volks or DOD or Luts or anyone! So they've been around a long time and are well worth the money. They were also featured in a movie: Dollmaster. It's a pretty good Korean suspence/horror flick (not really slasher or the like). Anu (of Tensiya) got her start with this company, as did RollingPumpkin and Heavybomb. So if you go with him you'll be buying from a company with a nice long track record.

I have an Ai Chamomile (Aneirin), and I love him to bits. He's a bit slimmer in some places than an SD13, but he's still the same size. Awesome quality, and I can just plop him down and he stands. Also, I agree with SammySoBlue... KILLER legs on the boys, and CH has good customer service. And they're very quick on shipping (Aneirin was shipped a week after I ordered him).

 

Guh, I wish that I could buy him now, but my mum is being evil about my money DX Its good to hear nice things about them while I wait, though

 

St. Demian (one of the dolls featured in Dollmaster) was my first doll; words cannot describe how much I love him. I'll go with what everyone else has said: Customhouse has beautifully sculpted, wonderfully made dolls. He poses quite well (and holds said poses without ever needing sueding or wiring), with the exception of his hands: the wrist poseability leaves something to be desired, but other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about him.

I also have one of the Little Juniours, so I've seen the new and old resin side-by-side: Korin (my LJ) has resin that is more similar in texture to the VOLKS pureskin. It's also slightly more peachy (though still very, very pale!) in comparison to Seiji, who, as far as I can tell, is closer to my CP BW doll in skintone.

edit: Oh, yeah, and as far as measurements go: I've found that Seiji can fit all SD13 sized clothes, but he does need pants that are made for long-legged boys.

 

Oh that's great. I love to hear that dolls are very poseable and don't need sueding, because thats something I don't think I'd ever get up the guts to do myself, and I'm cheap, so I wouldn't send it to someone else :P

 

I dunno if you meant SD or just SD-size, but I feel inclined to be annally-retentive and say, he's an Ai not a SD...lol

Anyway, I think a Jin is a good choice ^-^

I have a Customhouse Ai, Bin and I love him. He's got the old body, and despite it's limited posing it's really nice. So the new body must be wonderful!

The boys I have are Jin, Jun, Cyn, and two Bins.

Jin was the first CustomHouse boy that I bought. He's the same size as the SD13, maybe a bit taller. He can wear all of Volks clothing, and most of the boots. His foot is a bit larger than the SD13.

I love the resin! I love the body sculpt. He's slender and sleek.
