The Ai : Custom House Boys and Girls

How many times have you seen Seiji IRL now? XD

Well, anyway, you know how much I love Customhouse. St.Demian is my baby. He has a beautiful face (I like all of the CH headmolds, really), the resin is sturdy and doesn't seem to stain, scratch, or yellow easily, and he stands really well. Customhouse has some of THE most beautiful dolls, IMO.

My only gripes about CH would be these:

- Limited head poseability. Seiji can't look up or down at all.
- Limited wrist poseability. His hands tie on, so they're a little hard to get on and off, and virtually nonexistant with posing. Valentine linked you to a good tutorial on how to fix that, but I haven't tried it yet.
- Seams. Not a big deal for me, but Seiji came with some bad ones. Easily fixed, though.
- A personal gripe for the Event dolls was the super faint faceup he had. It was virtually nonexistant.

Overall, though, I love my Customhouse doll. To me, he's perfect and I wouldn't give him up for anything. CH pride!

 

If you've bought a doll from ch, when you order something on the site you can ask for a head part for free. this head part acts like a washe ror bottlecap and improves the posability

I just never stripped him down and looked at him with the same scrutiny I would a doll I was buying. XD
I assume if I ordered a doll now they would include the neck gadget, right?

 

Yup! They will include the neck part with the doll.

 

I LOVE CH

The resin is nice, and so relalistic. It made the new DOd resin seem really pink though

Head movement: Great. I bought him from Ryuichi, who had already put in a washer.His head moves EVERYWHERE.

Hands: I did the teeniest sanding on the old hands. and It's a heck of alot better. Though, the stringing does really mess it up. I'd reccoment S-hooks.

 

Thanks!! I found a site where I can get tiny s-hooks. I would change to those really quickly anyway. It's so much easier!! Good to know about the head, too. I was concerned about that!

 

My CH little jr. Zephyros is a little fuzzy, but not _rough_ to the touch.
It may be from mold release agent or from a very slightly rough mold surface.
I quite like the feel of it.

This is sounding better and better! ^_^ I was all ready to order a doll for my next character and it wasn't working out at all. Then someone posted their gorgeous Chamomile in the gallery and rekindled an idea I had for a character with a CH doll. It was one of the first character ideas I ever had and I will probably go for it now! Thanks for all the info so far everyone! It's been a HUGE help!

Should've mentioned this sooner, but I really love Custom House dolls. They put so much love into their dolls and are just the sweetest people ever. *^^*

My dolls are primarily Custom House. I have Custom House boy, girl, and Petite dolls. The big dolls are just a joy: they pose rather well, and the resin is nice and heavy.

My Petite has me by the heartstrings! As previously mentioned, resin on both Petites and Little Juniors have a "fuzzy" toucher. As Ann mentioned, saying it is rough isn't quite right either. It has texture to it, and I love how it feels.

According to Custom House (in previous posts on DoA), this is their new skin (new resin). It is used on all new dolls being produced and should be used on all future dolls, including big since big doll production has been on hiatus.

I've had quite a few dolls in my possession, but Custom House dolls are the dolls that made such a lasting impression on me. :3

 

Hm. I'm thinking of getting CH Fennel. But i'm curious, i want a doll that i can sew clothes for that will fit a wide range of similar dolls. I've heard that CH dolls are significantly thinner than Volks. So, that makes me wary, because if i sew clothes for a CH, it won't fit a Volks. Is this true? Should i buy a volks, if one of my main purposes in buying a boy doll is to make clothes to sell?

I think it's the CH girls that are a thinner than Volks...? (Brick me if I'm wrong, lol.) I've never had any problems in getting Customhouse clothing to fit my SD13 boys, so I'm pretty sure than their waist size is pretty similar though not exactly the same. (The belt that came with the pants didn't quite fit.)

 

Yeah, the Custom House girl body is significantly more slender. I think the Custom House boy measurements are roughly comparable.

 

I sew clothes, using my CH boy.

I've had no problem with sized. Pristine Crimson (? I think.) has one of my OOAk outfits on her Isao. It looks exactly the same.

 

CH boys are just a tiny bit bigger than Volks, (Just *this* much) and they are bigger than CP boys. For example pants sewn for a CH boy will fit all the other brands, but pants sewn tight for a CP boy will have a bit of a problem fitting on a CH boy.

 

I bought a pair of pants made for Volks boys, but they were too big - I could stick about two fingers in the waist. o___o;
I sold them as being marked SD13, and MysteryAya purchased them saying that they fit her SD13 perfectly...

Everything else I've bought has fit or was, as you said, just a *weebit* bigger than Volks.

I'm afraid that I haven't been much help, but I do have what appears to be a Volks suit that fits my boy quite well... as well as d.u.c.k. cargo pants for SD-sized boys that fit my doll, too.

 

For my CH Nyll, and my old CH Bin, I had purchased SD13 boy outfits and they fit fine

 

I've gotten SD13 sized clothing for Anei and it fits fine. ...He and Satoru have a bad habit of switching clothes, too. *chuckle* Satoru is a Volks SD13.

 

*whew* Oh, i'm so glad to know they're close to the same size. Now, to start saving.

Just another difference: CH boys feet are a bit bigger than most other SD13 boys feet. I bought 2 pairs of HappyDoll sneakers. One pair was way too small(it may have been a girl's sneaker), and the other pair just barely fits(you can see his toe poking at the end).

And also:
FENNEL!!!!!! I'm saving for one too!! They can be brothers! I don't think there are any other Fennels on the board!

 

Actually, you have to make sure the shoes aren't marked SD/SD13...I did buy a pair of Minoru World SD13 sized boots and they fit Anei perfectly. But, yeah, CH boys do have rather large feet.

 

The CH shoes are pretty big, though - my Chamomile's feet slide around in them, though they won't come off. He can fit in a poshdolls boot made for SD13, so its usually a safe bet to go with SD13 sized things.

 

I tried a pair of custom house pants on my SD13 longleg boy, and the pants fit like a dream! my boys tall boots were then tried on the CH boy, and the feet fit fine, but his claves are TINY!!! (compared to volks atleast)

 

True, they do have pretty skinny legs XD The poshdoll boots leave a lot of room, but they don't fall off or anything.

 

I've had no problem getting anything from the various companies to fit my CH body, including a SD10boy ... yellow suit thing... from Volks

 

CH boys have waists slightly smaller than Volks SD13s.. but I think their hips might be bigger. X3; (curvy boys! ) The difference is very slight, though, and as others have said, only becomes an issue with tight clothes...

 

You know, I think I've noticed this too - pants made to fit Volks boys are always a little baggy in the waist (this one pair leaves a gap so you can look straight down o__o;; ) and a little tight across the hips. (The same pair, the buttons on the fly keep busting open and Tiriel keeps exposing himself to the world! XD)

 

Regarding CP boys in comparison to all of the other dolls: Their height is in their legs, so not only are pants made for SD13 too large in the waist, but they're also too short in the leg for CP boys. Alternatively, pants made for CP will be baggy in the leg on any other doll.

And that's not even getting into Angel Region sizes--putting a Fair in anything meant for SD13 is like watching an eight year old try to fit into its older brother's clothes ops:

 

What size Monique wig is best to fit a Custom house St Mina? I'm thinking 8-9 but would hate to order the wrong size. I have a Hound wig that fits her fine and that's a 10-11 (I think) so maybe I should go for the larger size? Anyone who has experience of Monique wigs, advice welcome. Thanks

 

I probably missed whatever happened, but where did half of the unlimited CH Ai dolls go? They haven't been listed on the website for the longest time, so I figured someone here could enlighten me.

Well according to the website they are having a maintenance going on with their server so all the items will say sold out for a short time, but they will return in stock soon.

 

Nah, I don't mean sold out... I mean, some of them aren't listed at all. Like Bin, Sram, Siwon, Chowon, ect. aren't there at all.

 

They're redesigning the bodies, like how they did with the basic Ai girls. Supposedly the boys will be re-released soon, but they were also supposed to be released last fall (and a number of times since then). Obviously, that hasn't happened yet, as things keep getting delayed. (Unfortunately, I think part of this has to do with the popularity of their smaller dolls, particularly the Petite Ai.)

But they will be back, and hopefully sooner rather than later.

 

Maybe they are also having an upgrade like the girls did [Choa, Sia, etc] ^_^

Ooh, thanks, Valentine! I didn't know anything about that. I'm hoping to bring home a CH boy sometime in the future, so I wasn't sure if they were discontinued or something else. XD;

 

I know a lot of people are looking forward to the re-releases, it's just a matter of when exactly that will happen. I really hope it's soon; I have a soft spot for CustomHouse boys. =*^^*=

Can anybody tell me what's the difference between the old and new version custom house girl bodies please? also what type of heads is the old body fit?

The bust piece is different (new girls have a larger bust), and the new body is taller. I think that the knees may have been changed, too, although I'm not 100% sure about that. Also, the resin on the new dolls is more pinky-white, as opposed to the more ivory tone of the older resin.

Before the change, CH girls were among the smallest of the SD-sized dolls -- now they're a little bit more "standard" in size, so they can wear clothes from other companies more easily.

I have an older CH body for my Kitsuko (Luts BW Soony head, perfect fit) and I just adore her small breasts and petite size -- so it's really a matter of taste.

It's possible that older CH heads might not be as good a match for a new CH body because of the resin color change . . . and I'm pretty sure that the new resin color wouldn't be as good a match for Luts BW.

Andi's right - (huzzah for the OLD CH BODIES! i love my petite girls!)

For example on the bikinis that I make for the girls - the bikini bottom DOES NOT FIT the older CH girls, it's too big. It fits Lishe - and - it fits the NEW CH girl body. So, for sure, the butt/hips is a little bigger, boobs are bigger, and I also think they have new hands, too.

 

Andi and Sher thank you so much you so sweet to give me all that information, it's just i've seen custom house selling off the old bodies and was wondering which heads it might fit...also the difference.

I have the new choa body and they do have bigger breast, but not as big as lishes. They have more hip and my favorite new part is her little poochie belly. They do have new hands and I think that their thighs are slimmer.

Here is a picture of my Sanaa wearing one of Sher's wonderful itsy bitsy bikinis that was made to fit Lishe, but also fits Sanaa just fine.

Maybe so, maybe no.

Custom House makes limited editions of their standard molds, but also reserves some molds only for limited editions.

My Little Jr. Zephyros is such a mold; only in the limiteds & uniques.

On the other hand, CH turns out many wonderful limiteds, so it is not at all impossible to get even limited-only mold dolls.

Kiyono - i know! waaaah! i have the $ for him but i'm tryig to get a Yo-Tenshi so i'm sitting on my wallet and tryig not to be tempted! plus i just got new dolls from CH so ... aaaaaah, but he's ADORABLE!

idrisfynn - yup, he's in stock right now, with EMS included it's a really good deal for that price w/ all that you get. *sigh* CH BW resin is the most gorgeous, almost as nice as Volks FCS BW resin (though not quite as luminous, the quality is wonderful).

I'm so excited! Even though I'm not buying him! All of the new limiteds are white! I their white resin.
I thought my Choa, Audrey, would be the only Custom House doll in our family, but now that idrisfynn is reassembling a Young Cyn we'll have two. And for that reason I'm quite relieved that Hyun doesn't look more like her character than Cyn does.

Now I have to stop staring at him because I'm supposed to be finishing Audrey's dress for this afternoon's meetup.

 

I'm getting really excited about him now :'D
One thing though: For the Limited Ai, could you ask for a custom face-up? I'm thinking no and that it probably won't bother me too much, but it might need to be changed in the long run... and I hate causing trouble D<
