The Ai : Custom House Boys and Girls

Sep 28, 2004

    1. o_________o?!

      Is it like DOD, with the wierd groove? I never really noticed any grooves or anything...( in pictures)

    2. I have an Event St.Demian, and while I do love him to death, there are few complaints I have about him.

      - Limited wrist movement: This can probably be fixed by the modification tutorial Valentine linked to, but I haven't tried it yet. As it is, the wrist movement is...uh...non-existent?

      - Limited head movement: Again, can probably be fixed with modification, but it's really difficult to get the headcap off (I have to remove my boy's feet to do it), and he can hardly look up or down. But Customhouse is changing this, so...it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

      - Seam Lines - This is probably just an issue for the Event dolls, but my Demian had horrible seam lines. I just spent the day sanding them off; it really wasn't too difficult, I didn't think, but awfully time consuming.

      Overall, though, it's a lovely sculpt. He stands fairly well, no problems with "crazy legs" or anything like that. I'd definetly recommend the Ai dolls, especially with the new changes Customhouse is coming up with. :daisy

      (Also, Zoi...I'm not totally sure what you mean by the...ass groove? :? )

    3. At the top of the thigh. That seperate piece that attaches to the thigh? The ball joint piece? Leaves a groove?

    4. Do they mean for those who BUY dolls from them, or those who BOUGHT dolls from them? I have a Jupiter I bought from them, would they be sending me a head attatchment part for it? I don't really understand this ^^;

    5. Hehe, even I felt kinda "durrrr 8F" when trying to figure out what you meant at first but then looking at my CH boy's body, I see exactly what you're saying.

      front [IMG] back [IMG]

      I believe Ms. Miko is refering to these. (ur, right? :oops: )

    6. Aww, they're cute! Butt groove! xD

    7. I had 2 boys bodies ,I thought they were lovelt ,I personnally didnt have any problems with them :grin:

    8. I have 4 boys and one girl from CustomHouse. I love them! I find nothing wrong with them at all....I also own Volks dolls, one Unoa, one Souldoll, and one AR. So, I've seen a couple of doll bodies from other companies.

      If I had a problem with them I'd dump them....
      The bodies are lovely. And I love the faceups. ^^

    9. Pam, what dolls do you have from CH? *drools all over the place*

    10. azrael needs a head attachement peice ike WHOA. i tried using the volks one, but its too lose, so his headcap is being held down with tape XDDD

      i really dislike the stiffness of his hand posture and the limited movement.. I'm hoping for some extra hand parts like whoa.

    11. Like said before I found from playing with two CH boys (a Sram and an Anniversary Han) for just a short while that the wrist-movement is really limited. I'm thinking they'll change this in the new bodies though, so no worries about that anymore?

      I really like the way they stand! o_O So... stable. Volks has nothing on CH in that department. :lol:

      Niran can't move his head much, no. xDDD;;; They definitely improved the heads since then, though, because I had no problem turning Han's head this way and that.

      I think these were my observations. Pretty limited, huh? xD;

      PS: does anybody know what those butt-pieces are for?

    12. OH.
      I totally see what you mean now. :oops:
      I was looking at my boy's bottom like, "huh?" (He's still in pieces to be sanded. Grar.)
      But I see what you're talking about. It never bothered me, really...if you do any mods to it on Shin, I'd like to see how it turns out. :grin:

    13. Yup, that's it exactly! ^___^ I think it's kinda cute, too. It was a bit of a pain for me at first because Shin's body got REALLY beat up in shipping and those pieces on one of his thighs came apart, so I had to apxie it back together... that's one of the reasons why I'm considering filling it.

      If I do I'll totally post pics. It won't be for a while, though... his back tat is first in line, and that won't be until after I get back from Japan. ^^;;

    14. Hmm.. I have two CH boy bodies, and pretty much agree with what everyone's said... they stand wonderfully by themselves, but the wrist posing is nil. =\ I want to try that method in the tutorial some time...

      (Everyone complains so much about the headcap thing; :oops: Allistair has an S-hook groove in his head, if I remember correctly, and I just attach his headcap to the S-hook with a rubber band. ^^;; ) I'm really interested in seeing the new improvements...

    15. Nobody's mentioning the mitten hands? Man, while I love my CH body to pieces, and I can live with the barely there wrist movement, the hands kill me everytime. ;_; It's hard to make my boy hold anything, let alone give the illusion that he's grasping it. D: I wish they had optional hands or something, cause I'd be all up over those.

      And somehow, with the head thing? I managed to use both a washer and the s-hook with the headcap and it seems to have worked? It's actually fabulous, really. The headcap stays on and comes off nice and easily with a quick little grip and push. :D~ It's fun, cause I dun hafta use a rubberband at all. :D

    16. Ha ha, yaaay Yuki!

      Omg, we almost have the exact same dolls!! We both have Chowon and we both have Bee-As! The only difference is that my Bee-A is a girl! XD!

      DOLL SISTAH! :D

    17. *laughs* Tomo's on a CP body, believe it or not. I had noticed we had had the same sculpts before. Pretty bizarre, really.
      Your Nagi was the first Chowon I ever really took notice of. CH doesn't do his lips justice at all. He's a lovely boy.

    18. Before I run out and buy something that may not fit Florian, I'd like to know if any other brands of doll pants will fit Ai boys. I haven't had much luck with finding pants I like made by Custom House, and while I'm pretty good at sewing and capable of making my own pants, I despise sewing pants with a passion and would like to be able to avoid doing so if at all possible.

    19. Volks SD13 stuff should fit him, judging by the size of the rest of their clothing on Bastion.
      Except, there have never been any pants in stock for me to find out. *_*

      A pair of Domuya pants fit pretty well, too. I'll check to see if they still have them. :3

      Edit: All of their pants are out of stock (and some of them don't fit, actually. wth?) but their clothing comes in and out of stock, so yeah. Stalk this page!
      http://www.domuya.net/searchresult.aspx?categoryid=101

    20. Pretty much anything sized for "SD13" boys will fit a CH boy. He's slimmer than the Volks SD13, but has slightly longer legs. I don't have any Luts pants, but believe CP boys actually have bigger thighs than SD13 or CH? ::can't remember, will have to check at home:: so those should fit as well :) Good luck!

    21. I'm planning on getting CH 8th Dollcontest Event- Romio as SOON AS POSSIBLE (emphasis because I'm going crazy) but custom house does post how big he is. The only info they give is the size of his eyes. He's a chamomile, do any of you know the height and the wig size? Same question for a littel jr. since I can't bring myself to not love Mars, and maybe the petite Ai too since I'm not leaving this world until I get a Uriel.

    22. The Ai are approx SD13 size....
      im not too sure about the Petite juniours... i cant even spell it!

      James

    23. hes actulay a smidge taller than a non long leg sd13 boy - so 61 or so cms. can fit into all sd13 boy item except showes- thier feet are too big.

    24. Actually, they do. You have to click on "FAQ," and there's list of frequently asked questions.
      http://www.ainai.com/eng/index.htm?menu=faq&num=29

      It's slightly out of date, but since Romeo isn't a Petite Ai, he falls under the standard boy measurements of

      Height :: 63cm
      Wigs :: 24cm
      3 size (B/S/H) :: 24/ 21 / 27 cm
      Eye Size :: 18(Sram,Bin,Gene,Han,Rock,Cyn)
      Shoes size : 7.5~8.2cm

    25. Romio, ooooh lucky, he's a handsome one. My chamomile has no issues with regular sd wigs. I can't remember off the top of my head what the size is, though.

    26. Wow thanks all of you! I was getting awfully frustrated trying to figure out what size things I could get him.

      sammysoblue: Chamomile's preeetty, I can't wait to get Romio (I just hope I manage to get him before it's too late) Is yours very easy to pose?

    27. Maybe the Ai dolls are SD hight, but in overall size, they seem more like a larger miniSD.
      I had but just sold a St. Mina, and unless the "Event Ai's" are smaller, she was dwarfed by my std. SD10 in "appearence. I know that my Mina's dress would have never fit my std. SD.

    28. CustomHouse girls are smaller than SD girls. Shorter, shorter torso, more delicate in appearance. CustomHouse boys, however, as previously pointed out, are a little taller than standard SD13 boys, though they're slightly slimmer, too.

      http://www.krbussman.com/Misc/boycomparisonshots.html
      Karin has an excellent comparison of girl sizes. You can see how much shorter and slimmer the CustomHouse girl is compared to SD10 or SD13 girls.

      While the comparison photos show a CH and a SD10 (and the CH IS slightly smaller and thinner) ...the phots of a SOOM girl next to a CH soll has the SOOM doll absolutely DWARFING the CH doll !!
      Is this an optical illusion or is the SOOM girl actually that big ???

      I am asking because my SOOM Dillui Goomy Party doll is sitting at the PO 20 miles away, awaiting my pick up tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      That's 18 hrs. and 22 minutes away from the time of this post...now 18 hrs. and 20 minutes....

    30. The angle is a little awkward, since it's looking up instead of straight-on, but yes, the SOOM girl is several centimeters taller than the CustomHouse girl. According to the photo's caption, she's 5cm taller, which is a pretty big difference with BJD. =^^=;;

    31. He's pretty easy to pose with the exception of his wrists. But there's a fix tutorial floating around, if that bugs you. If you're like me, it doesn't make much difference. :grin:

    32. Well, if you look at the feet position, the dolls don't look THAT much askew as far as angles go. Not enough to have one doll by perspective alone seem a lot bigger. Which brings me to my other point...

      5cm bigger ?????????(!!!!!!!!)

      Heck, the SOOM girl's bust is almost as high as the CH doll's nose!!! The SOOM chin is almost to the top of the CH doll's head !!!

      That is a MIGHTY BIG difference in size...

      I wish i could see a pic of a SOOM next to a SD10 or SD13 (sigh) ...except I will when I get Dillui tomorrow...

      (I wish they made an affordable 120-160cm BJD, I would love to freak people....maybe she could have her own room????

      Oh, to have a doll like Kayuli Hiina makes, or an Alice by Yoshida Ryo !!!!

    33. Having never owned either SOOM or CustomHouse girls, I can't give you any information from personal experience. Hence, the photos or information that others post is all I can really go by on topics like these.

      *shrug*

    34. I remember running into this info when I was getting my first doll (an AI Sram), but never fear -- I have yet to find a pair of SD13 boy shoes that don't fit my two AIs. XD;

    35. I think I've asked this before, but I'm retarded and can't remember what the answer was.
      What about Luts shoes/boots? *currently eyeing a pair of boots*

    36. They're a bit of a mixed bag; check this thread for some testamonials on Luts shoes fitting SD13 boys. XD

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24785

    37. Nothing about the boots I want... (union jack, yo. xD)
      well, there's enough time until I get him that maybe somebody will try it out first. ^^

    38. WOW this topic went crazy! Alright then, I'll be looking forward to Amon if they're easy to pose. Blair's horribly strung, it's almost impossible to make her stand. What is it that's strange about the wrists?

    39. I always thought CH boys were a smidgen thicker in the back. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but my Chowon's butt seems to be bigger than my buddies SD13. :/;;

    40. I think they are... they do have such pretty backsides. ^___^;;

    41. I believe someone on here has said that Luts shoes/boots are hit-or-miss because Luts boys have smaller feet. I can say that the...Hard Metal Boots definitely fit since I tried a pair on Aneirin. : )

    42. So shoe wise I should just make educated guesses with the luts shoes?

    43. I searched and found little in the way of "reviews" of customhouse boys. Specifically resin and posability. I have a CP El and adore him and haven't been able to bond with the other 2 dolls of different makers that I tried after. So I am especially curious to hear comparisons of CP vs CH. How do they pose, how do they feel in person?? Thanks so much!

    44. I love my CH Jin! He stands well, sits pretty good (he leans back slightly) and his resin seems to be very high quality, as does his body sculpt.

      To me, he looks best full or 3/4 face, but there is something very special about him even so. He has a real presence!

      He's about the same height as my CP boys, but not quite as thin - and his feet wear a larger shoe. CH resin is a different color than CP, if that bothers you. (Me, l like diversity. ^_^ )

      I hesitate to compare more - my CP boys' legs are a little quick to fold - but I probably need to restring and suede them. ^_^

    45. Thank you!!
      The resin difference is OK with me. I think what bothered me about the 2 non-CP dolls I had was their inability to stand well and the fact that they were so stiff. When I pick my El up he folds right into my arm like a real little person would yet he stands perfectly. I like how natural he feels. I know I would not be happy with a stiff doll.
      And I adore Jin. He's one of my favorite CH boys! I'm going to go see if I can find pics of your boy.
      Thanks again! :grin:

    46. I don't have a lot of pictures of mine, because I redid his face-up and my painting skilz are teh suck. ^^;

      Here's one from my site:

      [IMG]

    47. Slightly OT... Does Jin have teeth?! :?

    48. Mine doesn't have molded teeth. ^_^

    49. Ok, it just looked kindof like it in some pics. Whew! ^_^;;

    50. I have a Special Jin. He's probably not strung as tightly as he could be, so it takes some fiddling to get him to stand, but once he does he's pretty stable. I can't speak of arm movement because I restrung them too loose, plus his default outfit makes it hard for him to really move his arms aroud. ^^;; Special Jin came with two sets of hands--the default ones have that limited wrist movement that people have complained about, but the other set moves pretty well--I just haven't changed from the default hands because the other hands are too big and his default outfit sleeves won't fit over them! XD

      He has good head movement too, he can look in lots of directions and look up and down pretty well. And his resin is nice and smooth--I don't have a CP boy to compare with, but Soom and CP are supposed to be pretty closely matched in body-size...and my CH doll is definitely weightier than my Soom boy.

    51. Yes, I've seen a few with teeth painted in. ^_^

    52. Janne Your boy is amazing!! He's beautiful!! :D

      shizalentNow that you mantion it I distinctly remeber my friends CH St.Demian being pretty heavy compared to my El. That's a plus in my book because it adds to the realism and "prescence". :grin: And I'm glad to hear about the head mobility. That was another think I didn't like about my other dolls. They has stiff heads that didn't look up or down well. Thanks so much!!

    53. I always had tons of fun with my CustomHouse boys. They were very stable when standing or sitting, and any lack of wrist mobility never really bothered me. (And if it does bother you, there's a handy tutorial to help that out. No pun intended.)

    54. My boy has a Customhouse body, and I'm really fond of it. Maybe it's just his tight stringing, but his waist joint poses beautifully, and he sits and stands very well. The resin is nice, too. I've heard a few people complain that CH resin is rougher to the touch than most, but Aegis' resin is very smooth and nice, even though he's not even sanded.

      The only real complaints I have are the lack of wrist mobility and the weird way his elbow joints work. If his forearms aren't parallel to his chest, his elbows won't bend more than about 60 degrees. :\

    55. Anei is a CH Chamomile and I adore him. He poses brilliantly and has a pretty wide range of movement except for his hands. I've done the wrist mobility modification which helped, and I want to suede his wrists, which should help further.
      His sculpt is beautiful...I sorta leave him without his shirt from time to time just to drool over his chest sculpt... ._.;

    56. I love the Ch dolls I have. I think they are beautifully made, and I think the resin is of a very nice quality.

      I have none of the smaller dolls....four boys and one girl SD13 size.^^
