The Ai : Custom House Boys and Girls

Sep 28, 2004

    1. I'm uber sorry if this is a repeat thread... but I barely remeber where I read what size AI boy's wear... @_x

      I was thinking.... Luts pants fit, but not the shirts.. Only SD13 shirts fit.

      And SD13 boy shoes fit....?

      Am I right? @_@;

    2. Luts boys shirts fit fine. =^^=

      Not sure about Luts pants or SD13 shoes, though.

    3. SD13 shoes should fit fine, I'd think. I've yet to find a pair meant for SD13 that *don't* fit.

      (And I've read elsewhere, when asking the same question, that Luts' boys shoes do fit SD13/Ai boys.)

    4. I did a search on this but didn't turn anything up-- if I missed a previous thread, please feel free to point me to it! ^_^

      I'm looking for information on the Customhouse Ai posing; I've heard their wrist movement is a lot more limited than on other BJDs but just how limited is 'limited'? Does it bother any of you owners out there? Also how are they for standing on their own and holding poses? I want the good, the bad, the ugly! Thanks in advance for any help :daisy

    5. The posing is limited. It drives me nuts, but I own four customhouse dolls. Obviously it doesnt bother me THAT much, you know what I mean? I have two old bodies, two of the newer bodies, because I own a jupiter and a mars - the new bodies have ALOT more movement, the wrists are amazingly better, they hold awesome leg poses (nico stood on one leg today!) and they stand well. The older bodies have very limited wrist movement. Erina and Nai stand well on their own, while the Sram I used to own didn't at all. It really depends on the doll.

    6. When I had Young Cyn and Bestman Jun, I had very little trouble getting them to stand on their own - less trouble even than my SD13 boy. Wrist movement was a slight problem, but it never bothered me too much.

    7. I think the deal with the wrist movement is that their wrist/hand parts are attached with string, rather than S-hooks like Volks or CP dolls.. so when you try to flex the wrist, it's not going to stay in a tightly flexed position like one of those other dolls might. ^^ Like aie said though, it's not much of a reason to not get a CH doll you like. XD If you're just shopping for a body with max posability, though, CH may not be your *best* choice. :blush

      wah, Val beat me to finding that tutorial XD I couldn't find it with the search :lol:

    8. I'm like Sherlock Holmes. =^_^=;;;

    9. I though Lut's boy feet only fit SD girl feet...
      :?

    10. I think the marketing idea is that Luts wants to be able to sell their shoes to other doll owners, too X3 But not having any Luts shoes, I really couldn't say.. I just know that someone here did say that Luts boys shoes were big enough. :daisy Obviously they would be large on the Luts boys, though, if that were the case... and shoes being a little too big usually isn't a problem.

    11. Thanks for answering you guys :D *going to check out that tutorial now*

    12. I have a Custom House Lavendar, and I love her. But the posing is hard, I'll be honest. Her right foot is ALWAYS bent inward, no matter how I try to straighten it, and she is stiff. Her wrists don't see to bother me and she holds arm poses well. She sits very well and is adorable when in that pose. Standing is ok, but I use a stand just in case, because of that foot turned in thing, which makes her unbalanced. She has a certain way of standing that is cute-awkward, like a teenager. It makes her look different from my Lishes, which I really like. The posing issues would not stop me from having another Custom House, but it does make me appreciate the ease of posing of other dolls I own... I hope this helps.

    13. Jenna is a champion stander and poser - she is a Choa, I think she's almost 2 years old now... and she doesn't kick, she really stands SO well. My newer Choa, Sabrina, is more difficult to pose. Go figure. I don't notice much difference between my Choas and my Lishebod girl, who is VERY kicky.

      The best posers I have are my little ones. The big ones want to kick, lol....

    14. I would like to add that Customhouse are supposed to be improving hteir body sculpts now. Of course, we won't know what they've actually done until they announce it... (they said in August! Can't wait! :D)

    15. Hmm, they are? I was planning to order a CH, maybe I'll wait until after August to get him :D

    16. I would just like to add that my CH boy is a very sassy poser - My luts boy stands around and looks all pouty and cute (yeah yeah) but when I plop Tiriel down, he sort of pops his hip out and gets this look like "I *know* I'm cute!"

      I agree with the wrist thing, it is limited, but it doesn't bother me so much.

    17. I wonder why shippingcost to the netherlands is much more expensive than to UK..it's like around the corner 1 hour with the boat orso..weird..

      It looks like the seller is saying it's the new body..^^..cool..

    18. Looks like the only difference between "old" and "new" is the colour of the resin...

    19. Oh, I think I know the seller.
      The body belongs to Anniversary boys- Rock.
      http://ainai.com/eng/index.htm?menu=product_view&num=1172

      Basically, the body's skin color has changed, now it's close to pure skin color.
      From the comparison photo, I dont think there is a major change besides skin color.

    20. He looks kinda taller to me... Or maybe it's just my eyes. XD Also, didn't someone say that the attachments for the hands etc have been improved?

    21. Yeah, bvesides the resin, the new body looks taller, and the feet look bigger too.
      The hands look a tiiiiiiny bit different. They might have fized the hand posability, as some people on DOA fixed it by sanding where the strong went through. So you wouldn't be able to see it in the pictures. The chest join seems a less bit floaty too.

      I hope this means they're almost done with the head moulds ^^

    22. Thanks for the response, everyone!

      Custom House did get back to me, and here's what they said:

      "Rolling Pumpkin told me that Sia and Siwon, Choa and Cowon are not officially related. However as they look very like brother and sisters, there are quite a lot of people who make them to be."

      Hm, so I guess that settles that. ^_^ As other posters have mentioned, especially with tarouchan's link, Miya is Cyn's little sister.

      And for something a bit more... surprising...
      "What made me most surprised was, Jin and Jun are not brothers!!!! They are in fact cousins.... I didn't know that either! T_T"

      It's good to know! ^_^
      Oh, and I'm going to post Valentine's link for other relationships (friendships) that were mentioned: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=144001#144001

    23. i *think* choa & chowon, sia & siwon are siblings, and i *know* miya is supposed to be gene/jin's little sister. i don't know HOW i know that, but it makes sense to me. :oops:

    24. *baps self* Gosh, the names would give it away, wouldn't it? o_O;; Hopefully that's right - I've emailed CH Ai for a definite answer, but I thought I'd give here a shot (faster reply!).

      What about Jun? Is he related to Miya at all?

      Thanks, giantbeetle! :)

    25. i'm not too sure about jun. to me, he looks like he could pass as gene/jin's older brother, and that would also make him miya's brother. but i don't know officially. and good luck trying to get a jun; i gave up already! :oops:

    26. Jun is supposed to be Jin's elder brother.

    27. Elder twin. =^_~=

    28. Where is oriscany and Valentine? XD They need to be in here to set the record straight.

    29. CUSTOMHOUSE is an incest factory!!!

      :oops:

      Haha, joke. It's really interesting to see that they have siblings! I didn't know that. I wonder how many other companies are like that. Volks has the tokyo boys, and a few other random twins/ other thingys. That's really cool. :chibi

    30. They were designed a few minutes apart? xD
      *sigh* I so love both of them...

    31. I'm here! I'm at my boyfriend's house to spend the Fourth of July weekend with his family, so I'm not on the computer as much as I normally am (which is usually too much.) =^^=;;

      This is highly possible. XD

      Anyway, I posted about CustomHouse relationships awhile ago, so here ya go:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=144001#144001

      Hope that helps clear things up. =^^=~~*

    32. :o what was i thinking of then? just goes to show you how memory isn't always right.

    33. Cerberus Project does, too. I know that Lishe & El are brother and sister, I think that Chiwoo & Shiwoo are brothers, and I'll be damned if Soo & Yder aren't siblings. :oops:

    34. Yup, Valentine is correct as usual! ^^

      Then, there are the 4 San Shin, which have a totally unique head for them. The heads for Evan Priest, and Something Romantic, are one of a kind, each.

    35. Thanks a bunch, everyone! I really appreciate it. ^^

    36. just adding to the thread... the event dolls Fennel and Rosemary are siblings Fennel being the elder.....

    37. Custom House wrote me back. ^_^ Wow... Talk about surprising! (See first post.)

    38. ^__^ Glad I remebered this thread... I want to buy some stuff for my boy after I order him x3

    39. I was wondering about hte shoes too, lately. Any confirmation on that? can Ai wear Luts boy shoes?

    40. Hurray! \o/

    41. I have a friend who has a Jun. When she purchased stuff for her boy at Luts, she said it didn't look right. I think the problem she had was with the baggy-ness of the garments. She said that she wouldn't order Luts clothes for her boy again because of the fit (which was such a pity to her since she really likes their clothes ^^; ).

      She's probably one of the most lax doll owners I know, and coming from her - the fact that she won't buy Luts clothes for Jun anymore - was a bit surprising. ^^;

    42. Huh, that's odd. I had both a Jun and Cyn, and the Luts shirts I bought for them looked perfectly fine on the CustomHouse boy bodies. I didn't notice any bagginess that detracted from their appearance...

    43. Valentine,

      I have no idea. xD I probably won't be getting Jun until way later... But that's besides the point. I don't see why they wouldn't fit... But I didn't see her Jun (he's the bunny rabbit jun ^^) in the Luts clothes. She put him in something else because the clothes didn't fit right.

      I love her Jun~ Such a pity that she loves her Nana to bits over him. xD She tells me how Jun usually gets beaten for being so naught. :3

    44. Hmm...I was always under the impression that Choa and Chowon were siblings...am I imagining I read that somewhere?

      Their face sculpts are similar, the names are close...*shrugs*

      I actually thought Chowon would be my first doll...and ironically enough, his name was to be Alecksei...But when the prices of Ais went up, I pretty much gave up on that dream. Plus I found the mold to be a bit too asian to be my little Russian monster.

      Now if only I could find a way to order through Dollkot... :|

      I totally agree. I still love Chowon. He needs some more lovin'!

      PS. Nagi will always be my first Chowon love! :D

    45. That's strange, alright.. O_o
      In this picture, Maddie is wearing a pair of Luts cargo pants and it fits him nicely. A friend of mine who has a Jun also wears clothes from Luts and it fits fine..

    46. Just want to add that I LOVE CHOWON! - even if I erased Yuki from my mind Chowon still being gorgeeeeous!

    47. Sorry to hijack this thread, but do Luts shirts fit SD13 boys as well or are there special shirts that do fit and shirts that don't - do they fall short on the arms or waist or anything? xD; I know this has nothing to with Ai-boys wearing Luts shirts but...

      As a compensation I can say that the Ai boys have slender bodies so I'm thinking just about anything from the Luts site should fit them. xD

    48. Hehe, I've got 2 shirts from Luts and they fit Ai and SD13 boys. XD I think they make their shirts pretty generic in size.. it's the pants I'd worry more about.

    49. Oh, I'm not getting anywhere near their pants. o_O; I can just see one of my boys getting stuck in it and me having to cut them up to get them out.

      And here I thought Luts boys definitely had bigger hips than SD13 boys. xDD

      Good to know I can buy shirts from them, though - thanks bunches, Jenova! =D

    50. I'm this close to getting my first 60cm boy
      And I've heard there was some problems.. I don't know all of them, but I'd really like to save the money, and buy things to fix him. I had trouble liking my first BJD, and I really don't want this to happen with a MUCH more expensive doll.

      This is more specifically for the AI boy body's... Can anyone help me?

    51. Mm...help with what?

      I really never had problems with my CustomHouse boys, aside from the slightly more limited wrist movement (which can be fixed somewhat with the wrist modification tutorial floating around). Both Jun and Cyn were tightly strung and stood incredibly well, to the point where I'd trust them alone over an SD13 boy body. They posed well, and I've never really understood why people think they don't. =^^=;;

      However, since they were tightly strung, their headcaps were difficult to get off; they weren't impossible, it just required a bit of strength and finesse. I would imagine that could be easily solved by the washer method or the Volks neck attachment piece. Actually, I think CustomHouse is improving the way Ai heads attach to the bodies anyway, which are supposed to be available this fall...?

    52. Oh, so custom house makes their s hook attach to the headcap? It makes it so irritating to change the eyes, I'm always paranoid it's going to fly back and chip the head. *_*

      Which CH are you thinking of getting?

    53. Yes, they did. If you check out an older news release from them, though, you'll see that they are planning on changing the head attachment mechanism, hopefully to something that will allow easier changing of the eyes. =^^=~~*

    54. I heard ( in the last couple months...) That there was some problems.. With the head, ect. I'm really used to the magnets DOD uses, so I want to fix that problem ^^;;

      I'm getting a Bin, whenever they choose to restock him. I thought I would get him oson, but I forgot that they are stuff updating the heads, and they aren't supposed to be done until August. :(

    55. I heard they were moving to the magnetic headcap system with their new bodies.

      I love the Ai boy body. Just as was mentioned, the limited wrist movement is a bit of a pain, like the old DoD hands. Also, they have a seperate ass piece glued to the thigh (like Unoa?) so they have an ass groove. ^^; I'm thinking about filling Shin's in with apoxie sculpt...

      Does anyone have the link to the hand modification tut??

      I really hope CH releases optional hands for public sale.... <3 <3 <3
