The Ai : Custom House Boys and Girls

Does anyone know the measurements of the old Ai girl body? I have a Luts/Customhouse hybrid girl, and she's in need of some clothing.

She is so beautiful! Makes me miss the good ole CH days. My very first SD was Choa, she has been thru many faceups and I love her still. I am not familiar with the Choye sculpt,,where did you find her?

@Slyphide I found her on eBay back in 2010. At the time I thought she was an older Custom house sculpt. I've become really attached to her softer looks, even though she is not one of the pre-shakeup sculpts.

at last she is all together! many thanks to the two awesome DOA-ers who allowed me to piece her together. And she's on the old customhouse body, too - which is my favorite, it stands like a rock, I LOVE this body. SO excited about her!

 

May I join too? I have this one, she's an older doll but I still need to find her a perfect wig, this one is just temporary. I am also looking for ideas/matches for her hands. I would like to swap them to something more dainty.

I happened to be perusing around tonight out of boredom and saw that this thread had been brought back from the ashes! It's been ages since I was last here, and it's SO NICE to see some love for these beautiful sculpts.

I still have both my Hyun and Sia. Although the character that had been given to my Sia (Lynari) has been reshelled recently, I just couldn't bear to part with her. Sia and Hyun were my very first dolls, and they hold a very special place in my heart. So now, she's joined a different collection within my 'hoard' and she now embodies the name and properties of the gem, Ruby.

My CHoa & Sia got new clothes for Halloween this year. But then we haven't gotten a good photo yet...when that happens I'll post their photo as they are looking so pretty in their fairy tale style.

Makes me so happy to see renewed CH love. Cthulhu and Sher, your girls are gorgeous; I have a soft spot for Choas. My own Choa is languishing in her box and in need of a new faceup. Seeing these beautiful dolls may just be the impetus I need!

 

Sylphide, I LOVE your faceups. SO inspiring you to repaint Choa is a win!!

 

I haven't been around much lately, but here's a photo I took today of my boy Alex (Hyun.) He's one of the most colourfully styled dolls in my collection and looking at his face always brightens my day a little

 

There is something special about the CustomHouse dolls. Solitary agent your guy would brighten any day, and I'm glad you shared him. This thread isn't very active, but it's one of my favorite.

 

Here's a pic of my girl Allusha (Cebee sculpt) from a local meetup. I rarely attend meetups now but I'm not sure if that'll change next year.

 

It was such fun running across this post and visiting with some of my favorite dolls from the pasr. I am still sorry I let me Choa go as she remains one of my all time favorites. Maybe I will find another someday but until thanks for sharing all,your CH beauties.

 

OMG. OMG. OMG! I think I just fainted. Luts has announced they will come out with new editions of ALL the original Customhouse dolls. I have so many questions.... will they come out with their original body molds, or will the heads be put on delf bodies? What skin colors will be there to choose from?...
They already put up some 1/4 size Ai re-editions and they have placeholders for some Ange Ai renewal dolls to comes. They have their original mold names but appear with the corresponding names of the Luts lines, like Honey Delf. Seems like a lot of people have already seen them and not noticed they are old Ai dolls at all.

They have already put the Gabriel and Uriel heads on the Baby Delf body.

I don 't suppose Luts will re-release all of the ai 's despite what they say, as Custom House had hundreds of head sculpts many of which were only sold once (like Warrior Earl ). I can't see some the headsculpts like st.damien and Mina fitting with the current Luts aesthetic either. But even so this is very exciting. I guess now we play the waiting game to see which ones they bring out.

 

Well, afaik, most of the "100s of sculpts" were slight mods of the known sculpts, not really new sculpts, most of them ooak (unique) or veeery limited in numbers. Even if they did only the basic doll lines, it would be a blast...

BTW, they have already started bringing them out, minis and tinies, they are only camouflaged by Luts doll line names on their site...^^ and, as Nancy pointed out, seem to be on Luts bodies.

 

The heads on the Baby Delf bodies are larger than the original Petite AI. Baby Delf takes a 9-10 wig! So these heads are larger than the original Gabriel and Uriel heads.

 

Still.....I'm just hoping that they will release the bigger dolls

 

But what body would you guess the larger Ai heads would be released on?

Jane, wouldn't it be something if they'd release these heads on Delf bodies? This would be a hybrid I'd be happy with...
BUT, their heads are large enough already...hope they don't decide they need enlarged as well or they'd start looking like Pullips! X0

 

I already think that CH and Pullip dolls look like each other! That is why I like them both! LOL!
I am glad I am not the only one who think they look alike.


And a CH head on a Delf mature body?
Speaking only for myself, I know I don't like it and I know why I don't too.
I tried it once many years ago with a Sia head and a Lishe body.
The simple aesthetic of the older CH head just didn't marry up with the mature sexiness of the Delf body.

 

Jane, that aesthetic issue sounds like the problem I had wanting a Ciel head on something besides a Musedoll mature body. X0
But most of my Delf aren't as curvy...I may have to try it one day just so I can see what you saw. On the other hand, I switched Choa & Sia's heads as Sia had the slightly taller newer body & to me Choa looks more mature so we decided Sia should get the "younger" body....
It will be interesting to see whether Luts maintains the aesthetics of CH or reuses the ideas of the sculpts to blend in with their own aesthetic. That's kind of what it sounds like with the little ones presented so far.

 

I agree with you, Sia is much young than Choa so it wasn't the best idea of mine to try that idea! LOL!

It would be horrible to think of the Luts artists having to just copy what went in the past. In fact I think it would be creatively stifling......what you think?

 

I am really excited to see what they do as well. I hope they make Choa and Sia. I have seen Choa on a Lishie body and it wasn't awful, but I would like to see her original body with nicer hands.

 

I prefer to sew clothes herself. although there are many outfits that attract my attention

 

My Customhouse Luby. She was an event head, and I put her on one of the old-style $88 bodies CH was selling a few years ago when they were trying to get rid of their old stock. I like the body because it's smaller. I put her together, gave her a face-up and wig and frankly- stuck her in a drawer and forgot all about her. Just rediscovered her and I really like her now. Here she is this year at Christmas.

 

^OMG you have a Luby! I've always wanted that one unique Ai Luby from Custom House years ago. Hopefully after Luts pick CH up they will release more of the Ai line.

 

Thank you Izam! What happened is I got an Iria, and someone else on DoA got a Luby. I had requested the Iria but the person who got the Luby didn't like her and I wasn't actually that keen on the Iria once she arrived. So we traded. She has been in a drawer for several years- I never did anything with her at all. But now I really, really like her. Weird, huh? Almost like I suddenly got a new doll! Glad to hear that Luts is taking over Custom House, they have so many great sculpts it would be a shame for them to just die out.

I don't think I have seen a Luby before......she is so sweet.
And I do have such a fondness for that smaller CH SD body.

 

I'm glad to see somebody bought the sculpts. With so many companies going out of business recently, or purging their old sculpts, it's nice to see a few come back.

 

cirquemom, she is really lovely. As much as I love the older CH dolls, I have to say I don't remember her. Thank you for showing her and I have to add of all the dolls/ doll resin from that time, CH resin has to be one of the best with age. Volks mellows beautifully, but it seems to me that CH never changes, or changes so very little. Just look a Luby, is her color not gorgeous? (Not to mention her beautlful face....)

 

Their resin really is very nice. I have one of the first batch of Dollcatch dolls, and even though the manufacturing quality was subpar, she has yellowed very little. It took me years to take her out of the box and enjoy her, but when I did, she was still fresh.

The original orange tan is holding up well and so is my WS Elf Choa but those are the only CH dolls that are....the rest are yellow!

 

Jane, I have Ju-Jak one of the first ever made. She is a Choa elf type and she's the same as she was when I first got her. All the others are boys. The only one that has changed in tone is one Ben that was made of the normal color resin. He has turned slightly, but it is not bad. Your correct the tan/ orange resin has not aged at all....or seems to me to be the same as the day I got him.

 

Hi, everyone, it's been a long, long, looooong time since I've posted to DoA. I was going through some of my old things, and I came across my dolls. They've been in storage for awhile, along with their items. I unpacked them last night and was hit with nostalgia and googled to see what was going on with Custom House after the Aidolls mess. (Apparently nothing much.)

I sold off a lot of my dolls, but I never let go of my Miya (aka Clementine). I've had her for over ten years, and not once did I ever think of letting her go. Unfortunately, she has yellowed significantly, but it doesn't deter or discourage me at all. I always thought her resin was yellow-hued (normal skin), so it's all good. What really affects her resin color is the lighting in the room. It can look pretty "normal skinned" one minute and banana yellow the other. :P

It's really backlit in this bedroom, but I didn't apply a filter, so you can see the color of her resin -- although I don't the photo is a great indicator lol. Also, I got a cat now (7 years together), and it was hilarious watching him investigate what was going on with her. He has never really been around such a large doll, and I put away my Barbies.

I stumbled upon a two-year old pic I have of Sirocco (Iriya head) which I took for a wig sales post. This wig is too big on him, and now I think it belonged to a Taeyang. I think it never hurts to post a pic every once in a while. ^__^'

I hope this isn't quite a necro... I am looking for photos of the 2005 Event Ai, Pine, Chamomile, Rosemary, Fennel, etc! My google-fu (and wayback machineism) hasn't brought me any joy. I have a bunch of CH dolls, and you know how it is...
