That Dolpa 15 with video (subtitled)

May 19, 2006

    1. Thank you so much for the subtitles!!!
      It was great!! ^_^

    2. Oh! I forgot to post one caveat: the name of the guy who is listed as a "marketer for Volks" is in question. Aimee tells me that his last name is one thing, and my former roommate tells me that the kanji for his name is absolutely something else. I told my x-roomie that the guy says his name is blah-blah-blah, but he insisted that blah-blah-blah was a different kanji and that yadda-yadda-yadda was what that kanji translated into.

    3. Thanks so much for subtitling this for everyone Mara! :abow:
I really loved the entire thing, especially how they were able to present just the parts of the dolls (which can sometimes be scary to people) as something really special and exciting in the context of customizing. :cake:

Also, I loved how when the shopkeepers saw the stampede, they were like, "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!!" XD :3nodding:

    4. THAT WAS GREAT!!!
Thank you so much for sharing that with us. WOw...so many dolls...so many people! That one guy had over a 100!

    5. LOL, I thought the same thing, that was priceless!

    6. Thank you so much for posting, Mara! (and your former roommate for subbing :D) I loved watching that - the stampede of frantic shoppers was hilarious. XD And I was pretty surprised at how thorough the video seemed to be. I'd only seen photos from Dolpa before, so it was exciting to see bits of it live.

    7. THANKS!!
      With subtitles is better *_______*

    8. So cool! X)

    9. 2 Part TV show added~

    10. What's the weird ceremony in the beginning of the first video? Sorry I know that this is probably a newbie question.

    11. thanks so much once again!
too bad, that I don't speak Japanese... if someone will translate it, I'll love him :3

    12. It's an omukae ceremony where an owner officially names their doll and 'breathes life' into them. Some like it, some think it's weird, some think it's just downright funny..but it's what Volks does when you get a new Volks doll (or bring in an old one), unless you politely decline.

    13. Actually, it can be hard to politely decline in certain situations. ^^;;

Usually, one is required to make a reservation ahead of time if one wants an Omukae ceremony. I've seen people pick up FCS at Sato or buy new dolls at various branches of Volks, and the new owners don't automatically get an Omukae ceremony.

However, I do think anytime Sato is open, there is always at least one request to have one, if one wanted to watch.

And on that note.. there is a chance somewhere online there is a copy of my MSD Sakura Jinny having an Omukae Ceremony. My first visit to Sato there was a TV crew filming for Chuu~in, a day time TV show in the Kansai region. I know at least part of the segement with me in it aired on November 17, 2005, because there was a notice about it in the Volks Sato Diary.

If someone could get the clip, it has an English translation of the text said in an Omukae Ceremony.

    14. The time I went to Sato, I was up on the second floor when an announcement came over the PA system. I had no idea what they were saying, but everyone suddenly went rushing to the first floor, so I thought that I had better as well, in case it was a fire alarm or something. When I got to the first floor though, they were just starting an omukae. It was really one of the most beautiful and inspiring things I have seen.

    15. Ehehehehe I found it terribly embarrassing and a bit discomforting, but since the people doing it took it seriously, I tried to as well.

I confess, being Jewish, the Virgin Mother Mary type statue made me uncomfortable as I do not prescribe to that belief.

The text also made me uncomfortable, as while I do love my dolls, I don't really think of them as alive, and the text has both elements of a marriage ceremony as well as an adoption ceremony and I have no desire to marry my doll. lol

Well, that and when they played the song "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love For You"

But it was filmed. I've thought about writing to Volks to see if perhaps they have a copy of Chuu~in. lol

    16. I've always wondered about their choice of music. :blush

    17. every time i watch these videos i always find myself wanting to know more about the characters behind the dolls that the girls all own...i see em and im like "oo..i wonder what his/her story is" :sweat

i wish there were more of these types of videos..they're so neat to see

    18. *sniffles* i wish i could understand japanese ;___;

    19. I'd love to see some more of these v ideos subtitled!

    20. Seeing the subtitled one was so interesting! I love actually knowing what the people are saying rather than catching random bits of sentances and words (my japanese is quite bad) ^_^;. I need to go to Dolpa once in my life for sure!

    21. Thanks for sharing.

      Geri

    22. Am I the only one who's seen this? In the "tv show" clip, they have a Playstation game! What is it? I've never seen this before.

    23. Ah! How very entertaining XD; I love the dolfie dance. That one's super adorable XD

    24. Oh dear...

The dollfie dancing surprised me because I've actually seen the ending of the anime the dance is based off from. I even have the song on my computer. XD
It was funny and cute. It would have been even funnier if they had boys dancing too. XD

    25. Thanks for sharing.

    39. Oooooh that was really interesting.
Subtitles would have been nice on the second one, tho*_*

    40. I've been wondering what it's like at the Dolpa's. But wow, that man that won the auction has nearly 100 SDs?! :o I wish I had that many! Anyways, thanks for sharing these awesome videos.

    41. I know if I had that many...I'd feel guilty because there'd be no way I'd have the time to pay as much attention to each and everyone as I think they deserve...And I'm possitive my lap is definately NOT big enough to hold that many while I'm on the computer or watching TV @_@

Anyway...that's crazy...all those people..and so many beautiful dollfies :aheartbea :aheartbea :aheartbea :aheartbea It's really exciting!!!

    42. oh my, thank you so much for sharing this vid~!!
the auction Liz went up to 530,000 yen, *FAINT!!!

    43. Very enjoyable and it's also nice to see that there's a video for restringing I don't know if it's in english, but should be easy to follow just watching...I hope.

    44. Someone made a thread about this a week or so ago...I know because that's how I saw it :P I think that thread also links to other bjd related clips.

    45. ooooh~! Thanks for the update! <3 I was looking for it on the thread, but like always, I was prolly typing up the wrong words.

    47. No problem, I just found it super funny. XD because he was like..."a concert?" what can it be? SUPER DOLLFIES!!

    48. I loved that too! The video was made ten times more cute by the narrator.

Oh gosh, so many dollfies in one space, I think I'd melt! :aheartbea

    49. Everyone there was so cuuute X3
Maybe one day they'll have a big popular convention here in the US. I'd go to it.

    50. I think I'd go mad. Seriously if it was that simple to buy dolls and clothes off the shelf, I'll be going there all the time on my days off.

    51. Thank you so much for sharing! *replay

    52. I'd go around hugging everything if I was there....

      Ah, so much love.
      But... 100?? WHAT WHAT?
      Does he have anything else?

      I wish I was resourceful/knew more japanese. Stupid Australia and its lack of Dolpas... ^^;;
