That Dolpa 15 with video (subtitled)

May 19, 2006

1. Thank you for the link! That was great to watch. I'm hoping some of the japanese speakers on the board can give us some insight in to who was being interviewed and what they were discussing.

2. If I recall correctly, this short segment basically introduces the SD hobby to the general public. They start off by guessing that a concert is going on as there are so many violin cases being toted around. XD They tell us some basic infomation about the average cost of the dolls, the type of fans, and so on. They show the dealer hall (and people dashing into it as it opens!) and various items on sale and their average prices (I think the eyes they showed looked like urethane Enchanted Doll, but it's just a guess ^^).
They also interview a few people as to where they've come from in Japan to attend the Dolpa, the winner of the auctioned Marie Antoinette doll (he has almost 100 dolls!), and the winner of the Customised doll contest.

3. I saw this before, but it's so cute, the little lolitas with their dolls ♥

4. Thanks for the info Shan!

9. Wow, there were SO many people! I wish I could attend one of those events! :whee:

10. That was fantastic XD I just wish I knew Japanese!

11. *plug* Anyone wishing to see a copy of this video subtitled in English would do well to attend the iDollatry panel at Anime Boston 2006 on Saturdaty, May 27 at 10AM...

... probably will be made available after the convention, too. Which is to say after Memorial Day.
:aangel: :aangel: :aangel: :aangel: :aangel: :aangel:

12. Awww!! That is so cool!!! :D It's so cute to see all the excited Japanese fans saying "Super Dollfie"!! :chibi

I wonder if the one American lady they interveiwed is a member of DoA? I hope so! :) That must have been an awesome experience. :daisy

I never knew that people were so excited at Dolpas!! :o I hope if I ever get to go to one I won't get run over by fellow doll-lovers! *_*

Thanks so much for sharing! :aangel:

13. Holy Snap! It's crazy! I now have much more appreciation for people who resell their Dolpa goods. I had to lol when they all started running. I would be so confused if I went XD

14. *O*! That was awesome! Kinda makes me wish that I know Japanses.. Well.. I might not know Japanese but I understand some of the Japanese Kanji.. Cause I speak Chinese.. ROFL.. yeah.. I love the video.. sooo many dollfie fans.. acording to the video there were.. um... 15,000 people showed up! ^o^

15. The american they interviewed is Nat who runs the Lunar Ark forum for 1/6 doll customizers. It was her first time being able to attend Dolpa now that she's living in Japan.

16. Awesomeness. :)

17. Ow tankies for the link it was great fun

18. That was really fascinating! I love the beginning, where the guy's like, "Concert? Eh?" and the girl's like, "HEH 8D;;;" The teeth scare me though, oh GOD, the teeth! Orthodontics, people, please!

19. This is just so adorable. Thanks for sharing. :3

20. Too cute! I love the way they say Super Dollfie ^^ and I didn't know that people use violin cases to carry their dolls o.o

21. Before the soft cases came out, Volks sold a modified version of a violin case to carry dolls in. I think they still sell it in some of their stores in Japan.

22. Thanks for sharing^^

23. Wow, thanks. ^__^ That was very fun to watch. And that blond Link is such a hottie!

27. Aw thanks so much for showing this! I really appreciate it.
It was so cool to SEE so many people who love Super Dollfie.
I loved the La Reine Marie Antoinette SD as well. Does anyone know how much she went for? I would really like to know what to expect from the Dolpa Auctions...
Thanks again, everyone was so cute and I really loved it!

28. To Starfighter : The La Reine Marie Antoinette SD was sold to the Mr. for 530000yen XD

29. Wow I've seen Momoko go for higher than that..gives me hope ♥

30. Yes! Saw 2 different models at the Ginza store recently! Alex

Thanks for the link to the great video!

31. I've been waiting for this thing to load for the last hour and so far I've only gotten it to play the first six seconds. Does anyone have another way for me to see this? YouTube never cooperates with me on this computer >_____>;

32. Thanks for the link! Haha I was pronouncing "dollfie" wrong all this time ^^;

33. Too cool! How much do they go for?

34. Haha! I got it to work! So adorable ;3

35. awesome! That was adorable.

36. I finally had a chance to sit down and watch this super cute video -- made me wish that I could have gone again this year. I watched it with Xie (Carol) and now she seems a little homesick. :(

37. The best part was seeing girls dressed up as loli's with their dolls
It was so cute
When I go to the Anime North con I will be doing the same all weekend!

And I knew dolpas were popular, but I had no idea about how crazy they seem...
but the rush makes me want to go to one so badly
need to learn Japanese..
and I hope to see a subbed version of this vid one day

38. omg that was amazing to see! I want the I <3 SD shirt that lady was wearing!

39. :ablink: is..is that.. heaven?
wowowowow!! that was so cool!

40. Wow, I wish I could go to that so badly!! Well hopefully my plan to go teach english in Japan for a year will work out and I can attend :D

I caught some of the video but it would be nice to see it subtitled ^^

41. I particularly enjoyed the MAD DASH to the doll tables, lol.

42. XD I enjoyed playing "Guess the Head Mold! 8D" And that dealer's room... ohmygod, that dealer's room... T__________T I MUST attend a DP while I'm in Japan.

43. Oh wow! O_O Thats the best thing ever. I wish I owned a BJD when I was in japan. ;_; It would have been 2X funer. XD

44. Can you only bring Volks to Dolpas? XD It looks like they'd have a hard time keeping track, if someone did bring a non-Volks along.

(not that it matters since I HAVE A VOLKS *head explodes* but still... XD)

45. Just like with all Volks events, it's only polite to not bring dolls other than theirs. Dolpa is a wonderful event and I'm sure that it costs them a small fortune to put them on for their fans.

46. Awesome!! :D Thank you so much!! :sumomo:

47. Thanks so much for posting this, Mara! It was fun to get a peek into the day at a Dolpa (no running!) and I've always wondered how much the auction dolls go for!

48. Woo! I actually said when I was watching the video the first time, "I wish someone would subtitle this....", since without understanding the words, it's just a lot of pretty dolls and people with a lot of money ;D hahahha.
So, thanks to your friend(?) and thank you for linking~

(by the way, OT, but I just saw your subtitle, and I looove L&O, and especially DA McCoy~ hehehe!)

49. ahh thank you :blush !!

50. Thank you! It was great to know what they were saying especially when the girls were running! I enjoyed having a peek at what a Dolpa is like!

51. yah! I love it!!
so cool to know what the fans say.. and all the dolls
This made my day! (hehe)

52. Cookie for you :3 Thanks alot.

"Hey! Hey! No running!" XD
That Liz went for cheaper than I thought she would. @_@ And that lady who is from texas, I wonder if she's on DOA :3

53. Yay! Thanks so much for subtitling the video! :D

54. Thanks to your roommate for subtitling/translating the video, and thanks for posting it Mara! This was my first time watching it and I thought it was really cool. ^_^ I'm impressed by the guy who owns 100 SD! And he's only been into them for a year...that's a new doll every three or four days. Woah!!

55. Very well done! I'm glad I get to know what they're saying. :)

56. Wow, that was very interesting to watch. I even got mum to sit and watch it with me. Thanks for sharing! :D
