It occured to me, Monday, that it was probably about time for me to receive a shipping notice for my order from June...it turns out I actually did receive it on Monday, and just didn't notice.

So, I'm going to have another floating head, soon (Dina).

I should start buying more bodies, and fewer heads.

Heads are so much cheaper, though.

 

My Wei Yue Jin SP arrived today! I've removed his head from the body as the body is going to a friend, but his head is sooo cute

Well, my FeiHuaDeng is still floating about somewhere, so I inquired with BJDivas about asking if TD might be willing to make a pair of high-heel legs to go with her (if she hasn't shipped yet, if she's shipped it's no issue). I wouldn't mind waiting longer to receive them with her.

If you're new to the story: I originally set up a layaway for FeiHuaDeng's fullset (white resin) back in June, but later learned that TD wouldn't be able to include the fullset outfit due to loss/damage with the fabrics required. Unfortunate but definitely not a dealbreaker, I love her cute face and everything about her - I'll just commission an outfit for her (for starters) and work on drafting things of my own for her. I also figured the extra amount could be put toward BJDivas shipping her on to me.

Later still, I realized the high heel legs aren't included with her fullset (I thought for sure they were), so that prompted me to ask BJDivas if, instead of the outfit, I might swap in the legs (which are less $ than the outfit), so fingers crossed~

I feel your pain about waiting. Yikes! Is the wait-time up to 10 months now? That's terrible! When I ordered Caesar, back in September 2019, I believed the wait-time to be 6 months. Dang! I guess I have a few more months to go.

I am on the 5th month of waiting for my Wei Yue Jin SP . Where did you even hear 10 months of waiting? I been told by multiple dealers its going to be around 6 months. Maybe add a month or two because of the virus/holiday currently if you had your order in before hand.

I know if you ordered anything but Tan skin it will by far quicker to get the doll then if you ordered tan skin lol. Alice told me people have gotten their orders who have ordered after me already since they been ordering normal or white skin. The curse of ordering tan skin it seems lol.

 

I'm not sure if six months is TD's thing these days. I was originally under the impression that six months would be normal (I ordered FeiHuaDeng's fullset, white resin), later learned the clothing could not be made, and I'm... still waiting and wondering, haha. I ordered her in June 2019, so I'm sitting at 9 months.

 

I would appreciate it so much if the waiting time would be shorter. I ordered normal pink skin, because I love palid dolls.
I'm sorry for you that tan takes to long. I heard several people waited 10 months, because they mentioned it on Instagram.
I'm also very worried because of the corona virus. My country has stopped delivering parcels to China and I think several offices located in China do not ship worldwide anymore at the moment. I have several other dolls coming from China this month.
I hope when Wei Yue Jin is finished everything works properly again. It's already a terrible waiting time and the virus extends it...

 

Wow! What is the deal? Why is the wait-time so long for Dragondoll/Telesthesia dolls?

(I haven't had to wait this long for doll since the Dollshe Comeback of 2010. I waited over a year for a Saint.)

 

Im not sure but I hope they improve greatly as I love some of their boys. Just wouldn't want this to be a factor in getting a doll... says the person who recently put in an order to ring doll xD

I say this could be worse of a wait time. Like Dollshe wait times. So count our blessings so in general with companies just assume a year and if it comes sooner then it's an added bonus.

Does anyone who has a Wei Xue Jin sp have realized the ears on the promotional pictures are different from the actual doll's?
I wonder why and if it's possible to get the ones in the pictures. I like them better.

 

What do you mean different? Wei Yue Jin SP has pointed ears and if he's the one you are getting then you are getting pointed ears on Page 4 of this thread aka previous page has a photo of the Wei Yue Jin SP in white skin. He has the same ears as in the photos. Owner photos tend to look different as well.

His promo pictures actually pretty questionable as well since it looks like he has two body types through out the photos alone. So the ears are also kind of hidden behind the hair so we can't see them well. But I really don't think they are different ears.

 

I pulled out my wei yue jin sp head and I'd say mine are the same ears, but I do definitely see what you mean. There's some promo shots they look a bit different but I think it's a matter of the blushing, the wig, and the angles

It's clearly visible that he wears different ears.

The ones on the promo pictures are quite small, pointy and a bit 'ripped' - especially the inside of the front is different with more details and spikes.



Now compare them to the ears he comes with (picture posted by bj.juns when he arrived)

It's a bit sad. I also like the ears he comes with, but they seem a bit more round and nice, while the spiky and ragged look makes him a bit naughty and that's lost. But I think I'm going to modify the ears accordingly... It shouldn't be too difficult. (I don't know why half of my text is blue, please ignore this xD)

 

Oh those ears. I didn't know you were talking about them while I thought you were talking about his actual pointed ears. Maybe ask Alice about the difference in ears and they could find out the answer in why they are different.

 

OH THOSE. Yeah, those are very different. I wasn't particularly a fan of how they sat on his head and sent them along to my split partner as they liked them and totally forgot he even came with them. I also like the promo ears better

 

I’m still awaiting on my replacement parts, but due to the coronavirus they aren’t allowed to go to work yet. I asked Alice and they confirmed that TD’s and other casting companies are not allowed to go to work currently per government mandate.

So yeah, we all gotta be patient for the pandemic to get under control and safety returning to China so people can get back to work without fearing catching the virus...

 

IzabethS, thanks so much for the info on the situation in China. This info definitely gave me an understanding that there will be additional delays. I have no problem in waiting. I just hope all the folks in China will be safe.

Oh yean this virus...
I live in China and waiting for the body from Telesthesia and 2 heads from Oasis doll. (As the shop owner I wain a lot more, but those are for myself) First there was a New Years holiday, now this quarantine I think you can now add at least 2 months for everything that you're waiting from China.

 

So basically 2 months from this point? I know originally i was suppose to expect my order this month or next month. But with the virus. i guess it will be another 2 months. I been trying to follow the news of it. Not much is being said honestly.

 

I'm also waiting for 2 oasisdoll heads (let me guess: Tian Qing and Zi Lan?).

I messaged them not long ago because I worried delivery might be delayed because of the virus.
They told me they will ship at the end of february/ early march and said if there is any problem with shipping, they will make a facebook post.
If they keep their word the production is not intefered by the virus situation.

Well, I don’t want to disappoint you, but that would be a miracle. As far as I remember the preorder was till 10th of January, and the official holiday started on the 18th (so they had only 8 days if you’ll exclude weekends even less). The holiday should’ve been over around 6th (officially it’s only 5 days in China, but BJD companies are not really hardworking ones). From the 1st of February the quarantine has started. Everything stopped. If I say everything that means EVERYTHING! Plants, factories, shopping malls, restaurants, banks, delivery companies etc. It was even forbidden to go out of your apartment, except going to the grocery stores. There was a period when even shopping for food was limited. You could’ve go out not more than 2 times per week.
So in this situation there was NO CHANCE that some factory was making doll bodies (since it’s a Telesthesia doll thread) or heads. Now, the quarantine is still not over, and nobody knows when everything will go back to normal.
Off-topic: as for the heads, I suppose, they’re not ready yet. I’m waiting 4 of them (4 me and my customer) and I still wasn’t asked for the second payment. But since I see this situation from inside being in China (I live in Suzhou, 150 km from Shanghai, around 650 km from, now world famous, Wuhan), I’m not even bothering them.
So for now, you can add at least 5 extra weeks of waiting for all the items from China.

 

Since the previous post was sent twice, I will edit it to tell more about the situation:

The production IS interfered with the quarantine, and again - NO EXEPTIONS.

That was kind of even scary when the country that never sleeps becomes a desert, like in the movies about the world apocalypse.
If you asked them 2 weeks ago they might tell you the truth, because 2 weeks ago we were expecting to go back to work on the 16th of February, today is 29th and we’re still home, like most of the country.

I have watched some videos on YouTube from citizens of China showing what it looks like in their cities with the quarantine going on. It's like a post-apocalyptic movie; all the streets were deserted and the few people I saw were in full-on hazmat suits guarding entrances to buildings. It was scary!

At this point, I'm not concerned with how long the wait-time with Dragon/Telesthesia is going to be. I just want the people of China to be safe and well. Please take care.

 

I'm also waiting for a Telethesia Doll! I've ordered my Wei Yue Jin SP in mid-November. He's actually my 1st full BJD ^-^ Would any of the more experienced TD owners on here have a super rough estimate of how long of a wait I'm in for?

So far it seems that most people got their dolls within a 6 months time frame. But the last couple of post suggested that it may take way longer than that >.< (even without taking the virus backlog into consideration)

What have you guys's experience been like so far? Thank you very much for your input in advance! ♡

 

@Sasha of the Crows I know I have just reached the 6th month of waiting since i ordered at the beginning of Oct for my Wei Yue Jin SP. Last month at the start as well I asked Alice's collection a rough estimate when I might see it. I was told two more months at that very point. But now we see the virus making its way even more now. I only expect an even more delay so wait times might go up to 8 months with TD's history now. You are in for a long wait either way might as well just start looking at eyes, wigs, clothing, shoes in the mean time XD You have time.

 

I definitely think the virus has interrupted so much of daily life in China that usual shipping times are all confused. I haven't heard a peep about FeiHuaDeng, whom I ordered last June, but I'm sure I'll see her eventually.

I'm also hoping to place a new order from TD for a few dolls in September (once I pay off my current layaway with Dollshe). Things might be moving along a bit more smoothly by that point.

 

I already did xD He's got eyes and a full wardrobe with multiple outfits already XD I ordered his wig along with the doll, so that's still on-hold but everything else has long been ready, oh well xD

To be absolutely honest, I'm actually toying around with the idea of putting another order in (since I desperately want both Junxi as well as Junxian) and even though it might not be the most ideal of times, I want to support the company and who knows how long I'd have to wait for those two if I were to wait another couple of months before I even order...decisions >~<

 

Sasha of the Crows, I commiserate with you on the pain long wait-times. I ordered my boy on September 1st of last year. Ugh! But, at this point, I have to be philosophical about it. I waited 13 months for my Dollshe boys, I guess I can survive this.

But, I'm very curious about the shopping you did for your incoming boy. Where did you shop? And, what size did you purchase? I have the feeling that the TD boys are a little on the thick side, and my slender Dollshe-sized clothes won't fit him.

 

@Rabbit-moon Hopefully my boy comes soon then we can compare to how thick they really are compared to a impldoll idol XD I been shopping for my boy and currently waiting back from someone about making a rather unique set of earrings for him. I trying to not have high hopes of them being able to do what I'd like so heyyy XD nothing like gathering everything in prep of the arrivals to pass the time.

I'd like to buy some clothes for my incoming boy. But, I don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that may not fit him. My boy is going to be on the TD 75cm Ver.1 body.

 

Oh you got the big big boy. I am getting the 72cm body since its the default one for my Wei. I still think he's gonna be an interesting chonker too. It will be a fun comparison either way

As for the clothing, I ordered most of it through Alice's and went with their 70cm boy range. My boy is on the 72cm body (same guy as Pooki's ^_~). I've dug through a lot of owner pictures on Weibo and found that he IS going to be huge height-wise but it terms of proportions he didn't really seem that thicc to me!? xD

He does have nice muscle-y upper arms but his shoulders don't look too broad to me, his waist and legs are rather small and slender as well!

Of course you never know before-hand but I've always found ways to make clothing work so far ^^ I like doing layered looks too, so even if a piece of clothing is not a perfect fit, I usually find my way around it ^.^

My worst fear are the eyes I got for him >__< They are ridiculously perfect for his character but I obviously have no idea if they're going to work out for him in the end or even fit :0 Guess I'll have to just wait it out x'D

 

Just ordered a 26cm Little Gloria as one of my first dolls during TD’s event. I got her as a fullset as I really liked her entire look, but now I’m wondering if I shouldn’t have because Alice Collection’s (where I ordered both my dolls from) told me fullsets can take 5-8 months TT Reading previous posts that the wait can be up to a year is lowkey stressing me out too, haha. I’ve waited long for items before (i.e. from group orders on Twitter), but this feels like a whole different ballgame! I want my little dollie in my hands so bad TT

Is there really any difference in wait times depending on the size of the doll And how do you all cope with the waiting in general? Even though I am still working (hospital employee) during this difficult time (stay safe everyone) I feel like during my free times I’m thinking of my dolls

 

I'm 6 months waiting. Nearly 7 now. It depends on the resin color, fullset, etc for how long a doll takes. They already had a long wait before the current difficulties. At least expect up to a year at this point for your doll. But it will be worth it. I been thinking non stop for my boy. I really want him even though I can't paint him right now. Just here and nude is enough to make me happy at this point.

Don't loose hope. Keep day dreaming of your doll. More time helps figure out exactly what your little girl will be like. Like her story, name, etc. Basically she will be your light/beacon currently!

I ordered a tan limited 72cm boy. I believe the Tan is whats delaying the doll ;-;

 

Do you happen to know if there’s a particular reason for the long wait times? I mean, aside from the virus, but I figure that didn’t help much. I wonder what the average wait time for an BJD is in general these days? I hear about 3-4 months but I’m not sure if that is accurate. . A year sounds like torture hahaha, but I also didn’t want to get a doll just because it might have a shorter wait time, especially since it’s my first doll!

I was thinking of working on a small page for my girl during my spare time, and I’ve ordered some supplies to make a diorama/display (let’s hope that goes well though since I’m not the most craftiest person out there ). Still working on a name too! I’m being so picky about it, haha. Tanned skin dolls are so beautiful! I got mine in white, but I really want a tan skinned doll one day ^^ I have an eye on a few of the larger sculpts on TD but I’ll have to save up some money first TT

I was a little curious, have you ever ordered a doll from TD before? I’m wondering how the quality of dolls is. I’ve heard good things but there hasn’t been a lot of reviews~

 

I was recently told by Alice's Collection that my boy would be ready in April *fingerscrossed* ♡ I was honestly surprised to hear this since I've "only" been waiting for 4.5 months so far and imagined far greater delays on top. But I guess we'll see...

I'm trying not to get too euphoric since you never know for sure with company estimates tbh >.< And who knows how things are going to look like in a month from now here in Europe as well as in China >.> I'm hoping that we'll see a change for the better and not for the worst but honestly, no one can tell rn :/

 

I’d be happy if I managed to get my doll in a similar wait time, but I know I probably won’t so I try not to get my hopes up I hear the situation in China is better but there is also reports of a potential second wave....so you’re right there is no way to tell ;; But I hope there’s no delays and you get your boy soon!

 

I never knew the exact reason why they are slower. Every company is different. My guess is they are either super popular just not on the bigger popular companies popular or a small work force. We can't really say

Thats good Make stuff for her to pass the time! I know in the time I been waiting I've gotten him quite a few things like his jewelry, working on figuring out his eyes, wig, clothing. I know last month I finally settled on a name for him I love Tan dolls so much and since I returned back to the hobby I kind of been ordering dolls that aren't in white mostly lol. Wei Yue Jin SP is the boy I ordered from TD in tan with jointed hands too.

This is actually my first doll from them I'm expecting. I felt like branching out for something new since I was a huge dollchateau and dollzone fan. I'm still a fan but I really like looking at other companies as they all have great stuff too. I heard good stuff about the dolls themselves. Just the wait time is the negative bit. Welcome to the BJD hobby where you spend more time waiting for anything and teaching you patience lol.

Oh? new photos? o.o I have hope for my boy soon I hope! XD i seen a couple of tan dolls from them. It will be worth it. Just long waits are long if its a company you aren't experienced with. Some others you have no choice but to wait lol so its more expected.

 

I suppose it makes sense since these dolls are not able to be mass produced! I still don’t know much about the actual process, though I’ve watched a few videos. But I think all the work and effort that goes into making the dolls is so amazing ^^ I do still wish the wait times weren’t so long though

I’ve actually been wanting to redo my bedroom for a while and now I’m finally gearing up to since I want a nice space to put my dolls. I’m buying a display cabinet, though I don’t think it’s a good idea to always put them in there because of the sun and all. Do people generally leave their dolls in the box? But I feel it might be a shame to always keep them in there.....haha.

The WYJ SP is absolutely stunning! Those ears Will you be doing the face up for him too? I wish I could do face ups but I’m still so new and I really lack any artistic abilities or eye ;; I hope to do my own one day though, for rn I just got company face ups on the dolls I ordered.

Yes I'll be doing his face up myself He's going to be a Gold Djinn who basically spreads a curse of tainted gold. Makes anyone who comes into contact with it become addicted/obsessed over it so they basically give away their entire families, home, money, everything to get more of it. But in the end they turn into Gold statues as thats the final bit of the curse.

Also I generally don't leave my dolls in boxes as long as they have a place away from sunlight and windows (unless you can cover the window so theres no light right there then you can put them there). A new doll of mine been living in her box until i can do her face up and get her wig, eyes, and outfit. I rather keep her really nice condition since I'm not quite ready for her yet. But boy she's beautiful when I do get her out to look at her.

I never draw back my curtains tbh and my room is pretty dark in general so I hope it will be fine? It’d be really nice to have my dolls displayed~

I'm actually a miniature figure painter XD so I'll be applying that to the face up. So i actually never done a doll face up before but I believe I can pull it off since its still painting on a smaller scale.

That sounds perfect honestly you should have less chance of yellowing beside the aging which is unavoidable.

 

Ooooh! I like the Gold Djinn concept, Pooki. (I'd like to drop that curse on a couple of politicians in my country, right about now.)

It's wonderful that you are going to do your own face-ups. I think painting miniatures should give you a good artistic background to paint face-ups. Certainly, being artistic always helps. Are you going to sew him an exotic Djinn costume? Can't wait to see what you do with your boy when he arrives.

Yeah! I hope the style I learned for miniature painting will help a lot with the face ups since they prob will be done slightly different then usual.

I do plan on making him his own kind of outfit since it shouldn't be too hard as its literally baggy pants and lots of cloth drapes XD

On the side note AC answered my question about when he might arrive. TD said he will be done about a month from now. Thats like the best news I gotten regarding him. So hyped to see him!

As of April 2nd, I have been waiting 7 months for my Caesar. I'm thinking maybe it's time to drop AC a little note and see if I can get an update on him. Though, I'm not going to pressure them. I know many of the factories were closed because of the coronavirus. Not sure where-and-when people will be allowed to go back to work.

It's funny...being stuck at home, I'm playing with dolls I haven't played with in years. And, the great thing about it is - I'm remembering why I bought them in the first place, and am falling in love with them all over again! (I love this hobby!)
