I was actually rather hesitant in posting this to DoA bcoz of various reasons...but here's the taobao list that I've compiled:

@peppercrushes: Kagamiya has been in the list for a while though, but changed its name to be Cotton now. But thank you anyway Pls let me know if there's a new shop, so the list can grow

@astraldr0p: Uumm...not sure about fully customizeable ^^ But they're certainly can make MSD, SD13, and SD17 size. Not 70cm though.

I actually found out that some stores won't sell to you if you order through agents. Sunny World and Tata's Paradise would be an example.

 

Then it is probably a good idea not to buy from their Taobao site but from their English site. Because if you buy using Alipay or whatever, it does not give overseas buyers any sort of guarantee or protection. I read from a Hong Kong buyer that they were not considered part of "mainland China" so she was not covered in the disclosure (this means Macau and Taiwan are also not China). When she had a problem with the order, the seller practically ignored all of her requests to; A) refund, B) exchange, because the seller had the right to do so despite the fact that it was the seller's mistake. In the end, she was only allowed a refund at a drastically reduced amount under the circumstances that SHE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. The seller tried to buy her good feedback. (this was not a BJD seller, so don't worry people - they were just selling some clothes)

The agents, on the other hand, have the items shipped to a Chinese address so they are covered. They can demand for the seller to exchange items if they get it wrong.

After reading this, I concluded that it is a lot safer to buy with agents. I guess the percentage fee we pay is like insurance that all our items arrive in the condition we were led to believe they were in, which is kind of sad.

 

Is that so?! Thanks for the information... I have been wondering why my orders keep being rejected despite ordering through an agent for more than 4 times..
It keeps coming back as no stock even though I can see other transactions being made to their site and going through...

Ahhh~ Any suggestions for clothes for 65cm Humming Dolly body?
Usually when ordering for this size its an SD17/ordinary uncle size on taboo right? (tert = 70cm is it? + so many other sizing ssdf/hound/etc..)
Or is it better to tell seller you don't know your size and custom?

TT.TT having a really hard time differentiating..

I tried ordering SD17 size from Crosschurch before, but their fit is either a hit or miss...
More of miss due to sizing, esp due to the pants..
They would be way too big and long, maybe cuz its made for a sd17 70cm doll?
No idea. Anyway, when I asked about the sizing issue and the seller told me to get SD17 cuz the SD13 size won't fit, cause it is modeled after a Volks SD13 doll.

Can someone tell me how to navigate on the TaoBao sites when nothing is written in english? The clothes look awsome but I cannot understand anything what´s written on the sites.

 

@Ruusu, the best option I've found is to use Chrome and use the built-in translation option. The translations aren't really the best, but they're good enough that you can fumble through to figure out what's available and what the options are.

 

You can get addon for Firefox etc. called Quicktranslator. It's very useful because you can highlight the pieces of text you want to translate as well as whole page. Obviously the results can be a bit strange when you are working with a language that's a long way from your own, but it works fairly well for Taobao sites and if you are buying through an agent they will usually help if you have any questions.

Caution would be recommended with Promise of the World, based on their past performance: /threads/promise-of-the-world-please-read-before-ordering.599309/

You may have had good luck with them due to being located in China, but their history has been to ignore orders from outside China, so international buyers should approach with extreme caution and not let their Paypal claim date pass.

 

Resurrecting this thread because it's super helpful! But also because @georgia's link doesn't work anymore Is anyone else able to access the link? There are a wealth of taobao shops, I'm sure, but as I don't know Chinese, I'm not sure how to go about finding them.
Anyone else have favorite taobao shops not listed here?

 

Wish we had a bigger shopping and review thread for taobao where people posted things they purchased and reviewed the individual shops. I had a bad experience with Sunny's world but had better experience with tata's paradise.
