As much as I want a SD girl, I think I will get this Tedros instead. I mean just look at him, he is just gorgeous in every way possible!
Hehe! I'm glad this version of Tedros has been so popular! It makes me hopeful that Iplehouse release dolls in this color resin more often. I haven't ordered my Tedros yet; I will almost definitely need a layaway & like to pay as much as possible on the first payment, so I'll probably place my order on Aug 11 & then make my first payment w/everything I've saved up.
May i ask where you see the info for her rerelease? Youre link says From Mar. 12th. to Apr. 11th. That seems way to far forward to be a realistic release time for ilpe.
If you look on the page were they have their limited they have her in the line up of dolls that are curretly for sale. She was also, bumped up to the first page from the fourth page.-->http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step_submain.php?b_code=B20070312035403
I know this may not necessarily belong here but realskin Asa can already be purchased! Seems the only thing stopping Ashanti from being this way is that a price isn't up for her yet.. I wonder what is making Iple release her right now? Why not wait til the Carina/Theo order period is over and give more of us a chance.
Maybe weather/climate conditions are good right now and in the near future, so that they are able to cast tan/ebony/realskin dolls with less grief atm? I'd love to see Benny and Ashanti in the brown tan as well as the darker ebony.
Hey guys, I asked iple and they said that was a cancelled layaway and they only had the one... she's sold out again now. I wonder who got her! Anyone here??
I ordered Ashanti via the CDS, she'll be the same as the special edition Ashanti. I'm thinking that I'd like to order Benny in rose white skin at some point and have an albino african doll
that makes me curious. once in a while i have seen some african-americans appearing to have albinism, out and about in the real world. they did not seem to be that pale. but perhaps a person who had such a severe degree of albinism (comparable to rose-white skintone) would not be able to go out under the sun? and so i would not have seen them. i'm not sure i've ever seen a caucasian albino person out in the real world in the daytime, and at night i wouldn't know if i had seen them or not.
Well, the main reason I thought of rose white Benny would be good for an albino would be it would be easier to put a face-up on her to make her an albino than it would be with the other skin tones, albinos have a pinkish skintone and even the normal iple skin tone has a slight tan. The only albino I know of who's skin comes close to being that pale is model Connie Chiu Well, I won't be getting rose white Benny to turn her into an albino, yesterday I had a new idea. I ship Piper and Stork from Storm Hawks. I'm thinking of getting Benny in rosewhite and sending her off to a customiser to mod her ears and dyeing her green, give her Stork's 'emo' hair with Piper's hair colour and having her as a Stork/Piper child (don't know if I'd go with Piper's eyes or Stork's eyes)
Ditto! I need an affordable ethnic doll, that looks a bit more like me in the skin tone department. I'm African American and I only buy dolls that look like me. Eventually I may breakdown and get a non ethnic doll, but before that I think I'll just go back to writing and not buying.
thanks for sharing dollstown, I cabn't go for the anorexic looking dolls, I'd be making fake food all the time for her to eat.
I have become obsessed with ethnic dolls. I even sent off for some special hair to make a variety of appropriate wigs since the closest thing I seem to find is mohair and even that looks like it's had a ton of relaxer on it. Here are my various girls, will post again once I get these wigs finished. Hopefully will get in some lovely twists and dreads and afro-gorgeousness.
What do people think of Dollmore's new model Keeley Sum? ^^ I think she is incredibly beautiful, especially the way her eyes have been sculpted...as soon as I have the money I would like to get her. In her photo's, her resin just looks so smooth and soft and ....edible! I'm thinking 'nice one Dollmore'! p.s. That being said, I would have to do something drastic about the teeth, other than this, she is perfect!
http://www.leekeworld.com/En/Product/p_view_option.asp?it_code=3978&B_catalog_num= Did anyone notice Smith? I really loved his fullset, but had no money at the time he was released. I wanted him so bad. He's very exotic looking, and it's great there's another option for Black males then just the ones released from Iplehouse. Too bad everyone seemed to pass him by.
I'll admit I've never bothered to look past his thumbnail pic before as that wig and styling wasn't for me. I think he has nice features though and would look great on a taller body. ^^
I really like the new Dollmore Model too. Amazing face. Now that they have stated that they will supply a modified, carved teeth part I'd love to see what she would look like with the new part. The Models are gorgeous!
Anyone have suggestions on where to obtain YOSD sized dark tan or grey doll? I have a non-DOA friend looking and I didn't know where else to ask. My apologies for any intrusion.
well, iplehouses BID can be ordered in ebony and/or gray, through their "doll choice"system.at the other end of the spectrum dikadoll has lovely yo-sd size dolls and has dark gray and , i believe, a darker tan color.
Impldoll also does a resin choice in the darker tones for their dolls. I do love the Iplehouse ebony though. I had a YO size, but I wasnt' nuts for the body, I do miss her though, she was an Ezrulie. I recently got an Aaliyah (YID size)in a trade, in the ebony color, she is amazing. I love the color of the resin. It's rich without being too red. Sugar Magnolia by stellamaris61, on Flickr
She is beautiful. I have always wanted a black BJD but could never manage to get one. I just ordered an ebony (very dark brown) Mika from Mirodolls. I love your girl's face-up, Stella Maris. Did you do it? That's the look I would like- very natural, very beautiful.
Aww, thanks for loving her cirquemom, sadly I did not do her faceup, Sugar has her default Iplehouse faceup, and as I am not her first guardian, I have no idea what was ordered. It is very pretty though, and natural looking.
I got my Miro Doll Mika. Had wanted her in dark chocolate- not a color they normally offer but I was told that if I ordered ebony and then sent an email requesting dark chocolate they would do it. Well...she arrived today and there is no chocolate there at all! She is black- like a very dark gray- without the warm chocolate undertones. So that was a bit disappointing. But she's still very pretty and I'm really glad to have her. Have not figured out the face-up yet. Took me about 45 minutes of searching to find this thread again!
Sorry about the color of your doll, Cirquemom, but she really is beautiful! There needs to be more African-American/black BJD's! I really love Twigling's Newkiru, but missed out on the preorder with the darker skin. Hopefully, she will be offered in a dark skin tone again. Anyone know of any other must-have SD sized dark-skinned bjds out right now?
So I have fallen in love with Iplehouse Benny special edition but there is none to buy any suggestions on any darker skin toned dolls around?
You can get light brown Iplehouse dolls through their doll choice system during the first half of each month; some months they have their ebony resin available (I believe it is meant to be every 3rd month, it was there in Feb, so maybe next month?). So you can still get a dark toned Benny and they will do the special edition faceup if you ask. There is also Luts Tan resin - it is a lovely chocolate colour. (A lot of the Luts centaur dolls have a Tan horse body if you're looking for pictures of it). Impldoll will do custom colours. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Oh thanks thats great advice! I looked on the website and it said the Benny special edition was unavailable? which is the dark toned version? Im not as fussed on the tan skin. I really like the very pale white skin or dark skin.
actually I see what you mean the tan skin is a lovely warm chocolate colour Also I will check next month then for the ebony version. Fingers crossed! and thankyou so much ktk8
Granado dolls also make a beautiful boy called Chaka, they said they may re release him later this year!
For anyone looking for a mature African man check out Granado's new sculpt Mars on their new Evol body. Their chocolate color is similar to but less red tone than Iplehouse Ebony resin. He is limited so do't miss him if you want him (July 3 to Aug 3 2015). I have not seen any indication of a rerelease of Chaka but Mars is similar. Evol is 70cm so taller than Chaka was 68cm or 64cm. http://doll-granado.com/models/mars
I'm betting it's Bronze, but be aware, the body has a lot of blushing. You can see it if you look for it.
He is gorgeous! I also love his hands. But I don't collect 70 cm dolls! I ordered a tan DZ Minas that I plan to make into an African American. I love Nabarro's Booth which is my Grail doll but I don't think I'll ever own one. So after a long search for dolls with AFrican Am features I decided to go with Minas. She has some of the features I was after and I'm just hoping I can pull off a good face up with body blushing that will give her an African American look. Wish me luck!
Hello everyone I am hoping to soon get an Ashanti doll by Iplehouse. Just for fun I thought I would send a link to this doll. Isn't he handsome? One day I will try to get him off doll choice! http://iplehouse.com/home/shop/item.php?it_id=1435907940&nhn1=en
Oh nice to see a revival of this thread pop up. I'm always on the look out for dolls that can fall into this category. I love Granado's Mars…every day is such resistance. And to be honest there is a slight chance that at the verrrrrrry last minute, he might end up in my cart. I already have 3 dolls by Granado (Chaka & Terra both in sunshine…which slip into this thread as appropriate). This year I said the only dolls I'd buy would be tan & dark skin dolls & I failed horribly . The one good thing is that my Nkiru from Simply Divine has been painted. He just needs a body and a proper wig. I think the other hard thing for these dolls is finding the right wig.
Yes! Wigs are difficult. I love the one you have there! But then maybe it's just the incredibly handsome man underneath it.
Btw, turns out he is a Tan, but he came out darker than usual. ClearSkyStudios - Here's a shot of my Taregan, Amaury. Amaury - IH Taregan by aernath, on Flickr
Thanks aernath! The poor wig is one I've been trying to get rid of for years but it's not even worth selling and it somehow always comes in handy…lol I love the Taregan sculpt and your boy is just loooooovely.
A friend of mine is looking for an African American doll that is light skinned enough to have freckles, but still look African American. I suggested the Iplehouse Cocori, but would appreciate any other suggestions as I am not as familiar with DoC. Thanks much!
Aeranth and mdonline03, love your boys! Their resin is beautiful and so are the sculpts. I was so tempted to go for Mars too but I don't want too many SD size. If he had been MSD? I'd have jumped on the chance to own a sculpt specifically designed to be an African American! He's beautiful.
Thanks. Poor boy needs a body though. He's just borrowing one at the moment. I agree about Mars. I think I looked at the Granado site and his picture almost every day. I think Crocus did such a great job in translating the features because he really does look like someone you would see walking down the street. I too am all SD'd out. LOL. Hence I held off too - plus, the thought of getting another doll with a tricky fit was making my head spin. If Crocus ever shrinks that guy (like Dollshe is doing with his fashion line)...I would be all over it. Wynterborne - What style & size is your friend looking for? I'm guessing the person is looking for female dolls because you suggested Cocori. Depending...there are several Iple dolls that will work or possibly Dollstown for young button nose child types. Twirling is a possibility...Plus there are so many ranges to PoC/Doc...I mean there's Nikki Minaj to Rianna to Queen Latifa to Whoopie Goldberg to everything else features wise. But I'd probably lead your friend to Iplehouse and recommend she check out their doll choice section where she can select a sculpt and the darker resin shades not offered normally.
Just putting this up here for others looking for authentic African sculpts. I do not know anything about the company. Classy Doll 66 boy 02type is on offer for short time ending at the end of the month. I would get him if I had the money but I am saving for another BJD that is a must have for me.
Thanks much, yes, she wants a girl, and I think she wants an MSD, but I'm not sure. Iplehouse is always a good choice, anyways.
Love tne Nkirus! ^_^ I haven't taken any recent photos of mine because he had to give the body back to the original owner for a while. (DollShe Pure Rosen in ebony) Man, I wish that Classy Doll sculpt weren't a limited! I don't have the money either, but boy if I did! They're a good price, but I just don't have that much.
Same! I always cry a little inside when I look at Granado and they only offer SD+ dolls. I also debated over Mars just b/c he is perfect (almost, if only he were just 20cm shorter). ~~~ I'm actually looking for a guy in the 47-55cm range, but I have so many criteria I doubt I'll ever find him: bronze to ebony skin, muscular, and mature-looking.
Hello everyone, I'm new to this thread. This is Dr. Adrastos Weathers, my very first Tan doll. He's a 2006 Luts/CP Delf Tanning Shiwoo that I bought pre-loved. I've had him since March, but he's finally coming into his own! He still needs a faceup, and I'm putting the finishing touches on the dreadlock wig I made him, but I'm very happy with how he's coming along! Ryu
Thanks aernath! Adrastos was originally based off of Neil DeGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist but has since worked his way into my Torchwood backstory. I have to admit, I didn't want to simply hot glue suede him since he's still in pristine condition, so I did the Tacky Glue method instead: /threads/tacky-glue-sueding-tutorial-lots-of-large-pictures.384899/ Since Adrastos is my first tan doll, I have to admit, I've been super careful with him, except for white-gluing the goatee onto his chin. Once he gets a faceup, I'll re-cut it and give it a better shape. Ryu
