The seller I'm interested in buying from has 14mm eyes, one with a 4.5mm iris and one with a 6mm iris. I've never owned a Switch head, or had a BJD with semi-closed eyes, so I've been unsure. From the Switch stock images, I'd guess they used 14mm with a smaller iris on Yozo, but then when I look at the eyes Switch has for sale on their website, they all appear to be standard sized iris' like 6mm? What to do, what to do! Do you think I should just go for the 14/4.5mm sized eye/iris?

 

I have a Switch Hahwa and a few other sculpts with very narrow eyes. What I've found (and it's personal preference) is that it's best to size down and also get a narrow iris option. This looks more realistic because they don't have the big doe-eyed look with barely any white showing. If I was buying eyes for Yozo I'd end up choosing 12mm narrows.

 

Oooh! That makes sense. I do want a more realistic look, too. Do you have any photo examples on social media?

Here's my Hahwa. Switch recommended 16mm but I am using 14mm with a Narrow Iris because his eye sockets are very small.

In comparison, here's Waseon where I only sized down. Switch uses 16mm but I used 14mm in a regular iris.

It makes him appear more innocent where I feel like Hahwa is more sultry and mysterious In the end, it's all personal preference I just found I really didn't like it when the iris took up the entire eye on sculpts with hooded eyes.

 

You’re seriously the best @poisonapple88! Thank you for taking the time to do that! And your boys are lovely! I’m definitely with you on the sizing down then! I love that eye size on your Hahwa and Yozo seems to have a similar hooded eye shape. So, they recommend Yozo to have a 14mm, so if I want a similar, more realistic look, I should do 12mm, right? I don’t know if AphelionDoll offers “narrow” but they offer a smaller iris?

 

Narrow and small iris usually mean the same thing. Just choose the smaller option for Aphelion Doll over the regular iris size. Glad I could help! and please share pics when your Yozo arrives!

 

@Sirens4Ever - Iris is size as radius of eyes as usual, 14mm eyes may have 7-7.5mm iris for normal situation.
I am worrying if 4.5mm iris is too small for Yozo, giving a staring look.
narrow/smaller iris size of 12mm eyes are around 5.5-6mm, depends on sellers.
12mm ball shape eyes have a shorten diameter than chess like eyes, the white of eyes will be smaller than Yozo.
using white color blu-tack to cover it is a easy solution.

Thank you, @mugenkaze! All of you have been really helpful. It’s been a good while since I’ve had a large scale resin doll, so I appreciate everyone’s feedback on what to go with.

I’ve ordered from Dolk in the past and never had an issue, but there seems to be more issues these days with shipping (even without the pandemic)? I’m wondering if I should just order the Yozo head through Switch or go with Dolk?

I would order direct from Switch. Shipping from Japan and even China right now is still severely delayed. You can choose alternative shipping options but it is extremely expensive. All packages I have ordered from Korea have arrived quickly. The only thing that has been slow is US customs from my experience. Plus, Switch has great customer service!

This may be an odd question, but what dolls do you think pair nicely with 65cm Switch boys (other than Switch)? As in siblings, friends, partners or whatever? Taking into account the height and aesthetic of the Humming Dolly 65cm body and any Switch face mold. Any ideas?

 

I wonder if Faithz will be getting the body? Or how hard it is to match a mocha brown body. *sigh*

 

I ordered rosy white Hwayeon and a 65cm attractive body to go with him this morning and I'm excited! I hope I don't regret not going for the 70cm -- it was really tempting, but in the end I figured I'd be happier going with the size I already have clothes for. I can't wait to start seeing side-by-side owner pictures of the two different sizes together.

Seeing the full body photos for the 70cm body, I do like the torso and wide shoulders. But something odd to me are the feet... Maybe it's the small ankle joint that makes the feet appear flat?

 

The ankle joint looks strange may due to foot size. Foot of HD70 is same as Attractive HD65, good for sharing shoes.

 

they are releasing the 70cm body. this will fit even old switch heads right?

 

@Ifiamondy Towards the bottom of the body page Switch shows six of their other heads on the body, + SWITCH +.

Personally, I think the neck is to thick for most of the ones they show.

 

Does anyone know if Faithz will be selling the Piano Cut or did I miss it completely? I didn't know it quantity limited

I'm contemplating getting the 70cm body for my Milktea Soseo. (mainly because I haven't been able to find a resin match for their milktea rose) However, from what some people have already mentioned here, I actually felt like the heads looked a bit small on the 70cm body which has me worried. I'll probably get it anyone because I don't have much choice, and I wanted him to be 70cm to begin with. (hence why I didn't order him a 65cm body because I was anticipating a 70cm one from rumors I had heard.)

I'm just hoping I don't regret it down the road...

@Aria - Switch HD70 is quite slim for waist & hip. They have a muscular 70cm body but same waist & hip circumference. I am struggling too. I want a normal skin 70cm body but the measurement of HD70 is little bit strange.

 

Definitely! I actually like the more slender body of the HD70, but I guess overall, I'm just worried that the heads in general are a bit small, maybe it'll be fine and I'm just being anxious and such, but won't really know until I see it in person. I probably will order one in the next 2 months or something when I can get a layaway. gotta save up a little bit first.

 

New suit for HD70 looks nice. The new body is very attractive when putting on outfits.
There is a new boots on HD70, matching picture of 2020plans.
New doll choyo & the concerto doll seems to be last 2 items left on the 2020 plans. Also, milktea Damhyeon is pending.

I wonder how many are available. I definitely want to try my chances! In other news, I also got my Switch package just now. I ordered the Pika Sweater and the Irish Cut wig. Time to change some outfits.

 

So with these raffles do you have to purchase the full doll, or is it like normal where you can just buy a head?

I was wondering if anybody here has/had an HD60 body, and could perhaps check a few things for me.

Mine arrived yesterday and I didn't get to inspect it much until today. I discovered very thin areas of the resin in the calves and lower arms:

These problems were also present in the hands near the palms, though it wasn't much of an issue for me.

Is this normal with the HD60 body? I have the HD65 Attractive body and it doesn't have any of these issues at all (It could also be because it's Mocha Brown skin, but it shouldn't really be an issue regardless of the resin color?). I left a message in their care board hoping replacement parts can be exchanged for them... (Just to clarify, I ordered the body directly from Switch in May.)

 

Has anyone done comparisons for milk tea matches yet? I'm wondering about Dollstown matches. I kind of want to hybrid them onto the 18yr body if it's possible.

 

I would also love to hear any response to Littlebirdzoom too. As I was wanting to hybrid the same way.

 

Tried to access the site today to buy the new wig and Scorpio shoes but it looks like their English server crashed while the Korean one stayed up. Still can't access it and the shoes sold out. I think I will stick to Faithz for these releases. Unfortunate!

Edit: OK after 15 minutes it came back up and the stock is still available. Anyone know if they have a different server and stock for international versus Korean? Weird. Glad I got them though.

 

@mionnaise I just received my HD60 boy body and it has the same issue too!! I guess it must be an issue with the mold? I f that's possible
@poisonapple88 Glad you were able to get what you wanted despite the struggles. I would assume they'd be different servers if it's a regional thing since you cant swap languages on the website itself.

 

@Hosh Be sure to contact Switch about it! After talking to them about the parts, they were happy to replace the calves for me, free of charge and postage. I'm waiting for my package to come in. Hopefully they're thickly cast as they promised.

Hello!

I recently got a Rusi (which was the last doll on my wishlist, YAY!). I finished her face-up yesterday. It's not perfect, but it will do for now until the postal services become normal again, and I can send her out to my friend in Australia. Her name is Raphael. I'm still searching for a body for her, which leads me to my question, what bodies can match her head? She's from 2016. She's my first Switch doll and I'm not sure if Switch is consistent with their resin colors. I've heard that Volks matching resins might be a good match, but I wanted to know other choices. I'm looking for a body that's hopefully 58-60 cm tall. Thank you very much to anyone who will reply.

I recently gave my Uhui-R a faceup, and while I’ve got a loooong way to go to improve, I think it’s a decent attempt!! Only the 4 doll I’ve ever tried my hand at, and possibly the only time I actually knew what I was doing.

Hi guys, I've just bought my very first Switch doll head! I have a Damhyeon Rosy White head now, and another Hwayeon Rosy White head layaway.
I am trying to buy them bodies, but I am not sure which body suits.

I have 2 plans:
1. HD60 body for Damhyeon, HD65 body for Hwayeon
2. HD65 body for Damhyeon, DFH 68cm body for Hwayeon

I prefer the first one, but not sure if the proportion go fine or not.
Or any other recommendations?

I suggest 2nd plan, Damhyeon head is little bit large for 60cm body
Hwayeon & Damhyeon have similar head size, better to hybrid in same class of bodies

@shinkei - Switch resin is quite consistent until 2016, nearly the same with Volks Normal.
I own a 2018 Switch, this batch is transferred to Luts Normal skin.
Having a pink tone and little bit lighter than before

 

I just got an email that my Rosy White Hwayeon order was canceled? I already paid for it in full and confirmed the charges -- there's no reason given in the email, just that it was canceled and it's listed as canceled on the site. I contacted customer support but I'm a little freaked out -- has this happened to anyone before?

Edit! Must have been a glitch -- apparently it's been SHIPPED rather than canceled. Phew!!!

No matter what I do the image seems to break so I will just link but I got a Switch Sohwa in mocha secondhand recently and he is just such a gorgeous doll. He came with a faceup but I did add facial hair and moles myself for his character. loving everyones gorgeous faceup work. I ordered a switch yozo when the head was being sold so I am excited to give him a faceup when he arrives!

Does anyone know how Volks sunlight skin compares to Switch Milktea Rose? If asking here is wrong I apologize, but this seems the most active Switch thread.
