Supia (MiniSup) Mini Discussion Part 1

May 25, 2006

    1. Really? What didn't you like?

    2. I'm not sure...when I first got to the doll, it felt papery and hollow. And then I did not like the hands. It lacked so much detail. Also, all of the head magnets fell of, so the headcap didn't stay on. And worst of all, the feet are so webbed they look like they're fused together. And the shipping time was longer than I expected. Everything just added up to an unpleasant experience. I mean, don't get me wrong, the doll IS gorgeous and poses wonderfully. But the low quality makes me upset...I've bought much cheaper dolls, albeit Chinese, which were better quality than this. I think I was too hyped up.

    3. I believe you have the right to voice out your opinion for concerned buyers like me.

I'm curious to know the why so that I will be prepared before my doll arrives.

    4. Hmmmm I have two minisups and I never noticed a papery/hollow feel.
I do agree with the hands, I hate them not because of detail but the shape and pose looks so weird. I hope they update the hands. I haven't noticed the feet looking any more webbed then other doll's feet, It's very hard to hollow out the gaps between toes without damaging them.

I can understand your disappointment though and I would recommend getting in touch with supia. It could be that you received a lower quality product which wouldn't be right. At the very least, it will be giving them feedback so then can improve.

If you like, you could post some pictures of the areas that you feel are sub-standard and I can compare them to my two?

    5. Sure. My biggest complaint is the feet, so I'll just include photos of those.
      [IMG] [IMG]

Magnets falling off is fixable and 2~3 months of waiting time is normal in this hobby. Some amount of resin between toes are expected, but this is the worst I've seen! And I'm convinced that they use some different resin or something. It feels more brittle. I currently have volks, fairyland, and angel of dream, but supia doll's resin definitely feels different when I compare. The cheapest doll I owned was resinsoul. I figured a doll worth ×3 more would be impeccable :sweat

edit: I contacted them, and got a reply saying that this is normal. I asked them if they used French resin, and they said they use Korean resin. What the heck is Korean resin??

    6. Supia is an artist doll. That is a one person shop. Sometimes there are areas where the artist is outstanding, like faces, and other areas that are not as exceptional. I do like Supia's high heeled feet much better than the flat feet.

I don't know when you got your girl, but there are new hands also .

Korean resin is a normal urethane resin. The resin used depends a lot on the casting service used.

    7. Ok I've done a comparison shot of spare feet I had lying around:

L-R: Minisup, Dollits, Raccoondoll, Fairyland, Withdoll (Special open toe feet for geta shoes)

Honestly I don't see a huge difference between them. The withdoll feet have the most sculpted detail but otherwise they're all alike in terms of quality. None of my feet have clear parts between the toes except the withdoll which was made specifically for geta shoes.

I can't say I've had any issues with the resin, it feels nice and smooth.

I think when they say korean resin they mean the standard type resin most companies have as default compared to the translucent french resin.

    8. I love her!

    9. @Calphedoll she's darling!

    10. I had no idea about the msd sized Supia dolls! Supia makes beautiful dolls but I always thought they only produced sd sized dolls. Now I'm happy ^^

    11. My bf just order a Yan, hope to see her soon! :) Does she wear 6-7 wig? i read about it somewhere, so excited cos its our 1st Msd. :)

    12. Hi amiable minisup owners, I've a question pertaining to the face up of normal skin Dorothy. I'm wondering if the normal face up is inclusive of eyelashes. This is because the official pictures of Dorothy in normal skin and face up doesn't seem to have eyelashes. Apologies for asking here as I tried registering for the Q & A board (Supia's website) but wasn't able to register after 3 futile attempts (the website keeps getting stuck at processing). It would be great if someone can answer my question as I'm contemplating between getting Dorothy (during the upcoming event) or Souldoll's Moa (event that is ending soon). Thanks!

Updates: Managed to get my query answered :) I can't wait for tomorrow's animation head event so that I can order her :love and get a gift head :).

    13. AAAA, I'm so excited! My MiniSup Dorothy (soon to be renamed) will ship soon! I ordered her back in early August and have been watching the status for the last couple weeks!

I have nothing for her to wear, though! Any recommendations on clothing and shoes that fit?

      • x 1
    14. Congrats @Riene ! Any clothes sized for "slim mini" should fit. I think these girls are slimmer than Minifee. I haven't had good luck on shoes yet.

    15. Body blushing and tattoo done on my Sujin! :XD::XD::XD:

    17. Thanks! :whee::love:cheer

    18. My MiniSup is still showing "before shipping" on the order status....and I'm getting impatient! She has underwear, eyes, and a wig coming in now. I really need to get her some clothing and shoes ordered!

    19. My doll is finally here. She arrived Friday, but we weren't home so they left a delivery slip. We couldn't go to the post office Saturday to get her, so today was my first chance.

The good--very very well packaged, nice sturdy heavy cardbooard box, lots of bubble wrap, the box was pretty and tied with a real ribbon. There were two cotton pads around her. The doll inside had a face shield and more bubble wrap, and they even sent a pretty pair of panties for her! Her eyes are a beautiful grey-green that I really like, and she is delicate, pretty, and stands well.

The hmmmm...I'm not crazy about her hands. The new style of fingers looks awkward to me, and I will probably be ordering her the old style hands as well as the heeled feet. Not crazy about her current feet, but my girls never go barefoot so it doesn't really matter. Somehow I'd just assumed that the heeled feet came with her, as they have with every other doll I've purchased. They did send a wig, but it's a bright carrot red, a very artificial color with heavy bangs. I know Supia won't let you choose the wig, but I so do not like this one. It's way too "anime" looking, and my girls are as realistic as possible.

Do I like her? Yes. I need to find clothing and a good wig for her. Wish I had a way to post photos, but I don't have an account anywhere like Flickr.

    20. Congratulations @Riene ! Too bad about the wig, hands and feet, but at least those are easy fixes.

Do you have an Instagram account? There's supposed to be a way to post photos from there at DoA.

    21. I'm not going to worry about hands and feet right now. As you said, they are easy fixes, and the doll herself is beautiful! The wig does bug me, because she looks so bald and cold right now without hair and clothing!

Does anyone know where I can find that identical wig Dorothy has on the Minisup page at their website? It's a criss-cross part and a brown-red wavy wig without bangs. A quick search last night didn't turn up anything close, but I'll have more time to look after Thanksgiving.

    22. @Riene If I had to guess, I would say it's a for my doll wig. Welcome to For my doll - BJD WIG, doll wig

I hope that works, if not you can search FMDS-1058 on the site. It's the 6-7 size version but fmd offers other sizes of it as well, I think.

    23. @Riene Agreeing with what @sakana_hime said. Pretty positive it's from for my doll. I have the same wig in black for my Yisol.

    24. She’s gorgeous :love Love the blushing and tattoo.

    25. I think that's the wig, too. Which do you think it might be? The colors on the sites are so different. The one on Supia looks reddish, the ones on the order form look red and blond, the color chart looks brown and golden. I'm guessing the coco brown is the one I want? Any thoughts?

    26. I'm pretty happy about the new small bust option. I'd love an elf girl with the new body.

    27. Guys! I just received my Hannah, but when trying 12mm Mako eyes on her, they looked too big. So I ordered 10mm eyes from Soulinaboxdoll, and really hope they will fit. What size do you guys use on Minisup's ?? I would love to see a photo of Hannah with 10mm eyes, just to know how it looks on her.. It's still not too late to cancel the order. Maybe 10mm on Hannah and 12mm on Dorothy?

    28. Thank you for sharing. I liked the new body but not the bust size. I am so happy they are offering small bust.
Does anyone have a comparison photo of white and normal resin?
      Thanks!

    29. Are the MiniSups considered to be a "slim minifee" or "slim MSD" type doll? It's so confusing, trying to find clothing for her!

    30. The wig arrived yesterday and yes, it was the right one!!! It's a little large, ever though it's a 6-7 size, so I'll use a silicon head cap under it. She's so pretty, and glad to have a warmer head! As soon as I get some clothing, I'll post photos. Thanks, everyone!

    31. My Minisup Hayul arrived a few weeks ago, and her body (bimong new narae40) showed up yesterday. Ta-dah!

She's wearing a mismatched pair of 10mm glass eyes. 10mm fits her eyewells beautifully, but the irises are a little large... But if you like that huge-doe-eye style, then they're absolutely perfect. (@TomDavy )

Also, I think this is known already, but the supia NS resin is slightly yellower than bimong NS resin, but it's a very workable match.

    33. I hope it is okay if I bump this thread up a little! My girl Epiphany just got back from a visit with @rianne for a new faceup and she's now perfect! I'm crazy about this girl!

    34. She's really beautiful!

    35. @Gally and @Alewife thank you! I'm so happy with how she turned out!

    36. Hi!

I got a Minisup Aasta secondhand awhile ago and while looking over her paperwork, I noticed a typo on her CoA (she has an oder number instead of an order number). I was wondering if anybody else has noticed CoA typos with their Supias?

EDIT: If anybody else ends up in a similar situation - I went to Supia directly to check her legitimacy and they were fantastic. Got back to me within a week, and CoA typos from Supia seem to be a thing because she's the real deal.

    37. I ordered a Hannah yesterday - NS with normal makeup. I don't post much on here but I will show her off when I get her.

    38. Congrats @Biancca14 ! We'll look forward to seeing her :)

    42. Hi, everyone. I'm searching for doll clothing sewing patterns that fit these girls. Anyone know of a source? Everything I can find online is too small or for larger dolls. Thanks!

    43. I get doll patterns from Lekala or Bootstrap. Multiply your dolls’s measurenents by 4, order the pattern and print it out at 25% size. Then add a seam allowance -I usually just freehand it. They fit really well.

    44. Thank you!

    45. I bought a Supia Sujin, second hand, last year but cannot find detailed measurements on the site. I know I can measure her myself but is there some sort of table to be found?

      • x 1
    46. I have looked for that information several times. Thank you!!

    47. Thank you @Alewife, you are right. I would never had found that!

    48. Supiadoll has a new minisup: Medora! She's a more stylized type of sculpt but she looks quite nice! :3nodding:

    49. She's very cute and different!

    50. Hi everyone,
I thought of sharing pictures of my event head with face up. She arrived a couple of days ago but her outfit just arrived today. Medora is currently sharing Alessia's (minisup Dorothy) body. Hope that you would like it and have a lovely weekend :)

    51. She is adorable! I love her outfit! May I ask where you got it?

      • x 1
    52. Hi Nancy,
You can get the kimono from a taobao seller. Here's the link "BJD/SD娃衣 BJD和服 和风山茶花振袖和服-淘宝网" . I bought the outfit via a taobao agent as my competency of the Chinese language (mandarin) is quite bad. haha have to pay agent fees as I can't really figure out the chinese characters and have to depend on google translate ;) However, the seller is quite reliable and you would need about 7 to 10 days before it's ready for shipping. Mine took about 10 days.
