Edit: What's the difference between French and Urethane resin?

 

What a great Memorial Day I am having. My Yan arrived this morning.
I am so impressed. She can stand easily on her own!!!I am counting my stashed away dolly fund. Now I must have Yisol
It is my hope to add a large one. I have regretted missing out on the Supia 60
Can anyone tell me if the french resin is heavier than the common resin I have? I only have a Volks doll to compare these to.The Volks resin is smoother and heavier.Then I have a SD Susanna

 

I love Supia's doll!!
Do you think she'll make a less mature breast plate for the mini Supia?

i was curious about BW also -- does it only come in the urethane resin, and not french resin?

I don't know if I'm really dense and missed you saying this before or what, but do supia dolls use faceplates or have a normal head cap?

 

has anyone tried 14mm eyes in their girls yet? (specifically yan) there is just such a better selection of 14mm than 12mm.

 

i'm glad to hear that it is just tight stringing, i will try to loosen her a little bit soon!

 

they either take 12 or 14 (or 13 for that one brand that goes on odds). the eyes my yan came with are really nice so i haven't changed them yet, so i'm not sure which size looks better.

 

To answer my own question, I think 14mm will fit her best. My 12mm don't look quite right, and the 16mm fit, but look too big IMO.

And in case anyone was wondering, her original glass eyes are oval shaped paperweighted flatbacks. Quite lovely.

 

yan will fit most unoa things, her bust is bigger though, so certain tops (non-stretchy ones) won't fit quite right. in pants and skirts they are basically the same size. she fits unoa/yo-sd wigs, a 6/7, her head is a little bigger than unoa's. her thighs are definately thinner, yan has "twiggy" type legs, unoa's are more womanly. narae's clothes will fit yan too.

 

Oh Joan is so sweet! Tell me please, does she have a moveable tooth thing like Narae, or are her teeth "fixed"

 

She came this friday ^__^ I just haven't had a moment to even go on DOA this weekend with all the business of apartment cleaning and homework (and fawning over her) Thank you again dollyholic and to supia!

that's what i've gathered. like the "softly she walks" bliss line fits both, as well as limhwa and n-dolls.

 

lilacangel: ^__^ I ordered a custom request...natural makeup base. It turned out slightly more pink, but I told makeup to do whatever looked best when it came to it. The eyes are just dollmore acrylics.
She fits into All the same clothes as our MNF so, and her body has many narae similarities, so I'm sure fits will be no problem.

This is a question for people that do their own faceups and blushing for their mini-supias. Do you find it more difficult to do the faceup/blushing for dolls with french resin? I've been debating whether to get the french or urethane resin and am leaning towards the french but a friend told me it was more difficult to do faceups and blushing for the french resin. What did you think?

 

I blushed my Narae and i felt it was much easier, but that might be just me. The pastels seemed to "take" faster than on other types of resin(Luts, Alchemic lab, Rainy doll, Custom house).

 

I cant say I noticed any difference - certainly not more difficult than any other resin I have painted.

 

I didn't notice any difference at all between doing face-ups on french resin and other resin.

and for those considering urethane resin: i was told by catrina that their urethane resin tends to have a lot of flaws, compared to the french resin which turns out almost flawlessly. that's why i decided to get mine in french resin n_n the urethane also takes a lot longer to make since they have to keep redoing it to avoid selling a flawed doll.

 

My Yisol, Quinn, is my favorite among all of my dolls. I don't think you will go wrong with a minisup!

All these pictures are making me anxious as I am waiting to order Yan. I have Yisol in French Resin, but considering getting Yan in the Urethane beige resin. Any have the Urethane and do you like it?

I briefly had a Yisol from the the first or second run, but I'm wanting to hear from those who've got them from more recent orders.

My beautiful (as yet unnamed) Yisol arrived last week. I find it significant that her name means "to achieve the spririt and dignity of a pine tree" and, sadly, this year all the pine trees in our area have succumbed to pine beetle kill.

She's everything I had hoped she would be, but surprisingly not nearly as sad as I imagined.

I ordered my Yisol from an ebay seller since I prefer to get my dolls shipped straight from Korea. You can order anytime, but it will still take 5 weeks for the doll to arrive since they make them specially for you. The seller is very helpful and speaks perfect english, so you can custom order your doll in either French resin or urethane, or with or without wig, or whatever. Just do a search for Supia. The shipping was super-fast once she was made - only two days to get from Korea to Canada, but then she got stuck in Canada Customs for 10 days.

I have a qeustion... tanned yan, if you sand her does the sanded place get lighter becous she is painted or is she made of resin that has the color all trough her and you dont see a difference?

 

my yisol arrived today.


she doesnt have a name yet (she's only been deboxed for about an hour now).
she'll take some getting used to. she's a really great poser, and photographs like a dream.
she looks really young to me, though...younger than my naraes, which isnt great because i had planned on them all being around the same age.
but this isnt her final look, of course. so maybe with some playing around i'll find ways to 'age' her a bit more.

oh, and she's french resin for anyone who might be curious.

 

She's still a work in progress and may even end up with a different wig and eyes. Her name may be Mehetabel. I am just in love with this mold!

 

My Yan is arrive ! I will certainly change the eyes....

Ooh, sounds interesting! My girl turned out to be a really old soul, which is what I really meant with "no sweet girl". She now has eyes as dark as a well, but very white hair. The wig is too big, though, so I need to find a new one.

I'm curious about shoe sizes for the mini-sups. Do they wear MSD sizes or a slimmer shoe? Suggestions, please, for shopping for these lovely ladies.

They do have quite slim feet, so some shoes may look a little wide on them. Bu generally speaking they seem to have average length feet, so most shoes will fit. It's more a style choice, I think. I'm curious to know if anyone has tried the MSD size shoes from Customhouse. They have some really pretty satin ballet flats.

I wanted to share Ffynnon, who is finally ready for the world. Her wig is from Leekeworld and face-up by me.

 

Which shoes work best for the miniSup girls? Are there any that fit better than others? I'm looking for some plain black heels.
I have a few pair of shoes & boots from various places on hand, including the Teen Trends ones, as well as Sharmin shoes from JuJu from when I had a Serendipity girl. I see that Yisol's feet are 5.2cm, but Narae's are 5.5 x 2.3.

 

Could anyone please measure one of the MiniSup's beneath the bust line as well as around the upper arm, right at the armpit for me, please? I'm thinking of getting a special dress for her and need measurements.

Under bust: 6"/15cm
Upper arm: just over 2", about 6 cm

Sorry, don't really know any specific shoes that fit. She has quite slim feet, about 1" wide. I've bought shoes from Dollmore and Mimiworld and they both fit, regular MSD size. I suppose it depends on what style you want.

 

Catrina, just wanted to say I picked up my yan yesterday, she is gorgeous! I love the resin and her posing is great.

Oh, while I'm at it, I have a little question. I was going to send off her head for a faceup, but it looks like inside the head, the metal pole is glued down on one side. (Do you know what I'm talking about? It's like...instead of an s-hook being inside the head, there is a metal bar and the s-hook hangs from that.)

Do you have any recommendations on how I can remove the head? I am a little concerned...
