Supia (MiniSup) Mini Discussion Part 1

May 25, 2006

1. I vote for Hannah. :) But either one would be cute.

2. I ordered a Hannah back in january and she's arrived and was sent off for tattoos and a face up. I also got a Dorothy head with the event deal and I was thinking of using another body for her ? I'm looking for something that will make her look younger than the minisup body. If this isn't the right spot for this question, let me know. I'm kind of new to all of this. Also I'll post photos of my hannah when she comes back from the face up artist. The photos I got from her were amazing and I just want to show her off !

3. Catalystflours: Your Sujin look beautiful, love her name, does Illivat mean something special?

Congratulations! We need pictures asap . . . pretty please!!
They sure are taking a while, if you ordered yours in Jan and only just received her, I still have a long wait ahead of me as I'm having a F/U done too!

Does anyone know how long they take once they are "before shipping"?

4. Xanadu Dolls: Thank you. Illiivat is an Inuit word meaning "A person who is learning something"

5. Does anyone know where I can find a body review for the minisupia double joint? Scoured the Internet and can find nothing.

6. I ordered her january 7 I believe and she arrived march 18. I'm just so happy about her. I need to get my photographer friends to take photos of her because my phone is terrible. The first one is from my faceup artist Icaruslovemedley.

7. She's amazing!!!! I think I'm sold!

8. Oh they are great tats!

Now I am beginning to worry. I paid in full for Hanna 10th Feb and I have asked in Q&A as well as sent 2 emails to see when she would be delivered and they are just ignoring me!! Anyone else having trouble?

9. I don't think you need to worry yet. My two orders with faceups each took about 2.5 months. Yours should ship soon! I don't think it is ease for these companies to check the status of one order. I know one company said it actually delayed an order when you ask because they had to go pull the order from the production line to see what the status is. Most of the companies just give a general response.

10. It's not so much the time factor Nancy, but the fact they don't respond at all. Surely they could see that if they responded with a date, everyone would be happy and not send any more emails! It's very rude not to respond to an enquiry, especially if they expect to receive more orders.

I have dealt with many different Asian companies, both large and small, and not had this problem, but it is the first time I have dealt with this company and unfortunately it will probably be the last, which is a great pity as they have some lovely sculpts. However, there are many more reliable companies that have lovely sculpts too!

11. I ordered Hannah on the 13th Feb with out face-up. It has said 'before shipping' for a few weeks now. I have not tried contacting them yet though, you are not alone in the wait. Lets hope our girls ship soon! :hamster:

12. I have had a lot of problems with emails getting lost between me and Korean sites. I always stay with the Q&A boards when possible. Soom has learned to post warnings if the Q&A person is on vacation. I think there is a big trade show in Asia. A lot of Ebay/etsy shops are "away" npw

13. poordittums: Thanks it's nice to know I'm in good company! :)

nancy_schroeder_ca: Thanks for the heads up on the trade show in Asia, perhaps that is the problem, but it would be nice if they posted something on their site to let people know. Anyway, I left another message on Q&A yesterday, so we will see what happens (I did notice on the bottom of my order, it now shows a Delivery Date 17th April).

14. Oh concretejunglegym your Hannah is gorgeous! The artist did a really good job on all the tattoo's and she's just adorable and tough at the same time! <3

15. Now the date on the Order Sheet has changed to the 30th April, but still no change on "before shipping" today and no shipping notice received! I am so frustrated with this company! :roar

Sorry to whine, but I don't know how you girls can wait so patiently for months on end.

16. Waiting is nothing new. Before I got into BJD's, I per-ordered many dolls. I remember only ONE that was actually delivered on the date promised! And I was out of town on a long weekend! I have never found that asking for updates helped. In some cases it hurts. When the doll is ready, they will ship it! I only check when I feel something has been overlooked.

17. My girl has been shipped! Xanadu Dolls your girl shouldn't be far behind! Did you get her with a face-up?

18. Xanadu Dolls, I'm sorry to hear that your doll has been delayed. :( As far as I've understood, Supiadoll is a one person company, which means that the artist does all the sculpting, sanding, assembling and packaging by herself (I'm not sure about the face ups, but she might do those as well). So, unfortunately sometimes there is delay and the Q&A board can go unanswered for weeks. I think I read somewhere that she has to ask her friend to help with translating the messages from English to Korean, and then again her answers from Korean to English so it takes a while. Well, I do feel that it would be easier on her to answer a few messages more often than leave the messages to pile up for weeks, but perhaps her friend can't help her more often...

But hopefully you will either hear back from Supia soon or receive a shipping notice for your girl! ^^

19. I didn't realize Supia was that small. That explains a lot!

20. poordittums: That's great news, congratulations! Yes, I did, so it looks like I will still be waiting for a while yet. :(

Thanks for all the info Mizya, it certainly explains the silence and delays.

21. I need some help with a sculpt ID. I purchased this girl from the marketplace and the seller couldn't remember which sculpt she was, I think it's Yisol? Am I right?

22. She is beautiful who ever she is Calphedoll!
I am more interested in Supia than ever since it is such a small company.

The summer event info is up on the site --- free shipping this month!!!!!

23. Yes she is Yisol

24. Thank you bajib, have fun shopping.

Thank you @Zenna, I thought it was Yisol but wanted to be sure.

25. Finally received an email with an apology ... my Hannah should be shipping tomorrow 4th May, YAY!!!

26. That's good news Xanadu Dolls! I'm looking forward to seeing lots of pics :)

Question: Does Haru have elf ears? I really need a little elf eared .......

27. Thanks will post some once she arrives. I think so, they look quite pointy in the photos, but also tiny, not long like some elves.

28. I'm tempted by Haru, but have seen the flat faced photos too. But they have the new body now, so I'm curious if it sets better? I think's she's an adorable little elf girl from the front/3/4s. And most dolls don't look good in profile anyway ... I've wanted a Supia to go with my Limhwas (like building a family of Bimong student dolls :D).

29. I had Yisol years ago and miss her. I am thinking about ordering a new one. How long do they take to ship the order tjese days?
Does anyone have a normal and white to compare? Thanks! :)

30. Three months if you're lucky!!

31. Thanks! Not very encouraging, but good to know. :)

32. Well the good news didn't last for long. My Hanna didn't ship yesterday as was promised. There's no change to the "before shipping" on my account or on my order sheet. And of course today is a Korean holiday!! I am so disappointed with this company and feeling really p'd off now. :crushed Never again!!

33. How frustrating! Three months? Hopefully, they have sent her and you will get a surprise before too long. So sorry!

34. Well I certainly won't be holding my breath! I just hope others are having better luck with getting their deliveries from this company.

35. I'm sorry but what? 3 months is perfectly normal time to wait for a doll from any company, some popular ones take even longer than that. Right now it's just been about that 60 work days since you ordered the doll Xanadu, except that in korea there might have been holidays and if you got also the faceup, you have not waited over the time limit that Supia has written on their site as waiting time. Buying dolls is a waiting game, we all know it before we order and should act accordingly.

Yep that would be fine if I had been told that in the beginning. However, I have now been given three different dates and even received a shipping notice to say it was being shipped EMS on Monday, but still no ems tracking #. I don't particularly like being given the run around!!!

37. @Xanadu Dolls
If you had just waited patiently like most, they wouldn't have had to try to give some date, which they obviously for different reasons failed. Pretty much none of the companies that give a certain dates before shipping have shipped on that date, there's almost always delays (I've seen similar events on many different company threads) and this seems to be the norm with Korean companies (not a good business tactic, but still normal). Just let them do their job and wait patiently, you'll get your doll soon enough. I just don't like to see that kind of negativity in here when Supia has always been a really reliable company, and you give the impression like you had waited for longer than the waiting estimates on their site, which isn't the case. That might scare new customers away from an awesome company. :/

38. I just found the shipping notice for my Dorothy in my spam folder! She was shipped in less than two months from the order date! I think Supia is a great company. All three of my recent orders have been received in less than three months. Asking for shipping dates can actually delay an order with many companies.

39. The thing about these companies is that they are actually very small operations, you can't expect them to function like a giant corporation. I myself have waited up to a year for a doll, I just got shipping notice today for a doll I paid for in January. I don't mind the wait for a handmade incredible product, it's not like I am waiting for a kidney over here.
Supia has incredible sculpts, I think they would be worth the wait. Three months is really nothing, I surely wouldn't have been surprised at a three month wait, that's pretty par for the course.
For those who don't want to wait, they should buy dolls second hand that way they will know they can be shipped right away. IMHO of course.

40. duplicate post please delete.

41. Hey - little out of the blue, but I've been after an elf eared girl too and have actually ordered a Haru now - probably won't arrive until July but I should have her getting a face up asap so if you're interested I can post images of her once she's done? :)
But I know what you mean about some of the angles on her, but honestly, supia don't always take the most flattering photos and I just fell in love with her so hoping for the best xD

42. My latest arrival!

45. Dorothy finally found eyes she likes and snatched a wig from the Leeke order that just arrived!

She is WS with Smokey makeup. The wig is Leeke mohair LM-063_D in light brown which is almost black!

46. Nancy: Congratulations! She is beautiful. I love the contrast with white resin and smoky eyes.

Xanadu: Glad she arrived! She is very pretty. :)

47. I have recently started paying for a White skin Minisup Hannah. So excited!

48. Hey, thought I would drop by here.
I was contemplating getting a supia for my first doll, but I'm panicking about them being too large.
Had a look at the minisup girls now and they are so beautiful! I'm wondering if they would be better for my first doll.
Does anyone have any advice? Thank you. (:

49. I only collect minis, though my tallest is 50cm. I have a yan and she is still my absolute fave :) I don't find Her too big at all :)

50. xanadu, Very pretty! I think asian hairstyles look great on Hannah.

nancy schroeder, Your Sujin is lovely, are those real flowers?

Hasel, I like that wig a lot, it makes her look very mature.

aledmunds, congrats! Shes getting really popular :)

My Hannah finally got a body of her own! So excited!

That's my new bunny Wibolt, he's still super tiny so I had to try to take a pic with him and a doll. It was kinda hard as he kept moving around a lot but I got 1 cute shot :D

52. Thanks everyone for your comments on Hanna, I have named her Hanako.
Hasel I love your Sujin, she's a beautiful colour and she has a very mysterious air about her. Love your new addition too, Wiboldt is very cute and fluffy. :)
nancy_schroeder_ca Dorothy looks very elegant in her new wig, how are you going to dress her?
aledmunds Congraulations!
Viivi Size is a personal choice, but I'm sure you wouldn't regret purchasing a Minisup, they are very beautiful. :)
Cydril Ah another gorgeous Hanna to join us, she's becoming very popular. :aheartbea

I finished making a Kutaka for Hanako and photographed her using a background I purchased specifically for her. I love her Asian look.

53. Hanako is lovely in her Kutaka and the background is perfect for her!

54. @Xanadu Dolls
Thank you for your reply, but I've decided on an SD size supia for now. Although the minisup are so adorable!

55. Wow Hanaka is beautifull! That backdrop is amazing, it looks very real

56. nancy_schroeder_ca and Hasel thank you so much. :aheartbea

57. I'd love order a TS Sujin, Hasel, your girl is stunning ! So I just wanted to know if Supia Doll let the seam lines on the dolls ? And if it's really visible ?

58. Thank you :D

The seamlines are there but they never really bothered me, their molds line up really well so the lines are shallow. I've seen/had way worse seamlines on other dolls from other company's.

Their tan does 'yellow' quite fast, I've been a bit dumb so she got a little bit of sun damage on her face and collarbones, the tan turns more yellow, it luckely does not green and it's not very noticeble with a face-up. But as long as you don't forget your doll on the table you should be fine ;)

59. Do you think come in France for a festival ? This year there's no Ldoll but the Doll RDV in Paris (December). ^^

About the doll, do you have some pictures of the seamline, as I am a perfectionist, I just want to see if it's a thing that can bother me !
