Supia Girls Discussion Thread Part VIII

Feb 17, 2018

    1. Wow, what happened to her (story wise) That's a new kind of scarring that I haven't seen before? Like acid or burn? Is it only paint or sculpted as well? It actually looks really cool! Lets face it, there are a lot of people who are scarred from accidents or worse, and I have no problem with expressing life in a doll. I'm not creative enough to do it, that's why my dolls are so boring, LOL, but that looks super cool! What's best is that she looks OK with herself, I see so much confidence in that picture! I love it :D

    2. @IngieBee thank you so much! I'm so glad you like her :) theUgliestwife did her faceup, and the scars are all painted with a tiny bit of gloss (i think?) added for realism. She did a fantastic job.

They are supposed to be burn scars. The character I've been working on is a pyromancer that can be hurt by her own powers, and her face scars are the result of her powers manifesting for the first time when she was a child. She's supposed to have many burn scars, especially on her hands from learning to control her power, but I haven't had anything but her face painted at this point :)

I love that you see the confidence in that picture, it's definitely something that develops in her character over time! She's supposed to be the motherly, protective type personality in the group I have planned. I need to buy some of the other characters I have planned, the only other one I have is my Pathos tale Misheng :XD:

    3. What a cool story, @Rivon! I wish I could do that. Right now I'm using D&D to work on characters and give them depth in my mind, (instead of making my dolls extensions of myself, LOL) I'm a bit autistic and realized my lack of theory of mind has been keeping me from creating characters with motivations, etc... and want to improve on that. It's still superficial, but I think anyone can improve on personal growth at any age. Just realizing this was keeping me back was a huge leap forward :D

In the end, it should also help me understand, or at least be more flexible with where people are coming from. The problem with autistic spectrum disorder is you'd rather not deal with people because you don't understand them, and you become afraid of doing something wrong, saying the wrong thing, etc... and you isolate yourself. I'm pretty guilty of that :D I mean, I have a loving large family, I spend most of my time interacting with them, but I also have friends where the stress is such that I can't take being on my toes so long via spending time with them for very long, whereas my family know I'm weird, but even if I p*ss them off, they love me anyways :D Hope this helps me!

    4. @IngieBee I think using D&D to work on characters sounds like a great idea! I've never played it before, but from my understanding, it has a lot of tools helpful in the creation of characters, I especially love the alignment system, I've used that sometimes to help me establish my characters moral compass, so to speak :D

I definitely agree that anyone can grow and improve at any point in their life! I find creating characters and working on the world they inhabit incredibly fun, and I hope you have a lot of fun creating yours too :) Sometimes when I feel stuck on something, I'll just search for tips to write better characters, and a lot of times I've come across things I hadn't even thought of!
One of the best tips I like to keep in mind is just to make what you think is fun to make, and not think about what you should make for whatever reason. I used to think I shouldn't have something in my stories because it was seen as overdone/boring/cliche etc, but then I realized that writing doesn't have to be for anyone but yourself :thumbup

I'm hoping to have Lavel painted some more, and I'm still not 100% sure on her eyes, I think she might need a smaller iris, but I also really want to save money to shell her husband and about three other characters in doll form  but it's so much fun to finally have her somewhat completed!

    5. I think I like smaller irises too, however, those eyes aren't too bad. I would wait on those, because no matter what constitution you think you have SHE is going to demand her husband and you won't be able to resist, LOL :D

Just my experience, and why I made a rule to buy my FID dolls in couples instead of one at a time. That way I won't feel the pressure when I don't have the money to do it, LOL. Most all my SDs are girls, and those are the ones I'm working on for personalities. The FIDs are slowly working themselves out as well. I know my two boys are brothers, the girls are connected to the brothers, and best friends. But the rest is working it'self out :D

    6. @IngieBee, I never realised that you were autistic. Now I understand why you were nervous about doll gatherings. It is hard to know what problems friends are dealing with. I promiss I will love you even if you get a little weird!

    7. Well, I couldn't help myself and I had to order a Rosy while the sale was still going on. I have wanted a Rosy for a long time! Also I want to add and say y'all are so sweet and nice in here. Reading this recent conversation gave me warm fuzzies, so thanks for re-affirming my faith in humanity lol! XD

    8. Agreed, this has become one of my favorite discussion threads. :)
@IngieBee and @Rivon good luck with your character development! Sounds like you both have great ideas. :)

    9. Oh Rosy, I have the dreaming Rosy in new Tan and I can't say how much I love her! I love her with my Impldoll Alma, who has irritable bowels syndrome, especially when just about to go on an adventure, or just leaving the house. Although they're best buddies, Rosy's patience is often tested when it's time to go. Here she is waiting for Alma, who is in the bathroom...again....

      [IMG]RosieElise1 by ingiebee, on Flickr

BTW, I really, REALLY love that new 65cm body!!!

      • x 4
    10. Rosy has such long gorgeous legs! LOL, poor Alma. :sweat

    11. They just click together for me. Alma is a chicken, until the fight starts, then she's amazing and will do anything to save her friends but is prone to exaggerating the danger, LOL I think the angle of the photo makes her legs look even longer, LOL. I just love how the new body is sculpted and how well it poses for such a big girl!

    12. I've been trying to keep the height of my dolls down, but that new body is so tempting. :)

    13. Congratulations on ordering Rosy, @Tsukiyono she is such a great sculpt! I really like the fact that Rosy has been such a popular sculpt for so long, it really speaks to the talent of the sculptor :)

Rosy looks great on the 65cm body @IngieBee those hands are also super expressive! They look so delicate. Is her outfit made for the 65cm body? It looks amazing either way!

    14. The outfit, if I remember correctly, was made for Iplehouse EID/SID by our own Katushka_Nitok who has an Etsy store. She does exquisite work!

Yah, I hear ya, @Alewife! It's like everyone is doing bigger bodies instead of improving the smaller ones!

    15. ok i adore that outfit on her! where did you get it! i am having an impossible time trying to find anything that can fit my 65cm girl! lol! nevermind i just saw the post saying already haha. oops! still, looks great. :)

    16. Wow, that light tan is really nice, it's more like a real skin color. I do love the tan dolls! Rosy has been my favorite for a long time. Every Rosy I see I just think she's wonderful from blank sculpts to various types of faceups. That said I also like the other supia sculpts as well. I am keen on getting one of the elf heads eventually but that will have to wait a while as I just blew most of my dolly savings this past week. ^w^;;

    17. LOL, yah, @jamie5m, I think she does one offs, so yah gotta keep an eye out on her offerings. Not cheap, but the details are gorgeous!

@Tsukiyono , I think I blew all my doll money for the year! I have Hamin, who is seriously a ray of sunshine whenever I look at her, and my daughter has Eunice in white on the sj body. I love the elf ears, but I need to come up with something that makes it harder to wack 'em off! LOL . Hamin has long fluffy hair, so she doesn't even wear her ears, LOL

    18. Hi everyone!

For those with Supia purchase experience does 'before shipping' mean my doll should be on her way soon?

    19. Yes, it means your stuff will be shipped soon. How soon? I'm not sure! I can't remember from my last time???

OK, knowing that I ramble about everything on a daily basis, I looked up the history of my last order. On March 1st, my account on the website said "on shipping" .later that day, in the later evening, I got shipping details via email, and it arrived on March 7.

So I don't think it will be long now!

    20. @Em I see to remember that it took a couple of weeks from when my order changed from before shipping to actually being shipped. It may vary though, so I'm not sure if there is an average time.

    21. I seem to recall it was a couple weeks yet after it changed to "before shipping", but you are definitely getting to the last leg of the journey! XD

      All right, so just out of curiosity. Does anyone here have the old supia tan and the new light tan? I'm just super curious how they compare, but seeing as the new tan only just recently came out it's probably a long shot. ^w^;

      • x 1
    22. Anyone have suggestions on what clothes will fit the new 65cm body? I think iplehouse EID/HID might fit but is that my only hope besides custom made ? Lol

    23. I do not have the old tan, @Tsukiyono, but I do know that there were or was one or two sample photos from Supia that looked really light, and I'm not sure if that was the final color or if Supia darkened it after a lot of people were dismayed at seeing such a light "new tan", but my tan girl is a nice deep tan. I'd love to see a side by side as well though!!!

@jamie5m. On Etsy, there are a lot of makers of clothes in that size??

    24. I only have to light tan too, but I just took some pictures that I think show the tone very well. I don't know how much the light tan could possibly vary from batch to batch or if its very stable, but here is my girl with no editing to show her resin

      [IMG]Lavel by Rivon92, on Flickr

The wig I had intended to be her permanent wig arrived today, and I'm a little disappointed. It has a large "weft" or section at the back that looks sloppily attached, so it sticks out from the rest of the wig. I spent a lot of time trying to make it look decent, and can't really photograph her from certain angles.

      • x 1
    25. Aw, that's too bad, the wig looks so beautiful on her, @Rivon! Good Lord, I LOVE her crop top!!! BTW, which body does she have? Is that the adorable tummy of the original sj body?

    26. Thanks @IngieBee, I like the wig on her too, the colour and cut is pretty much exactly what I envisioned, it was just annoying to discover such an obvious flaw :sweat
Her crop top is made by GavalloniAtelier on Etsy, she makes several styles of crop tops, and can make stuff specifically for the DJ body (which is what Lavel has) So this is her second one :) It's actually supposed to be a pajama set but I think it can work as a normal top too.
And I agree, the tummy is so cute, I love the DJ body, even if her pelvic joint tries to pinch my fingers:XD:

    27. LOL, mine is floppy, so I need to do some hot glue sueding. I bought two AS bodies recently from the marketplace and one had been sueded, the other not, and the difference is night and day!

I love the look of the dj body too. That's why I got another. But my next supia will be on the 65 body because it's awesome! I just didn't think my head would look correct on it :sweat

    28. I have both types of tan skin here, I took a quick picture:

    29. @MuhKuh, thanks for the comparison photos! The difference is amazing; to me, it's like comparing Volks Sunlight skin to Volks Ebonyskin. That's a pretty radical change on Supia's part. :3nodding:

      • x 1
    30. Wow, that difference is very significant! Thank you for such useful photos, @MuhKuh

    31. I'm also shocked. My Rosy doesn't seem THAT light (of course it's probably just the monitor) but what a loss! Too bad they didn't keep the old tan, I would have wanted that too! :(

      • x 1
    32. Thirding the surprise at the difference. I would definitely say that my Haeun looks much closer to the old tan in this picture than the new light tan, and she was definitely ordered in light tan. I wonder if this is proof that their light tan is not a very stable colour? Of course, as stated, it could quite easily be monitors and such, but the difference does look very striking.

    33. Don't worry, their light tan is very stable, I have placed three orders this year, each with a light tan part and everything matches. It's just the lighting/my camera that makes the light tan look so pale. I think the full body picture is better to judge the colours.
Also, through the years Supia has changed their tan a few times (from dark tan to light tan, to dark tan and lately back to light tan), so there is a chance that the original tan will come back one day.

    34. I really like that darker tan a lot, and I'm pretty sad I missed out on it now :doh Oh well :( But I gotta say that the picture does make your lt tan a bit lighter than it actually is, but I assume that the darker tan also looks much darker?! Oh man would I love that color now, LOL

    35. Thanks @MuhKuh ! Wow that’s a huge difference! I do like this new tan, it reminds me a bit of Maskcat’s Tan.

    36. Oh that light tan is gorgeous! I would have chose that color instead of NS.

    37. Maia's new Medieval Faire outfit :love

    38. @KimC I love that! What a pretty dress, and the jewelry is great with it (belt and necklace) Very well done! Is that a Lina sculpt?

Ugh, I have a Supia DJ body sitting at customs since Saturday, what's taking them so long? LOL, I think I'm the queen of complaining!

    39. @IngieBee, There, there. And a big hug! It will probably move tonight! If it doesn't, I will send you another hug tomorrow.

    40. LOL, Thanks @nancy_schroeder_ca :D It did! I just checked and it's just cleared customs, which *should* mean delivery tomorrow :D My juri07b will be (hopefully) happy, LOL. I know she will be because originally I got her the Supia body but Hamin took it from her, then I put her on a new Luts body, but it never really felt like it was "hers" and so it went back to the unintended Luts head I got with it (Isabelle) and now my Juri will have the Supia back. Which, BTW, I have never ever given her a name. I need to do that!

Anyway, my next Supia will be Juah I think, in the new 65cm body, probably. But I have to wait a while. I got myself overwhelmed with dolls, and have so much to put together on them, get their personalities settled, etc... I don't want any more dolls for some time now!

    41. Thanks IngieBee, she is actually a Muse sculpt. I just stumbled upon this dress on etsy and couldn't pass it up. My favorite two colors black and red. Yup, the jewelry came with the dress. I really want to find a nice head piece ( rummages around in the bjd clothing and accessories box) I'll see what I can find.

    42. You can make a wire snood? Or one out of metallic netting?

      • x 1
    43. That's a good idea, I'll have to see what I can do. Thanks IngieBee <3

      • x 1
    44. @KimC beautiful! The colors, the cut, everything. :)

@IngieBee do you have her yet?

    45. Just got it! But can't unpack until later :shudder

    46. Thanks Alewife :)

    47. I unpacked my body, put my FL Juri07b head on it, she had this body before, and a cute jumper I recently got from Alice's Collection fits perfectly. I'll take a picture tomorrow to show off the clothing :D. I think she is happy, finally. Now she wants me to come up with a pretthname, why can't she just tell me her name? Everyone else's doll gives her name to their owner, but this one says I have to come up with it! Ugh! I always get the difficult ones!

      • x 1
    48. @MuhKuh thank you so much for posting a comparison of both tans! I'd been looking forward to seeing them side by side!

Here's my Hamin, Raquel. She is the old tan

    49. @GoodbyeYouHelloMe , That outfit is gorgeous on her! May I ask who makes it? That's the cutest tummy! I need to make an outfit that shows off the tummy for my daughter's doll. She's a monk :whee:

    50. @IngieBee thank you so much! I purchased these shorts second hand so long ago. Unfortunately they have no tag inside or anything but they look like they were made by a company. As for the top, I made it.
If she's a monk, doesn't that mean she has to be covered? ahaha!

    51. LOL, she showed me some D&D fan art with a super skinny, but muscular chick with bandages on her arms and feet, in a short wrapped top and knee length pants of some sort, LOL. So I guess not?!? @GoodbyeYouHelloMe :D

    52. @IngieBee she's a modern monk ahaha! Sounds more like Lara croft though lol.

    53. Maybe I should put a dash of Laura in the design :)

      • x 1
    54. I stopped getting notifications for this thread for some reason. @GoodbyeYouHelloMe love your Raquel! She looks more sophisticated than most Hamins.

@IngieBee I'm looking forward to seeing your "modern monk"!

    55. That might be a while, @Alewife , I'm not getting anything done  :(

    56. I know the feeling. :sweat

    57. Hi all! I’m looking into ordering a couple of girls on the 65cm body and I was wondering if the 60cm body and the 65cm body use the same heel feet. Does anyone know?

    58. There are original and 65cm heeled feet listed in the parts section.

    59. @hannaliten, I'm away from home and can't check ATM, I take it you would like to know if they are interchangeable?

I can try getting back to you in a few days though?
