Supia Girls Discussion Thread Part VIII

Feb 17, 2018

    1. @Dei I was looking to see if they make the right kind of tan currently that I'm looking for. Tan is such a hit or miss with dolls so trying to get it as close as possible is always a nice thing :D So any picture of the tan would be lovely!

    2. OK @Pooki , Here are some pictures I have:
My Supia dreaming Rosy Is with my Impldoll Alma in this picture. I don't have my login info ATM, sorry. Alma is 'normal pink'. Rosy is lighter than Iplehouse brown. Also, here are some headcaps I photo'd together. They are all company tans. Not many places offer a good dark chocolate brown, mainly because all these beautiful tans are difficult to work with. But Iplehouse used to have an amazing Ebony color. But I don't think it is always available.

I said earlier about Fairyland tan, I meant it was about the same darkness, not same color, hope that came through??

    3. @IngieBee Ohh I get it now! so the same shade of brown. Fairyland's does look nice. Would actually work with a bit of touch up extra browning. :D Thank you for the bit of help! I wish companies give us better color examples in more accessible places lol so we don't have to go on a wild goose chase of "What does it currently look like and will it work?"

    4. Still, though, it's hard to capture the exact color of something. Plus monitors also need to be tuned properly, etc... Thus I think the best we can do is use sunlight (under some sort of shade so the colors aren't blown out and post the results untouched) as well as have things to compare to. I hope the two pictures helped. My Alma is a very pale 'normal pink'. Those two are bestie adventurers, but Alma is a chicken, LOL, and i think the pale skin enhances her personality. Despite her fear, she always comes through in a pinch though :D

    5. I took a quick photo of the latest tan:
The other one is their latest normal skin. Hope this helps! :)

    6. That helps a lot! I'm actually really happy with that tan coloring! I was actually fearing it'd be some much lighter tan so it might be worth it to get Rosy in tan like I've been wanting for a while since she has the most similar eye shape and face to a character of mine. before Christmas I will end up with a new doll one way or another lol Thank you again for the photo!

    7. They did have pictures on their site for their 'new' tan which seemed really light. I don't know if it was the photography or if they deepened it after hearing everyone lament that it was too light??? When people started receiving the dolls, they were as they are now.

    8. @Pooki Not sure if you need this, but Supia did post a comparison picture between their new light tan and the old original tan on their Instagram, and it is much like fairyland tan as well as spot on for migidoll's suntan(which is now called cream brown)

    9. Yeah thats why i came asking for recent tans since that light tank is nice but really they should offer both tanks since people don't always want a darker tan or lighter tan. In my case that darker/old tan is exactly what I want and it been a mission to find a sculpt that can be both tan and the right sculpt. Plus Supia ears that come completely off is amazingly perfect. It means i dont have to chop off ears lol. I wonder if i talked to them about the tan they'd do it *ponders*

    10. I just took my Heeji out of her prison box and dressed her, she will be my OC named Sable since her other form is no longer with me. I have re-done this character so many times and I am getting too old to keep up with the "perfect face" for her. Will try to do her faceup next week. Has anyone seen the ballerina heel feet Supia has on their website?

    11. It can't hurt to ask! Also, another opTion is to get a dark tan body from a doll company that makes them, and that you like. Then have an artist (or yourself) blush the head to match. It is surprisingly easy to do.

Since the head is painted anyway, it's as easy as anything else to care for.

Missed this :whee:. I don't think anyone has received the new ballerina body yet, and I haven't even seen a pair of heel feet that are designated for the ballerina body??? :doh now I am realizing I should have ordered a pair, ugh!

    12. The ballerina feet were released with the ballerina body. I ordered a ballerina at the end of June. I would think they should ship fairly soon. But there may have been a higher order volume with the new body.

    13. Please, give me an advice... Looking for shoes for my Supiadoll original body (single joint version). Zaoll shoes work but... it's the same problem becose size...

    14. @Arengil for her normal feet or her heel feet? I don't know for the normal feet but the heel feet work well with luts senior delf heel shoes or dollheart SD13 and SD16 heel shoes.

    15. For my Roda on the original single joint body she wears a shoe size of 7.5 cm in length so that is what I go by when buying shoes for her flat feet.

    16. @KimC Maia looks lovely-- I really like the headdress on her. :D

    17. Thanks so much Alewife :)

    18. Adorable, and lovely dress @KimC :D

@Arengil , like @derilan85 said, go by foot length. Most shoes today are sold with inner length stated now. Especially on eBay, Etsy and acbjd.com. If you like the shoes from a doll company, you can look at the doll the shoes are made for and check their foot dimensions. I have to say life has gotten easier with shoe suppliers giving out better information compared to years ago when finding shoes was a real shot in the dark!

    23. I took a new portrait of Qalhata, my dyed Noa head :

I like the dark tan of her Classydoll body, but it is so hard to make it stand! :doh

    24. @Follow-the-Wind she is stunning! Wow! You could try blushing the difference away, but she looks perfect in that photo!

    25. @Follow-the-Wind Noa is amazing in that color! Now I want Supia to offer a dark-dark tan. :)

    26. Hello once more! I was wondering if anyone happens to have the ballerina body and the 60 double jointed body for comparison! If you also have the 65 cm body as well to show! That would be amazing too! I'm literally down to trying to decide which body to get. I been leaning towards the ballerina body but I would like to see proper comparisons before I start committing.

    27. I can give it a try, but I only have the dj body and 65. I don't think anyone has received the new ballerina body yet???

I will say I love the 65 body, it poses a dream and is rock rock for me. I really like the look of the dj body except that she looks like she can't completely straighten her knees and is unstable standing. I have 2 and both act floppy since day one and are hard to stand. But, I have yet to try hot glue or anything to stabilize them, which I am sure would help. But I do like the aesthetics of the body :)

    28. Oh is the ballerina body that new? I wasn't even aware lol. I do love how it poses though based on the photos. It looks so free ranged which is a huge highlight for me.

The comparison of the DJ body and the 65 cm body would be great actually! Thank you! I was looking at getting Rosy so I been over here trying to figure it out lol. I wish companies would put all their doll bodies into a group photo so we don't have to go stalking off to the ends of the internet hoping to find what we need.

Thank you for the information that they are quite floppy and will be needing sueding or something similar.

    29. @Pooki The Ballerina body is very new and went up for orders at the very end of June this year. I have not seen any owner images of it yet. Here is a side by side comparison with the 65cm body. You might want to take a look at their Instagram too. There are a few more images and videos of the bodies there.

    30. Yeah I saw it went up in June just wondered about if people had it yet by now. I'm most likely going to end up with it since its looking to be the best fit. Just the question is could I convince them to do their old tan XD since they know the difference but why did they change it :( Why not just offer both. Is there a way to ask them before i place an order or no. if it was difficult to produce. XD just stick a fee on it thats slightly more. People will pay for it if its the right kind of tan.

    31. I agree. Though I do like the new tan, there aren't enough dark colors available and the new tan doesn't cut it for some things.

BTW, I took pictures and am fixing to upload them to the internet, then here. Might take me a bit....

      OK, here they are:

You can navigate through my pictures by going here. But you probably need to set the site to desktop version if you are on mobile :)

What I have to say about these two bodies, and basically all bodies, is that I have yet to find one that is perfect. Between these two, the 65cm is stiffer, though she can do a lot, spreading her legs so she can sit cross legged is difficult and the movement comes from the mid thigh joint instead of the socket joint. The dj is hard to stand and her knees never straighten completely, but she isn't sueded or anything. The joints are slippery and I am sure sueding would help, but where she excels is in achieving more relaxed poses. Then there are the aesthetics. With the 65cm body, she has the shape of a woman with those hips. The dj body has a more youthful appearance IMO. This works for my characters really well. The bottom hip joint is a major cause of it's instability, mut a major reason for it's better natural expression and I am hoping that the ballerina body will combine the positives from both of these bodies! I can't wait to get it!!!

    32. Thank you for the photos! the 65 cm one looks actually really nice. The hair really does help the head being "smaller" on the bigger body. Def thicker XD The ballerina body actually would be a really nice mid way point between both of those bodies.

    33. Now that I've been able to find more realistic dolls, it doesn't seem to look out of proportion. I have issues with too narrow shoulders, LOL.

    34. Quick question peeps! Did anyone’s 65cm body come with unfinished insides and resin dust falling out? My Heeji has been sitting in the closet cus of that, I’m too afraid to play with her even tho I did give her a rinse :shudder

    35. @Blackie-Neko I have gotten dusty dolls from other companies before, can't say from Supia?? Sometimes they are not wiped down well after finishing (sanding and such). But I don't understa d what you mean by unfinished insides? Did you buy directly from Supia?

      Warning: opportunistic drive-by spam :XD:

Hamin is such a sweetie and always makes me smile back :love

    36. @IngieBee Yup, I bought her directly from Supia in the beginning of last year. The insides are really rough compared to my other dolls that are basicly smooth. I don’t even know how to describe it... there’s like, dents everywhere on the inside and resin flakes in most places? It just seems kind of unfinished :huh?:

    37. I can't check right now and I have never unassembled a Supia before, so I can't say. I can say I've seen a lot of dolls who are very rough on the inside, but less so if they were computer designed and printed- which is the trend today. I'm going to guess the newer bodies are 3d printed and older ones were sculpted. But I can say there shouldn't be any reason the doll would break due to a messy interior?? I mean unless you see cracks through the thickness (not seam lines) or if there are super thin spots. Don't keep it in the closet for fear! Please take a picture at the least and let us see what the issue is, and we can make a better assessment as to whether you should be concerned :)

    38. [IMG]

Hazel has been hidden away for too long, poor girl. She's in need of a new face-up. This one is four years old and chipping, and besides I know I can give her a better face-up! Please excuse the slightly blurry pic. >.<

      • x 7
    39. Oh yes, do give her a freshening up, I love darker faceups on Rosy! I have a dreaming Roda incoming from buying the new body, and I am hoping to give her a somewhat Betty Boop vibe, LOL. OF course my faceups are a bit amateurish, but I always give it my best :XD:

    40. So my ballerina body and dreaming Roda head arrived! I have not been able to open the box yet, as I'm not home, but I'll try taking pictures tonight :celebrate:cheer:dance:cheer:celebrate

      • x 1
    41. Oh thats exciting! I can't wait to see pictures! Also review on how the body poses since no one seems to have that here yet. Congrats on the arrival though!

    42. Ugh, I have no energy, I need sleep :doh I hope to take pictures tomorrow, sorry!!!!

    43. OK, I took a bunch of pictures of the body in various poses. And here is a shot of the 65cm, ballerina and old dj bodies:

      My notes:
First, the head is an R&R/Rainman Anna, still she has pretty good movement.

The body has the tightest stringing ever!!! I could barely get the head on!

As I suspected, if lined up the way it looks like the body should be put together, her back is super arched, however, it accepts, without snapping, a more straight position. The legs don't want to spread, unless unhinged, which makes standing difficult.

I just realized that I forgot to see how she bends side to side, that will have to wait as I'm out of time for today!!! :)

      • x 3
    44. @IngieBee Congratulations on the arrival of the ballerina body! :D and thank you so much for the reference photos and your review of the body since no one else seems to have it yet. I'm a bit disappointed to read about the arched back, looking at the official photos I didn't expect it to be that way myself, but it's great at least it accepts any other position without complaining.
Are her feet the same size than in the oldest body or like in the 65cm or somewhere inbetween? Her feet measurements are the only ones not listed on Supia's page. I want to get some shoes for my incoming ballerina body and I don't know what size to get haha

      • x 1
    45. @IngieBee In the first picture, is that Supia's current tan? It looks very nice! I think the new feet look very nice! I always thought Supia's flat feet weren't very pretty. They were too flat. I'm still waiting for news on my ballerina!

    46. @IngieBee thank you so much for the photos! They're super helpful. I wonder if that thicker part at the top of the feet (the older one seems thinner) could affect certain styles of shoes in terms of being tight there.
I ordered the heel feet as well myself, I wonder how those will look like, if they will be new or just the old heel feet.

    47. Yup, she's after the color change. The feet are not that pretty, and the bottoms are even flatter. Same kind of hands too, but I don't mind them

    48. Ah, the infamous no email surprise package at the door.

I also received my ballerina yesterday. I need to try her out with some of my floating heads.

    49. There is an announcement in the news section that the original body will be available until the end of the month. It's in the parts section

      • x 1
    50. LOL, @Meyneth. I was constantly checking my status on the site, so I found my email in the spam folder. Huge congratulations !!!!

@nancy_schroeder_ca , that's so tempting! I don't have a head for such a body atm, but it might be good to have on hand?¿!!!

    51. I am tempted to get another doll, but there are soooooo many things this month!

    52. @IngieBee you weren't kidding about being tightly strung. I think I chipped my glasses when my pliers came flying at my face ><
I feel like looser stringing would be beneficial for floppier poses, cause right now she can't really do relaxed bending.

She did end up with my Hana head though. :P

    53. The body looks much more friendly now!

    54. First time soon-to-be Supia doll owner here!

I have Chesney - a light tan Sarah on layaway! I was hoping for the old original tan which was much darker and much richer, but I plan to blush her extensively to make sure her tone will be noticeable and deep enough in person. I'm trying not to fuss, since I fell in love with the sculpt on sight, and after probably 5 years without buying a doll I impulse bought her. No buyers remorse yet - but today is payday so I'm pretty excited to make payment #2!

      • x 2
    55. Well, congratulations on a new doll, @Teruchan ! I know, it's very difficult to find a good dark tan :( . Iplehouse has some of the best color range, and a few good ethnic sculptures, but they are expensive as heck. And they definitely have a different flavor. I really hope you like her when she arrives. Next to the usual normal skin, it is much different, so in the dolly world, it's not bad???!!!:thumbup

    56. @IngieBee oh yes! I love Iplehouse - I have a Benny in the beautiful deep chocolate tone they make already! This is my first Supia girl, and while I'm hoping that they'll bring back the original tan one day, I think my new girl will be very beautiful. I've also got a few tan dollies besides my Benny (since I skew my collection heavily towards tan sculpts), including a Dollmore Tan Pado girl whom I love, and my darling Dollstown Mui who is currently my fantasy husband LOL. I love him so much! I think Chesney will be a good girlfriend for him, but we'll see if he likes her when she arrives. If not, there's also my Tan Re-Che, and she'll have friends in a beautiful tan Bambicrony Bellezza Esther! :D

I'm trying to be the Tan Resin queen apparently lol. I'm 'tan' myself so I guess that's why!
